Quality/Quantity - Keep in mind I am grading on a curve... The low rating is due to the comparison with all the other Post Offices that I frequent... I made the mistake on the 1/20/25 (a holiday) of trying to drop off letters (5 inches worth; I know, due to my travels, I have not checked my mail for a long time) and a package in 3 SL post offices. Atmosphere - Decent size lobby. Homeless here, hence the closure during non business hours. Plenty of parking.. One way in and out. Well it is supposed to be... They have a very secure letter mail drop off, see picture. Too bad I was only able to put 1-2 letters at a time. And no place to drop off my package. Going to the Alameda USPS tomorrow. Service - 2, barely good enough. Barely even any self service... Price - N/A, see their websites. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1971 (formed in Washington DC) with your $80B in revenue. Much controversy about your profitability or lack of it. This is main post office I go to since it's the closest one to me!! I usually go to the drive through drop off mail, but when I did have to go inside for something, I used to see long slow lines, but they have gotten a lot better with that. They seem better organized than they were before, which is a good thing. Keep up the good work!!! read more

Regular post office except that the clerk LORETTA is unnecessarily obnoxious and rude even when you go in and are purposely overly nice to prevent any toxic interactions. Normal questions about how the mail works is met with a smart, crude response. The type of obnoxious and rude where it must be that she is inherently unhappy with her life. They took away the drive through box so you can't drop off mail while in your car. What is reason for this decision??

There is no drive through mail slot here anymore so I went inside last Wednesday (6/12/24) and placed the Father's Day card I was mailing into the slot inside the building. Today is 6/20/24 and the card has still not been delivered to my father in law who lives in Forresthill, only 100 miles away. UPSP service is completely unreliable even though they keep raising the price of stamps! read more

I rarely go to the post office, but I stopped by this location. The line wasn't too bad as there were a couple of employees helping customers. The women who helped me were amicable. One woman took the time to answer my shipping questions and advised which would be the cheapest way to send my item. After reading other reviews on this location, I can tell you that not all of the staff are unprofessional and rude. I can understand where some may get that perception, but it really depends on who is helping you. I appreciated the woman's kindness and hope that it only spreads throughout the rest of the team. Hopefully the reviews that people leave, the business reads them to improve their service even more. For myself and probably many others, I am not the most knowledgeable about the postal system and what the various shipping methods/prices are. It might be helpful if the staff could show more patience towards customers and work together on educating each other and maybe this place might have more positive reviews. read more

My review keeps getting removed and that's not okay because reviews are meant to depict the true experience of the reviewer. That is what this platform is for and that is what I am doing here. On November 4th, 2024, the black lady named Loretta who works at the front desk, had an altercation with me that involved her screaming and cursing at me. This is very bad of her to do that with a customer because she is working in customer service and should display a great amount of professionalism and also respect. She started screaming at me just because I was questioning the Filipina lady who was about to scan my package on why she is asking me, "So, what's in the box?" I have been shipping items through USPS for my small online business for so many years and have never experienced a worker ask me a question like that. There are standard questions to be asked and what I was asked was not one of those standard questions. The standard questions involve them asking if you are shipping anything flammable, liquid, toxic or has mercury. They're not supposed to just ask you what's in the box like this is TSA or something. When I told the Filipina clerk that it was a book she looked at me and then at my package like she doubted what I was saying. I had to literally pull out the Mercari App and show her that I sold a book and that is the book that is in the box. I was utterly appalled. That is something I have never had to do before. I have gone to many other USPS post offices and I have always had a very pleasant experience. Except for this one on E 14th ST. I can definitely say it was a traumatizing experience going here and it will be my first and last time coming here. So after I expressed my frustration with the Filipina clerk for not allowing the package drop-off to go by smoothly, that is when Loretta jumped in from the register she was at right next to us and started screaming and cursing at me just because I had every right to express my frustration on why I was basically being interrogated about my package. It would have been better if she just focused on the customer that she had right in front of her instead of wanting to start a fight with me, a customer. So now going forward, I've been checking the tracking information since November 4th, and it has not left the post office at all. My suspicions are that the two female workers/clerks are responsible for making sure that my package didn't go through by tampering with it and/or stealing it. This definitely is not some weird coincidence. I went back to ask a different clerk if she could help me figure out anything about my package, she told me there is nothing she could do and that she didn't know why the tracking information wasn't updating. It really sucks because I'm not the only one that is being negatively affected by this, but also my customer will never receive the beautiful book that she purchased. Integrity is everything, and these workers here are showing that they really lack that. read more

