I give this post office location five stars due to the fact I've been coming here for years. And in that time service has improved. They're a full service post office: passport services (make sure to make an appointment), PO Box rentals, packaging, gift cards, postage stamps, and cards for sell. There is always a line. When the line of Customers starts to get shorter, the employees start disappearing into the back room. If there is nobody in line, there is nobody at the windows. And when customers start conversations, employees oblige them, regardless of relevance to postal duties or waiting customers in line, as if they're chatting with the locals on an island while vacationing, rather than serving customers in the office at work. By comparison, UPS is always working quickly, keeping conversations efficient, moving to the next customer. And when there are no customers at UPS, they welcome customers the second they enter the building and help them immediately without any need to yell into the back room or wait. 'No wonder USPS is losing business to competitors! The epitomy of USPS is the Postal Inspector. They are currently holding all mail for some 80 customers in 5 buildings within our jurisdiction, according to one employee at this post office. Apparently, we have suffered mail theft again. There is no notification of what happened. If you ask, nobody knows. They just tell you it's under investigation. This is the second time in 9 years. The first time, we never received official paperwork from the government with all of our personal information in it, including social security numbers. And when we reported it, there was only a notice of receipt. There was never any result or explanation shared. And the police refuse to help. The Postal Inspector covers all mail problems. But there is no oversight or accountability! I wonder what we lost this time, when our mailbox was broken into. The Postal Inspector is a joke, a worse criminal than the thiefs. And yet they are never convicted! They operate in the dark! read more

I drove halfway across town to get to the post office and I was here at 4:55. They shut and lock the door in my face, not allowing me to come in saying that I was late, but I was not. The post office has built a reputation on being there for their people and not people getting shut out for no reason, especially when I spent my time money in order to get there And it's the holiday season and gas is up to five dollars a gallon right now. This is not OK please correct the service on people on boycott this office seriously at least be there for the people. read more

The USPS has made some improvements since I last used them. I don't go there very often but the self serve kiosks are such an improvement! They might have been around for a while but they are new to me. No longer have to wait in long lines. In fact there was no line. The kiosk is open 24/7 at this location. You can print your labels and scan your package in and then drop off in the bin. The bin can handle pretty large packages but not all. I think taller ones can't fit so would have to wait for the Post Office to open for that. But otherwise you can do most things in the self serve kiosk. The bin will get locked once it is full but I haven't experienced that at this location yet. I have at other locations. I like this branch. The clientele and staff are fairly friendly here. I feel comfortable visiting. Good job improving USPS! read more

First, thank you very much to the person I spoke with in the Alameda, post office and second the Pleasanton post office continues to disgrace the entire USPS community... Today while working on a property in Pleasanton on a single lane road the delivery person decided they didn't have enough room to pass our vehicle and rather than asking us to move over slightly . They simply took a picture and drove away. I approached the person and asked if they would like us to move and they said it's not their responsibility to ask us to move. I said isn't it your responsibility to deliver the mail... This is route five in Pleasanton. Apparently You're not getting your mail today because you carrier has no problem, solving skills even when offered an option that solves the problem. read more

