Please make sure you leave the location with a receipt confirming that your items were dropped off! "Do you need a receipt?" "Yes!" They will not care for your items if you simply drop off! I recently dropped off my university textbook rentals and one of the textbook box was lost! I understand that I should have requested a receipt to confirm that my packages were scanned but they were quite busy and I was wrong in assuming that they would simply scan and care for my packages. I called and the young lady was rude and interrupting simply stating "Call Customer Service. There is nothing we can do. Call Customer Service." Customer service was not helpful either. It's a post office, so I generally am not visiting unless I have to. I will say that the people working here have always been very patient and incredibly nice. I recently went out of town for a while and didn't check my mail. They looked in back, took my number and made every attempt to locate my mail. As mentioned in my other statements about USPS regarding the lack or urgency and empathy, USPS has good people working for them. The system the use needs to jump to the 21st Century. Lorenzo saved the day by going to the USPS in Downtown Avondale to find my certified mail. He knew it was there unfortunately Avondale USPS didn't give a better effort. It took me 4 trips. My package has been lost for almost a week and I walked into the post office because the 800 number that they want you do do everything through is no help at all(not to mention I called the day it was supposed to be delivered and I was on hold for an hour and they told me it was going to arrive later that night! ) , so me wanting to talk to an actual person face to face turned into me now having to go online to do everything. - [ ] October 1st I went to the post office located on western in Avondale to pick up my mail because I placed a hold on my mail on September 23rd. I was told that all Avondale mail was sent to the Good Year post office. I went to Good Year and my mail was not there. So October 18th I went back and same thing occurred. Monday October 21 I went to the post office and provided a change of address and also was advised to place a holder on my mail because the mail that was going to be delivered that week might not be included in the change of address. On Friday (October 24th) I went to pick up mail (from the Avondale location) because I'd seen what was going to be delivered through the Informed Delivery Daily Digest email. The Avondale location advised me to go to Goodyear they didn't have my mail. I arrived at the Goodyear location and a very nice and a respectful associate advised me that they didn't have it but they would tell the mail carrier to go back to the location to get my mail and come back the next morning. Saturday (October 25th) I went to pick up my mail and again they didn't have my mail. The worst part of them not having my mail is that the mail carrier never even went to pick the mail back up. One of the associates advises me that the supervisor would go and pick my mail up. My only question was, about what time would it be ready? She asked the supervisor (Lorenzo)and he yells from across the floor how can I help you. I'm very puzzled because I thought he already knew what was going on and I didn't understand why he was yelling at me from across the floor. I tell him I just want to know when my mail will be back and he then yells for me to walk over to him so that we are not yelling across the floor. As a supervisor I would think the professional thing to do would be to walk over to the customer and talk to them and not the customer have to walk up to him. I walk up to him and I say I only wanted to know what time to be back and he says well first thing is first do you have a key to the mailbox (first and foremost why would I be at the post office if I had key?). That lets me know he never even talked to his team about the situation which further let's me know my concerns are not being handled properly. Because my Dialect is very culturally influenced and I'm a young African American woman and had on sweats and a T-shirt on and some glitter on my face I felt prejudged and racially profiled due to the lack of professionalism I was receiving and the fact he was talking to me like I was incompetent. He didn't take ownership of the situation or make me feel like everything would be fixed he talked down to me and like I was ignorant. He never even introduced his self he just went right into questioning me and acting as if this was my fault. I've never felt so disrespected in my life. I personally took 2 cards for my granddaughters to the GY post office. One of the cards never arrived. I am so upset because there was something special in the card that I cannot replace. She never got the card. The male PO person marked non machinable on the card and charged me extra. For what? LOST MAIL! And now they tell me they can do nothing about it. Needing to address an ongoing problem in opening my mailbox, called the Main Goodyear branch. First call rang for 5 minutes and disconnected. Second call was answered, and I stated my problem. Was told I need to come in, wait in line, pay $40, and the lock could be changed. There are several problems with this, being that I don't walk well or stand in line for long periods, also, you know, Covid, plus the fact that I cannot leave my home without having a nurse here to care for my husband, which is pricey, and I don't have open-ended time periods to do so. Oh, also, you first have to put a hold on your mailbox, then wait until the job is done, whenever that is, then take off the stop again, which probably involves your having to present yourself at said post office both times. It was surprising to me that this was really a solution, as I felt these things should be maintained. I don't know when I'll be able to get over there to do this, it's about 10 miles from my home, and, in the meantime, I need my mail. There is no other way to pay this high price and no way to get in the mailbox until I do. In trying to discuss this problem with the employee, trying to find alternatives, etc., she finally told me that she had said how to do it, then hung up on me. I realize that in the center of the universe, which is the environment occupied by every superior, arrogant, entitled person in any and all jobs, big or small, that this is probably considered to be the appropriate behavior, but as someone who is aged and disabled, a 24/7 caregiver, just needing to be able to quit fighting with the lock on the mailbox, I think it should be easier for everyone to resolve this issue, rather than having to 1. stop your mail 2. Go to the busy PO where there is always a line 3. Covid 4. Pay $40 5. Wait til someone gets around to doing the job, without your mail for that period, without being able to schedule at a snap! to wait on hold or go back to the post office to take off the stop, and, after the abrupt hangup, knowing there is no further contact possible because nobody cares, I give this whole situation a big zero. As many others also feel, I hate giving this enterprise a "1" but I have to. I'm left feeling that nobody cares at all about anything or any body. If this "solution" has existed for this many years, it needs to be reviewed and made easier. They know how to make it hard, so I think they could also make it easy. I would never recommend coming to this post office. The workers are incredibly rude and obviously don't know anything about customer service. They are unwilling to offer any help and talk to you as if you are an inconvenience to them. It is extremely disappointing to find out that our government hires people like this to serve the public. The woman working here was yelling and acting as if I was stupid and refused to even try to help me with a problem. She basically said she didn't know and it was not her responsibility. We seem to always be receiving the wrong mail in our box. This has been happening more and more often. About a week ago I received a package that was intended for our next door neighbor. I've also ordered items from Amazon on multiple occasions where the tracking status showed that the item was delivered but I never received it. This happened to me JUST yesterday. I'm so tired of this! You people seriously have one job! Do it right, please! It shouldn't be that difficult to ensure that mail is delivered to the correct box. I should also mention that trying to get in touch with the post office is another issue altogether. Either they don't answer the phone or you're placed on hold for a ridiculous length of time. It doesn't seem like their drivers are held accountable for not doing their jobs properly. read more

