I dont get why this location has so many bad reviews. My go to post office was the Royal Oaks location. Lately they been having issues with their equipment not working. I run a ebay business and its important for me to send out packages on time. After doing some research I saw the Broadway location opens early at 8:30 am. Perfect. Since I have to be at work at 9:30 am, I can easily go in as they open. I been going so far three weeks and so far I felt service has been good. I will say this. The clerk didn't know what I meant by hand cancelling the wedding invitations and looked at me like I was crazy and made me feel uncomfortable. Filipino guy with the glasses was very rude, rushing me with my package talking about there's a line behind me I told him if you so stressed out and worried about the long lines go get some help, he was the only one at the counter with a line of about 10 people, black woman in plain clothes who appears to be the supervisor just walks by him 3 times offering no help, honestly when I pulled up I thought the place was closed, garbage and debris all along side of the building with the homeless all around the building, I'm glad I don't need to come into a post office much and no I won't be going back to that garbage dump read more

Even though there's usually a 3-5 person line each time I come to send a package or buy stamps, I'm in and out in less than 15min. One of the employees is a woman who's always there and she's so efficient and nice despite the high activity of the post office. I also have a PO box here which is no that convenient to access because you can only get to them during business hours M-F. But, this is the closest USPS to where I live so alas. It's a Size 3-M 11" x 5.5" PO box that used to cost $115/3 months but it recently increased to $121.00/3 months. You can also pay $210 for 6 months or $420 for 12 months. read more

I went to UPS near my house to send a small family tchotchke to my sister in Germany. The guy laughed and ballparked $120 for my 2lb package. This USP mailed it for under $40!! The post office doesn't always get the clout it needs, but they are doing some great work to ensure that it can accommodate the changing times. They always have a spot where you can get services when there isn't somebody, and I appreciate that. The staff is helpful, although they are understaffed; please be patient with them because they are doing what they can do. They work hard and ensure they can answer any questions you may have, and if they don't know the answer, I guarantee they will find you the answer shortly. They are doing great, and I am happy to be able to support the US postal office in my town. read more

This postal location is OK. If you're waiting in line, make sure you have a number from the dispenser. You will only be called by number. I've only experienced a bit of a line once, but I tend to go during the morning or early afternoon. One complaint I have about this location is the fact that it does not have an automated machine in the lobby, so if you are out of stamps on a Saturday, you'll have to go to the Alhambra post office. This location is not available for retail sales on weekends. My other issue was when I had tried to send a package with unused stamps I had taken off another envelope. I cut them off and pasted them on a new, bubble wrapped package. The postal employee cancelled the stamps first, noticed they had been previously attached to a manila envelope, and refused them. So, I had to spend some time peeling them off the manila paper and reattaching them to the bubble wrap. Thankfully, there was enough stick left to them. What a hassle! If they're not previously cancelled, I don't see what the issue is. Finally, there is a drive-up mail drop-off behind the building, so that's handy. Overall, for being a place to mail letters, it's fine. It does not have the longest lines and the employees are mostly helpful. read more

Horrible! First time coming into the post office to drop off our small business packages. Showed up 5 mins before closing to drop off all packages to the counter. Confirmed with worker that it was okay to leave it there. One week later, nothing has been scanned it. Lost all my packages and now I have to file a claim. How disappointing. read more

I have only been here twice, once to drop something in the drive through mail boxes and once to go inside. I found there to be plenty of parking and when I entered the location there was no long line. They had two people working the front and therefore I was in and out quickly. This location isn't the prettiest or well kept post office I have been to but it is the closest. read more

Idk what crawled up Cathy's butt but man is she going through it!! Yesterday I go in to ask about my mailing situation as I have moved. Mandy was being everyday chill just answering my questions. So I stepped out of line to fill out some papers and get back in line hoping to finish up with Mandy. I get called by Cathy, fill her in on my convo with Mandy and ask about potential windows to catch the mail man in my area. She says "well real residents know when the mail is delivered". I have to take a moment cause bitch I have mail in my hand with my name and address for starters!! In addition, like her, I too work a job. I actually work multiple jobs so I can't just sit around looking out my window(which I'm on apartments so my window doesn't even face the mailbox) just to watch when the mail comes in case of this insanely rare moment I don't have access to my mail. I just literally don't get why someone would be so lackluster in their simple ass job and why do so many people seem irritated to answer questions? Work on toilets if you don't want to talk to people! Be a janitor after hours in some office! Collect trash if talking to the public bothers you! But don't take a job where it's literally part of your work to consistently talk to and help others. Luckily Mandy caught onto her bitchiness in the air and stepped in to inform me that there are forms for everything I was asking about. First class means sitting at this site for 6 days (3 days after it's supposed to be delivered) only to have the envelope ripped open and the item taken out before shipping it to arrive more than a week later. Don't use USPS for anything valuable. If they can't handle an envelope on first class, we're only lucky that they would be able to handle a postcard. FEDEX, UPS, and pigeon are better options. read more

