This is the kind of spot you want to go to if you have to get new plates. I like the huge spots in bellevue, this has just 3-4 people in what looks like a former garage. They are very efficient and while you might have to stand out in line out side but it goes quickly. Getting there early is essential and avoid the lunch time rush as well. Also bring your checkbook as they charge $$$s for credit cards. The staff is friendly and helpful. Do as much as you can online but if you want a blast from the 1960s this is the place. read more

I renewed my car tabs online and found this place conveniently close by to pick them up. There is a small parking lot but the office itself is even smaller. It's so small that they only allow 8 people inside at a time and that means there's usually a line out the door. They offer a variety of services including renewing tabs, title transfers, and registrations. They don't issue drivers licenses but the full list is on their website. For the most part you should be able to get what you need done here. Bonus points for them also being open on Saturdays! read more

I've gone here twice and for various reasons. Both times haves been great. The staff were nice and understanding to me. Also I was able to get what I needed fairly fast. The two times I've gone here I'm able to get in and out very fast. The longest I've waited was at most 30 minutes but other than that it's been good. read more

THEY DO NOT LICENSE PPL, ONLY VEHICLES!! I used to dread going to the DMV, but after 3 experiences at University License Agency I feel confident that my needs will be addressed efficiently! I had a tricky title transfer and out of state registration. The folks at University License Agency helped me with every step, and with each visit I knew I was in great hands. Today when picking up my plates, a customer was verbally assaulting one of the staff for an error that the customer made. The staff member remained calm and collected, I truly don't think I would have been able to do the same. The line may be out the door when you arrive (they allow a max of 6 ppl in the lobby), but it will move fast! I spent less time there than I did with my oil change at Jiffy Lube! Coming from CA - this place made getting my new plates a walk in the park. To anyone who is complaining about not having the right documents or requirements etc., the WA licensing website is VERY clear on what you need depending on your vehicle type and year. Even though this isn't the actual King County office, of course you need real documents, not receipts or copies - I was surprised that other people being serviced were complaining about this to the people - like they can't bend the state rules for you, just bring the right documents, friend! I did not fill out my odometer until I was at the window with the agency personnel - literally ran outside to quickly check it and make sure it was 100% accurate, and the person helping had no issue with this. I waited in line on a Tuesday afternoon, and was there for a total of 30 minutes - probably 5-8 minutes at the actual counter. When you have everything you need, it's quick and easy! The person helping me had a friendly demeanor and clearly told me what I needed to sign/how I would get my new title etc. Yes, transferring your plates is expensive, but you can't negatively Yelp rate them on the fees, that is determined by the state of WA... If you think this is not a decent experience, I invite you to go to a CA DMV - now that is awful, but that's expected. I would go here again if needed! read more

UGH, so looking at the silver lining, i came in with a TON of transactions and while the lady at the counter was initially overwhelmed, she helped me sort through my pile. some times you don't get what you want because the state has "rules". Unfortunately you can't shoot the messenger, but gosh it certainly isn't fun staqnding in line to be told 80% of your list can't be done due to "rules". At the end of the day, she really was a help, getting my return visit set up for success while was a big help. Round two went much smoother. read more

Convenient parking right out front, friendly front desk clerks, and quick efficient service! This is my go to location for all things DOL. Tabs can be picked up here with ease along with anything else you need. If there's a long line one day just come back the next. It fluctuates dependent on the time of year and day of the week. I haven't ever had to wait more than a few minutes to take care of what I need here. read more

From the moment I walked in, the lady behind the counter was condescending and rude to me, even scoffed at me when I answered one of her questions. She ended up over-charging me $400 for taxes to register my car because I got a good deal on it, which a good agent would have recommended otherwise. my friend later went here as well, which i should have advised against, but anyway. she ended up losing $40 over their incompetent customer service. all around a traumatic experience. would not recommend. read more

having been in the car industry for over 12 years - I spent a lot of time at various licensing agencies and I will say of all the ones I've been to, despite ULA being a tiny location - they have the nicest people! I got there early and all of them greeted me with a smile, as I waited for my party to arrive, one of them asked what I was there for an gave me some answers to help make the transaction smoother. i doubt i'll frequent this location but they do deserve some kudos for the excellent customer service! read more

My heart sank when i saw how small the place was and how many people were also waiting prior to opening. Went in to get plates and a car registered, by far quickest place i've ever been to! Pleasant staff, wait wasn't long (under 10min) once i was in the process took roughly 5 min, the debit card charge was the slowest part of the process (30 seconds). I won't be coming here again! Personally had a bad experience and there are plenty of other great licensing places that I'd recommend. I came here to change the title of a car into my name. The lady helping me was not helpful and was a bit condescending. She explained that the previous owner of the car (my dad) had altered the date. I understand that it is an issue and couldn't be processed. She did not help me resolve this but rather suggest that I have my dad order a new title. That wasn't the only option I later learned. My boyfriend and I left and went to a different licensing agency nearby and they assisted me and helped me with a workaround. read more

Everybody hates having to get license plates and queueing at the driver's licensing office, but this experience was quite pleasant. The staff here have an excellent sense of humor and cheerful disposition. Most importantly, they work very fast -- I was in and out of here in less than an hour including the wait in line and me asking all sorts of questions (The actual time to get my out-of-state title transferred and WA plates was probably about 15 minutes tops!) IMPORTANT: Know the EXACT odometer reading on your car; the staff are weirdly strict about that number! If you're from out of state, bring your old punched driver license. More importantly, you will need to have a WA driver license first before getting plates. Bring cash to avoid debit card and credit card fees. read more