I have only had a couple of interactions with the folks from this USPS but they have been excellent. In trying to intercept a package today, while we were too late, Kathy was extremely helpful and had excellent follow up. Too many times we're left with some going to "call us back" and we never hear back. Not only did she call me back, it was super fast and she had the information I needed. Thank you Kathy, and the others at this location. It's so nice to find a business, especially a government business, where the employees still have good work ethics and seem to enjoy their jobs. read more

They always ask me questions about what I'm shipping like I'm a criminal and give me some sort of hassle regardless of why I'm there. Very strange. Postal service in Avondale and Goodyear are the worst I've ever been associated. Their phone is continuously busy so its impossible to contact them without making a drive to the post office itself. When you arrive at either of the two post offices, you can expect to stand in a relatively short line anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes usually to find that you are in the wrong line because nothing is marked and have to start over. My issues are with my actual mail and with parcel delivery. We receive mail at a centrally located box. The box is over a decade old and the locks have weathered so its very difficult to open the box. I went to the post office to see what to do about it and was rather rudely told it was my responsibility and I would have to contact a lock smith. I was given the phone number for the lock smith who promptly told me I didn't own the box so I couldn't request work and would have to contact the post office. Apparently, the world will turn cold before this issue gets fixed. The second issue is with parcel delivery. The usual issue is that packages are so frequently put in the wrong boxes that most people in the community simply do the work of the post office by seeing to it that packages are correctly delivered. Its easier than losing someone's mail by returning it to the post office. The second issue is repair of the parcel boxes. The parcel box the post office used cannot be opened by the customer because a key has been broken off in the lock. Its obvious what's happened but instead of repairing the box, the post office simply continues to use it depending on the customer to go to the post office and get assistance opening the parcel bin. I currently have a package in this bin. Its been there for 4 days because its impossible to contact the post office. I finally called the main 800 number for the post office and opened a case. This isn't a matter of funding, this is just plain poor management and you need to address it. read more

