This location is a post office that also handles US Passports The staff here was super friendly and helpful! I came to renew my passport with paperwork filled out ahead of time, turned out I had the wrong application They got me the correct form waited patiently for me and helped me expedite it for about $30 less than websites said. the long lines at this location is something I do not like. It takes forever for them to be able to get you in and out of the post office. I wish they would do a better job with crowd management or people management or customer management which is probably the better way to phrase it they never have the stamps I am looking for either. Every other post office that goes to has a multitude of different option wasn't it comes to purchasing stamps but for whatever reason this post office location never can have the ones I'm looking for. I am surprised at the low ratings for this post office. Went in there this morning to mail a package at about 11:30 a.m. (Tuesday morning in January). There was a greeter lady in the lobby who asked me what I was here for, to drop off or if I needed postage on my package. I needed postage so I stood in line for less than a minute before a clerk called me over. She weighed my package, made sure it was safe to ship (no flammables, that type of thing), asked me if I needed stamps (I did) and had me out the door within 5 minutes. That is good customer service!! I mail a package weekly for an organization I'm part of so I'll definitely be back here to take care of my mailing needs. read more

I really try to avoid this location as much as possible, only in emergency situations do I find myself there. I've been living in this area for almost a little over here now and every time I come to this location, the workers here do not have a sense of urgency, attitude, and customer service. Did I mention the lack of sense of urgency? Unfortunately the workers here are of age and take their time with everything regardless of how long the line is. They never apologize for the wait or delay they just stand there looking dumb. Please avoid this location at all cost unless you have an extra 30 minutes to waste in line. read more

I was running errands and got behind because of traffic. Because of this, I got to the post office a few minutes after they had closed. I had to get a package out that day, and David was kind enough to take it. He even helped me get the label taped on the box, though I know he wanted to close up shop on a Friday evening and get home. I don't think I've EVER had a package actually delivered to my address, instead I'm required to stop in and pick up whenever I have something shipped to my home. This fact is only made worse when the post office isn't even open until after I get to work, and closed well before I get home. I can't just take time off of work to pick up my packages. ZERO STARS. ZERO. There isn't a word to describe how incompetent and rude this office is. To save you paragraphs I'll list. 1. Moved 2 months ago and change my address, set up mail forwarding and informed delivery. 2. Two weeks ago my address is suddenly marked vacant. All mail and packages are then sent back to sender 3. The phone is unplugged so you quite literally can't get through to get help. 4. Their hours are after most people start work and close before we're off. So picking up a package or dealing with anything is impossible since they don't answer the phone. 5. My mail (when I was getting it) was always someone else's or my packages were in another box and stollen. 6. The mail I did get was mangled-looked like the garbage disposal ate it. 7. On saturdays when it's the only time you can go the line is out the door before they even open at 9am. 8. The staff is so unbelievable rude it took everything I had to not ask this woman to talk to a man who didn't speak much English more nicely. I should have. Good friendly fast service by Danielle. Not much of a line when I got here at 145 on a Monday afternoon. Usually a stop at a post office is very frustrating and nerve racking. This one went well, line was very short and Danielle was helpful. She gave me plenty of choices for stamps. I chose the total eclipse of the sun series which are very interesting because they start out black and then when they get into the sunlight they change color and become lighter and you can see the sun spots. Benjamin Franklin has GOT to be rolling over in his grave! Absolutely the worst customer service one could ever dream of in any USPS facility. There's some nice staff here, but they are supervised/managed by inept and unqualified/uncaring civil servants. Try to mail a priority package there now using one of the pre-paid/no weight limit boxes? They now don't supply the priority tape for their own boxes. Yet they won't TELL you that while you're waiting in line forever because they're so understaffed. Then you can either buy some of their over-priced tape ($4.00 for a tiny roll,) or go home, use your own tape, and come back and wait in-line for another eternity. This station is the reason Fed-Ex and even the unreliable UPS will continue to thrive/eventually put USPS out of business. It's just a matter of time. Wonder why there's a stigma about some postal workers being lazy and unkind? Go to this station and see it live for yourself. The red-vested supervisor "Channella" (sp?) is a perfect example of apoplexy and apathy. Ask her a question...she won't know and she won't care. The place is a disgrace to the honorable men/women who do work for USPS. The sign says, "Call the station manager if you don't receive good service"...good luck with that. Not sure why there are so many negative feedback for this post office. This location is the closest to my house and I come here often to send my packages off. Place is always clean and organized, even when I have to come after work around 3 pm. Sometimes they've been out of the priority boxes that I need, but not a big problem for me. Lines are short or go quickly and the person I deal with behind the counter has always been professional and answered any questions I had with knowledge. My packages are always handled with care and are delivered before expected. No complaints on my side for this location and I'll continue to come here. read more

