I have reviewed the Springfield-Brookfield Plaza Post Office a number of times. There's nothing you can do about the number of people that are standing on line with you. They've hired more customer service people and they seem friendly and ready to help. I used to dread coming to this location but now I'm greeted with friendly smiles, pleasantries and even thanked for my patronage. Keep up the good work! read more

The USPS 'forwarding mail ' online option was easy for my Daughter in Law to fill out. But we have found out through much trouble that the USPS doesn't take into account that Middle Initials designate different people in the same household. We have spent 3 months trying to get it straighten out. We asked them to stop the forwarding process, but they didn't. We talked to the mail delivery person to advise her that only one middle initial has moved. The worst part is 'someone' took it upon them selves to advise all our business mailers that we had moved and they in turn changed our address in their database. So we've called to correct that problem but now still we have to send emails to the same business associates telling them we did not move since it was changed in their data base again. If the post office asks for a middle initial and doesn't use it and spirits mails away from a household, I call that close to criminal. But I'm told I don't have any legal standing on the issue. read more

This review is for the US Post Office location at Brookfield Plaza, in Springfield, VA and is "hub" location for the town of Springfield. In this latest episode...tried to speak with the "newest" Postmaster assigned to this location...no one with any brain at all...picks up the business phone. Appears this Postmaster job is a rotating door....one there last month, or, three months before that...not the same as the one this month. Employees at this location do not demonstrate any form of customer service. Hey USPS: time for complete career clean-out of staff! The location phone number and online presence appears simply a bureaucratic run-around. Zero accountability. Endless phone loops. Overall: (-*) Eeek. Methinks not. The parcel package deposit bin for mailing large packages has been out of order for months. Then the entire dysfunctional bin with the "out of order sign" disappeared. So no replacement? Now. I'm stuck shoving anything larger than a small priority mail box in the parcel slot where it promptly jams. I then have to leave while cursing and hope no one steals the package I just stuck 1/2 way in the slot. Every other po has one to accommodate larger mail during lobby only hours. Not here! read more

I use this location just about everyday and the staff have improved their service. I can still tell when they're smiling even though we're all wearing masks. Review for this location and ask usps number. I did a change of address two weeks ago or over ten postal days and still have not received ANY forwarded mail. I submitted the change of address at this location. I received two different answers to my question of where is my mail going to be going during the processing of changing my address. I'm very disappointed. I've received the confirmation at the new address, and made 2 attempts to call them @ ASK USPS as it states in the confirmation and have not been able to get through. There is absolutely no no excuse for the ridiculously poor delivery service based at this post office. Letters, bills, and packages are routinely misdelivered. The carrier will scan a package as "delivered," but several times a year packages are delivered to an incorrect address, leaving the intended recipient to wonder if the package was stolen or merely misdelivered. When a call is placed to the post office, the intended recipient is directed to "ask the neighbors." Sitting here on a Saturday at 5:43 PM (the post office has been closed since 2:00), and still waiting for today's mail, which includes two packages documented as "out for delivery" since 8:04 AM. Weekday mail can arrive as late at 7:30 PM. read more

I came here yesterday to submit my passport application. The person I spoke to on the phone about a month ago to set my appointment was personable and helpful but then when I showed up the woman in line was pretty much the polar opposite. She seemed annoyed with me that I didn't make copies of my driver's license or marriage certificate or bring a picture. Honestly, I asked about all these things on the phone and the woman I spoke to said bring x, y, z and we take care of the rest, so that's what I did (and I reiterated that in person). But the woman behind the counter wanted to chastise me for every little thing and acted annoyed with me for paying for the services they offer. While I was there I also witnessed her critique a fellow employee who asked for guidance and grump at a couple of people in line who had questions about shipping stuff and dropping letters off. Ironically, when I asked to purchase a book of stamps her demeanor completely changed. Thankfully my entire transaction only lasted about 15 minutes and I won't have to deal with her ever again because my normal post office people are much more friendly. read more

