Mercer Island said their machine was broken and would not be repaired. Redmond didn't have a staff person who could operate the machine (from the reviews I read it's been that way for months). Issaquah has one staff member available for fingerprints from 2pm to 6pm. It took me 40 minutes in line to find out that the machine was down for the day. This post office also has a temperamental machine, but one employee was willing to give it a try. The machine here decided not to cooperate and take my fingerprints, but I was overjoyed just to have a chance by the time I made it here. Thank you for letting me try!

Just as evidenced by the overall score of this location (and most Usps locations) it's not usually a pleasant experience. In fact, you may dread going there. You gotta go there, not because you want to but for some reason you have to. Well both my visits the attendants each time were very nice and patient with me. Which goes a long way, particularly when they aren't being incentivized. This post office is located nicely too, the area usually isn't too busy, there is a parking lot with a fair amount of parking on and off street and the actual building is on the bigger side, as I've seen some small post offices. So while I don't go often, if the folks at this Usps can make my day slightly easier, I'll certainly take it.

This diversity makes it impossible to establish a narrower/better window of delivery. I can understand a carrier may prefer to start at a particular point. Maybe they want to start at a less challenging to gather momentum or they want to lighten the load faster by going to a cluster of boxes (apartments, assisted living, business complex, etc). I wish the best for carriers and only ask for a standard of common syncopation be established so the customer can better determine an arrival time.

I thought that the next best thing would be to have the postcards stamped in Seattle, Washington. I searched my Yelp app for the closest post office and this one in Georgetown popped up. There were many free parking spaces right next to the building. Inside, there was a long line of customers! I guess it's because there are only ten more days until Christmas?!?!? When you renew minors passport in which they already had one, you do not need to see their birth certificates, that portion can be verified by the State Dept. at adjudication. I advised her I was okay with receiving a letter from the State Dept., she just needed to process my two minor applications and she refused to. I didn't want to argue with her, I made an appointment for the next week. We pulled our kids out of school hours early to make the appointment. Hours before our appointment, I received a call from their office canceling our passport appointment due to short staffing. I let them know how disappointing this was because we pulled our kids out of school early and had all the necessary documents and that it was a huge inconvenience. I will never step foot in this office for anything. Terrible service and incompetent staff.
