Superb experience. No line and the woman was so kind she explained everything thoroughly. Amazing service.

On most of the visits to this location, the staff has provided great customer service. They deserve 5 stars! But the staffing is lacking due to budgetary constraints. On this day, there were two workers and the line was 6 people deep. Granted, the customer being helped was trying to send a package to another country and the length of time working with that one person contributed the backlog. Finally, it was my turn as I brought then a priority express envelope I just filled out. However, the employee tells me they don't overnight priority express anymore and only offer priority mail. I wonder why they had all those priority express envelopes on display. Anyways, I'm glad they let me switch to a priority mail envelope without going back in the line. Parking in the neighborhood can be tough as many meters have no parking indicated :( read more

I post with a query. Why does the side door (see the photo I also uploaded) have lettering that is off brand. My wife remarked the location looks fake. But it is a bona fide US Postal Service location. It's just the door does not look as if it conforms to their style guidelines. It's noticeable. read more

I like this USPS location because the people working here are helpful and nice. I cut one star because parking is awful, which is not the fault of the employees. The City of SF and USPS management are to blame for many changes which have reduced available spots and deliberately make it difficult to drop a letter/package or go stand in line to speak to someone. So tiresome, SF/USPS management. read more

I've seen a lot of negative reviews for this particular USPS location. Personally, I've never had a bad experience here! The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it seems like it's been looked over when maintenance is involved (finding must the the issue since it's a federal institution). The employees here are ALWAYS so friendly, patient, kind and polite and take the time to explain anything I've had any confusion about. I can't stress enough how wonderful the costumer service is, or at least that's been my experience! As for value, there's not much to judge since it's standard postal pricing. Overall, I love my local post office, more for the great people that work there and the helpfulness of the staff. :) read more

Telma is the worst what can happen to customer service I asked her to double print my receipt which I lost and I got so much hate She didn't know how to do this and got so nervous. Her coworkers helped her out but at the same time she was saying really rude words to me "If you wanna better service go to FedEx. We don't provide anything like them" "You always complain and waste my time" - said she even didn't see my face without mask and my Id. It was my first time to ask about additional help with double printing the trucking number There was no line and only she could help because I sent my packages at her window When I got my receipts and said "thank you", she replied: never come back to my window! The people who work at the post office are pretty cool, I have no problem with them. My issue is with my postal carrier, who has a key to the building's vestibule, and my intercom code, and who has left many packages but today chose to "leave a notice" rather than employ any of those tools. She marked the item as "oversized". A pair of slippers. Now I have the shlep down to wherever it's being held. At least $40 in car fare, more than I paid for the slippers. They do say to fill out the form and leave it, and there's a phone number but in almost 40 years I have never been able to get the post office to re-deliver a package. Well, once, after spending half the day on the phone. You can see that craziness somewhere in this thread. I had planned to go to the post office tomorrow, but it's still irritating. She could easily have left that package, or rang me on the intercom and it was just not worth her trouble. I'm very tempted to just rent a box at a business center near me and do my best to avoid the post office altogether. It's possible that there was a substitute carrier, but it's also possible that she was just annoyed that I haven't picked up my mail for a couple of days and unfortunately this time of year I get dozens of catalogs which I can do nothing about. I'm hoping for her sake that it was a substitute carrier because I did have a nice tip for her. Just irritating. Just want to add this..I've been really sick since I had Covid, I often run inexplicable favors, and I feel very very susceptible to catching Covid again, or even the flu and it's the Christmas season which means I will have to go down to the post office and stand in line with people carrying packages, probably half of them won't be masked and there will be some idiot with a cough and no mask. Have you ever seen the postal auctions? I'm not sure if they have them in the bay area but I do know they hold them in Los Angeles. These are all packages that for one reason or another were not picked up quickly enough to satisfy the post office. Where do you think they get their merchandise? That's our packages. I'm gonna just re-order the slippers, it's a pity I won't have them for Christmas because they were a gift, but I'm not going anywhere that I might expose myself to Covid again, so look for a cute pair of bunny slippers in size 10 next time you go to a post office auction. You're welcome. read more

