Great small town Post Office. Housed in an old train station, it's the hub of town and you'll…read moreeventually run into anyone you know while there. The staff are helpful and kind. We all know the USPS has it's problems, but they do right if you give them half a chance.

The post master is straight up mean…read more I'm supposed to be able to get a free PO box because I live in a location where the post office does not deliver mail. Point Reyes Station is the most convenient location for me since it's only a few miles from my work, and (unlike the Inverness location) has enough open hours for me to stop by before or after work. I'm a seasonal worker for the government. I've been all over the Pacific Northwest, and never found a post office that wasn't eager and excited to help me out-- until now. The worker at the front counter was actually really nice. She told me she has family from Folsom. We had a nice little chat, then she went to grab the post master to ask her what to put down for my physical address. A blond woman with a Russian accent who identified herself as the post master was very rude to me. She did nothing but look for excuses not to help me. On top of being rude, she was super incompetent. Based on the way she treated me, I would have thought she had never met someone with my same job before. I came prepared with my passport, lease agreement, employee ID, and more. Per the application, my passport and lease agreement should be enough. She gave me the third degree about my physical address. I showed her what it said on my lease. I showed her where I live on Google Maps. Again, she acted as if she'd never heard of my employer or worked with someone from my work before. She told me that only one person per location can get a free PO box, meaning that I would have to give another unrelated adult unfettered access to my mail, which I am not okay with. I begged her to help me until I had to walk out because I was about to cry. I need a PO box in order to adult and basically keep my whole life from falling apart. When I vented my frustrations to my colleagues, I found out that this particular post master has a huge reputation for being rude to staff. She's infamous. I called the post office to file a formal complaint, as I feel that her refusal to work with me violates the law. If you want to be treated with competence and kindness, steer clear of this post master.
