This is another location that would benefit from hiring a few more people. Nearly every time I come here there's quite the line and the service seems slow. I know they handle a lot and I'm sure there's a great deal going on behind the scenes too, which is why I try to remain patient. I appreciate that they have passport services at this location. I also like that if you don't need tracking for a package, you can set it on the counter (without waiting in line) or use the drop box in the lobby, as long as your package is under a certain weight. If this was a private enterprise, they would be out of business. Could not properly process my autopay (after several attempts and using various credit cards), which resulted in the closing of my post office box. I opened one at the UPS store (which has more convenient hours and better customer service) and put in a change of address -- handing it directly to the postal clerk. That change of address has not been processed 10 days later. This is one business that would benefit from either using robots or hiring trained monkeys because they definitely would do a better job! read more

I will try to never go there again. Mailed three packages. Mailed out two bills and wanted to mail out property tax I wanted to take a picture of it after it was stamped the very unpleasant, unprofessional young lady said that I couldn't take a picture. I took it back and went to San Juan Capistrano post office told them the story they have never heard of such a policy . I've taken pictures before and never had this happen. Such quick and helpful service! The inside is spotless. Parking can be tricky at times, if they are busy.

I recently sent 2 parcels from this post office on different days using the self-service kiosk that they prefer customers to use so you don't have to bother the employees. Both parcels had tracking numbers on them, but even though I put them in the package mail slot next to the kiosk, neither package has any tracking history, even after more than one month. The company I sent them to never received them. Each had over $35 worth of clothes in them. One time a few years ago, I called this post office when we were expecting mail but nothing was delivered at all that day, on a normal weekday. The postmaster happened to answer, and he said that mail could be delivered as late as 7pm, and even so, the post office has no obligation to deliver your mail every day. read more

They are so incredibly rude here. I was standing in line behind one person being helped and the other employees avoided eye contact and looked busy so I patiently waited. Another customer walks in and walks right past me up to one of the other employees windows and says "are you open?" The woman says "yes" and the customer then says "oh I thought she was in line" referring to me. I obviously am so I looked to another woman behind the counter and she says "well you should've gone over there instead of just standing there staring at us." And laughs at me. All it would have taken was a "I can help you over here" but they're too rude to do even that. Just thought I'd share so other people can avoid this place. read more

I've gone to this post office since I was a little one going with my mom haha. I've always had a good experience and fond memories. I loved the art work they have in there of San Clemente - the best city ever!! Sometimes I have had a wait, but other times there has been no wait. Customer service has always been good. Packages have usually always arrived on time. Not a ton of parking out front, but enough. Can be hard to get to if you are driving on the other side of the road (heading towards the beach), but I usually try to make a left into it or I'll go down to the signal, make a left, u-turn and then pull in. read more

USPS IS A LOST SERVICE!!!! Disabled person here! I have one of those tiny communal mail boxes that gets full of nothing but junk mail with 1 -2 pieces of real mail (most of my stiff is paperless unless it's not offered) Had surgery last week, unable to walk to mail box and my nurse quit. Got a new temp nurse and in the chaos forgot to have her get the mail. The carrier left a note in the box that it was full and my mail would be at main post office for pickup. If NOT picked up then would be returned to sender! Tried to call 10x to have my mail delivered but the new automated line never lets you speak with anyone. Don't use this post office if you're in a hurry. It took me 30 minutes to pick up a package the other day. Even though I was the only person there! Then this morning I showed up at 8:45 to renew my passport (passport office hours are posted as 9am-4pm) and when the doors opened at 9 to a line of 12 people, the ONE clerk had us put our names on a wait list. Then after a few minutes told us that the passport facilitator wouldn't be arriving on site until "10 o'clock or so." Yikes. I relocated to the Dana Point Post Office and was finished with the entire process by 10:15. This post office is always understaffed and chaotic. AVOID. read more

Wow. Look at all of the neg posts. Oh, I don't know, maybe the USPS could look into the situation, eh? But they won't. They don't care, just like their lackey doesn't care. At least the message is consistent from top to bottom. The kid was just rude. He mumbled out loud so everyone in line could hear him, "you better be ready." Rude. He locked everyone in, making us exit through the sorting area. Apparently, he's got some places to be, or something. Any grownup knows that just because your schedule says off at 5 pm it never act means "5pm". For this tool to walk out the door exactly at 5, he would have to lock his remaining customers in at say, 4:45, maybe earlier depending upon how busy they've consistently been that afternoon. I get it. He wanted to go home and his job is just retail with a different name. People can bug, I get it. But if that's an issue, you might want to consider a job where you don't interact with them for 10 hours a day. You could possibly "go postal", and we all know that is a bad beat. If I were him, I'd get a job editing books or inputing numbers, far, far away from the dregs of society that are the bane of my existence on a daily basis. Being a creep to them? Sure, that's one way to go, I guess, but nothing good is likely coming from it, and who knows, he could possibly be a dillweed to the exact wrong individual. Probably not, but you just never know, right? Pays to at least pretend to be a decent human being with that beautiful gift for patience on display, fak as heck, or not. I have lived at my current address in San Clemente for nearly 20 years. I've never understood the gripes people had about the postal service until 2 years ago when I suddenly stopped getting 90% of my mail. A Christmas check I desperately needed was returned to my mother in Las Vegas after waiting by the mailbox for two weeks. This was just the beginning of a nightmare that has lasted until now. For two years I've been regularly going down to this branch, (my branch) and asking (begging) supervisors and managers, and even contacting USPS in Washington DC; to find out where the hell my mail is...only to be met with blank stares, employees yelling at ME, blaming me or my mail carrier, my mail BOX, wanting ME to somehow GET a piece of the mail I'm NOT getting (to show them), etc., etc. If it wasn't bad enough, at the beginning I was going through terrible times financially. Most of my paychecks came from small businesses through the MAIL. Do you know what it looks like when your paychecks keep getting "Returned Undeliverable"?? It looks like you're homeless. So why the FIVE STARS?? Finally someone arrived like a Christmas angel from heaven to sort out the mess and her name is Shannon! She is a new manager at this branch and takes her job seriously. It still took nearly a month with Shannon to figure out the source of the problem, but she didn't give up and didn't just blow me off like the rest. We went in first thing in the morning to get our minor daughters passports for an upcoming vacation. Because it was right before Christmas , it was already busy but a supervisor did his best to try and help expedite the line. We had to wait for a specialized employee to process the passport. The supervisor came over and gifted our children a lovely book called Letters to Santa and wished them a Merry Christmas. INEPT and SLOW If you need your package to arrive in a timely manner - FORGET IT Unless you pay for Express your package will sit for at least a day before being logged in the system, if your package is First Class or Parcel Post the package will sit for 2 or 3 days before they logged it in. By not logging the package in you can't complain about how long they take to deliver it. I guess I should be proud that my post office workers have figured out how to game the system and do their work as slow as possible. YEAH!! read more

