This post office is severely understaffed. There's one guy who I've never NOT seen working: good for the paycheck but I can't believe his work life balance is good:( This location is always BOILING HOT or 5°! They must have boiler heat because in the dead of winter, they have the windows wide open (and it's still 1000°). Nothing here is updated or seems like anyone even cares. The TV on the wall is always set to a page where there's a login required. Such a beautiful building for such an icky experience inside. Everyone is friendly, but bare minimum friendly. read more

I'm getting married so I have been there many times in the last few month, and every single time I am in here I have a terrible experience. Bad enough that I feel the need to write this review. The workers are rude and very unwilling to help. Most of the time I can't even understand what they are saying. I have never once seen someone in there smile and they clearly seem to hate their jobs. We are a business in this town and This Post Office is a total JOKE! Try calling them...they won't answer. They haven't delivered our mail in almost a week. Today when they do, the carrier refuses to take my outgoing parcels with him, despite my regular formal request for that on-line. Forget the commercials that say they'll pick up, this town won't. The carrier had an empty truck but when he called his supervisor he was told NOT to take them! Unbelievable! And the carrier chooses NOT to do the right thing, HIS JOB, regardless. This review has to do with their PASSPORT services only. My wife and I recently needed to get passports for a work trip. We had tried to do this a couple different USPS locations but had no luck getting our basic questions answered. The staff here was great about it. This post office is terrible - wish I could choose a minus/negative star. We are a small business in town and had not received our mail for 3 days. When I physically went into the post office on the 3rd day, I was told that there were no sorters or mail carriers...thus no deliveries. When I called on the 4th day, they assured me we would get mail delivery that day. We did get a delivery, 9 pieces of mail. We get 9 pieces of junk mail on a slow day so I know the balance of my mail is sitting at the post office waiting to be sorted. Assuming they pulled a handful for delivery so that I would not make a return visit or attempt a call (which goes unanswered). The postmaster needs to be fired/replaced asap. read more

Waited for a package delivery for 3 days past due, first I talked to "Denima" on 9/11/18 who stated "I have the package in my hand, it will be delivered today" well, waited til 8pm, no package. Called the next day, talked to "Sharlene", updated her on the previous day and what the previous employee told me, stated" let me look around for it" and was put on hold. She came on the phone stating" it was attempted to be delivered, but no one was available for signature and a form was left on our door with a re delivery notice ". I corrected her and stated no one ever came to the door to ring the bell and the above stated form was not there. I also informed her that for the past 3 days, there is always an adult to sign for the package so the person who reported that was not being honest in my opinion. She did apologize though it's personally not her fault and stated it will look be in 9/13 mail. So I'll see what tomorrow brings. Our mail in N. Elmhurst seems to wind up in our neighbors mailboxes and their mail in ours. We have to swap the correctly addressed mail with neighbors at least 3 times a week. I wish we had a different post office that delivers our mail and packages in this part of town read more

I had a package come in from Japan that was lost by the postal service. They attempted deliver to my apartment on 9/13/18 while I was at work. I found the attempted delivery note and contacted them on 9/14/18. They told me they would contact the carrier once they located the package. I go to the post office on 9/15/18 and nobody could locate the package. I made several attempts after that to locate it and nobody could find it. The service at the Elmhurst post office is consistently poor. The clerks almost always seem to be crabby and unpleasant and the lines are long no matter what the season is. Most times I visit there is only one or two people at the service counter and today I found the self-serve package drop box locked. Why?! I know that budget cuts have reduced staffing, and this sometimes means wait times. However, in the 20 years I've been using this post office I have always been treated kindly and with great professionalism - the staff look to make sure each package and envelope are correctly sealed and addressed, and are happy to answer questions. The post master cares about his staff and the community, and the mail carriers work so hard, despite slippery sidewalks, heavy traffic, and any other obstacles. Love my post office. read more

At various times during my 20 years in Elmhurst they have lost my mail, returned my mail incorrectly, had vindictive carriers, had totally rude postmasters, and, a few years ago, lost three months of my mail while I was working out of town. I did discover a single employee, a delivery supervisor named Joel, who seems to know how to get things done. The last two years I go directly to him for everything. This is a terrible and incompetent post office. I frequently have other peoples' mail delivered to my house, but don't receive my own. Then when I put the incorrect mail back in the box so the carrier can pick it up and deliver it correctly, it's left in my mailbox again. This has been going on for years, you have a significant number of people annoyed and concerned that they might be missing important mail,and no one seems to care enough to remedy the problem. This place is very disfunctional. The workers are unorganized and disinterested. There is no courtesy or humane element to their disposition. They speak to you as if you were an object rather than a person. Choose a different worker to help you and it gets no better. I'm sorry I forgot to put my return information on the letter but to treat me as if I was a criminal seems a little much. The government should read these reviews and attempt to reach out to the reviewers for specifics. A true overhaul of the sad and deteriorating place is overdue. read more

The line in this place is almost always chaotically long. It seems like they never have more than two people working, and the high volume of people means you will be waiting. That is exactly why I chose to use the electronic machine in the lobby. I rarely have to wait for it, and you don't have to deal with any crabby postal workers. The parking is usually fine, but if you go during a busy time you might have to park around the corner. read more
