This is a decent location for USPS. This location is one of the 2 locations convenient to me but I prefer the other over this due to a few reasons: 1 Parking - it is ALWAYS a pain to find parking here. It seems like the parking lot is used by non post office visitors as it is always filled close to capacity! This makes accessing this location a chore to visit 2. Traffic - the traffic due to its big neighbor, Home Depot, and other businesses around it, make it a challenge to get to the post office. 3. The building is old and sad looking and needs some TLC to freshen up the look 4. The staff working here provide a just okay level of service and the line moves at a Sunday afternoon pace. read more

This is a Federal Agency that is being dismantled and deprived of resources. I understand that and try to be kind to the overworked staff. However, I have trust issues and was correct to be concerned!!! I needed to forward my home mail for approximately 6 weeks. I asked the clerk for the appropriate form and filled it out. While submitting it, I spoke to the Branch Manager to ensure I had followed the directions correctly. She reviewed it and declared it correct as well as basically saying to 'not worry' as the form would be posted in the mail sorting area and staff would separate all forwarding mail and send it forward. Not to worry... So, my housesitter told me that mail IS STILL BEING DELIVERED to my primary residence!!!! So, I googled the USPS website and tried to speak to a human - no luck there. I was stuck in voicemail hell and now have been on hold for 58 minutes and 49 seconds waiting to speak to a representative!!!! THIS IS UNCONSCIENABLE!!!!! HELP!!!!!! AS i finish this review it has been 1 hour and 1 minute with 45 seconds. Disgraceful. read more

I had lost my mailbox key and was instructed to order one through the post office. I did as I was instructed and paid $40 for the replacement. I was told it would be 2-3 weeks. That was December 8 and I went in today January 13th asking about the status. I was instructed to hire a locksmith and come back with receipt to get a refund. When I ask to speak to a manager they said the manager would not speak to me. So I pretty much donate my money to the postal service. read more