I have tried to get a package sent to me by my husband back for over two weeks now they have run me around with what I need to do. They finally just told me that it has been sent back to him overseas but he is no longer at that address. This office is completely ridiculous no one has been clear with what I need to do and they don't care if you are unhappy with the service. They are slow to get back to you and only cause further problems by giving incorrect information. Don't trust USPS with any of your stuff unless you want to spend time trying to figure out where it is and how to get it where it's supposed to be. Every time I come to the San Clemente Post Office the line goes very quickly and I receive great quality customer service. I do think they have an awkward parking lot but the workers are so nice and aren't lazy. I've rarely had to wait in a line there at all. They aren't understaffed either which is probably why. I starting using this post office in 2002. Over the years I continued until the USPS opened up another location near my home on Calle Negocio. I had always enjoyed the paintings and the consistency of the employees working there. What changed my mind about using this location as a friendly and trustworthy establishment, was I had witnessed an employee giving over a check in an envelope to person who did not have identification for the money. The employee said he needed some sort of I.D. The man repeated he didn't have any identification, the employee handed over the money/check anyway without verification. This not only is illegal, but the employee at that time was one of the managers on duty. I avoid this post office as much as possible! read more

I do not recommend this PO for PASSPORT services. The certified employee was very frazzled and doesn't even know what the requirements are for the different passport scenarios. She made my son (and eventually me) jump through a bunch of extra hoops by bringing an Original birth certificate down there, on his second visit to get this done, when in fact the State department confirmed (as did two other Post offices where we did the rest of our family) that we did NOT need to submit an original birth certificate for an 18 year old with a current passport. The website is very clear on what you need for your appt., the requirements were also posted on the walls behind her in her own office! When the extremely unprofessional and very rude manager named CASEY came out to help, she flippantly said "those are out dated" to their papers on the wall and then said "the state dept. website is incorrect". Both of which were 100% not true. She then verbally mocked me to her employee and in front of my son, saying curtly "just do as she says, she is now a certified passport clerk"... "that's what your saying right? That you know more than us". I was stunned that this was how a supposedly trained manager handles a situation. Nice way to lead by example Casey. Maybe all your employees can be mocking customers by the end of this year. Sad that this is how a manager would handle something instead of using a voice of reason, mediating and moving forward positively for both the customer and employee. Do yourself a favor and do your passport business elsewhere. I highly recommend passport services at Dana Point Post Office on Del Prado. The properly certified employee was super kind, helpful, and most importantly totally knowledgeable of the passport requirements. They take your picture on the spot too if needed. read more

I have to start off by saying my father has worked for the post office for 40 years. I've seen him come home soaking wet from being out in the rain all day, or sweaty from being out in the sun on really hot days. He's come home late because they've asked him to carrying part of someone else's route after he's finished his, so I get it. I'm a post office worker defender. I had an email saying a package was delivered to my mailbox two days ago and it wasn't in there. So I call dad in Long Beach to see what I should do. He tells me to call them the next day, but instead I go in at opening to talk to someone because the reviews say the phones don't get answered (btw, they do. I just called them). They open at 9, but a guy with a box is rattling the door to try to get them to open it at 8:57. Can't be happy postal workers when people outside are already in bad moods. The guy behind the counter is nice, I've worked with him before. Long story short, they took my info, went through parcels at the station, our letter carrier came to the door at my home and apologized when he was on his route and they said they'd figure it out. It showed up on my porch this morning....probably stuck in someone else's box (of course, our mailman had the day off it was delivered and someone else delivered it). I called the office to let them know it was here and the manager (who answered the phone) tells me they were going to check boxes today. The lines might be long some days, but going in with a bad attitude is going to get you a bad attitude in return. read more

I have the worst experience at this location. First, the passport and passport card for my newborn were misspelled so I had to bring my newborn again to get it reissue. Then, we only received the passport so I went to the postal office again for the third time with my newborn to inquire about her passport card. The clerk was out sick and they didn't have anyone to fill her position. This issue, short staff, went on for a week as I called almost every other day to check if they have someone to process passports. My fourth visit with my newborn at this postal office was the worst as I finally got to talk to the same clerk who processed both forms, first time and second time. She was rude and rushed me out of the door only provided a number for me to call. I am most certain that this was a human error on why my newborn passport was process incorrectly however the clerk didn't want to admit it. Our tax dollars pay for government jobs why we are not getting the service that we deserve!!! read more

Right away he said, "I'll take care of that, because that's what I do!" I laughed out loud because I'm so used to people in all businesses giving me some excuse why they can't do something.