I never leave reviews but Eileen went above and beyond to help me today. She explained every detail to me on why one of my packages came back and advised me what to do to not let it happen again. My friend overnighted me a secondary package as well, and due to being out of town for the next few days, I went in to see what was going on. Again she was extremely patient with me, due to COVID it was delayed. She is very good at her job and even walked me through next steps if it didn't arrive the next day. This review isn't for the staff at the counters but for the sorry sack of $hit (the SOS) that is our mail carrier (s/he apparently is a member of this branch). Anyway, last Saturday, bozo decides to deliver a package to us. Only no one was home so Bozo leaves us the precious pink slip. I jump online to reschedule a redelivery (If I paid for delivery, you better deliver it to my doorstep. Why the heck do I want to go to the PO?) for Monday. Monday comes and goes and no delivery. So I call the 800 number and complain. They reschedule another delivery for Tuesday. Tuesday comes and goes, no delivery. I call the 800 number again on Tuesday night and they promised me they would hunt down the postmaster and make him take care of it first thing this morning. I said I would like them to deliver the package in the morning. Sure, no problem. It is now noon. No package. That sorry sack of $hit and his $hitty manager decides to ignore the directive from the staff at 800 number. This isn't the first time this happened to me. The same thing happened last year. The trick is to raise bloody hell with the 800 number and some powers that be will reach out and slap the staff at this branch. Last year's was worse though. The SOS wrote an illegible tracker number and then lied outright to my friend, who was nice enough to sit in my house and wait for the SOS, that he came numerous times. He also said he got "unfairly chewed out by the postmaster." Am I to feel sorry for you not doing your job? Vendors, if you can please mail your packages via FEDEX. No wonder why the USPS is going broke! It's because of sorry people like these! I hope they close this branch down and fire every single one of those losers at this branch (for those who are good, I hope you get transferred to a better spot). They should just burn the whole branch down. read more

Came here once to get stamps because I was in the area and really needed to mail an urgent letter. The lines were so long because they had no one working the counter. This was when the economy was good and all the offices were still open. As seen in the picture, their staff don't care about what they do. I have used this branch for 28 years and have found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and courteous. I'm surprised at some of the reviews here, especially the one singling out Telma, who is the friendliest, most soft-spoken person on the planet. I can't imagine her being rude to anyone. In fact, if her window is open and no one else is in line, I make a point of going up just to say HI. Or I wave to her from a distance. She always asks how my Mom is doing, despite the fact that she met her only once, years ago, when my Mom went with around the neighborhood with me. That right there says a lot about her, I think. The other clerks are also friendly and helpful. There are times when there is a long line, generally lunch hours and on Mondays after work, but I've learned not to go then if I need window service. read more

I see that this USPS facility have the Automated Postal Center machine as well. This little kiosk is always come in handy for postal customers who are in a hurry to get their letters and packages weighted, proper postage stamp applied and mailed. I seriously believe that the Automated Postal Center self-service machine is one amenity that every USPS facility should have. The lobby drop box is right near where the entry/exit doors are located. Other than that, this is just your usual USPS facility. The postal service seeing some downgrades, that's not new stuff anymore. Somehow we can't blame the staff for this problem, I feel that the station managers have the responsibilities to improve the services at each post office facility. This is definitely my go to USPS facility when I am out in the Outer Richmond area. It really would be very nice if USPS added a second or third facility in the Outer Richmond area. I would start with a snarky opening like, "Are these people retarded?" except I have a severely developmentally disabled uncle (who is magnificent and charming and lovely) who would weigh your boxes, stamp your envelopes, and send your packages off WAAAAAAAY better, faster, and more pleasantly than the creeps they have staffing this place. To thank Mommy for consistently spoiling the crap out of me for the past 25 (*ahem*cough*) years, I thought I'd send the old girl some flashy pumps I knew she'd just love. Got the pumps, got the tissue paper, got the requisite girly greeting card, and needed only a container in which to ship these tokens of my affection and appreciation. You would have thought I had requested the moving of mountains when I posed a simple question about appropriate packaging of footwear. You would have thought I was asking to ship explosives. You would have thought I was interrupting these two in the middle of their coffee break, mid-sip on the sidewalk, had you seen the dual stink-eye action I was subjected to. It would appear that these particular employees missed their last customer service review. It took me FOREVER to get help and once I got it, it was given reluctantly and without eye contact or full-sentence responses. I don't know how this office runs with these two in charge. I'll use the post office in the Western Addition, near my house from now on. They may be packed to the gills on a daily basis, but it still seems faster, and friendlier, than this branch. read more