On August 20, 2025, my wife and I went to the USPS Office Westlake Branch (zip code 20817) to submit my wife's first-time U.S. passport application. Gupta was the passport acceptance agent. We did not hear anything from the U.S. State Dept since. We met with Ms Gupta on Oct 7, and she called the Washington Passport Agency but they could not locate any information about my wife's passport application. She then gave us the tracking number for the package she mailed to the Washington DC Passport Agency on August 20. The tracking number 9114902200789592630160 shows that the package was sent back and delivered to the Westlake USPS Office on Sept 8, after sitting in Dulles Distribution Center for about 12 days. The Dulles Distribution Center is very close to the Washington Passport Agency's mailing address in Sterling VA 20166-1192, but it was never delivered to the Passport Agency but sent back to USPS Office instead. I asked Ms Gupta who handled the returned package on Sept 8 and why it was returned. She told me that a postal employee in the back did see the package returned a couple times and everytime they just sent it back out again. But she did not give me a clear answer why the package was returned. Now, I am puzzled why the package was retunred multiple times and where the package is exactly. If the mail is lost, my wife has to apply for a copy of her U.S. Naturalization Certificate from USCIS, which costs us about $550 and could take several months. On Nov 30 , 2024 i went to my local post office in Spring Branch , Tx to mails some packages for xmas . i mailed 2 out one to California and the other to Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda MD. The est, arrival date for this package was Dec 4 . . the California package got to its destination on dec 3 , great , but never got a confirmation on the Walter Reed package . I started putting in my tracking number on the 5th od dec and the tracking always showed the package in the same place BETHESDA MD. At this time i figured it must be stolen or lost . I called the phone number since the online was a waste of time . I was on the phone going through prompts for an hour and a half , just trying to talk with someone , NOTHING WORKED NOTHING . I had gotten caught in the never ending circle jerk of the same information asking me to put in my tracking number which i had for 6 times now . By now my blood pressure is so high i could hardly breath . So i decided to do other prompts hoping i could find someone to find my package . I eventually go to a place that said "leave your number its over an hour waiting and we will get someone to call you back " which i did . At this point its Dec 7 2024 i finally get someone and like good little script readers the person says " sorry for you inconveniences " here's your request number " i get the request number and the USPS person tells me this will get someone to investigate the number and they will give you updates on your phone texts ,emails etc with a couple days . well that didnt happen so I called again gave them the " request number " and the same script gets read and tells me wait some more days . I never got one update not one person was concerned , just the same old bullshit answer " someone's looking into it and wait two or 3 days and they will contact you . Finally I called again on the 10th of Dec , same story " sorry for your inconvenience just wait and someone will call you . At this point I'm so upset , I contact the Dr. at Walter Reed Hospital who was my cancer surgeon and leave an email stating the problem that my package has been lost somewhere in the Walter Reed zip code which the army owns the entire zip code . Maybe he being a Lt Col he could inquire at his end since i was getting no where other than we will call you and they never did . so Finally on Dec 11, 2024 i called again , and of course you go through the same ever BS of just wait and someone will call you "I explained a complete idiot would at this point 10 days later KNOW the package is gone , NO ONE KNOWS WHERE IT IS ,IM NOT GETTING ANY PHONE CALLS BACK WITH UPDATES , IM GETTING NOTHING other than the scripted we will call you . I said listen i think i have to figure this out somehow but let me say this " I don't understand what you employees do for your money there ? just answer the phone and say "sorry but just wait for a phone call ????I mean seriously you people do nothing , you dont help with filing a complaint , you wont lift a finger to find out who is investigating and what is the status of the request ??? Maybe I should get a supervisor the dude says ok hang on . at that time am pretty well loosing my patience with this whole deal after 12 days of getting the run around I say , I'm really upset because what im finding is it seems to be a practice of waiting and waiting for 10 minutes no one ever comes back and we get left starting at square one again , please tell that's not going to happen . he guaranteed he would be back in with in 5 mins he was , he says the supervisor is on the line " I said "OK " nothing happened , i kept saying hello hello hello ? and finally a woman says "hello " i said hello " she says "hello " , at this point Im livid and say are we going to sit here all day saying hello back and forth , would the proper way of progressing is by identifying yourself and say "HOW AN I HELP YOU ??? US Post Office --more just stamp, letter and packages, they can help you renew your passport It's passport renewal time, in my household. So off we went to the local post office. If you need to do the same, before you go, check the hours set for when the post office, has a clerk in the passport office. Also, check your passport to verify when it will expire. Did you know, most countries will not permit a traveler to enter their country unless the passport is set to expire at least six months after the final day of travel? My passport had just 5 month left, so it was the right time to renew. We were able to purchase new passport photo, $15 for a set of two identical photo. One goes with your passport and you keep one, in case you need it to request a traveling visas. You can also purchase a money order for the passport fees, currently $110, for the US Passport Book. The Passport Card cost $30. Service: Very helpful, cheerful, hardworking and they went out of their way to make sure we provided everything need so I could sent off my expiring passport for renewal. read more

This is the worst postal facilty. They constantly deliver mail to wrong houses. Now that they deliver for Amazon, they have learned a new trick to improve on-time deliveries. They will update a package as delivered, and deliver a day or 2 later. It drives people crazy because they think their package has been stolen or mis-delivered. Our large neighborhood has an e-mail Listserv group. Residents are constantly searching for packages that show as delivered but are not. When will the USPS clean house and hire new management at this facility? read more

No one answers phones anymore so I had to make an appointment to get any answers. I went for my passport after changing my name from marriage. Gupta was the woman that I saw, when I got there she was eating lunch & said she didn't expect me to come because I wasn't there 10 minutes early- mind you I wasn't late, I was still 5 minutes early. So right off the bat she came off as rude. She asked for my application & I told her I was changing my name then she asked for my passport & asked me why I was renewing since it doesn't expire for years. Listening skills- just told you I got married & changed my name. She said I had to mail it in, but got my picture. Which she was very quick about, I wear glasses so asking me to take them off & then walk across the room isn't easy, everything is blurry & I get then dizzy. Last time I renewed my passport in 2019, they were much more kind & let me see the picture- I mean I am paying $15 for one picture lol. She just printed it without caring, so I'm going to get a new picture taken elsewhere. They also mailed it for me in 2019 & were helpful in making sure everything was there & complete. I had asked her a few questions which she brushed off & I had to re-ask at the end since I know I can't call in to get any help. Some customer service training for Gupta could make a better experience. If you have an appointment scheduled, don't get mad you can't take a lunch break & have to actually work. read more

Post office should fire everyone who works on North Bethesda zip code 20852. They are the worst workers, you do change of address, it takes them months to acknowledge and process. They should be awarded for being extremely rude and customer unfriendly. A clean up is needed and calls need to be recorded so that this rude behavior can stop. They deliver mail when they feel like and if they don't want, you will never get your mail. I guess postmaster is still taking a nap! read more

