I had a electric scooter I bought from Amazon Prime. They sent me a ticket to have UPS To send the return. At the Redwood UPS store in Castro Valley. They told me " we are sorry, We don't have box's that big." I googled UPS Stores close to me. Another store Popped up saying WE ARE THE PACKING SPECIALIST FOR UPS. The store name is Postal Annex. Fast and friendly! I was really happy with the service at this postal annex. I recently needed to get several documents notarized and (of course) it was last-minute. At some other businesses (looking at you UPS), the notary experience was flaky at best; at times, it was surprisingly hard to find someone to do the service. I was able to call and confirm with the super-friendly notary and then drop by. We actually had a pretty good conversation too during the document process. She warned me that this could cause it to be sent back, and helped me to repack the shipment into the right type of box and send it off. There's a reason they have 5 stars. From the minute we walked in (my 3 year old and I) , service was superb- which can be rare nowadays. So grateful for their service, kindness and efficiency. This 5 star review is long overdue. The short (kinda short) version. The wonderful lady that mostly runs the place makes me feel warm n fuzzy meaning I adore her lol! She has been helping me since the pandemic when I started selling things and had no idea what I was doing. If my husband is there he is my savior but when he's not she more than nice & helps me without making me feel like I'm tech illiterate lol which I AM!! It can be busy but still goes fast considering her multitasking skills are impeccable. The other workers are great also it may be family ran but I'm not sure. I've gone to the Postal Annex in union city and got treated shitty plus my package came back :(. If only there was customer service like this location at every facility the world would be a brighter place! I have been using this Postal Annex for over a year, and I have to say that I am very satisfied with the service and my mail box. I have used their copy machine regularly, as well as UPS, FedEx and UPS service since I closed my office in San Francisco in July 2020 because of the pandemic. I also get all my keys made there. I get friendly and fast service every time. I explored other options before going with their mail box. The competitor in town is The UPS Store. This Postal Annex is by far the better. It's a family owned business and I am treated well. Inas, the owner, and Mina are very customer oriented and are always finding ways to provide value and improve their service. I had a pmb with postal annex when I lived down in San Diego, which was fantastic. They gave you keys, allowed you to access your mailbox 24 hours a day, and everyone that worked there were super friendly, understanding, very informative, and upfront with any costs/fees etc. the location in Castro valley..... is underwhelming to say the least. When I had first called to open a mailbox with them, they initially tried to charge me an outrageous monthly fee, and after speaking to several different locations, I called back to which the woman agreed to honor the same promotion at that location. I had asked at the time If it would be the same rules that I had in San Diego. Mainly that I'd be able to access it whenever I was able to(24/7 access) and that I would be contacted whenever a package had arrived for me. I found out after months that there is no access after business hours. And they close really early every day, sometimes earlier than what is stated on their website. I've definitely shown up about 15-20min before closing on several occasions only to find out they closed early, and the door are locked. Recently, I needed to make some copies, and preemptively called to get the rates of how much it would cost to get computer access to resize images, make some copies as well as get something laminated. The girl on the phone gave me the rates, so I went in to do what I needed to do, only to realize they have no software on their computer to resize images. I spent over 15 minutes looking up different ways to be able to do that on the only 2 applications they had available only to find out that I would either have to download something else or use a web service. (Mind you neither one of them even acknowledged my presence there let alone asked if I was in need of any assistance) Well they ended up charging me a large fee saying that Use of the computer over 10 minutes costs an extra amount which I was never told on the phone. I also cut the edges of the laminate to have it rounded and the entire thing fell apart. When I told the younger female employee this, she instantly got annoyed, spoke to me like I was stupid like I should know that if I were to do that it would fall apart. Last I checked when you get something laminated it should be fully encapsulated? She then condescendingly told me that I should have printed my documents double sided on one paper. Being fed up at this point, I asked her to do it for me (I had already spend far more time than I should have researching on my own how to resize a damn image on their ancient computer and would be damned if I get charged again for being on the computer trying to figure that out. Since she seemed so sure that I was the idiot for not thinking of that in the first place, and it being her patronizing suggestion, I didn't think there would be a problem. She then suddenly, and aggressively has a bunch of excuses. Her:" I DONT EVEN KNOW WHERE THE IMAGES ARE." Me:" they're saved on the desktop right there. " her: "WELL WHAT DID YOU DO TO RESIZE THE IMAGE?" I just... couldn't help but laugh at that point. Her manager comes over finally and explains that it would be too difficult to do, and they try to relaminate the ones I already tried to laminate, and gave me the most crooked, worst laminating job I've literally ever seen in my lifetime. And charged me for it! I'm not an unreasonable person. I only want a business to be straightforward with me, fair, and knowledgeable about the services offered. Competency is definitely not the strong suit of this particular location. At least not the younger pretentious rude one that works there. If you insist on going to this location, don't even bother with the little one and speak with the more mature woman. While I was waiting I overheard the young one argue with multiple customers trying to nickel and dime them for every little thing. As a business owner, this is extremely terrible business practice. If the owner of this location wants the store to stay in business, they really need to reevaluate the staff they have, and teach/learn to be more conscious of basic customer service. read more
