I strongly advise against returning items at the UPS location in Castro Valley. I had a very frustrating and concerning experience there. I returned multiple items, but Amazon only showed that half of them were received. When I contacted Amazon support, they confirmed that only part of my return was processed. Even though I had my receipt and provided the exact return location, they said they had no way to verify the missing items or investigate further. As a result, I was never refunded for everything I returned. Based on this experience, I highly suspect that items may be going missing at this location, which raises serious concerns about how returns are being handled. Management should take this seriously: improving monitoring and oversight of the return process could help prevent situations like this and protect customers. Please be cautious if you're considering using this location, the receipt alone may not be enough to protect you. read more

I am writing to file a complaint regarding an employee named Jennifer at the UPS Store located at 20885 Redwood Road, Castro Valley, CA. Incident happen August 18, 2026 around 1:30 Pm During my visit, I had questions and was simply trying to get clarification about notary. Unfortunately, Jennifer was sarcastic in the way she responded to me. Her tone was disrespectful and made me feel uncomfortable as a customer. Her body language appears to be very unwelcoming, . Showing a lack of interest in providing me information about notary. I understand that employees may have busy or stressful days, but customers should still be treated with courtesy and professionalism. I would appreciate it if UPS could look into this incident and address the employee's behavior. Also, I would like to receive a written explanation from the store on the action plan regarding this complaint I hope this can be addressed so other customers do not have a similar experience. This ups store is not great. The service is extremely slow. The people at the counter are very friendly!! Sometimes too friendly-- they spend a lot of time socializing with each customer and the line gets long. However, my primary complaint is that the location has a terrible design. The door opens out-- so when you're carrying in a huge package to ship, it's impossible to open the door. It should swing both ways. And, there's never a trash can available. read more

I really want to love this place because it's close to my house which is very convenient but what stop me is the 'service' They are slow and never made me feel welcome. I come here so often. All these Amazon returns. Lol. Also I sometimes ship packages to my friends that are in various states. The cost usually isn't that bad when I ship things out. Every time I come here, I always leave happy / pleased. They are sometimes pretty busy with a long line, but they work efficient and I don't have to usually wait that long. I had one of the worst experiences ever with this shipping company. I shipped extremely important documents on 4/20, and the package was supposed to arrive on 4/24. Until today, it still has not arrived, and it is very obvious that the package has been lost. I tried every possible way to get help or find a solution, but there has been absolutely no concern, urgency, or real support from the company. I visited the shipping office multiple times and called several times as well, but nothing was done except that the manager filed a claim. Since then, there has been no update, no communication, and no accountability from anyone. What makes this situation even worse is that I still cannot reach a real responsible person directly to discuss this issue. Losing these important documents has caused me severe stress and anxiety, and it has also negatively affected my job application process. I never expected such a careless and unprofessional experience. This company clearly does not care about people's important shipments or the damage they cause to customers' lives. Look no one reviews a UPS store because they want to, but with this store I felt like I had to. This was one of the most pleasant, clean, and professional UPS's that I've accidentally stepped foot in. I didn't interact much with the staff because I was dropping off a package, but I did observe how they helped everyone else. The woman in particular helping people with notary service was sweet and patient with everyone that came through, while the staff were diligent and informative. There was no one in-line when I walked in. There were 5 employees working when I walked in. There was only one employee helping a customer with Passport Photo. There was one woman who was taking to her friend for the entire 10 minutes that I was in-line. The line grew to 4 people waiting for help and this female employee just kept talking to her friend as if there was no customers in the store. I would have given Zero Stars if I the App allowed me. This is the worst UPS store. Everyone here is rude and not helpful. No matter you are returning Amazon package, drop off or pick up, they just don't wanna help you. They always try to sell you their UPS box. Do they make commission out of it? They don't accept any other boxes. also, they won't even borrow you some tape and scissors. We have to make our way to other UPS store and they will accept it. For pick up, I received email saying it's ready for pick up, when I get there, they said they are too busy to go thru stuff. Always fast, friendly and efficient. About 90% of my visits are due to Amazon returns. Sometimes there is a line but it's usually pretty quick even when customers have no idea how to pack their packages or even what QR code they need for their returns. The employees help them along the way. I always come in with my packages prepped and my QR code ready to scan. In return, I get a friendly greeting, a shipment receipt and I am on my way in a couple minutes or less. This isn't just my favorite UPS Store--it's my favorite retail business in the entire area. I've been coming here regularly for 1-2 years, and two employees, Shanya and Kat, make all the difference. Shanya is extraordinary. She handles the most stressed or frantic customers with patience and calmness, even during busy seasons! That level of grace under pressure is rare in customer service--she's a true gem. Kat is also wonderful: always kind, knowledgeable, and consistently reliable when it comes to packaging or shipping needs. It honestly saddens me that other UPS Stores have staff in the same roles, assumably paid the same, yet they offer nowhere near the stand out hospitality and professionalism that Shanya and Kat bring every day. Shanya, in particular, should be promoted so others can learn from her example. Both she and Kat deserve higher pay to reflect the exceptional value they provide. If they're being paid at the same rate as less dedicated employees elsewhere, that's an unnecessary unfairness--and it puts this store at risk of losing its best talent. To their manager(s): please re-evaluate their pay. Recognize them not just with words but with compensation. Shanya and Kat are the kind of employees who transform a store from "average" to "outstanding," and it would be a loss to see them go anywhere else. read more