If there was a 0, I would choose that. I moved Sept. 2 from Zip Code 20817 to Zip Code 20815. A week before I moved, I filled out a change of address form and gave it to the Post Office at 20817. The first thing that happened was that the mail continued to be delivered to my old address for at least a week. I called them and told them I had filled out a form and given them my new address to be forwarded. It is now Oct. 3 and I have not received one piece of mail from this post office. I have tried to call them but the one person in charge of forwarding mail doesn't answer the phone. 9/30/2022 I called and the lady that was picking up the phone at 2:30pm sounded older and very aggressive. I was trying to ask her an estimated time that the courier would arrive for the mail and she hung up the phone five times and then stopped answering when I called back. There is a reason why this postal office has only two stars and I witnessed both first hand today. 1) There is never any parking available even though the postal office is almost always empty. 2) Lack of customer service. It's non existent here. Simple courtesy such as being polite is lacking in the employees. I witnessed a lady? I'm 74% certain it was a lady, being intentionally rude and degrading to a customer. After the customer asked very politely might I add, a question, this "person" said "how many times do you want me to tell you it's in Atlanta? The information is not going change, but you keep asking me the same damn thing, over and over again" "excuse me?" Said the customer, "you're excused" responded the postal employee. Can't speak on how the supervisor intends to resolve the despicable behavior I witnessed, however it quickly becomes apparent that most, (my guess 98%) of the employees need customer service training, starting with communication. This place is an unorganized mess. At this location, EVERY DAY is the day before the yearly tax filing deadline. Observations: Staff is either short handed at all times, or are truly incapable of doing their job efficiently. Supplies are in complete disarray. Why have some of the labeling supplies in line, and other corresponding supplies at another table far away from the line. When someone sends me something, and i check my PO BOX, there is a note saying I have mail. Why not just put the mail in there and that way i don't have to get in line to get my mail, what is the point of the PO BOX? THE LINE, THE LINE, THE LINE! Why is there always a line? Is this the only Post Office in MD? Why is the line so long, and there are only two postal working processing shit? Going here is like having an aneurysm, on top of an epileptic seizure, on top of anaphylactic shock, while getting a colonoscopy! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy out of fear of apocalyptic retaliation. This place is the reason there should be a negative star rating. read more

Nothing wrong with this post office... At least, nothing that's not wring with all post offices. They've got an Automated Postal Center, which is what I use 90% of the time. The lines can be long at lunch time, but short at other times. Not usually that many staff on duty, but the ones I've dealt with have been reasonably helpful. The main reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 3 was one excellent experience. I dropped off a package that I was returning to an online retailer, only to realize after I got home that I'd forgotten to write the return number on it. I called the post office, fully expecting to be rebuffed with something like "we can't alter packages in any way." But no! I got a very calm, helpful postal employee who asked me for enough info to uniquely identify the package, quickly located it, and asked me what I wanted written on it. They left me on hold for 1 hour and 42 minutes, each time answering, asking for a tracking and then putting me on hold again. They lose packages and don't answer phone calls. LIke others we put a hold on mail because of a vacation; we were supposed to get the accumulated mail three days ago; we have not received it. We know from a phone call that a supervisor named Yates from the Westlake/Motor City facility was supposed to deliver our mail yesterday; it never came. Awhile back we went to this Post Office at 5:45 PM on a Sat. The PO Box area is supposed to stay open until 6PM on Saturdays but the building was already locked. (there is no counter service after 2PM but but you can still get your box mail and there are machines to send packages up to 6PM). We waited outside until 6PM talking with one of the 5 other people there who had been inconvenienced by the early closing (one person was an elderly lady who had arrived in a handicapped taxi). No notice or reason given for closing early and the weather was nice. The incident was reported to a counter person the next day who wrote down the information. This past Sat, 2/13/2016, we arrived @5PM and the Post Office was closed. Weather was ok and no notice given. An upset elderly gentleman was there who said the PO had been locked about 4PM and he had been trying to get help because he needed to get some important mail. He said he had talked with a "rude" man by a back exit who told him the PO was closed, alarms were on and he couldn't get his mail. No counter staff people are needed after 2PM. It seems the only person needed is the one who locks up the 2 front doors, puts on alarms, and is supposed to stay until the usual Sat. closing at 6PM. I guess the mail delivery drivers didn't get to go home early that day because we saw one near our place in the PO neighborhood at 5:30 PM delivering mail. read more