I opted to pick up tabs at the office due to repeated attempts at mail theft (welcome to Seattle.) More than 10 days later I still don't have my tabs because there is a constant line with 10+ people or more regardless of time of day. I've never experienced this at other licensing offices! Either this staff is always super busy, or they are incompetent. And, their phone number is constantly busy, so no chance of calling to ask them to mail the tabs, per the suggestion of the WA DOL. read more

I went here with my girlfriend to get some title changes. The lady behind the counter was not helpful and was scolding my girlfriend for some mistakes on the form and I did not appreciate this. Even with the mistakes she didn't provide us any help to correct the mistakes and just made us even more confused when we left. This is unacceptable in my opinion for customer service and I will not be returning. Ok something I learned from transferring plates and title to WA... Washington State likes to RIPOFF their residents. I paid an arm an a leg for transferring plates and title...I have never paid so much... (The lady at the DMV said it because WA state does not pay State taxes...) If I had know that before I would have kept my own plates from my home state of IL. You get your license plate from an office that looks like a run down disgusting liquor/convenience store. And your DMV sends you there?! Really...When the DMV sent me to this office I really thought I was being punked. But there it is on the piece of paper they gave me. In any other state I have lived, you get your plates from the DMV in a building that is associated with the State...not a random dingy run down building. Now lets talk about the village idiot Woman who works behind the counter...RUDE, Uninterested and how many ways can I say unhelpful. When I was asking her questions she looked at me like I was from a different universe....OK WITCH...everyone is not from your precious flannel wearing state and every state has differences-you repellent woman. Yeah I pretty much hated her and wanted to smack her across the face. I would love to drop this woman in the middle of NYC with just a subway map and see how she does...now that would be some comedy. I went into University License Agency with a ton of questions and ignorance... Vivi (not sure on the spelling) was absolutely outstanding and assuaged my concerns and made everything super easy. She was both professional and personable while being as helpful as possible. All of the other workers were super helpful, too. Seems like most negative reviews are based on issues that individuals have with the State of Washington, which has no bearing on this place. If you're looking to wait for hours at the DMV and hate life, don't come to this place. If you value your time and are looking for help, hit up University License Agency. Top notch!! read more

I was coming here to get a disabled parking pass, so was disappointed that the parking lot was full to the gills and I had to park a block away. That made me nervous, not only because I had to navigate my way over cracked sidewalks and tree roots, but because I was truly not in the mood to wait in line behind all those people whose cars were so rudely in my way. (I'd already wasted enough time at the wrong licensing office, thank you.) But, joy of joys, there was no line whatsoever. And once I managed to open, pass through, and dodge the extremely heavy door, I was in and out within five minutes. I renewed my mom's tabs to be mailed from this facility. We made sure to update the mailing address through license express (website with DOL). When we haven't received in the mail I decided to call. their phone system is terrible. There is infinite ringing and no message system. I have tried multiple times. I have e-mailed them and got no response. We decided to go in and the person at the counter charged us $13 for us to get them in person. They had mailed it to the previous mailing address when we clearly updated that information online before ordering. The man working at this facility was very degrading and condescending to my mom and I. He was adamant that it was our fault and we did not update the mailing address. We had proof that we changed the mailing address but since we did not have proof of when it was changed, it was our fault. Not sure how we are supposed to confirm when we changed it when it does not give us a receipt of change when updating it. This place was unprofessional and would NOT recommend doing business here. Do yourself a favor and find another place. read more

If you've been to a California DMV, then you will understand exactly why I am giving this place 5 stars. The lines are much shorter, the staff is much friendlier (not super friendly, but very willing to help you out), and you can get processed probably 2-3x faster than at a typical DMV. It's not a nightmare going here, you don't really need an appointment in advance, and they'll take care of you as long as you know what you need. Tips: Free parking on the site. Excellent service. Superior to standard publicly run DOL offices. I came to register my vehicle from another state and they were professional and even slightly nice with me! The wait was also brief, probably about 5 minutes on average the times I've been here. I also got the distinct feeling that they wanted my business, which can't be said for the workers at the DOL driver's license office downtown. Those DOL people were borderline condescending and the location was understaffed, like every DMV type office I've ever been to. I am curious if other state-owned services can be released for competition as well. There are 8 privately owned vehicle licensing offices in the City of Seattle, all competing for my business. Therein lies the incentive for their workers to treat me like they need me, rather than me needing them. I don't want government to be privatized, but releasing some simple services like licensing to licensed private vendors is a good idea that makes people's lives easier. read more

I've been going here for a long time, but the last time I renewed they made a huge mistake I didn't catch. Somehow my address was changed when I renewed my tags - the DOL didn't have an explanation when I called until I told them I used a second party to renew. This is almost unexplainable since my license was used to renew - but a different address was typed in and I didn't catch it. One result of this address screw-up is my Good To Go bills being returned to sender (since they use the DOL database) and a huge penalty levied against me. Never again University License Agency. Just do it online, do it yourself or go to a state office. read more

The clerk who helped me was super fast, and explained things clearly.
