She's in the back working or cleaning up the lobby... She's always busy... And the blonde lady with the tattoo on her arm of an anchor... She's always busy. She's a POSTOFFICE machine. I'm almost always a bit discombobulated when I walk into this post office to ship an item I've sold on ebay. I'm new to the process and find it a bit stressful, but the employees here are always kind, patient, & helpful. They also keep the line moving faster than I've ever seen at any of my previous local post offices! Today was probably the most stressed I've been and I regret that I was a bit crabby with the original clerk, even as I apologized and admitted it was not her fault. My shipping cost estimates (by weight and dimensions, according to ebay) were WAY off and I was a bit overwhelmed realizing I might lose money on 3 items. Thankfully, VALERIE swooped in like a sweet, calming angel from heaven and patiently helped me through the process of finding the cheapest shipping options and packaging available. I was obviously grateful for the money saved, but Valerie's kindness and ability to calm me down when I felt so foolish, stressed out, and upset was far more valuable. Thank you so much, Valerie! A reliable, conveniently located post office location with plenty of parking. It's hard to review a post office, largely because there is only one postal service. You're really reviewing a specific location and those therein. This one is located in a convenient spot, near Roosevelt road while still being far off enough to not be a traffic horror to get into/out of. The staff was nice, though there was only one person working the counter. They were helpful but chatty. I like chatty staff sometimes, but when there's a line you need to be friendly but frank. I know postal workers are short on staff from what I've read but my biggest complaint is not getting our mail when expected. Our mail comes at extremely weird hours if and when we even get it delivered. I have had bills and letters delivered soaking wet, badly damaged and days before or after a response was due to a bill or letter. What is the problem here. An example is a bank mailed disbursement checks from Chicago to me and three sisters all on the same day. My sister in Florida received hers and both my other sisters received theirs within a week. I have been waiting 2 weeks here in Lombard and haven't received it yet. read more

I definitely prefer this post office over the other ones in the area. They are in a good location right off of Roosevelt Road, they have a nice big parking lot, and the facility is of decent size. It doesn't seem like it is ever quite as busy as the smaller Elmhurst office. I go in to the counter rarely; I mainly use the automated station in the lobby. That really is the way to go if you're just mailing a package or purchasing stamps. read more

I don't know what the local bylaws are regarding street vendor licensing in Villa Park. But I bet someone could make a fair profit setting up a kiosk selling pens and Sharpies on the sidewalk outside this post office. I give two stars based solely on the fact that the after-hours parcel drop was unlocked and functional, which is usually not the case. I went in to send a small parcel at 8 am on a Sunday. I was delighted to find the lobby doors open, the drop unlocked, and a moderate amount of supplies on hand. It seemed like I'd hit the 24-Hour Villa Park Self-Help Lobby jackpot, as this location is usually not so customer-friendly. But then no pens. Lesson learned, I guess. I should know to bring my own. At this location, there's really no reason to assume what you need will be there. So the nearby Walgreens got an unexpected $3 from me today. Lack of a pen wouldn't be a Yelp-rant-worthy offense in and of itself. But it's just another in a seemingly endless string of really poor customer-service showings from this location. Such a shame. But I prefer to end a review this negative with something positive. So, it's all about opportunity. Like the opportunity of a Charlie Brown-style kiosk selling postal and office supplies. Even some pencils in a mug. That would be a more professional and organized operation than this location. read more

Why do people complain so much about the postal service? This USPS location is one of the best I've ever dealt with, personally and professionally. I think the most I've ever had to wait in line is max five minutes. They have a kiosk for stamps so if I ever need a booklet I just get it from there. I also rented a PO Box and I was very satisfied with the service and the renewal process. Plus it was under $25 for 6 months...not bad at all, specially if you're moving. All post offices will forward mail free for a year and I definitely opted for that option while I was moving. This post office is my favorite to go to. The people are as friendly as anyone could be. Please keep in mind that they have to deal with human beings all day, not always patient or smart ones either. Anyways, yes, great location, great PO box service and their drive thru drop boxes are always a plus! read more