We'd gone there a few years ago when my mother needed to fill out a change-of-address form and we went there three days ago for the same reason. This post office services a *huge* delivery area, as my mother lives in Chevy Chase. Anyway; we spoke to a *very* friendly mail carrier in front of the post office - but when I asked one of the workers at a counter for a change-of-address form, she was quite unfriendly (she seemed annoyed with my request and she practically *threw* the form at me). There a few helpful and friendly workers which make one's visit efficient and likeable. However, there are some bad apples and if you get one of them, you are likely to be frustrated and leave cussing. Sometimes the line is out the door and there is only one clerk at the counter. In summary, it is hit or miss when you go to this Post Office. A few years ago, I even witnessed a shouting match between several customers in line and one of the rude clerks who threatened to call the police. Several clerks are wonderful though. They told me it was my fault as we must have just moved in. I moved here 15 years ago. Another time, someone came to our house with a pile of mail that they found in the woods behinfpd their house. This review is for both Bethesda post offices. I have lived in Bethesda for 2 years and during that time the postal service has lost five of my outgoing packages. The packages never tracked. FIVE PACKAGES! I sell items online and before I lived here, no package I mailed had ever gone missing. I have given packages directly to mail carriers, put them in the package slot in the post office, and put them into public mail boxes. I filed missing mail reports and nothing came of it. When I get a receipt, this never happens. I can only conclude that employees must steal the packages. It is bizarre, but what else could be happening? read more

I would give 0 stars if that was possible. I downloaded yelp again just to review this terrible post office. I sent a package to a buyer and they never scanned it. And my buyer never received it. I told them it never scanned and they said that they do not know where it is. I told them that the buyer has been waiting 2 weeks to receive the packages and could they look for it. I was told they didn't know where it was until it finally got scanned which could take up to 30 DAYS to find it. They gave me no indication that they cared to find it at all. The manager (African American guy with glasses and deep voice) is not only obnoxious but hostile towards customers. He rolls his eyes at a simple question and literally forced me out of the building when I asked him about a minor issue (I had been overcharged) making obscene gestures, yelling, screaming. Unbelievable. I've seen him on multiple occasions telling people they are wrong, yelling at them, etc. The women in front of me today, before I had a run at him, had a question about stamps and he rolled his eyes, gave her some smart ass comment and walked away. My favorite was when a person asked him a question and he spun around and said (exact quote) "excuse me, stop being rude!" Everyone in there, myself included couldn't believe what we just heard. Simple question (when does the PO kick in an oversized box charge) was answered with hostility and a fight. Never will I use the post office again and I've been using them every week for years at this location. read more

Certainly needs improvement. I was there one Saturday at 5:45 PM and it was closed. Closing time on Saturdays to pick your mail at rented PO boxes is 6 PM. Other people were there to mail packages from self serving machine or to pick up their mail. There is no excuse for this. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful while others are rude and incompetent. Management has to improve the quality of this badly administered Post Office. I suspect that part of the problem here is bad management and a poorly trained staff. Generally speaking this is the main issue with the USPS in general. Many a time I have had to resort to UPS or FedEx. Although more expensive, they are efficient and reliable. Not sure if the USPS can be repaired. I hope it can but this particular Post Office West Bethesda does not give me much hope for improvement. read more

I try to avoid this USPS location at all costs, but for whatever reason I give it another chance. They always have a long line and half the staff is just roaming around or in the back. After this afternoons' visit I will avoid this location AT ALL COSTS! I stopped into drop off a parcel package (printed my label at home and fastened it on). The rep behind the counter takes the parcel and drags it along and I notice that when he dragged it along the corner of his weight machine it punctured my parcel- creating a pencil-eraser sized hole. I asked him if he could put a fragile sticker or tape the hole that HE created and he said no. He then had the audacity to tell me to buy a roll from them. I will not buy a roll of over-priced tape for an issue I'm not responsible for. I told him I taped up the package perfectly and brought it in not thinking staff would damage my parcel. Since he created the problem, he should resolve it. He then proceeded to tell me to go to my car and bring the tape. I was flabbergasted. I had parked by the nursery section of Home Depot since the majority of the shopping center parking is under construction. I could not believe his rudeness and the fact that he couldn't peel a 1/2 inch of tape to fix the issue. NEVER AGAIN! read more