Passport services are a scam. Three of my family members went there to get our passports. We all went to different spots to get our photos taken beforehand. All three of our photos were turned away and we were forced to pay an additional 15$ each to get a photo. Sure if it's not accepted all good but the employee is supposed to give you a form that shows that your photo wasn't acceptable so you can get a refund where you went. The lady who was named Tuyen (sp?) didn't and when we asked she was abrupt and wouldn't give any of us one. I think they are scamming you at the post office to make an additional 15$ per picture. Huge as others but the staff not as great as other offices. Worst!!! Staff has no customer service experience, they don't even know how to talk politely and would be sarcastic about your query. They have no time to smile, I get it but if you have a newborn with you, I have not seen anyone as rude as people here. This was for their passport office, they don't have a clear demarcation of where to stand, when to call or knock. The san ramon USPS is good about such policies. we walked in with just 1 minute. left for our appointment so it's our fault, I get it but one of the staff asked us to line up outside and so we presumed everyone is in sync with the passport process and interview slots. We waited 40 mins outside with a new born and only when I went back again to ask what's the delay they said "you were late" and this they couldn't have told me 41 mins ago when they asked me to wait in the passport line. This review applies to shipping out packages as part of the USPS Operation Santa: I've never had issue shipping out packages at this post office for Operation Santa, I just show them the instructions and QR code that's emailed to me and they're able to do it no problem. If I can give zero star I will. The 3 women at the front desks all had long faces and even when I greeted them they didn't say anything. One of them either hates me or hates everyone. She even gave me wrong information, (after I asked her twice just to make sure), wasted my time for having to start all over again. On top of that, she has the thickest Indian accent and I could barely understand her (not just me, other customers also struggled trying to decipher what she said). It looked like she didn't want to be there. Why did they even hire her?!!! Also, USPS should have a policy that the employees must be speaking English without excessively thick accent that people can not understand. She talks sarcastically the entire time and round her eyes as she point out any mistake in the application. I avoid this spot at all cost. Had a passport appt right after school. My husband took off early from work and waited outside. I was 5min late bc of the pick up line and the manager reamed me in front of my children. I didn't back down and formally stated well I'm here now with the paper work for 2 of my kids. I let her know I didn't appreciate her rudeness but I'm here now. Out of spite she told the clerk to only process one application. I called three times in a row, and it just rang and rang and rang. July 2023: This post office lost our application for a P.O. box a few weeks ago and still can't find it. We received the key after submitting it, but when I came in to add my name to the box, they didn't know where the application was. They said they didn't have an application under our P.O. box number. The employee wrote down my license & other ID info to give to the new clerk, but when we called a few days later the new clerk didn't have the info. Just called them 3 times and they won't answer. Not sure why it's so hard to open a simple P.O. box. 8/4/23: Original P.O. Box issue now resolved, but none of the mail forwarded to it has been received. When coming in to ask, we were met with a dismissive attitude and were told that the supervisor is not available. "Survival Guide to the Post Office" I have patronized many of the post offices in the Pleasanton area. Here's the key thing to remember: The clerks are trained to sell you the MOST EXPENSIVE option. Do not fall for their tricks. Here are my secret tips: #1) Use the "blue" machine. It can process almost all of your needs, and you can avoid talking to a clerk. #2) Don't fall for the clerk's suggestion to buy "Express Mail." It is very expensive--that's why they want you to buy it. #3) Use "Media Mail" for books. The clerks won't tell you about this option, because it is cheap. They might even try to talk you out of it. Do not believe them. #4) Use "First Class" instead of Priority for items less than 1 pound. It will also go air mail, the same as Priority, and is much cheaper. #5) The "flat rate" Priority boxes are a bad deal in many cases, especially for lighter items. I live in Dublin but I prefer coming to this location. I have not encounter bad service here and employees here are always willing to go out of their way to help out Today's visit is mainly for passport renewal. I have done this before, so I know there would be a long wait. I ran many errands this morning and I got here as fast as I could (10:15am). We got called in at 12:30pm. To make the long story short, the passport lady was so fast once we got inside, she was friendly, and made our visit here well worth it. Make sure to have all forms filled out before coming. Stopped in quick to drop off two packages that needed to be scanned so I could have a receipt. I lucked out because there was only one other person in front of me. As soon as I walked in I had one person ask if I was just dropping off, I explained I needed a receipt and she said ok just wait in line. No problem. I was in line for probably 5 mins and had 2 other people ask if I was just dropping off and finally a manager told an employee to open her station and help me. It was great! They were all very attentive and so willing to help. I've been to other post offices where they couldn't care less how long people are waiting so I was very appreciative that they helped me so quick. Probably best experience I've had at a post office. Not sure why they have just 3 stars read more

Wow this place is awful! I had an appointment at 11:15 to get my passport done, I got there 2 min early at 11:12 and mind you it was empty in the post office. The lady working there with glasses tells me that I need to stand outside under the passport service line in and I am waiting...11:15 rolls around and nobody and then 11:20 then 11:25 rolls around and finally the lady doing the passport comes out of a room mind you the lady that was at the front with the glasses who knew I was there did not even inform the passport service person I was there. Long story short after they made a mistake with me they started telling her her when her next appointment has arrived. The other lady who seems to be her manager, comes out and tells her that her 11:45 appointment was there and asked if I had an appointment I told the situation that happened and she had the audacity to say it was my fault, saying I was not prepared when I had all of my paperwork and all my forms with me When it was my appointment. I downloaded the form that was on the passport website. The lady was 15 minutes behind, so I got very upset because she told me I wasn't ready when I had all my forms and I showed her everything that was to be brought for my appointment and on top of that the miscommunication at this place is awful. The lady who was in charge told me that she would squeeze me in on Friday between 12 to 1 because yesterday I took an earlier lunch 11 to 12 to get my passport done and it did not get done. I get no call and then at 12:38, I get a call asking if I am coming when I was informed not to just show up but to wait for a call Friday morning....i never got a call Friday morning.... I came here for my Passport renewal and let me just say, this is by far the worst customer service from one specific clerk. It seemed like she was the only American/11x8.5 clerk compared to the friendly South Asn clerks. It seemed like she was the one who ran the show when It came to passport processing. I didn't appreciate her rude demeanor to not only myself but to other customers here for the service. I advise her to make It snappy and retire so she can collect her little pension and make USPS a happier place without her awful low quality services. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! The lady helping with passport service was the RUDEST person I ever met. She would piss you off if you have any questions regarding the materials or have reacted to her request not fast enough. I'm pretty sure she expects you to be an expert at this even though it was HER job and she was the one trying to provide service. They had the MOST ineffective supervisor (the lady with short and straight hair) as well and I would have almost cursed the other male staff who talked to us while pointing at our faces when we tried to argue over a miscommunication with them rationally. None of the staff there knew how to respect others. I was 100% disgusted by their lack of respect and their poor attitude. Horrible, God Awful Service from the Supervisor named Gloria. She (Gloria) refused to listen to my questions, which were: why is my mail on hold at the post office? why am I not getting any packages delivered? Why have several of our packages get returned to sender? Why didnt the mailman deliver the packages at all? Since he was the one that informed that that we had everything on hold at the post office?! As I was trying to get these questions answered, very rudely, she spoke over me telling me she did not have time for this and she walked away. Upon requesting her presence again, she came back and threaten to call the Police AND ICE if I didnt leave... to which i said "what are you going to tell them? I have everything recorded on video" Soon after i said that, she yelled at one of her employees (in an extremely demeaning manner) and told him to watch me while she went back and called ICE. I have a VERY slight accent, and if that is any indication of my status in this country and her right to treat me like crap... well.... i honestly dont know what to tell you. What was also shocking is the way this woman kept commanding to every employee there, mind you they are all Asian descent (as far as I could tell), and the amount of rudeness and disrespect she treated everyone there was shocking! I printed a click-n-ship bar code which included instructions for the postal service employee to scan code and print label. I took it to the black ave. post office and the teller refused to scan and print the label. She charged me for new postage and told me to file for a refund on the already paid postage. We had a passport appointment today, and with a kid and a elderly parent , we got there 4 mins late from our appointment time. We were supposed to have 15 mins of time slot allotted for us from 10 to 10:15, we come in at 10:04 and the lady just doesn't entertain us, we make all possible requests and yet the lady is rude and doesn't care to anything we say. It would have still been fair if she was sticking to her timeline, the person after us, was on time but the lady came out asking for him only 3 mins after his appointment. How if it fair for them ti expect us to be on time but not adhere yo the same rule ? We obviously had a genuine reason to be late and we still had 10 mins in our time slot. We kept waiting between appointments to see if she could help us out, but it's ridiculous how insensitive she was. read more