This is the WORST USPS EVER!! The employees are very rude and slow and have no customer service skills. Also I find it unprofessional that the lady who delivers my mail is in worn jeans and t shirts, what happened to the uniforms? She also puts the package box key where you can't see it (like between the paper ad stacks!!) and doesn't put it up towards the front where you can see it. So you get home and go to throw out the junk mail and hear the key fall into the trash. Also very lazy and will not drive to your house to deliver a package. This post office is continually returning our packages even though we have addressed this situation with them on a number of occasions. They are good at delivering the junk mail that's for sure but not the important mails. Sure we live in a brand new community and a new construction since September of this year but FedEx or UPS does not have this problem they both deliver all of our packages. read more

I ordered an item off of eBay for a really good deal. Paid $20 instead of $80+. My package went out for delivery but was never updated at the end of the day. About five days after that, I finally submitted a lost package claim. They called me a few days later letting me know it would be about 7 days before I would hear back about my package. I finally hear back and they can't tell me any information about my package. And if I want a refund I have to print my receipt and go into the post office in person. Leaving me with all of the footwork to fix their mistake. I understand mistakes happen, but this is not the correct way to fix them. read more

He listened to my problem and took down my information. I did not get my issue resolved right away, but I am happy to say that the issue appears to have been corrected today. The rating system needs to be updated with negative stars. This post office is the worst place to have to deal with. Typically, an individual should have some type of basic knowledge about there job and should be able to assist a customer, not this place. I dropped a package off thru the drop box, package was prepaid and all the necessary paperwork was taped to the package. The package was never scanned over the course of 5 days. It wasnt until I filed a claim, went down there complaining, got the ATF and Goodyear PD involved the packages suddenly reappeared. I received a phone call from from Avondale post office stating my packages were being sent back to me due to them not having the correct paperwork since I was shipping firearms. I am a FFL. I honestly believe since the packages had the appropriate paperwork label to the boxes, that an employee was going to steal the packages. The postal investigator I spoke with also believes something was clearly wrong since the packages were never scanned. Long story short, avoid this location at all cost. If you are shipping something of value, do not drop it in the drop box since this location may not scan the package. If it is not scanned, they never received it. If they never received it, you will not get the insured amount. read more

Attention Avondale Residents! Please know that you are expected to use 2 different post offices (but the one on Western Ave is "YOUR" post office") EXCEPT...if you have your mail held, go to Goodyear. EXCEPT...if you need a new key for your box, go to Goodyear. The only time you should use "YOUR" post office, is if you have a package. I had a delivery notice from our carrier to pick up my package at the post office. There are 2 addresses, 1 for Avondale, 1 for Goodyear. Neither are circled mind you - so I head out to Goodyear, where I have always gone to get my held mail and to have a key made. I was standing in line thinking what a nice po this is, new, bright, big and I was impressed with how nice the clerks were. UNTIL! It was my turn to get my package. I was told my package is not there, it's at "MY" post office in Avondale, because that's where I live. I said I come here to get my held mail, and heard, yes this is where your mail is held, this is were the carriers start their routes, but YOUR po is in Avondale. So let me get this straight, Goodyear holds your mail, pick it up there, if you need a new key, go to Goodyear, but if you have a package, go to "YOUR" post office in Avondale. Confusing? YES! Had the carrier simply circled a post office (2 ARE listed there) I would have gone to Avondale, but no, this is just a minor detail that can't be attended to - I had to guess, and well, I guessed wrong. I then ask for directions to the Avondale po and get a loud and belittling, "YOU don't how to get to YOUR post office?!" Ummmm, no I always come here, I didn't know I had 2 different post offices for 3 different situations, even though you call one "MY" post office. Long story short, if you are an Avondale resident and your carrier doesn't bother to circle a location, just know you need to go to "OUR" post office in Avondale for packages, and the Goodyear location for held mail or new keys. Make sense to you? I know! Me neither, just hope you have a decent carrier to circle a location. read more