Lady that picks up the phone by last name of Jones is extremely rude, doesn't even let you finish explaining the problem. The staff here need to be retrained and told how to treat customers. I have worked in retail and I would never speak to anyone the way she spoke. This post office location is a smooth blend of terrible customer service mixed with an extreme lack of organization, run by a gruff woman (possible manager) who barks rude orders and comments at fellow employees. Two weeks after moving in and getting settled, we found that our jammed mailbox lock was unjammable. After various attempts to unjam the mailbox, I made my first call to the post office. The line was busy. The next day I called again. Busy again. I attempted to call five more times at various times and was always hit with the same tone ringing "busy." Realizing that calling was futile, I went to the post office in person. I waited in line, witnessed a verbal assault from the potential manager to an employee, and finally it was my turn. I explained the situation, was told to come back with a lease for proof of residence and that no mail was sent back to them in the past three weeks. I was skeptical that three weeks of mail could fit in our mailbox, but resolved to come back as soon as possible. (It's hard to meet the 4pm close time.) I came back with my lease another day and spoke with a different employee than the first visit. I asked about returned mail and found that not only was our mail being sent there, there was a mound of it. I was then informed that they only resolve mail issue on Wednesdays and I left. By far the worst post office I've ever had to deal with. Before moving to this street I had never had a package lost by the post office. I've only been here less than two years and have already had at least two packages lost. The first package said it was delivered according to the tracking, but I never got it. I called the post office, they said they'd look into it and call me back. Never called me back. I called again. They couldn't find it, but said they'd call me back after looking into it further. Never called me back. The second package said it was delivered a month and a half ago. A week after it was supposedly delivered I called the post office. The guy looked at his computer and saw that whoever delivered it apparently delivered it to the house next door. He said he would talk to the mailman and call me back. Are you sure, I asked, because the last couple times that happened I never got a call back. Oh definitely, I'll call you back right away. Can you guess whether or not they called me back? A month passes and I call back again and ask to speak to the manager. Explain the whole situation again. Now he has to try and find the person who supposedly delivered my package, and says he'll call me back. I actually did get a call back this time the next week from a different person, who told me what I already knew - that according to the tracking, the package was delivered (although not to my house). She says the mailman who did this no longer works there (every time I call it seems the last person I talked to or last mailman no longer works there - very high turnaround). Her only solution was for me to pay extra for signature confirmation, which is also a hassle because I work during the day and now my roommates will have to sign for them (assuming they'll even wait for a roommate to answer the door and not just automatically leave a note). The funny thing is, I was already going to leave this place a poor review before that ever happened, because of my first experience at the physical location. I went on a weekday where it was overcrowded, understaffed, trash overflowing, no AC, and the lady working there wouldn't let me use her pen. But I've been there since then and those aspects have improved. read more

This is the most unresponsive USPS to deal with regarding trying to get some resolution for mailing a letter that had a $ 50 bill in it and was never delivered. Person on phone identified herself as Susan Brooks and advised she was the post office manager for the Springfield location. Her attitude was demeaning and advised my $.58 postage on any mailing only guarantees a letter/correspondence is mailed and nothing further. I find this totally unacceptable that as consumers we have to pay extra to guarantee the post office does its job. No wonder the US Postal Service is in its current financial dilemma. Typical example of employees not wanting to take pride in doing their job in the most efficient and responsible manner to their customers. I find it hard in this technological world that the USPS does not have some tracking for regular mail other than paying for extra services. I specifically delivered this letter to the Post office rather than leaving it in my mailbox for the mail carrier. I would hate to think a postal employee at this location would have hijacked the letter by having means to know there was cash in the envelope. It makes me want to characterize postal employees as thieves and lazy when they don't have any consideration for customer service. read more

I like to think that I'm I nice person who carries my southern hospitality everywhere I go, but today was NOT the day!! On my lunch break I went to the Post Office to complete a Forwarding Address form and the lady from behind the counter THROWS me the form! I can't tell you the last time I've had something thrown at me. I told that lady I don't care what type of day she was having you will not throw anything at me. Before things got escalated, another lady graciously helped me and gave me the utmost respect. On my way out, I walked over to the lady and let told her if she was having a bad day she should have called out and that it's considered very rude to throw something at another person - let alone a customer. I just moved here not too long ago. I have never in my life have had any packages lost even when moving from apartment to apartment. I was suppose to receive a package and when I was tracking it, it said "undeliverable as addressed". I called customer service and they said I had the right address. I do not understand why they did not send me my package. I highly doubt it was the snow since my entire street and driveway was completely plowed clean. I have been trying to call all day and their line is always busy. I might not even get my package in time for my son's 2nd birthday. This branch loses or steals packages. When the office gets crowded the postal employees encourage customers to drop off prepaid packages in a designated area. The USPS doesn't issue the receipts for the packages dropped off in that manner. We followed the instructions and left 4 prepaid packages in the office. Three packages were properly scanned and delivered. The fourth package was never scanned and disappeared while in custody of that USPS branch. When we came 4 days later to look for it the employee told us they don't have it. She advised to file the [insurance] claim online but since we don't have any record that the post office accepted our package, we obviously won't collect the insurance money. Always get the receipt when dealing with this branch or risk losing your package. Please never follow their instruction to drop off the package and leave. The personnel are beyond rude, unwilling to assist with anything other than treating their customers with contempt, have absolutely no professionalism, and seem to take pride in verbalizing their disdain for being annoyed and put out by having to deal with people in need of postal services they are getting paid to render. Service has been EXCELLENT until today. This has been my post office since 1991. Today, half my mail was in my townhouse mailbox, and was dry. The other half, mostly magazines, 1 catalog, and my prescription medicine were left in the rain and got very wet. Luckily the medicine was in a plastic Tyvek bag. read more

