This is the only USPS close to my house, so I come here on several occasions. I hardly get in line, and I always use the automated system. It's pretty self explanatory and I've never had a problem w/it. The parcel chute has been broken for about a month now, I don't know why they don't bother fixing it. The other reason for the low review is parking. I've never had a problem parking on the street, but it's still street parking. Don't want to wait in line? They have an awesome automated teller that will let you mail letters or small packages or buy stamps. You must use a debit card or credit card, though. There's a minimum purchase, so you can't just mail one letter. The people at the counter are hit or miss. There's a very sweet, young lady who just started and she was really nice. However, there's an older lady named Gree-Lan who is unreasonably rude! I had to cash a postal money order and my dad wrote "happy birthday" all over it. I was cashing it on my birthday, and my ID expired that day. Rather than saying "happy birthday" or anything, she YELLED that my ID was expiring that day. When I told her I was on my way to the DMV to fix that, she got crazy. She snatched my ID out of my hand and held my postal money order up the the light for a good five minutes, acting like it was fake. Then she slapped a $100 bill on the counter and waved me off with her hand, like a dog. WTF? I was so upset that I wrote a letter to USPS and they said they would look into this. read more

Since I have lived in Monrovia, I have had deliveries scheduled through the Monrovia Post Office over 50 times. They have yet to deliver anything on a Sunday. I always get the message unable to deliver or recipient not at home. I have been home most times when they said I wasn't. THEY STOLE MY PACKAGE! Beware of this post office, they're notorious for having "substitute" mailmen that steal packages. If you want to have a valuable stolen, make sure it comes through this office. The supervisor Erasto might seem generous, but he doesn't do anything to actually help you. Unprofessional and they argue with the customers on how they're right and you're wrong.... no matter the case. Called and went in person because my package was never delivered, nor scanned. They told me that the package was lost and the postman "can't remember" if he delivered it. I wait outside every time my packages are due to deliver, and low and behold, it wasn't there that day. I've been to my fair share of bad US post offices before, but this one really takes the cake. I've been here multiple times to ship and pick up packages, but every time their customer service is the worst. The employees are extremely rude and condescending, racist (I've noticed they treat white people much better than they treat people of other races), and are always giving misleading information. I've had packages not properly delivered to my address, and even their customer service via phone is terrible. There's a UPS a block away from this post office. It might be slightly more expensive to ship from UPS, but the customer service is ten times better than this run down building. read more

Drive through mail boxes are gtreat. Automated stamp machine is nice. The front staff in the main walk up counter are nice. But packages get lost, delayed through them for weeks. Our mailman looks like "papa smurf" and is extremely lazy. Doesn't come to the door to deliver certified or packages. Let the notice in the box, I signed it and today it was not in the box. I was right there to retrieve it. He sped off to the next house. Send overnight or 2 day only, that is the only way stuff gets send out correctly from here. Just like any other post office, sometimes the employees are rude, but they are usually very helpful. Don't let the rudeness ruin your day. Go in & out as fast as you can. Also, it gets packed between 2-5pm on weekdays. They have an automated machine to get stamps and mail packages so that helps lessen the crowd. They also help people on the side that are there to just pick up their mail, so that's a plus. God speed! read more

Ive been to many post offices in the San Gabriel Valley and the Monrovia Post Office is absolutely one of the best Ive seen.A close 2nd would be Temple City.I will tell you the ALL the clerks here do their very best to get you what you need and get on your way FAST.They are very friendly and intuitive and treat your like FAMILY.These folks are Professionals in their trade.I have witnessed the occasional impatient short tempered JACKASS that storms in there with a Hard On and who is in a HURRY with a pissed off attitude and these clerks even treat him right ,gets him what he needs with his postage and gets him out the door FAST (thank God). Oh ,,,and by the way ,,in my experience ,I have been helped by all # Afro American clerks in this post office and they have been nothing but NICE to me, HELPFUL,,,and sweet as PIE regardless of what the prior reviewer said Yeah if you want a REAL post office with competent friendly clerks check out Monrovia ,you wont go anywhere else. This is a smaller post office than most so I can get busy but the staff is super nice and do their best. I gave 4 stars because I'd like to see more than 1-2 tellers on any given day especially during busy times. read more

