    I just left the Dubuque store on Wacker Plaza. I was sitting there for 20 minutes before anybody…read morewas behind the check in desk. The employee began to talk other people ahead of me. I said, "I was here first! I don't have time for this." and began to leave. He said to me Don't come back!!!! This is NOT the customer service I expect. I was trying to get help activating a phone that won't activate by following the instructions. This employee was way out of line and obviously wandering around the store rather than doing his job, not to mention the absurdly rude comment.

As for why I recommend this store: Coming from a horrendous customer service experience with Verizon, I wasn't expecting much from US Cellular. I switched to get a lower priced monthly plan but didn't expect more than that. I have been pleasantly surprised since making the switch. It's not that everything has been 100% smooth (it hasn't been) but the big difference is that the sales and customer service staff at my local US Cellular have actually been able to address issues and resolve them WITHOUT me spending endless hours on the phone trying to explain things to an 800-number support person. Maybe my expectations are just that low but with Verizon, any time I had a problem I would be told one thing by one rep, only to wait several weeks for what they told me not to happen. I would have to call up again, start over with a new person, and hope that the story they were telling me would be true. It never was. I am completely astounded by US Cellular in the sense that even though things have been bumpy with my transition from Verizon and everything didn't go exactly as promised, there has always been a real person ready to take ownership of the problem and find a solution. If it can't all go right then this is the next best thing.

Was told they no longer have it. The guy recommended the glass screen protector instead. Fine. As I was putting my phone in my purse which was sitting on the floor I missed the pocket. It fell 2 inches to the floor. When I got a case to put on my phone 20 minutes later I noticed the screen protector was shattered. Proceeded to go back to US Cellular and was informed to send it in under warranty and they'd send me a new one. When I went to Verizon I was told it should have been marked as defective and sent back to the company and my money should have been refunded. SKIP THIS STORE AND GO TO VERIZON. This store has horrible customer service!!!!

    About four years ago I walked into this store to set up new phone service, and the guy that…read moreassisted me set me up with the wrong plan (after trying to up-sell me by lying). I went in a few days later when I realized the error and was told that I had to come back again when he was scheduled to work. I did so a day or two later. He did change the plan to the correct one, but not before trying to up-sell me again. I can't prove it, but I am nothing short of positive he did it on purpose based on his demeanor and response when told what happened. I made the mistake of not calling him out on it right then and there, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, since I was getting a prepaid plan and the original plan he gave me was a postpaid plan, a new account had to be created. Instead of closing the original account, he just made the new one and a month later I get a huge bill for old one. When I asked about it, I was told that the account would be zeroed out and closed, but that it might take a month or so, so I should just disregard any future bills. Which is exactly what I did when I got the next bill a month later. A month after that, the bills stopped coming so I assumed the account had finally been closed. A couple months after that, I get a notice from a debt collector for it, and when telling the debt collector that it was a fraudulent debt, they reached out to US Cellular for "proof of debt", and all I received was a copy of the original invoice. I reached out to US Cellular, but all they told me is that once it goes to collection it's out of their hands. For months afterward, I received multiple calls daily from the debt collector and additional notices threatening to report me to the credit bureaus. Fortunately it never appeared on my credit, but just today I received another notice from a different collection agency for the same thing. I have wasted at least two hours this evening calling the US Cellular store where I initially set up service, calling US Cellular customer service, and chatting with US Cellular customer service online. I have been transferred, put on hold, told I would be called back but wasn't, and just given the runaround. All I've gotten is "you need to talk to someone else" and they give me a number and tell me that it's the "dedicated Fraud debt reporting" number, or the "Financial Services" direct number, but it's just the regular customer service number which is almost completely automated. When I did get through to a human, all I was told is that it's my problem and there is nothing anyone can do since it's already gone to collections. US Cellular, if this goes on my credit report: watch out.

    I've been using this store for probably 8 years now, almost since my very first cell phone. The…read morereason I stay? Great customer service. Here are some examples: 1. I'm no longer local, but my dad will often stop in to ask them a question and they are very helpful. 2. They've given me a loaner phone to replace my broken and let me keep it for months until I was up for a new contract and could get the good phone deals. 3. They offer really helpful feedback on new phones and are not afraid to say a phone is crappy. I know US Cellular has had a lot of problems lately especially with the billing system and this place was really good about answering questions and helping people find the best way to pay their bill. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because this place is always busy when I visit and I have to wait for a worker to assist me.

Theyre very down to earth and seem to be very knowledgeable (Tyler and Jared have helped me the most). Very good place to go if theres something specific youre looking for. They wont let you down! If they cant help you by any means they get you where you need to go for whatever it may be. I will miss this location when i move! I would consider driving an hour just to pay my bill every month if the new location im at dosent serve me as well. Just saying.
