So nice. I just walked out of the Larkspur usps where the woman there was acting salty for zero reason. I would rather drive another 10 minutes to have the ability to drop my daily packages off without a hassle. I've been using click n ship for business for YEARS, and every post office allows people who have labeled and prepped packages to LEAVE THEM. San Rafael didn't just let me leave them, they greeted me kindly across the huge room and asked if they could take my pre-labeled packages before I even got up close. I'll happily drive to San Rafael for nice people any day. I'm bummed that Corte Madera is shut down right now. I'll never step foot in Larkspur USPS again. I can see that being trouble after just 2 interactions. read more

Only the worst of the worst chooses to be overtly abusive towards customers who politely ask them to do a better job. Postal delivery isn't rocket science but clearly the employees here certainly think it is. Forcing a disabled person, who lives on a very limited income and has limited accessibility to public transportation (which is a joke in Marin), to walk to the postal branch (over 10 miles) to pick up mail your employees can not seem to figure out how to deliver to a customers front door, knock on that door and get a signature is cruel just to start with!!! What are customers paying for? Ineptitude not delivery to start. Well I reported EVERYTHING. The outgoing mail not being picked up for multiple days at a time, the lack of care in delivery - my neighbors constantly getting someone else's mail, and the lack of basic care in delivering a package which needs a signature. The carrier either cannot read or is just lazy. The supervisor of the branch doesn't seem to understand how to be a supervisor or hold employees accountable for their ineptitudes. The supervisor focused on only one of the three major problems myself and my neighbors are experiencing. Genius!! . Well this will hopefully with the Regional Supervisors involvement this all change for the better for every customer in my area soon. Putting a persons health at risk because your employees can't get their shit together is going to bite, especially if something like a medical emergency happens while I'm trying to get to the branch to get my mail, MAIL THAT MY PHYSICIAN PAID EXTRA FOR TO ENDURE DELIVERY!!!! As I expressed to the person on the phone taking my complaint (a wonderfully understanding person) those papers not being delivered in a timely manner are delaying my access to medical care and if something bad happens while I am attempting to retrieve my mail or for some inane reason my mail is not available to be picked up tomorrow at the branch I have little doubt, it's going to go exceptionally poor on those at this branch involved. UPDATE TODAY 330pm - I got a call from the Regional Supervisor. We will see just how effective she is in dealing with these inane issues. Good luck to her. UPDATE TODAY. Aug 11. It took me hours to hobble to this branch to pickup the mail which should have been delivered, due to my disability I had exhausted myself and had to get a cab. As I see it USPS owes me $50. to reimburse my cab fare and an apology. UPDATE 14 August - I just got notice for the first time EVER, that someone tried using my banking info fraudulently. The ONLY NEW PLACE I USED MY CARD WAS HERE. Pretty sus. No accusations, but a pretty odd coincidence. I got a call which went to voicemail. The carrier apparently was asked about contact attempts. Of course they claimed they had knocked several times...if this was true, why leave the orange notice in my mailbox and not at the door LIKE EVERY OTHER TIME THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED NO MATTER WHERE I WAS LIVING OR STAYING. I call LLPOF!!! Why did the Supervisor not mention issues with mail not being picked up, regularly? All the mail not delivered to the proper address causing my neighbors to leave a note pleading for the carrier to please take more care in deliveries. Who here is surprised the carrier did not own up to not making any effort to contact me, what about the second day when I requested a second attempt...apparently that was left out of the conversation as it was not mentioned. I will be bringing these points up the the regional director on Monday, I'm betting I get to hear lots of crickets of excuses. Cameras are being installed within the next few months, no more just taking someone's word about how they did their job when clearly this was not the case. read more

Kimberly remembered me as a long time customer and busted in to help. I am a disabled veteran and I was having trouble figuring out how to work the process for getting a passport and getting the information correct and applying the photo and so on. She knew everything and took very careful steps to make sure everything was filled out correctly and properly before we mailed it. She was so instrumental and getting that envelope in the mail today. What a wonderful representative for the Postal Service. And to think that she remembered me being a customer years ago when I lived in the city. What a memory and a great smile and a welcoming attitude. read more