At last, I have found the holy grails of post offices - the one that is open at 8:30 a.m. Monday-Friday. I stopped here this morning at exactly 8:30 a.m., my nose metaphorically pressed up against the window like a Mervyns commercial ("Open, open, open") and was the first one through the door. Service is always very helpful and efficient. Yes, it can get busy, but all things considered, it's not the worst one I've been to. And you can always get breakfast at Pancake Circus (since it's right there!) if you want, after your mail run. Overall, #winning. read more

The Post Office on Broadway is open early at 8:30 am. The waiting time was fairly short. Unlike the Safeway in midtown, which sells stamps by the booklet, the Post Office sells stamps individually but only President George H.W. Bush and the Purple Heart. The costs of postage is still inexpensive as I bought five Purple Heart stamps for $2.75. read more

I see now why the post office is dying a slow death. Between the stagnate line of twenty people and the decaying interior, I felt like I was in a communist breadline. You know it's bad when this is the only area post office that has seating and a number system much like the DMV. I have to admire the customers for their patience. They stood gripping their packages in silence for a good 5 to 10 minutes while surveying the counter, hoping that someone would come out to greet them. I've only visited the Broadway PO once. It didn't seem too busy, there were only 2 other customers in line ahead of me. The lady who checked me out was polite, and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Solid experience, no complaints. Well, one complaint: I REALLY wish this location had better hours, because it is only 2 blocks away from my home! But they close at 5pm M-F and aren't open on weekends, and that doesn't work with my day job schedule. Le sigh. read more

For the first several years after I came to Sacramento, I always went to the Broadway Post Office. It was never a pleasant experience. This office has all the charm of a badly run DMV. The only good thing I have to say about it is that there are chairs so one does not have to stand in line but instead takes a number and can have a seat while waiting. Not every employee I have encountered there lacked any seeming desire to be friendly or helpful; unfortunately, far too many were (at best) indifferent about providing service. One time, as I entered, I had someone tell me "You can't bring a dog in here." It's my Mobility Assistance Dog in a working harness that has a badge saying Service Dog across the chest, and has another badge on the side identifying it as such. So that greeting did not sit well with me, nor did having to elucidate federal law to a federal employee in a federal facility. More recently, they have placed a sign on their door which states 'No Dogs Allowed Except Seeing Eye Dogs', which I have pointed out to them is incorrect according to federal law. There are more kinds of Service Dogs covered under the ADA than just Guide Dogs for the blind, yet this sign which is wrong and perpetuates ignorance and misinformation remains. I was delighted when I discovering there was a South Land Park Post Office closer to my home. Even though I hate having to wait in line, at least I have been given excellent service at their counter. My most recent experience with the Broadway PO was to go there on Saturday 12/15 (only because I had other business taking me past that location) with the intention of getting a package mailed First Class in time for Christmas arrival, but discover they had closed early at noon and I had arrived at 12:20pm. A call to South Land Park revealed they were open until 2pm, so I was able to get my box mailed after all, no thanks to the Broadway PO. I wish Broadway could be run in a customer friendly manner. Until then, I will go elsewhere, even if it is out of my way. read more

I would give them a zero rating. This is not my first negative experience at the Broadway Post office; judging by the reviews, I am not alone. I stood in line for 30 minutes as the girl was on her own, not her fault, and I expected this. I did not expect that she would decide that as I had 7 packages (it's Christmas), she would only take 5, and I would need to go to the back of the line for the other 2, as the line was long! Yes, I know, I just stood in it. and now it is longer than when I started. She claimed it was a policy, so when I asked to see it, as it was not posted anywhere, she admitted it was not a policy but that her boss, who works at the Oak Park branch, directed her to do this. I asked the people in line if they knew the policy; of course, they did not. I won't go back to this post office ever again. The last time I had a bad experience, I mentioned it to a bay area office, and they knew exactly which post office in Sacramento I was talking about. Do better!! read more

I've been to this post office a few times now and never really had to wait more than 5 minutes in line. Granted, I tend to go on the off-hours. Parking is easy behind the building or on the street. The ladies that work here are so nice!! I had to give them a shoutout. I came here to buy the special "wedding" stamps for my invitations and found out they did not have any more of the +1oz (.68cent) stamps for the heavier envelopes. The woman at the counter called two other post offices for me to find out who had them! Excellent customer service. Then today, I went back in to have my invitations hand canceled and another woman at the counter agreed to do it for me. I know it can be a pain so I really appreciated it. Absolutely 0 stars. The young girl up at the front is extremely rude!!! I bought a certified mail return reciept for the letter and she said 'Fill this out'. I made a mistake in one of the boxes and accidently signed in the wrong box. She yelled at me, saying, 'No! Do you even know what this is? Give it here. Well, you messed up so now they're just gonna have to sign over you!' ..... Worst experience at a post office and never coming back again. If you're in a pinch and decide to come here: building is to the Right of Pancake Circus and it directly faces Broadway. Parking is in the rear so it's easiest to enter lot coming up from 22nd. They are not very accommodating when it comes to asking questions and some seem to almost resent being asked lift a finger.
