1/20/25 Finally found a post office with a mail box.... Can only fit like 2 letters at a time. I have 5 inches of letters to mail!

3 of 3 USPS similar reviews. This was my usual SL USPS, but I was not in the area and Googled the closest one to me at the time; what a fail. Quality/Quantity - Keep in mind I am grading on a curve... The low rating is due to the comparison with all the other Post Offices that I frequent... See other reviews; Reno (3 Stars) and Alameda (4 stars). The lobby is not open 24/7. I guess I am spoiled with my Alameda and Reno post offices. I made the mistake on the 1/20/25 (a holiday) of trying to drop off letters (5 inches worth; I know, due to my travels, I have not checked my mail for a long time) and a package in 3 SL post offices. Atmosphere - Decent size lobby. Homeless here, hence the closure during non business hours. Plenty of parking.. One way in and out. Well it is supposed to be... They have a very secure letter mail drop off, see picture. Too bad I was only able to put 1-2 letters at a time. And no place to drop off my package. Going to the Alameda USPS tomorrow. Service - 2, barely good enough. Barely even any self service... Price - N/A, see their websites. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1971 (formed in Washington DC) with your $80B in revenue. Much controversy about your profitability or lack of it. This is an "independent" agency of the executive branch of our US government. You have an amazing history dating back to 1775, but I will not go into that here.

Friendliest USPS I've ever been too, friendly, patient and caring. Also helped clients in spanish which was very nice of them. Their service was truly outstanding and professional.

This is main post office I go to since it's the closest one to me!! I usually go to the drive through drop off mail, but when I did have to go inside for something, I used to see long slow lines, but they have gotten a lot better with that. They seem better organized than they were before, which is a good thing. Keep up the good work!!!

Regular post office except that the clerk LORETTA is unnecessarily obnoxious and rude even when you go in and are purposely overly nice to prevent any toxic interactions. Normal questions about how the mail works is met with a smart, crude response. The type of obnoxious and rude where it must be that she is inherently unhappy with her life. Seriously, it's her, not you, just so you know.

They had two windows open for assisting regular processing with card vs. cash. I believe it was that if you were planning to pay with cash, you would be able to be processed at the 3rd window, probably no cash rap there. The inside was small, but neat and organized. The line did have more people than I was expecting. Nice mix of individuals. Castro Valley is a small town and I got that feeling here, but at least its not a complete ghost town. The parking lot was also full the first time I entered. Saw a spot as I was coming out of the lot, but would have had to circle back to get it and there were already 2 cars entering from the other side. Luckily, I found a spot on the street. If I couldn't find parking, my next check would have been to park at The Village and walk over. The man who helped me was very kind and processed 5 small parcels that I needed shipped to the Greater Los Angeles region. They costed more than I was anticipating though, but the deed needed to be done. I was always fond of the drive thru mail drop off boxes as a kid- it was always super fun and didn't take long at all where you're able to go about your day. Something I've heard through the grapevine is that it might be best to bring the items inside to be mailed as there could be evil people who have nothing better to do than to potentially steal mail from outside mailboxes.

In this case it was a rare vinyl of which only 1,000 copies exist in the whole wide world. I left A CLEAR REQUEST to simply deposit it in the shade box which was 3 feet away. A friendly sign stated: "ATTN: USPS...PLEASE PLACE THIN, SQUARE (12 X 12 X 0.5) PACKAGE IN SHADED BOX PLEASE (arrow indicating location of box) *item sensitive to heat. THANK YOU!!!" I know my carrier is familiar with this shade box because they left every single other package which is not vulnerable to sunlight in it over the last 2 weeks (despite those parcels not being as described on the sign). The one package that mattered? They walked past the shade box, took down my sign, and placed it right on top of the clear and friendly sign I left, in the sunlight. This indicates maliciousness and intent, which if that is in their heart, I feel sorrow for them. It's a hard, often thankless job and I have always respected and supported the USPS. My support remains, despite this (seemingly) intentional action to destroy my package. I never complained about the last two records, because in those instances I did not leave a sign with a simple request, so I accept the blame for the prior two instances. This record is rare and irreplaceable, so I made this reasonable request to ensure it's safety. I'm aware this complaint sounds entitled, and ultimately trivial, but I will not apologize for my feelings. I allow myself a few purchases a year, just for me, just to feel like I am living for more than just survival. This record was important to me. It's not available on streaming, only through physical media, and listening to it would have provided me the rare spark of joy that would keep me running on this hamster wheel. Now I have only a warped and ruined totem, laughing at me as if to remind me that my purpose is only to thanklessly toil and struggle.