I agree.. Stay away. Especially if you are an older blind gentleman. I was running in and out to mail a package using the self-service kiosk. An older blind gentleman asked me if I could help him find the Zip Code to for Albuquerque, NM. I asked if he went up to the counter. It's the post office, surely they can tell him.. He said no. They told him to go look it up on the machine.. I said to myself., he can't see the letters/numbers to look it up? Yup.. go look it up on the Kiosk under Look up Information.. ok, fine for me., but not for an older man that can not see. I absolutely agree with all the bad reviews. The customer service is mediocre and rude, and clerks are very unaccommodating. I just moved to Monrovia from Sierra Madre and have visited it once, to drop off a small package (a return to Zappos). The return label was already on, and all I needed to do is tape it up and drop it off. Well, when I asked to use their packaging tape, the response was "No! No! You have to buy it! Go buy it!" I was like Are you kidding me?! Anywhere I have ever gone they would always tape it FOR me or let me use their tape! What's the big deal? So I just turned around and left, with my package. I have never encountered such bad service from a supervisor. In order to get a simple package from Amazon, which we received an email stating that delivery package can be pickup from this local post office, along with a tracking # provided. I was first helped by a teller/cs, but could not help me so she rang for supervisor. This supervisor asked with little intention to help and with an attitude. With my name and the tracking number she could not locate our package. What is the use of having a tracking #? Shouldn't the tracking # indicate if it's out for deliver or whatever? She seemed bothered by me indicating that my USPS confirmation email came from Amazon. Finally she found it after giving her the delivery address, which she didn't want at first. Calling USPS was also horrible, all automated, that's why amazon did the calling for us. read more

I've been to this location many times as I find it is not as crowded as Arcadia's post office. I love been able to get my business done fairly quickly and getting out of there. However, customer service is pretty mediocre. The ladies that work the counter are pretty "moody". I've come in here they treat you decently and other times I've come in and they make you feel like you're inconveniencing them by coming in. So if you don't mind subpar customer service and shorter lines then come on down. Otherwise, you can get much better service at Arcadia but with longer lines. Take your pick folks. read more

I'm actually going to give the post office two stars, when in fact they don't deserve it. The only reason I'm going to give it two stars is because one (just one) of the post office workers is really helpful...and I wish I could remember her name. Unfortunately for them this particular incident she wasn't around to help. Our videographer for our wedding was shipping our wedding video. He shipped it on a Friday and did two day Priority Mail. Two day! As of Tuesday the package still hadn't arrived and when you track the package it still said it had left San Diego on Saturday and there was no information past that. I went into the post office and basically what they told me was because the package wasn't in Monrovia they couldn't help me. I went back every single day and they basically rolled their eyes at me telling me "the package isn't lost, it's just taking its time." Ummm.....when you send something two day priority mail, it shouldn't take 7 days!!!! The package went from San Diego to the sorting center, to Sierra Madre, back to the sorting center and finally 7 days later arrived in Monrovia. Let me clarify that the sender had the correct address, zip code, names and everything. This package was just going from San Diego to Monrovia (about 100 miles) and it took 7 days! Word of advice, don't ever go into the Monrovia post office looking for help, they will just send you away. Second, ship everything FedEx or UPS, it will save you time and a huge headache. I ordered an item on Amazon with my Prime membership for the next day delivery, and I came to office on Saturday to receive that package. But Amazon decided that USPS is the best way to deliver a rush order. Isn't that people use P.O. Box because they don't trust USPS? Anyway, I came in at 7:30AM to wait for the package. Our office is normally closed during the weekend, so I do everything I can to show that someone is inside the building. I open the gate, front door, warehouse door, and I turn on all lights in the lobby area and conference room. I parked my car in the middle of the parking lot, and it's visible from the street. I even sat in the conference room overlooking the parking lot and street through a wall glass. Then I noticed the deliver status on Amazon changed to "Deliver attempted. Business closed." I called Amazon to have a 3-way call with USPS, and the USPS guy said "We will re-deliver on Monday." There are two things I don't understand. 1. Why Amazon thinks USPS is a highly trusted carrier for rush delivery? 2. Why USPS think it is okay for people to receive their rush order two days late? I am willing to pay more at Amazon.com if they promise that they will not use USPS for delivery. From where I sat in the conference room, I can see any car coming from the street, and both our business doors were open the whole morning. There's no notice or any evidence that the postman did come by. So I truly believe that someone at Monrovia Postal Office just scanned "Delivery Attempted. Business Closed" without even trying to deliver the package. read more