Cross posted from my blog - I would give the USPS negative 45 stars if I could. A month ago, before I left Ohio, I mailed myself three boxes. The contained clothes, books, shoes and some documents for school. I mailed them parcel post and was told (the Thursday before I left) that they would arrive at my new apartment in seven to ten days. They never came. This really sucks, because I'm poor and cannot afford to buy new books or clothes. It REALLY sucks because I need the school documents so I can get my paycheck. Which I didn't know, otherwise I would have taken those papers with me on the plane... And, in fact since I haven't been able to pick up my paycheck I have been subsisting on $20 a week and just found out that my student loan posted early, overdrawing my account. I now have to spend $50 to get duplicates of all my financial aid paperwork and transcript in-order to turn into the registrar's office so that I can be paid for the work I've been doing for almost a month. $50 I don't have. Which is another story. Anyhow, I felt fairly confident that eventually the boxes would get returned to my parent's house, so I've been waiting for an email from mah Momma saying that they had. Instead what I got was a slip in my mailbox (on Monday, 9/24) dated for 9/21 stating that the USPS had "tried to deliver" one of my three boxes and that no one was home. Joy - maybe it's the box that has my financial aid papers in it - at the very worst, it's a box that has a bunch of the new clothes and shoes my generous parents bought me over the summer... clothes I kinda wish I had right now, as they're fall clothes and it's starting to get nippy in SF. I call - immediately - for a re-delivery. I talk to a nice woman who schedules that for this past WEDNESDAY. She tells me that they can't' give me a time window for the delivery and that I'd better wait around all day from 9am to 5pm. So, I talk to my professors on Tuesday, arrange to take the afternoon off of work and stay home to wait for the package. Which. Never. COMES. Frustrated, yet still able to be gracious, I call the post office YESTERDAY and ask for ANOTHER redelivery. They schedule one for today. Rinse, repeat process. I am sitting at home this morning and I hear my postal carrier arrive. He doesn't knock on our door to deliver my package. I run outside (in my jammies) down 25th Avenue after him to ask him where my fucking package is. He says that he "doesn't deliver packages" and that I had better call the post office to confirm the delivery today. Which I do. I am on hold for 45 minutes, only to have to deal with the fucking stupidest automated voice system ever, then put through to a customer service representative who says they can't help me. They try to transfer me to my actual post office, but disconnect me instead. Rinse, repeat process. FINALLY I get through to someone *in San Francisco* who tells me that they don't have any information about my package and that I need to call ANOTHER post office location. Which I do. To be told this: Because my package was mailed parcel post they will not redeliver it to my apartment. Meaning I have to go pick it up. Which I could have done in FAR FUCKING LESS TIME THAN ALL THIS BULLSHIT! *slams head into wall* What I have learned from this: * Always insure and track packages * Never mail yourself documents * NEVER SHIP THINGS VIA USPS 'Scuse me I have to go up to 21st Ave and Geary to get my 10lb box. read more

This has to be the worst post office in the City if not the country. I've had numerous problems with their postmaster and most of the staff here with them refusing to deliver my package, and accusing me of using there free boxes for delivering a package international, but today had to be the worse ever. I dropped of a prepaid shipment to return from pants to Dockers. I'm sure many of you have these forms now when you order some companies. It's an easy label that you just slap on and the post office charges the company whatever it cost to ship. Easy right? Not here. I dropped off my package to them December 3rd to return to Dockers. Weeks went by and Dockers had still not gotten my return. I kept calling Dockers asking about my package, and they had no notion of it ever being ship back. So this is where it gets interesting, on January 18th over a month and half since I shipped it. It shows up dumped at my door. The packaged looked like it had been through every 3rd world post office and then had been the soccer ball for prison yard game. On the package it read "YU USE WONG BOX RTURN WIT WRITE BOX". I couldn't believe they kept my package there for over a month with EZ return label on it and didn't do anything with it. I brought the package to the post office near Mels on Geary and they quickly quickly stuck a new box on and made a new EZ return label to get it out as fast so it could make the return date. You wonder why the post office is dying? This post office is a perfect example of of why they suck. read more