This post office is close to home and i come here weekly, the staff is so curious and helpful. Normally there's an African American woman working who is always doing her best to greet customers and access our needs. Charles is also very helpful and always greets customers coming in and when they approach the counters. I feel like post office employees don't get enough recognition, these two employees i see multiple times a week and they're always working they're hardest. This location is always always BUThis location seems like they could use more employees. But for sure the African American woman, and Charles should most definitely be recognized for their efforts. They do not go unacknowledged. Four stars for them! September 2019: CALLING ALL POSTMASTERS & If needed an attorney. Gene is ths locations manger and it's extremely unfortunate that out of all the employees gene is the one getting paid to have zero information regarding his JOB in its entirety. For a span of 6 months, 2-3 " new" postal carriers, multiple address changes. This location is the worst of them all. I recently placed a mail hold ONLINE. Of course I had usps deliver a 9 pound package and drop it on my color step. The manger and the postal carrier looked me in my face and told me it was place inside a box, although a neighbor sent a photo of the box outside my door. As well as receiving notification that it was left " At front door ". Not to mention that over the span of 6 months I've been receiving informed delivery notifications designating all the mail to be delivered, although this location doesn't actually DELIVER IT!! it's absurd. When distribution is giving this location direction, this location is DOING NOTHING. Literally NOTHING. not even DELIVERING MAIL!! when i brought this to the attention of manager there just so happened to be another customer also complaining they're post man isn't receiving mail! THIS IS A FEDERAL BUILDING AND IT IS A FEDERAL CRIME TO TAMPER WITH PEOPLES MAIL. Gene told me he had no mail for me and that after my 9 day mail hold i had NO MAIL. the next day home still no mail. Day 12 i arrive back at the station... no mail. I finally make gene aware of my rights, before he decided to " check again " where he then arrive with MONTHS and packages worth of mail !!! I don't know if he hates women, women of color, people of color. But he has black employees, Asian employees, and lives in a demographic where WE ALL DESERVE EQUAL AND FAIR TREATMENT. This is my mail. Bills. Important documents. I've Spoken to multiple supervisors about this issue, and i mail out over 10-30 packages a week at this location so every single employee and supervisor is well aware that gene isn't the person who should be in that role. His unprofessional demeanor decisions, lack of communication and inability to comprehend the cultural competency that's required to manage a federal building is probably why majority of these reviews are expressing similar views of unsatisfactory experiences. The line here is ALWAYS ridiculously long. Doesn't matter what day or what time of day, the line goes all the way out the door from the lobby and I have to wait over a half hour every time. I order things online all the time and unfortunately an item I order twice a month has to go through this post office to get to me. At first, they were O.K. but now just in the last 45 days, they have lost two of my items. They were ordered back to back actually. I couldn't believe it. The tracking just says it's pending at their office. After a month it still says that! I am trying to convince the company that sends things out through them to use a different Post Office or a different mailing company. And after talking to them they told me that I am not the only one with lost orders. And it is not unusual for people even living down the street from them not to get their stuff for a week. Of course, you can't talk to them directly and the customer service number just tells you to do a claim that goes nowhere. Something has to be done about this Post Office. I sell stuff online, so I use up to 4 different post office locations near my house to ship. I'm at the post office a few times a week. In comparison to other post offices, this one does not measure up. I am here regularly, and the whole vibe inside is negative. The counter staff is not friendly, and they offer little customer support. I have heard them talking down to customers fairly often. Sometimes there is a triage employee in lobby to greet you, but they are not able to help you because their equipment is broken or they cannot login. I think that the staff could use some retraining. Skip this location if you can. read more