A couple of months ago I was sent to this location to authenticate me for the government. They claimed they didn't do it. That is not true. I went to D Street and they did it. Today I went to this location because I need to replace a USPS mailbox key. They told me to hire a locksmith. That is illegal. This review is only for the passport office. AMAZING! I went to the office in Novato first - what a flipping JOKE! The man never looked up at me, he tore all my papers apart and motioned for me to pay. Um, no. Then he told me I could go elsewhere - so, I drove to San Rafael. Agnes, I think that's her name. So knowledgeable, so kind, so supportive!! We talked about where I might go, as I had no plans, but a passport was on my bucket list. Not only that, but, I got my and passport card in TWO weeks! Yes, two weeks, REGULAR service. There's no other place in Marin I'd rather go. This woman was so helpful, and the service over all was faster than expected. I liked the privacy of it all too, we actually went in to the passport office. In Novato, they do it at the window in front of all the US Postal customers, very weird. read more

The absolute worst. Appointments are now required for passport services, which is great! My husband and I planned far in advance to schedule an optimal time to (1) both take off work and (2) take a potty training toddler in for her first passport. We arrived promptly at our appointment time at 10:30a, only to be told that the passport officer was on break. We waited until well after 11a before we were seen. Another family arrived for their 10:45a appointment and was also waiting with two small children. Why on earth would they accept appointments during the time of an employee's scheduled break? Our 15-minute appointment slot turned into 50 minutes, making our kid miserable (no public restrooms) and both of us late for meetings. The also didn't like my photocopy of the birth certificate and charged me $1 to make their own copy (something that I wouldn't normally rant about, but was certainly the icing on the sh*t cake that was this experience). AVOID AT ALL COST. read more

4 stars only because the process is totally fubar'd. If you're walking in on Saturday, show up before 7am. We showed up at 745am, 15 mins before opening and were 35th in line. They give out numbers to those in line and maybe you'll get seen. In any case, Agnes is a saint. She's the only one working and takes pictures, copies, and submits the applications. She worked 8am straight thru lunch and past 1pm until 230 and beyond to process everyone who was in line. If you have your documents in line and pictures already taken, you'll be in and out in 10 mins, once your number is called. We waited for 7.5 hours for 10 minutes of dealing with her, but it was worth it because it got done. Just be prepared to spend the day there if you don't wanna get up super early. read more

I'll cut to the chase right now and let you know, in case you don't want to read the whole thing, the US Passport office in the Central San Rafael United States Post Office on Bellam in San Rafael offers stellar service. Keep in mind one desk clerk is offering walk-in passport service 5 days a week from 8am-1pm to serve ALL OF MARIN COUNTY, the staff can't even dream of doing a better job. Now, the community people that frequent the US Passport office in Central San Rafael - they are a piece of work. I have never seen such an obnoxious, self-serving, inconsiderate bunch of people in my life. You look at these people it is no wonder the world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket.... So, rule number one, if you are in need of a passport is to recognize two things - when dealing with, well, anything in the metro Bay Area, and especially the government, it will ALWAYS take longer than anticipated. Number two - it is always best to be as prepared as possible. The first thing I did was check the internet. According to the US State Department's website (since they are the issuing agency, I'm going to go out on a limb and say their word is good), the ONLY game in town offering walk-in service for US passports is San Rafael Main on Bellam. The site also offers information on EVERYTHING you will need to renew your passport - forms, how many copies (and forms of acceptable) ID - everything - down to the fact if you are going to use ink, you need to use dark blue, or black ink, subject to the acceptance of the Post Office Staff. So, once you figure all that out, the hunt is on to satisfy all the requirements BEFORE you walk in the door. One small note, when printing documents from home, make sure they printed one page EACH PAGE. They do not except 2 on one page (front and back). If you follow these steps, I guarantee your trip will be no more than 10 minutes, from walking in the door to walking out. Witness today, the day we went to the post office first thing in the morning to renew 2 passports. The person directly in front of us needed her passport yesterday. No, literally in two weeks. So instead of going to the District Office in San Francisco like the State Department recommended, this person brought herself, Grandma & three kids to the passport office in San Rafael. Literally she parked (sat down) in front of the passport office door and started arranging her papers for her family right there. Yup. With a 30-foot table, literally steps away from the door, she just parks her and her stuff and starts spreading EVERYTHING in front of the Passport Office door. Once in the door, she proceeds to tie up the whole office for probably about an hour. And then very close to the end of the transaction, with standing room only in the lobby, buys stamps from the passport clerk. So inconsiderate I could hardly believe my eyes. In spite of the clueless customer, the actual Postmaster (Manager of the whole deal), came out to the lobby to alleviate the lobby traffic, which by now had grown to one big, grouchy, standing room only bunch. Of course, my family was the one that absolutely had to pay the most in this case, as we were the customers immediately following inconsiderate Mom & her family. We waited a little less than three hours to get our passports, from arrival to finish - we were in the office to hand in our papers and pay our fee for less than 10 minutes. Ugh. To be fair, the inconsiderate Mom maybe didn't want to drag three kids plus Grandma to San Francisco to get her business done, I mean, who would want to do that, but considering the uproar she caused in the lobby because of how long her transaction took, it was fairly disgusting. But then, I guess she'll never run into us again...so why be considerate? read more