This is a horrible post office. It's not all the post office's fault, either. You see, there's this guy with a double-billed baseball cap who comes in here every afternoon with a garbage bag (yes, it's literally a garbage bag) filled with different-sized and -weighted packages to mail for his little business. When he arrives, he's guaranteed to use up at least forty minutes of the postal workers' time to weigh each of his boxes. This guy is a cancer, and he should have to get some sort of mailing machine rather than ruining everyone else's day. OK, now I'm mad about this place again. Whose idea was it to have one post office in the entire Richmond District? And why don't they have more staffing? One of the people who works here is really sweet and efficient. Most of the others aren't. The woman who runs it tries to help but is usually a little bit mean. And while you're waiting in line, you have to deal with the smell from the Subway next door. They don't even have an APC machine. USPS, please open another Richmond District location. read more

First, a question to the audience: If I were to hypothetically to flip out and loose my temper while in a post office, would I be in the right to afterward claim I "went postal," given I am not myself a postal worker? SWEET. BABY. JESUS. I put my mail on hold over the holidays to have it delivered last Saturday. Naturally, it didn't show. Sunday is God's day of rest. Monday was New Year's. Tuesday, the entire postal service closed down to honor Gerald Ford. Wednesday morning I telephoned, only to get constant busy signals (what, USPS doesn't have call waiting?). Wednesday afternoon, I get a hold of someone who tells me they can't deliver my mail. I have to pick it up on Thursday, but not before noon. Thursday, high noon, a worker at the Geary Station tells me they don't have my mail. He says to call the number I called on Wednesday. I told him I already did. He then says I should talk to my mail carrier. He also advises I "get to know" my mail carrier. This is, of course, easily done, as most people spend the entire day at home listening for their mail(wo)man. I am now optimistically (foolishly) saying to myself: "Something good will happen tomorrow. I can feel it." In truth, if I don't get my mail--if my letter carrier herself doesn't even know where my mail is--I see little course of action besides walking into the Geary Station, flipping open the secret panel on the back of my neck, and pressing my self-destruct button. Maybe I'm over-reacting. Hey, it's not likely I received anything important in the mail over the break. I probably got some information on changes in my health insurance, possibly a paycheck... no big deal. I should cut the USPS some slack. Wow. I had to call my wife today and bitch about the woman who "helped" me here today. More like "did her job under protest". I had a simple task to complete: send something back to the shipper with a supplied, printed, shipping label. This twat tried to make me take it to a UPS store, berated me for not having it packaged already, as if I have various-sized boxes lying around my house like they do at the f-ing post office, and even criticized the amount of tape I had on my shipping label, which she made me put on while it sat on her part of the counter... I never have to deal with rudeness from customer service drones because I always try to act friendly and smile, get them talking somehow or another, but this one got to me. I'm really unsure as to why postal workers in every city and every country I've lived in tend to be the most laziest sacks of crap in that given city and country. Unfortunately, I think that the outer Richmond postal workers top that list. First, when you deliver a notice for a package that says that you'll redeliver, then your customer does all the crazy paperwork for you to redeliver that package, a crazy idea might be to actually redeliver it. Not rocket science, people. Second, when you call or show up at the post office, it might be nice to give some indication that you are a human being. A smile? A nod? Something. I realize you have a suck ass job and you can't get anything better, but that's not my problem. Better to be great at a suck ass job than to be awful at the best job in the world, I say. Finally, if I show up at exactly 5:31 and you see me holding a slip wanting to pick up my package that you conveniently forgot to redeliver all week, let me in. I assure you that you're generosity and niceness will give you more good karma than your robotic "it's not my job" mentality. Come on, San Francisco. No wonder UPS and DHL are kicking ass. read more

There are only two competent people working there and unfortunately I don't encounter them as often. Watch out for the little woman with black straight hair. I have also been charged for stamps I didn't use and when I came back to show her my receipt she said I "used" the stamps. I'm not sure if she just pockets that stamp money but the USPS should probably check into that. I also had the sort, older worker deny me service to mail my package because I had tape on the package that went over the stamps which he informed me made them "void". Keep in mind that I (and other folks I know) have sent packages this way a million times. And its not like I just had stamps taped, I had the whole package taped up, well, because it's a PACKAGE! Then a week ago I went in to mail 4 packages and needed separate receipts for each transaction. I tell the teller this before she helps me and she says that will be fine. After ringing me up for one she just takes off and tells me it's her lunch....yes in the middle of assisting me she just left....why did you even offer to take me??
