The postal center is clean, yet my packages were supposed to get delivered to my door. I am disabled and had to haul 5 boxes in a wheelchair . I have more items to pick up again, because they did not have an access code the day of delivery. This is so unfortunate. Never bothers to deliver packages at my complex especially when we have receptacles that can hold some stuff. Ive even had the fortune of having one left one in ONCE. It's very frustrating having to waste gas, and have to come here and deal with potientally rude workers (pro-tip: if you hate your job THAT MUCH, quit ) highly recommend using literally any other postal service if you have the option, as Im aware theres sometimes less of a choice. THEN rescanned the package as inaccessible, then AGAIN as no secure location... now he's claiming that he delivered the package. BUT he then put a "redelivery receipt" in my mailbox THREE DAYS LATER. I CALLED THE POST OFFICE AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T HELP ME!!!! They asked me to hold for a minute and I was ON HOLD for OVER TWO HOURS. We have mailed a priority envelope TWICE to a Denton address and it doesnt even go out for delivery and is mailed back. It would be much faster for me to drive 2 hours and hand deliver. This location, on the corner of Mckinney and Elm, is quite large with a ton of PO boxes, but the service counter, off in its own room, is too small for the volume of customers. The staff is friendly enough. Over the years I can recall only one rude interaction. It was years ago, when the price of stamps went up and I came to get some 2 cent stamps (remember those???) just to wait in line for 51 minutes and then be rushed along by an employee with an attitude. That was about the time I decided I didn't need to come to the post office unless it was necessary. To be fair, they do their part to assist in that and keep the volume down. There are multiple mail boxes on both Elm and Locust, they have a self serve kiosk inside, the tax forms and guides are in the main walkway come January and you can get Forever stamps online, at the grocery store or at some ATM's. I think the multiple boxes on each side is what I utilize the most and is probably the smartest choice in keeping people out of that parking lot, which fills up quickly. That, and since they only lock up the service counter area, you can come and go as you please during off peak times and avoid a full parking lot. However, there are times when I need to ship a package or collect mail that I had on hold, when I return early from a trip. During those times this place does the trick. My most recent trip inside was when I had to ship a package to a friend in the Peace Corp. FedEx didn't ship to that particular corner of Ethiopia so I had to slow boat it. It''s definitely not cheap to use the Post Office for larger boxes, even their flat rate ones, I prefer to stick with envelopes and bubble mailers when I use them. However, they do send everywhere and were helpful with the paperwork. Mostly I avoid coming in because the lines are long. If you need to come in for something special then be prepared to spend 30-40 minutes here. If you only see one person at the counter, it will take much longer, but there are usually two people working and sometimes three. I am giving them three stars because I've only seen a different rate of service, speed and friendliness at tiny Post Office's in small towns. For the size of Denton, I'm pretty sure this is average and expected, perhaps a little higher than expected. Lord knows I've definitely received worse service in other towns, so I'll take 'only helpful when necessary' and 'occasionally indifferent' over 'trapping you into a circle of hell' any day. read more

This is a fairly large USPS location for this area. I really like their opening hours and the fact that they are open until 6 PM on weekdays. I don't recall seeing a USPS office that had as many PO boxes. I came to drop off shipments and they were just about to pick up all shipments. They asked if anyone had shipments that needed to go out and they let me skip line and they found someone to scan them so I could get a receipt. The man providing said services went on to criticize my appearance whilst taking my photo. It was incredibly embarrassing and degrading. I will never be coming back to this location. USPS is my go to for mailing anything. It always arrives on time (Denton-Anaheim) and I have always received all my packages without any problems. I love this location because it is open Mon-Sat and I always seem to need to mail things on Saturday. I have been coming here for 2 years since I moved to Denton and I love it. Normally we use UPS, but thought we'd try USPS this year. Bad call. I delivered several packages to the counter (click n ship labelled) at 3 p.m. and the PO staff didn't process them until the *next* day. Processed them over 12 hours later, so my 3 day shipping became 4 days, plus the normal "we're busy" crap the USPS is spouting. I think they'd have gone out on time if we hadn't click n shipped...I think they used that as an excuse not to check them in and get them out. This place is good for your basic office needs. It's quite large, has anything you may need to purchase, PO boxes, plenty of parking. I have been coming here for the many years that I've lived in Denton. It's also conveniently located downtown and easy to stop at when you're already out and about. I don't particularly enjoy coming here because I always feel like a huge bother to the employees there. When I ask for help it seems I am irritating them, and that I should already know the answers to what I'm asking. Last time I felt like the biggest bother to them, so I asked questions and told the employee I was to be able to understand next time I came in. I'm pretty sure the employees dislike being there. Although I did actually get a phone call back from this location in Denton after filing a help ticket with the USPS help line about not receiving mail (definitely try this first because you're bypassing the McKinney Branch: 1.800.275.8777), the help was generally incompetent as they were not aware of USPS services offered on their website that I had signed up for. I had tried previously to call the McKinney location directly, but like so many others, could not get through to anyone or was put on hold and left to twiddle my thumbs waiting for someone to answer. Perhaps a dedicated staff member just to handle the phone line would be a start? When I was transferred to a manager or someone with knowledge involving my issue, I was spoken to quite rudely and basically belittled when stating the facts of my issue (there was very little listening to try and assess what my issue actually was before quickly offering up irrelevant answers). Not only that, but the manager/staff member said the only person that could help me was on vacation and was ready to hang up on me until I asked if he would pass along my problem and information to said person as you would expect from anyone at a business trying to be helpful to the customer. He then says something to the effect of, "Would you want to be bothered on vacation"! Just an incredible ignorance of any type of bare bones basic customer service from this person at the McKinney USPS location! It is shocking that this type of behavior is tolerated. There are plenty out there that would be willing to take his job while offering friendly and helpful treatment of customers I would suspect. I will be flabbergasted if I actually get a call back from this mystery person (the name was not given of course) and if my mail issue is ever resolved. Unfortunately, this is what the public has come to expect from the USPS (an incompetent wall of bureaucracy that cannot be penetrated except by luck or a miracle) as many working there, though not all to be fair, have earned this foul reputation. read more

I have never had a problem at this post office after living in Denton for over two years. Like any post office I have ever visited, there can be a long line at times, which is slow moving on occasion. However, the length of the lines here, as well as the speed of service, is far better than the post office I previously frequented in Azusa, CA. Plus, I have never had a problem with finding a parking spot, whereas this has happened to me at some other post offices in the past (especially the one in Azusa). The staff also have been polite and helpful in all of my interactions with them. I am sure that this is not the best post office in the United States, but it's definitely not as bad as many seem to want to make it out to be. read more