Dept now suggests: - I go back to San Rafael - Resubmit the application, making sure the agent does every thing right - Obtained a sealed envelope with the completed application enclosed within - Fly to TUCSON -as there are not appointments in SF - as Tucson does not have same-day processing, spend a night there and get the passport the next day. I can totally understand the clerk counter job in USPS is very systematic, unfulfilling and boring. and I try to be polite as possible to the counter staff at the USPS location. But if you don't like your job, then why keep doing it, like the employee of this USPS. Service is truly unreliable, if you ask the same question to differ counter clerk you will get differ answer. it seems they don't even know how to do their job, If you have a large heavy package to mail, the clerk they will show very unwelcome manner. I went there 3 times to mail a package that is 18X18X24 moving box to Hawaii. First time they said box too big, all those the box I use (Sell by uhaul) clearly state it is 18X18X24" and is clearly under the 108" Girth dimension, But clerk state the dimension they put on Uhaul box is wrong and no matter what will not take it. Second time, I went back 2 days later repackage the stuff into a smaller box, 18X18X20" waited another 20 minutes, now they said the Stamp.com label I put on was 3 days ago and they can only accept package that is dated within 2 days. The clerk is stubborn as rock no choice but give up, and really the reason why the label was 3 days old is because they will not accept the my first attempt of using the 18X18X24 box. Which is clearly under the 108 girth length. Third time, after void and reprint the label then they finally take it. Totally waste my time and their time, I hope USPS can file chapter 11 and reorganize into a more efficient unit. read more

I've gone here a few times. And I can sum up this post office in one insult/sentence: *cue Comic Book Guy voice* Worst. Service. EVER. 1) The line is out the door. All the time. Want something done? This is an awful post office. The staff is utterly robotic. The music loud and horrible, BUT worse yet, the other day I shipped a book. I wanted tracking. Clerk # 21 INSISTED it cost extra for tracking, $1.05. Then I shipped another book today--went to the Corte Madera Post Office and the clerk there said sending books media mail already includes tracking. So Clerk # 21--apparently by design--swindled me. Since he's an old guy, I doubt he would not have know. Is a post office rated on how much money they earn? Is swindling a way to earn more money? It is in a super pain-in-the-derriere location where a lot of traffic jumbles up on the ramps to/from 101, but there is ample parking. In fact, there were 2 identical midnight blue Teslas in the parking lot. After I mailed my stuff, I saw those Teslas. And I wanted to run back inside and yell, "WHOSE TESLAS ARE THOSE??? You're twins!" But I would have felt like a poor imbecile. As for the line and service, they were adequate. Kinda slow, but at least the postal workers are nice. read more

Some of the employees seem polite, but the passport processing is extremely slow, and the guy doing the passports seems to take pleasure in finding anything he possible can wrong. Even if nothing is wrong, he goes extra slow and makes you do all sorts of unnecessary steps. I would guess only 8-10 passports could ever get processed in a day. 5 stars for our Greenbrae carrier. He's even gone on his own to hunt down packages he suspected were misdelivered by the substitute carrier. 3.5 stars for the actual post office. I have give this post office a single star for the following reasons 1. According to my tracking number on a recent package my package arrived at their facility and was to be then sent to the civic center location and on to my home...they have gone on to lose my package in their facility. 2. I have tried to contact them by phone but it NEVER rings. It is always busy which leads me to believe that they just take it off the hook. It is far too much of a coincidence for it to be busy all day long and every time I call. 3. When coming into the office on any occasion the postal works are never friendly and definitely never smile.