Eh I need a better experience to give this place a 4-star, but at least I'm giving it some credit by saying that it probably is, just not this day. Maybe after Christmas. So I'm new to the area and haven't needed to go to the local post office. I ordered a package and have been waiting for it for a few weeks. I checked the status online and it said FedEx attempted to deliver my package ONCE and then took it to the post office. They didn't leave a notice on my door. Gee thanks. Off to the post office I went, hoping it was at this location. It was dark and I didn't know where I was going. I saw the big and bright post office and turned into the driveway and then turned right. Nope. That's just for drop off at a regular mail box, which is convenient for after hours, or if you can't find a mail box and need one. Here you go. Anyway, I had to throw it in reverse and go up the other road which leads to the parking lot and the entrance. There's plenty of parking, so that wasn't an issue. There were also plenty of people. Luckily, this office is open until 7pm during the week, which is good for people just getting off work, except that everyone is there at that time. There was a very long line. After about 5 minutes, an employee said that if anyone is picking up a package, to come to the side window. Me and this other woman went straight for it and she almost knocked me out of the way. Rude. I gave the employee my name and showed my ID and picked up my package. Easy breezy. It had been a long day and I just wanted to go straight home, even though I still needed stamps. However, I didn't want to get back into that very long line just for stamps so I said, whatever, I'll just do it another day. On my way out, I saw a self-service machine that says you can buy your stamps right there. Perfect! I just needed two books to send out some Christmas cards. After waiting behind two people, it was my turn. I used the touchscreen kiosk and ordered two books of Forever stamps. They give you other options for stamps, but I figured Forever stamps are the ones everyone usually gets, so these are the right ones. It asked what design I would like on the stamps. Ooo fun! I chose the flag, though, because today, I didn't really care. It printed my stamps and they were horrifically ugly. They are NOT the stamps you buy at Jewel, Walgreens, etc. They were the printed out kind that they plop on your package when you send one, with the scan code on the side and the zip code. The flag design was just black and stamped on top of a cartoon mailbox. My boyfriend saw them and said they were really ugly and wanted to buy some regular stamps to put on our cards. You know they're bad if a guy is too embarrassed to send cards out with those on. Too bad I can't exchange them. I wish they would give you a preview of what you're getting, especially if it's going to be so different from regular stamps. Sigh. read more

I felt the need to update my review based upon a recent experience that I had here. A few weeks ago, we found ourselves in the need for passports. Since I go to this post office just about every weekend for my mailing needs, I had of course seen the big sign that they do passports 9-3 so thought "Perhaps I'll go there for my passport." Big mistake. We headed in around 1pm on a Friday. The sign at the door says "Ring Bell for Passports." We rang bell. We stood there and waited. We waited longer. And even longer. I noticed the door was not locked and my silly, foolish brain said "Maybe you're only supposed to ring the bell if it is after hours? Might as well give it a try." I cracked open the door and stuck my head in. A woman was sitting at a desk processing passports, with a nice little waiting area back there. She glared at me and said "Can you SHUT my DOOR?!" I shut the door because I value my life. However, that was not enough. She came up and re-opened the door, glaring at us while looking for the lock. As she began to lock the door on us, my husband said "Excuse me miss, could you tell us..." to which point she said "I'll be with you later" and slammed the door on our faces. I mean, pretty literally on our faces, since we were standing only a few inches from the door, waiting patiently like good little passport applicants. We very forlornly sat down at a bench outside the office. We waited again. And longer. About 20 more minutes passed, and I stewed. Then I thought, wait a second...do I really want this woman in charge of my sensitive documents? Do I even feel confident that she will complete the form correctly, let alone mail it out properly? That is a big nope on all accounts. So, we left. We wasted some of our wonderful and magical day off on this experience. We ended up driving an hour away to go to a different post office that we had heard good things about, and had a much better experience. Villa Park, you really need to give some customer service training to your passport clerk or put someone else on this role. I understand not liking your job, but if you are in a customer service role it is absolutely unacceptable to slam the door in people's faces. If this business had been anything besides the post office, who there is no one to go to to get a complaint remedied (besides Yelp), I would have taken this experience up to the manager and even corporate if I had to. I have quite literally never received such downright hostile service in my entire life, and I spent a good portion of my years working in retail/customer service roles. read more