So I was mailing a dildo to a special someone out of state. Apparently I had it in an overnight box and the woman behind the counter insisted I didn't want to overnight because it was expensive. Fair enough. But the woman takes my box and proceeds to rip the tape off and open it. I assume she was doing this to show me I could flip the box inside out to make it a regular priority box. Well she could have just said that. But no, she insisted on opening the box and pulling stuff out. I literally had to grab the box from her hands and yank it away. Yes, yank it away. Understaffed, rude employees don't smile and always seem put out by the mere presence of ...customers. I've had a number of unpleasant experiences with these government paid flunkys. I have a home based business and don't care to use my home address as my business address so I 've had a PO Box at this location for over 5 years. I also have conducted most of my business online so I use USPS exclusively over UPS or Fed Ex. I'm learning this is a mistake! On my last trip to the dreaded post office I discovered I'd been locked out of my PO Box for failure to pay fees. Fees expire ever 6 or 12 months. The brilliant post office leaves an envelope in the box to make you aware of fees due. I don't have a business that requires daily or even weekly checking of mail so the payment was late unbeknownst to me. I went to the counter and the clerk added a $20.00 late fee. I asked to have it removed she said she'd have to get a supervisor. The supervisor "Trudy" came to the window and immediately noted that I would have to pay the late fee. She offered no solution, compromise and was extremely unprofessional. I was also surprised to see she was dressed for "happy hour" had globs and globs of mascara clumped to her nasty little lashes, gawdy jewelry, big giant hair, cleavage exposed and fake nails. Now this may be neither here nor there, but if she works for the government it's probably in her best interest to not dress like someone on an episode of "Mob Wives." Long story short (too late) Ms. Trudy the rude, crude, socially unrefined postal employee with zero fashion sense offered zero assistance. She only offered that I could provide a certificate from a doctor or hospital stating that I was incapacitated at time fees were due and then she could waive the $20.00 fee. Trudy left, I paid the $20.00 fee while complaining to the clerk. "You're barking up the wrong tree" is what this other government employee offered as comfort. Our tax dollars hard at work, folks. More useless, overpaid government flunkys. At this critical time in the country when the postal service is the slowest form of communication and hanging on by a tread, I would expect more. I'm glad they no longer have job stability. Buyer Beware. Stick to email billing and FedEX shipping. read more

If negative stars were possible, that's what the Shaw Butte Station would get. Got a handwritten note on a plain piece of paper (no official notice) that my mailbox was full, and that I had to go to the PO to retrieve my mail. I requested a call (via the website) to discuss, but was told very rudely that I could either come get my mail or they will return it to sender. (No effort to hear the issue.) Because birthday gift cards were in the mail, I went to the PO to get my mail. They are not open after hours, so I had to go during the workday (costing me work time and money). When I got there, I was NOT allowed to talk to the Station Manager or anyone in charge. (They were either "not in," or "with a carrier.") After a clerk gave me my mail, I realized why my box was full...it was filled with SOMEONE ELSE'S MAIL! I filed a complaint with the Office of the Consumer Advocate (for the postal service) in DC. Nothing but a "Sorry, but that's our policy" response. They will NOT take responsibility or try to resolve it. So, be warned...if they screw up, that's their policy! (Yes, I'm saying screwing up is apparently their policy!) Don't expect any sort of resolution, or anything but a rude, curt response (if they agree to talk to you at all!) It was somehow MY fault that my mailbox was full of someone else's mail, so I had to pay the cost (lost wages) for it. If I am at fault in something, I take responsibility and bear the cost. However, not the USPS! NO CUSTOMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR MISTAKES MADE BY THE US POSTAL SERVICE. I grew up the daughter of a 30+ year postal veteran who was an outstanding manager. While his well-run, friendly office was miles above standard, I know that is not the norm. But I also know that good service is possible when responsibility is taken and issues are addressed. Just don't expect it (or anything remotely close) at the Shaw Butte Station. It is horribly managed, they have no desire to service their customers, and they truly deserve something less than the 1 star I'm giving them. read more