Some of the small post offices does not offer this service so better inquire first. Just make sure to have the following with you: - Form DS 11 (if you were never issued a passport) http://travel.state.gov/passport/forms/ds11/ds11_842.html or DS 82 if you are just renewing yours. http://travel.state.gov/passport/forms/ds82/ds82_843.html - Valid State Issued ID - Copy of your old passport (for renewals) - Certificate of Naturalization or proof of citizenship (Original and Photocopied - Passport Photo - For children 16yrs old and below, both parents should be present (If not, a letter from the other parent) and the childs birth certificate. and Your moolah to pay for the fees. $135 for regular processing. It's higher if you want to receive it in 2 weeks. I paid roughly around $187 because I had it expedited. The people who works here are HELLA nice! Everyone has a smile on their faces and seems so happy to help customers. Definitely a great experience except for the wait time but it's all good...I was Yelping while waiting so im cool. This is one of the only locations that does passport processing without an appointment. They open at 10 AM and close at 3:30 PM....beware there is a separate line to the far left for this process. I went online http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english.html and filled out and printed my application, got my birth certificate, and pictures prior to arrival. I brought my checkbook, drivers licence, and a pen. I got there around 9:40 and waited in line for about a half an hour. Staff was very friendly and efficient....apparently I did almost everything right. Sadly the pictures I obtained were too pale. The staff took new pictures on-sight, for the same price I had paid at the UPS Store (separate review). I would recommend you just have the pictures taken here.....and avoid the intermediate step. I am sure my new passport will arrive in ample time for our trip this summer.....and the process was not nearly as awful as I had imagined. read more

I went in today at 12pm to get my passport. I called before I came in to see if they were still taking ppl for the process. This location does not take appts, and I was told they only process applications from 10am-3pm (first come first serve). And they close from 1-2pm for lunch. So we walked in and someone by the name of Rita approached us. I asked her about where to go because the door for the passport process was locked. She said "oh, they're done for today, they got 20ppl on the list". I looked around and saw no one waiting. I said "I just called 5min before coming in and I spoke to a gentleman that said they were still taking ppl until 3pm and it's first come first serve." Then Rita said " oh, you must of spoke to Andrew, he's the new supervisor, he doesn't know the process." I personally don't think that Rita should have placed blame on Andrew when we don't know who it actually was that I spoke to on the phone. Then she continued to show me the hours of operation on the door which she stated were incorrect!!! Why in the world would you post hours that are incorrect? AND why would you direct me to the posting on the door of the hours if they are incorrect in the first place!? She seemed very unknowledgeable to begin with, so I just waited until someone came out the door. No more than 2min later, a very nice lady came out and I told her why I was here and if it was possible that they could fit me in. She went over to check the list of those "20ppl" and asked another lady (not Rita) if there was anyone here waiting for a passport. And the other lady said No. So then the nice lady said, "OK, I'll take your application". I was so happy that she was able to fit me in. I didn't get her name, but she took my passport picture and the process was quick and painless. 5 stars for the nice lady, and zero stars for Rita for being rude and just plain ignorant in her answers. read more

I have had both good experience here and bad. Staff are sometimes lazy and looks like they cut wait to go home whereas some staff (Rita) is always happy and ready to help. I know few of them and once they know you they ar= actually very friendly. It gets really busy sometimes and wait time is easily more than 30 minutes.
