My passport had an error in it so I filled out paperwork and went to this post office to get another picture. Walk ins are available at this location from 1-2pm so I arrived at 1:20. There was a long line and only one person doing anything passport related. As I stood in line she saw I had a passport and promptly told me she didn't have time to take anymore passport pictures. It was 1:30pm at this point. I explained walk in service was from 1-2pm but she said too many people were ahead of me and she didn't have time. She also acted as if I was a bother to her. It was apparent she wasn't going to help me after I tried to reason with her so I wound up leaving without getting helped. It was hard for me to get there at all due to some difficulties I have and to be treated like that only reaffirms my lack of faith in the USPS. read more

The other horrible reviews below are sadly true & the poor service obviously has been a problem, at least with this branch, for years & I don't see a solution. New to the area (2-1/2 mos ago), EVERY piece of mail sent me is lost. Never recovered, just lost. How do I know? A few ways... I have Informed Delivery that blasts cricket sounds everyday, so the mail I'm awaiting for weeks or months never arrives... letters & manilla envelopes sent by family 2-4 times has never arrived or been found... when I pay $9 for certified delivery with a return signature card (which never is returned to me... never), it's delivered 6-8 wks later, the tracking number never works online (always says awaiting scanning) so I have to keep calling to see if it's been delivered & I can only find out yes-no by visiting the P.O. to check on it... which they so love. Visiting is a treat. The tall, fat, bearded guy who'd rather be anywhere than at the front desk had only 1 piece of advice... pay to mail everything certified. Right, so I paid $9 to mail just 1 manilla envelope & you're saying if I want to send a letter to family I have to do the same... yes. But, how does that help what's being mailed to me, yet never arrives... his advice was to tell them to do the same. Right... no company is going to visit the P.O., pay $9 to mail something they normally drop in the box. He did go to the back for 10-min to check on 1 certified piece of mail never received & told me it arrived. When I asked the date because I'd just called the company & they've never received it, he looked at the now 3 people behind me in line & said he didn't have time to check. You were just there, fat boy... didn't occur to you to glance a date! I asked if he could give me some sort of print out as proof it had been delivered... ( insert crickets ). He didn't have one, people in line, yadda yadda, I have my old receipt... so I left still not knowing or believing it's been delivered. I see that there are equally poor reviews for all P.O.'s in Waukee, so as inconvenient as it is, next time I mail something, I'll go somewhere in DM. This still doesn't help that I'm not receiving ANY mail at my home. I've lived in 11 states & this is the worst postal system I've ever encountered. Walked in at 6:20 and their hours posted were 6:30. Door was open and I walked in but all the gates were down and there was no where to talk to anyone. Rang the doorbell three times and wait 10 minutes and no one ever came to the door. I always have issues at this branch whenever I go in. Never easy. read more

This is the worst possible shipping service anyone could use. I sent an expensive package through here, was given a delivery date and told everything was good. A week after the date passed, the package was still not delivered and when I asked for assistance I was told there was nothing they could do, and that I if I wanted a better experience I should have used a more expensive shipping method. Do yourself a favor and use UPS or FedEx, because this company has no idea what they're doing. read more

I was trying to send a package to my daughter a us marine and they front desk was terrible I could not read the form. bad eyes and they wouldn't even read it to me or help in any way they were standing there doing nothing but wouldn't help at all. we need to get rid of these kind of people lazy and food working for us but definitely not working read more

The post office was very disorganized and understaffed. I went to renew my passport and they were ridiculously behind. I had an appointment and it took a total of 2 hours to be waited on. I thought I had plenty of time between appointments but I was almost late to my next appointment plus there was no time for lunch as who would have thought with an appointment it would take two hours to be helped. Not only was it slow it was incredibly cold in there. The temp. was probably in the 50 degrees range plus there was nowhere to sit. Shame on you USPS. This was unfair the the employee and the customers. Note: There was an employee that was taking care of the package customers that was delightfully happy. He had a can-do attitude. I had so much time to observe him and he treated each customer as they were the most important person. Kudos to him! read more

Hands-down the most unorganized post office I've ever had..... yes this is government funded all the way you can tell lack of quality control lack of personal commitment to doing the right thing and helping the customer out. Had a family emergency had to go out of town for only 10 days and they shipped everything that I got back to where I ordered it needed these items from. And then they put a slip in my box in for the new person living here which for somehow for some reason they thought I moved out in less than 10 days I don't know this is the weirdest thing. And they can't track or haven't been able to track the items they sent back. So I don't know what I got and didn't get. Thanks for making life easy government post office especially Waukee while disappointing all the way. Oh and they were supposed to call me and let me know what was going on and nobody did I had to call them again nice quality control and customer service. You guys would be out of business if you were in the public sector or actually you guys are going out of business due to this type of quality...You would think living in a small town there be a small town feel and small town mentality of trying to help each other out. This post office is so disorganized!!!! I put in a change of address and the still are sending my mail to my old address, even after I went down there in person and reported that my mail was still being sent to my old address!!!! Wouldn't recommend them to anyone!!! read more

I don't agree with Stephanie P. The post office is doing the best they can with staff and assisting customers. The heat was out that day ~ these things happen. Also, the renewing of and getting new Passports is new at this location so there is probably a learning curve here. I go to this post office everyday and I wouldn't go anywhere else. They are the best! read more