I just finished a lovely day of christmas shopping and wrapping with my two young daughters and we went to Monrovia post office to send our packages, both nationally and internationally. After waiting in line for 20 mins, our server whom i was relying on to guide me on sending rates and times, relayed this information in a very demeaning manner towards me. My questions of clarification seemed to irritate her. I asked before i left the counter if I would be able to come to the front of the line again, whence i had completed everything, and she reassured me that this would be so. I moved to the outer area of the post office foyer, to complete my wrapping and addressing and forms. Whilst there, the roller door came down, preventing me from getting back into finish all my business. I had US postal merchandise which i had to pay for. In order to get back into finish my business and transaction, i had to get down under the roller door and plead to be let back in. I heard one of the postal clerks, say that the Post Mistress, would have to make that call. Realizing I had postal merchandise, i told them this and they were more willing to let me back in, but only after my young daughter had told them this as well. On my return, I started with another clerk, who told me that I had filled in the wrong forms. I explained that the first clerk, had given the form to me. Clerk #1 yelled that i had misinformed her of the number of items to be sent. So i filled in the new form and was passed back along to Clerk #1, the same charming clerk who "helped " me initially and now, because it was after 3pm close time and i was still there, they were all very irritated. Just like the above complaint from Gil B, when i finally had the courage to say something about the the situation and how i had to get down under the roller door, i was immediately "shut down" by another clerk . Although I am young, I wear a hearing aid, and I told them that this is likely the reason i did not hear what they had said, but they were not willing to listen to me. And kept saying that I was "angry at them, because I wear a hearing aid" (which i have done for two years!). I tried to assure them that I was NOT angry with them because of this, but because I had to get down to beg to be let back in to pay and finish my transaction. They were unwilling to listen and even threatened that it didn't matter what I thought, because their supervisor (a female) was here and present. Finally, I mentioned that I was unhappy with the clerks attitude and that a smile at this time of year would be pleasant. The neighboring clerk said that I had the attitude problem and that "we do not get paid to smile"! The clerks at Monrovia, don't get paid to smile and they obviously don't get paid to be pleasant. So don't be expecting that from them. I feel sorry for them. Its not a wonder that the US post is heading out of business and has a terrible reputation. Happy Holidays!!!!!! read more

Went to Monrovia post office today for my first time and had THE worst customer experience ever. I usually go to the Arcadia location but errands had me in Monrovia. The lady working was snotty right from the start. She asked me what service I'd like to ship my boxes and I said the most economical. She quotes me $13 for a 7-10 day delivery. So I asked what the next one was and she says $15 for 3-day. I said I will take that one. She then adds "well you wanted the cheapest one." I explained for a couple dollars more I'd pay it to beat the 7-10 day transit. Its my choice. she should just keep her mouth shut. At the Arcadia location, the clerk would have offered me all my choices on the screen and let me know my options. Then, I said I needed to buy stamps. She asks "what kind?" I said Forever stamps. She says they all are. So I asked for my options. She said do you want the commemorative stamps pointing to a book. I said I don't know...I wanted options. She then asks if I wanted Flags. I said no. So, she then proceeds to throw the binder down in front of me and said then you want the commemorative stamps. This lady needs to work on her communication skills. I obviously don't know what stamps they have and are called. At all the other post office locations I've been to, they volunteerarily give you your options when you tell them you want stamps. This lady had horrible customer service and a very bad attitude. When it came time to pay, she wouldn't accept my credit card that had CHECK I D on the back due to post office policy. This is absurd since I have gone to many locations and they have never rejected my credit card due to no signature. EVER. I asked to see the supervisor and she walks out with a sour attitude already even before she asks me what is wrong. Bad move. She then rolls her eyes as she walks away saying its the law before we've finished talking as if she has more important things to tend to. It was just horrible! Every bit of it. What a shame. On top of it, it's Christmas Eve - where is the holiday spirit.....yes, you're working .....but make the most out of it. I did not sign up to get bad attitude and service from you on top of spending money. I did not deserve any of that. They should feel blessed to even have jobs ....there are way more deserving people than them that would appreciate their jobs. It's not my fault you have to work. Do not take it out on me! I will never be setting foot into that post office again. Arcadia and Brea locations are by far the best. They are smarter and friendly.....I've noticed they are busier too....that should have been a sign. Monrovia was empty...and it's Christmas time. read more

This place is a joke! I dropped off a PREPAID POSTAGE package to get it shipped out. Postage was clearly enough, yet they have the guts to RETURN that package to me, saying Not enough postage. The only reason why I come to this location is because its walking distance to my house. I suggest you try the post office in Arcadia off Santa Anita. SOMETHING is very wrong when an envelope mailed from Monrovia to La Verne hasn't arrived after seven days! It has gone back and forth between Monrovia and Santa Clarita clearing house four times! Sender called Monrovia two days ago, and was told "machine is reading incorrectly, but problem was fixed!" Guess what?? It went back to Santa Clarita yesterday, and now is BACK in Monrovia today! What a "cluster f**ck! By the way, this is a rental check in a Priority envelope! Since I'm the receipient, I called and spoke with Laura, supervisor, and I use that term loosely!! Mailed a priority mail package (with tracking number) from this post office and more than 2 weeks later, I still don't know what happened to it. When it was not delivered within the given time, I went to the post office to inquire. They referred me to an 800 number. The 800 number referred me to a USPS missing mail web site. The web site referred me back to the local post office. The post office then referred me to the 800 number AGAIN. When I balked at the notion of being sent in circles, it was absolutely futile.