3 Customers Locked Inside by PO Staff I arrived at 4:45 to buy envelopes and mail two letters via certified mail. Two staff were working that day. One had a customer, but the other, a black, gray-haired person with a name badge of Sylvia, was sitting by her mailer talking. The talking continued for more than five minutes. I started giving Sylvia dirty looks, so the lady she was talking to finally left. Since the other staff was still with a customer, I had Sylvia, so I told her it was about time. She got snippy, held up a yellow signed card, apparently with the other customer's name on it (?) and yelled that she was talking to her neighbor and that young people don't know anything. Her behavior was extremely unprofessional, rude and discriminating. After she commented about my age, I asked for her manager's name, which she refused to provide. I called the post office number, and a woman I could see behind Sylvia answered and refused to provide the manager's name. Presumably seeing me on the phone, she hung up and came to the lobby, stating she was a supervisor, Joan. I explained how Sylvia treated me, but Joan just stood there, enabling Sylvia to talk and behave that way. I was left to defend myself, so of course, I verbally defended myself. Apparently, only the staff are allowed to be rude and exercise free speech, because Joan started locking the doors with three of us customers still inside. I tried leaving, only to find the doors locked and yelled for her to let me out of the office, and that she can't lock the doors while we were stil inside. Joan said she could do whatever she wanted and she would open the doors when the police arrived. LOL All of a sudden, a man came out to the lobby claiming he was the manager. I told him that I asked for him over 10 minutes ago, but Joan and Sylvia refused to call him. The manager did not tell Sylvia to unlock the doors. So, the only way I was able to escape the post office was by calling the police. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible customer service!!!! Probably the worst PO in Northern Virginia. Every time I go there, the line is long, moving slowly and customer service clerks are very rude and always have attitude. When they serve you, they make you feel like they giving you a huge favor! When you ask something, they look at you like you're stupid! I just went there about a month ago to ship a small package. I always use "if it fits it ships" packages and there was always the same price. This time the clerk told me it would be almost twice as much as I'd always pay.I was shocked and of course, I ask her "why was it so expensive this time?" She looked at me with the sarcastic face like I was stupid or smth and just asked me in response whether I wanted to ship the package or not. I asked her again why the price changed so much. She looked at me again and repeated again whether I wanted to send my package or not. No explanation, no nothing! 0 customer service skills! Clearly, your client is confused and asked you smth. Don't just ignore your customer, at least answer in a normal way. Gush, I work at customer service myself and if Id provide customer service like this to my customers, I don't think Id last there a day. Worse customer service EVER from the passport facility agent, Jamie. Not friendly at all, lacks customer service skills, not helpful. Obviously didn't want to be there or help customers. Acted as though she was doing me a favor processing my application. News flash....That is her job! Told the manager of my experience and she just shrugged her shoulders and walked away! Now I know why the agent has the attitude that she does, the manager doesn't care either and obviously lacks customer service skills too. Thank goodness that was a onetime experience with which I had to deal with them. If you want your passport application to be processed I strong suggest you go to another passport acceptance facility. read more

I normally do not write reviews, especially negative ones. But I wanted a chance to tell the world NOT to go to this post office. No wonder the USPS is constantly getting run over by competitors like UPS and FedEx. This was my first and LAST trip to this particular post office. The short version of this awful visit was the lack of customer service. Don't speak to me as if I am an uneducated tool. I simply wanted to mail a small gift to my sister and the postal worker acted like I was the biggest dumbass in history because I didn't know where the padded envelopes were kept, since it was my very first time at this location. Sorry, I usually go to UPS where they will pack it for you, not give you an attitude about it. In addition, the postal worker also snapped at me because I swiped my Visa BEFORE she was ready and told me that 'I was making her life harder' - and it wasn't in a joking way. Whatever. The point is that I'll be going to another post office next time or just carry my happy ass to UPS. That's where the real service is! read more

For an entire month I have been trying to change my address with this post office. I'm seven months pregnant and am trying to move our entire home by myself to our new location in Sterling while my fiance is deployed in Iraq. So to save myself some time, I did my change of address application online. I noticed that my mail was still being sent to my old address when I had to return to our old home to give my landlord the keys. So once again, I went online, paid the fees for both me and my fiance, and submitted the change of address form. I've been living in my new home for two weeks now (fiance is still deployed) and I have yet to receive any of our mail. I went to the post office in Sterling and submitted a change of address form in person and was told my mail wouldn't come for another week, but to call the Springfield office and speak with the supervisor to double check that everything was turned in. I called the Springfield office this morning, spoke with a male supervisor and was essentailly told that there was nothing he could do for me because he didn't have access to the online database. He told me that I needed to drive the 40 minutes one-way in order to check my mail at my old house if I wanted to receive any of my mail. Word of advice: don't change your address online. Clearly no one monitors the system and apparently even a supervisor can't access it. Not even sure why it's an option since it doesn't even work. I wasn't even offered a reimbursement for the fees that I was charged in order to change my address. read more