I have read so many negative reviews about this place and I have to counter back. The staff is super helpful and friendly, despite being inundated by a lot of rude customers. I think a lot of those rude customers have posted complaints and brought down their score. To them I say... Check your expectations. I routinely go there at least once a week to return. Amazon returns. Super fast even with a long line. I have used them for notary services. Very organized and helpful to send out important legal documents quickly and assured with correct postage and address handling instructions. I also have used them for passport service services. Again, very good quality photos. Of course, I have used them to make copies of large volume on my home printer is not going to cut it. All in all, I am grateful for the staff and the location being open with very reasonable hours. I have appropriate expectations. I do not expect them to mail USPS products. I do not expect them to give me packing materials for free because everybody including USPS charges as well. And most of all I don't expect them to be kind to me if I walk in being a big-time jerk. Came in today Monday, 12/9/24 to return an item @ 5:30 pm. This UPS Location SUCKS. I ran out of packing tape and asked the girl at the counter if she can give me 12 inches of tape to tape up the box. She stated no! I would have to buy tape. It's $7.68. Are you serious? If it wasn't for the fact that Amazon required that I go to UPS to return the item, I would never go here. I would avoid this UPS location like the PLAGUE. Talk about nickel and diming your customers that bad. There are other UPS Locations that would be out if my way but I would rather go there and will in the future. Eh. It's a UPS store but not particularly helpful. They don't take USPS packages ("per owner franchise policy") which is the ONLY UPS I have come across, across country, that has this policy. You also can't just drop off a package if it's prepaid--- you have to wait in line for the cashier to scan and print a receipt. It's been nicely remodeled but that's about it. I prefer the postal chase up the street but if you have an Amazon drop off this is your only game in town. read more

I've been to this location a few times. Mostly to drop off packages and hubby gets fingerprints done at this location. Every time we do visit this location(we don't go here too often), there are different employees. I paid a visit to this location to get fingerprints done for myself. There was a young man, Lucky. I haven't seen great customer services in a while. He was professional, knowledgeable, and overall great work ethic. Hoping to see him again when we come back for other services. The worst UPS that I have ever experienced. I've stopped by here a few times and each experience has been horrible. My most recent visit, I used some tape to close my package and the lady is requiring to charge me $2. I don't mind paying but it's her demeanor and attitude that was intolerable. They are not friendly, rude, and I'm not sure how they even got their position in customer service. If you are the owner of this location, I advise for you to reconsider the staff you hire, since it's a poor representation of your establishment and company in its entirety. For management, I came here on 9/18 at around 11:50 am. There were 2 ladies. The other one that's not on the register has always been the rude one that I encounter. I will never come back here nor do I recommend anyone to. If you can go somewhere else, do yourself a favor and drive to the next location. It's worth the time. read more