Was billed $32 for PO box rental DUE 1/31/18. Went to pay 1/26/18 only to find the rate had gone up to $35. Nowhere on my original bill did it say if the bill wasn't paid by 1/21/18 it would increase to $35. I was forced to pay the additional $3, even though I had a bill in my hand showing $32 was due by 1/31/18. Increases should be for new customers or future rentals... how could this bill have gone up while sitting on my desk waiting for the printed due date. There is always a long line when I go mail a package since there are only two workers. But the workers work efficiently and they're both very friendly. The parking lot is spacious and they also do passport renewal/applications here! They're open on weekend since there are PO boxes so you can use the machine to buy stamps/mail stuff on their off hours. read more

Is it weird to write a review about a Post Office?? But only because I've lived in many different villages over the years and I have to say, this is the BEST ONE!!!! Most of the time you feel like you are at the DMV, or you did something wrong, you feel Am I being punished??? But this location is so warm and inviting, the workers greet you every time with a smile!!!!! The parking is great, there is a ton of parking. But it's just the customer service at this location, I sell things On Etsy.com and I have to go to the post office at least twice sometimes three times a week. I am on the delivery route in the north area. I have called a couple times and even asked the mail carrier in person to please make certain that the mail box is closed after depositing the mail in my box. My mail box is certified by the post office and was commercially purchased. Virtually every day when I get home, the door of the mailbox (located at the street) is either partially or completely wide open. When i personally spoke to one of the letter carriers one time, he said "See, it's closed. Now it's open, Now it's closed." If I happen to be in the front on a Saturday, he does close the door. Otherwise, no. I did call the post office a couple of times about this, but, they only said they will speak with the carrier. I think he goes out of his way to make certain that the door is wide open on rainy days like today. The mail gets soaked. Is the person so weak that he cannot push the door completely closed? He does not appear to be a 97 pound weakling. Far from it. Am I the only one with this trouble? Did I do something to him? I did contact the office I think it was a couple years ago now. But, that was about the door not getting closed quite a few times after quite a period of time. read more

I need to mail things several times a week, so we are "regulars" at this post office. The ladies never fail to ask about my family, and always give us great service with a smile. They are so friendly and they know their post office stuff! They are helpful in alerting me about any upcoming changes. I love the fact that this PO has extended hours, quite handy for the working people! Sometimes the lines can be long, but the gals try to keep things moving as quickly as possible. If a negative star could be given to this post office, it would receive a -5 star rating. Today, June 20, 2014, I went to this post office to process my first passport. I already had my passport papers filled out and photos taken for all three members of my family and all were present. I waited in line for more than ten minutes. When I asked by the customer service representative what I was there for, she immediately told me that I was too late. This was at 3:30. The time this location stops processing passports. A Ms. Patricia, proceeded from behind the counter to escort me out of the main service line to direct me to a separate location with a sign, bench and a bell for passport services. It was at this time that she began to smacked her hands repeatedly over the passport service sign, as if I could not read, and tells me I would have to come back tomorrow. When questioned why she was refusing me service, she slams the passport door in my face. To add injury to insult, they admitted the customer sitting on the bench in line after me to process her passport papers. I went back into the main line and requested to see a manager. After an eight minute wait, Mr. Pete Melone appears, I explain the situation to him and he proclaims he has not way of proving what time I was in line. My husband interjected with they could in fact verify the time with the many cameras that monitors the facility. I described all the services the two customer service representatives offered to three customers before me, including passport conversions, the mailing of six packages, and mail being delivered overseas. I clarified with him ,"So let me make sure I have this clear, are you refusing me services today?" Yes. I will have to see if someone will take you, we stop at 3:30. Mr. Pete Melone was very passive and unwilling to offer his services and apologizes for bad, cruel, and discriminatory services on behalf of his workers. I sold an $80 package on ebay and spent another $10.50 on priority 2 day mail. Conveniently dropped it off in the lobby drop box at 6am so I wouldn't have to wait in line for 20 minutes. The package disappeared. I filed a complaint online, got a call 3 days later from a lady who called herself Patricia. She basically called me a liar, telling me there is no way my package could have disappeared since it goes into a wire cage and is picked up by the post office employee who immediately scans the packages. I have no reason to lie about a missing package, just wanted to know what happened to it. She told me I should have dropped it off with a clerk. I am a professional who works 7-5 everyday. She literally said the words, "what do you want me to do?" I have never experienced a less caring or understanding customer service representative than this woman. Do Not trust the "convenient" lobby drop boxes. I will be using a different post office now that I am out nearly $100. read more