I went in and asked a question regarding stamps and packages. The woman there claimed not to have ever heard of stamps for businesses and was extremely rude when answering my question about packages. How do you not know anything about stamps?! You work at the post office. Terrible service! I'll take my business to UPS down the street instead. They're much friendlier there. read more

Whoever the lady is that picks up the phone is really rude. The only reason they're getting 2 stars is because the guy who took over the phone call was very helpful. I understand that USPS is very busy, especially during Covid. A close family member of mine works for USPS. & I hear how hectic it has been since the beginning of Covid. I try to be as nice & understanding as possible to workers all over, I know horrible customer service when i experience it, whether it be over the phone, email or in person. My whole thing is, you chose to work in the customer service industry, even if it's a government job. If you hate it so much, don't take it out on the consumers who are trying to get help. read more

The South San Leandro US Post Office always has great service. I've come to this location for years and the customer service is always fast and consistent. The workers are welcoming and proactively helps customers send their mail/packages with the best options. It's a bonus that there's plenty of parking and drive through drop-off mailboxes in the front lot for customers' convenience. The holiday season gets extremely busy for this location. Sometimes lines are out the door. Don't freight, the USPS workers are great at what they do and usually gets through the line quick. The facility is always kept clean and organized with ample packing and shipping options to select from. read more

With all the bad reviews, I dreaded coming here especially that I know I always mess up which kind of box to use when shipping my sales from a buy and sell platform. So yeah, I did mess up, I had to re-pack the whole thing, I was bummed! Surprisingly though, one of the staff was actually kind enough to help me loom for the perfect-sized box, lent me a tape and a pair of scissors and patiently explained to me that the box that I need it a priority mailing box not a flat rate box. I wasn't able to catch her name, but she was heaven sent. I hope that customer service would always be like this. Parking has always been a breeze and there is a drop box located outside for smaller and lighter packages, which is convenient. There is also quite a number of P.O. boxes for rent. read more

I don't live in San Leandro, but my packages ALWAYS seem to come through here and ALWAYS get lost. Prescriptions? Lost. Multiple online orders? Lost. Family Christmas photos? Lost. Too many orders have been lost for it to be a coincidence, and in reading all the other reviews of "lost" packages, I'm fairly certain these things are just being stolen. Whether its by the employees within the building or the delivery driver(s)...it's absolutely unacceptable to lose packages in quantities like this. And forget calling to see where your package may be. There is either no help or it takes AGES to get through to anyone. Nothing is every followed up or resolved. There is a severe lack of professionalism and accountability. I think every San Leandro USPS needs to be more closely monitored to ensure that packages aren't getting "lost" like this. And perhaps the employees need to be more closely scrutinized too. read more

Speaking candidly, I appreciate employees in the service industry and especially being open during this COVID 19 situation. However, I have to write that this one postal worker (My**g) was extremely nasty during my visit. Dropping off a package and simply seeking for a receipt, she felt the need to belittle the customer and nitpick on how the box was slightly dented. In an effort to make life easier, the box was a re-used Amazon packaging. The contents were not anything significant, and boxing was unimportant. However, I tried to comply to her statements and asked where the USPS boxes are so I can re-box and ship. The worker refused to assist, did not help to offer options in which what can be done or even answer where the Flat Rate boxes are. Instead simply said, take this back and NEXT in a very loud dismissive tone. Ended up going to FedEx instead - at least they have better customer service even if it's more expensive. read more

