This is an adorably quaint post office housed in a converted house in historic Glen Echo. It has…read morealmost a Norman Rockwell-esque feel to it (am I dating Ng myself) in that it literally morphs in your view to a watercolor postcard done in light wash, it's that perfect. It's tiny. If you go, more likely than not there will be a line. BUT the clerks are almost always wonderfully pleasant, patient and helpful, and most patrons are likewise. I love this post office and almost always go here to buy stamps or send packages just because it is so much more chill.

This unequivocally was the best post office experience I've ever had. The woman behind the counter…read morewas so customer service oriented, sweet, nice, and funny that I just can't wait to go back. She struck up a conversation about what I was sending out, we chatted about vintage crates, decor, and her mom (I believe it was) helping her decorate her apartment. She was saying how she doesn't really have the eye for that sort of stuff. I told her... always mix materials and old and new things. That will always add a nice warmth to a space. In any event, she was just so pleasant and friendly. I was headed to the airport and needed to use a restroom before I sat in traffic for like an hour on my way. I kinda was like... "hey... you guys don't have a public restroom in here do you?" I mean... I was 99 percent ready to hear a "no". And she said, hey yeah I can let you use our restroom as long you don't make a mess, kill anyone, or do drugs in there. She was joking obviously. I laughed heartily and she escorted me back. What a kind gesture to let me use their employee restroom. Anyways, I had no idea this post office was here. It's quite tucked into a neighborhood in Glen Echo. When the GPS told me to turn, I almost did not thinking that it must be the wrong street. It's like you're turning into a residential area, and there's a historic building with a post office in it. And how often do you get a friendly post office employee btw? I'm sorry, I don't like to generalize, but I think that might be a first. In fact, my next review might be of the post office behind the home depot across from Montgomery Mall where the post worker yelled at me when I asked him if that was "really the cheapest way to send my post." Le sigh. Might have to make a trip out of my way to get to this B.

This is a decent location for USPS. This location is one of the 2 locations convenient to me but I…read moreprefer the other over this due to a few reasons: 1 Parking - it is ALWAYS a pain to find parking here. It seems like the parking lot is used by non post office visitors as it is always filled close to capacity! This makes accessing this location a chore to visit 2. Traffic - the traffic due to its big neighbor, Home Depot, and other businesses around it, make it a challenge to get to the post office. 3. The building is old and sad looking and needs some TLC to freshen up the look 4. The staff working here provide a just okay level of service and the line moves at a Sunday afternoon pace.

However, I have trust issues and was correct to be concerned!!! I needed to forward my home mail for approximately 6 weeks. I asked the clerk for the appropriate form and filled it out. While submitting it, I spoke to the Branch Manager to ensure I had followed the directions correctly. She reviewed it and declared it correct as well as basically saying to 'not worry' as the form would be posted in the mail sorting area and staff would separate all forwarding mail and send it forward. Not to worry... So, my housesitter told me that mail IS STILL BEING DELIVERED to my primary residence!!!! So, I googled the USPS website and tried to speak to a human - no luck there. I was stuck in voicemail hell and now have been on hold for 58 minutes and 49 seconds waiting to speak to a representative!!!! THIS IS UNCONSCIENABLE!!!!! HELP!!!!!! AS i finish this review it has been 1 hour and 1 minute with 45 seconds. Disgraceful.