RACISTS!!! The treatment I got this morning was unacceptable and had strong overtones of racism. I was 2nd in line to drop off a package, behind an elderly man who was moving slow. No big deal, I am a senior also so I get it. Not once did the clerk say, "Ill be with you in a minute" or even acknowledge the delay or me waiting in line. A second employee appeared to be wandering around doing nothing. She made eye contact with me on 4 different times and the best way I could describe it was a "scowl". Not, "good morning", nope, just a nasty/scowl (the hate was palpable) and then she'd look away each time. Just as the old man was finished (and it was my turn), a different customer (who had been working on a laptop maybe?) went to the counter asking for assistance. The clerk turned to me and said, "I'll be right back". WAIT A MINUTE... I was in line LONG before this third person went to the counter asking for help and the clerk was putting ME on hold (instead of taking the issues in order of the queue)! Clerk then told me I could check my package in by self-scanning. This is news to me but I tried it. Once the QR was scanned it asked for customer to put box in a plastic bag (provided). I reached for a bag in the "large" section and found the bag was too small for the box (the box was only 12"x6" x 3"!!!). I selected the prompt, "BAG DOES NOT FIT" and guess what? It directed me to go back to the counter. Hell no, I am not going to deal with that racist again. I rooted around and found the small bags had been put where the big bags go (big surprise) and was able to bag, seal and get a receipt. The racism in this store is palpable. The rudeness and lack of basic courtesy towards customers is evident. If the franchisee or owner reads this, please have some sensitivity and customer service training for the two women working the morning of 1/21/2025, their treatment towards me, the customer, was disgusting and egregious. read more

Come here frequently and am always met with bad attitudes and terrible customer service. I have used them for notarizing documents a few times. The wait is always long but today I was completely ignored. At 10:30 am there were 3 associates working and only 2 customers. I dropped my package and let the younger lady know I also need something notarized. She said the other lady would be right with me. The older lady who does the notaries was not busy, she was on her phone and looking around the store as she saw me waiting at the center counter for her. She then decides to take her break. I asked the younger associate if she knew how much longer it would be and she said no, the 3rd associate then says "she has to wait til her breaks over". Will be using another UPS store from now on. Idk how these 3 are still employed, they clearly hate their job. read more

Customer Service Training Needed If I spoke to customers the way I was spoken to the last two times I was in this UPS store, at the very least, I would be having a long conversation with my boss, if not altogether fired. I am a rule follower, so I didn't intend to do something wrong with my Amazon returns. I (not the UPS Store ) fixed both mistakes, but the disrespect I received from two different employees for making them was unnecessary. The first time came from a very young female employee, but I chalked it up to a bad day. Today, it came from an older female employee, and I decided not to let it go. I told her that I didn't like being lectured like I was seven years old who made a huge mistake every time I came here. Instead of apologizing, she says, "Well, I don't like having to do it." The best part? The very young employee was also working today. While I was fixing my mistake out of line, she turned to the lady who chastised me and said, "I'm going to quit. It's always great to have a UPS store nearby. They do come in very handy when you need to have something delivered in a rush. Most if not all locations have a notary on duty. Which I also make good use of. If you are familiar with the basic routine at UPS stores, then coming here is a breeze! I made an appointment for notary service on Saturday (2/18/23) for Monday (2/20/23), at 1:30PM. I also received appointment confirmation via email. However, I walked in at 1:25PM on Monday and I informed the staff that I was there for my notary appointment. The staff told me that the notary person was on lunch and would be back at 2:30PM. Okay, I made an appointment for 1:30PM but that's okay, I told her I'd come back after 2:30PM. I came back at 2:40PM and the staff told me that the person was still on lunch and I should come back in an hour... I told them that I was told to come back in an hour at 1:30PM but the staff just said "yeah, she's still on lunch." What was the point of making an appointment then? Almost everyone working here hates their job and they let you know it. They will openly argue in front of customers. There is always a wait. I paid a ridiculous amount to fax something and two of the pages didn't go through (cover page clearly stated how many pages it was). I didn't notice until I got home and the read the report page. I brought in paper to shred, they charged me and when I went to put it in the bin it was full. I had to wait in line again for a refund. read more