I've witness a USPS employee yell at an Asian girl today for asking " can you please let me know how much express shipping cost ?" . USPS screamed at her like no one was around . Her actions today screams for disciplinary action from her boss . At no point in the conversation did I see the Asian girl was out of line . This is despicable , I feel horrible for the girl . Like everyone else says, if I could give this place negative stars I would. Majority of the time when I'm coming here to send something out after waiting an eternity in line, the employees are nice. Unfortunately for me, majority of the time I come here, it's to find a package the non permanent delivery person has not delivered. Every time I end up speaking to a manager, who says they are going to follow up, but NEVER do. In the last two years, this post office has successfully lost 3 packages. The first, a Warriors 73 wins tee I ordered for my SO. Mine arrived, the delivery person scanned the other and said it was delivered but yet it had to call Kohl's to get a refund. The second, a $90 dress I ordered as a Bridal Shower gift from me and two other girls. Again scanned and "dropped off." Yet here I am on the phone calling Lulu's to reorder it and waiting to file a claim to get a refund. And now, a Warriors cupcake tee that proceeds went to charity. Guess what? Yep, scanned and "dropped off." How do you ask they guy printing these shirts for a refund or replacement when proceeds went to charity?!?! Get your sh*t together USPS!!!! I and I'm sure many other SL residents are sick and tired of your lack in efficency in doing ONE job!! Delivering the mail!! I hope the carrier either likes the stuff I've been ordering or knows the person they've been giving my stuff to and they like it. You make all government employees look bad!!! read more

Kind and time-efficient staff. Pro-tip: it may be common sense, but don't come during lunch time around noon. I came here on a weekday around 11:30am, and it was really calm and quiet. Staff were able to help me without feeling rushed. I was finishing up and closing my package closer to noon, and the line got really long and crowded. read more

They lost my package. My package was scheduled to be delivered for 5/25/19 but was not delivered. Instead for it was scheduled for redelivery the next day. Unfortunately it was never delivered the next day. Instead I received a notification from my informed delivery that it was taken back to the post office due to an "incomplete address". I have order from this sender/company before and never had this issue until now. I always check my address and information before placing my order. This makes no sense why it would happen now. I went to the post office on Wednesday to get it but could not be found. It has now been a week and I still don't have my package and there have been no tracking updates since 5/25/19 so I don't even know if its been returned to sender or not. I've done all that I can to get into contact with someone and find my package and I have not heard back from anyone. I should be able to order something online and have confidence in USPS to do their job and deliver it. Also whoever was doing deliveries that day didn't even leave a slip on my door or in my mail box. I'm frustrated and all I want to know is where my package is. This post office is surrounded by a lotta stores such as a Mexican supermarket, car shops, dim sum spot... etc. Nice parking lot with roughly 20 parking spaces and they have a few drive thru, drop off mailboxes. I went in around 10am and there was a woman organizing greeting cards and another lady behind the counter sorting mail. This location is larger than other post offices I've visited. They had a spacious Rent-a-box area. So, I was the only customer in there. Nobody greeted me and I was just standing there waiting for someone to offer to help me... eventually the lady behind the counter noticed me. Okay she was sorting mail so her back was sorta turned so not super upset about that but yeah customer service wise kind of sucked. I had to mail out some architectural plans for a friend. They were about 48x36" in size so imagine big, rolled up posters. I asked her how much it would be and she said the priority mailing tube boxes are FREE! She gave me 2 and I folded them up & she also gave me tape which was really nice. I had them shipped to Palo Alto & San Carlos ($7.80 each, both a little over 2 lbs) and they came with tracking #s. read more

the post office here is small ala Fed-Ex (not counting the rental p.o. box section). parking space is limited. noticed full parking lot, only 2 patrons inside. entrance to lot iffy when a car is on ur tail as u slow to enter parking lot. no sharp turns or BOOM! rear ender. service wasn't a real problem. cordial, efficient, and professional. needed to pick up a package. 3 stars for the potenailly hazardous entrances. read more
