This post office is ridiculous and just plan...asinine. Way to long for waits....postal employees should be a little more pleasant even it I can't stand it when there is 10 people waiting with one person working the counter

So the post office can only deliver 2 of the 3 packages? We'll see if the other two actually make it.

Seems like a waste to review the post office. So I'll just tell you my story…read more I will say that the postal folks at Eagle River are fantastic. Many things are outside their control and they are most definitely understaffed. That being said they do work hard. To a degree they are still an entity of the United States government, nothing says "I require patience" more than the federal government. Right? I reiterate. The workers, from clerks to my carriers, are all wonderful people thrust into a challenging situation. MY STORY: If you've been to the ER P.O. in December this past year, you probably waited 2 hours plus. I know I did. 1 hour and 45 minutes in line. TWENTY MINUTES to find my package. It was much needed medical supplies and I was traveling the next day. Come to find out my box was on one of a hundred pallets for 9 days. No wonder they struggled to find it. We flew to Nevada and boxed up 23 large containers and a bowling ball to be sent back to Eagle River. We mailed six per day at the retail ground rate which is the cheapest cost available. You can also expect delivery in two weeks (they warn you it could take upwards of 30 days). Perfect! We have to fly back home and prepare space for our junkola! Fast forward to landing at Ted Stevens Tuesday night. As we pull up in our driveway we see six of the boxes have beat us home. Wait.......what? That's only 4 days! The next morning, six more parcels, as well as the next day. The first 19 packages all took 4 days from Reno. The last 4? It's been almost three weeks and they can't find the bowling ball. It hasn't checked in anywhere and we can't do anything about it for another week. Luckily, the important material all made it here, making this a most hilarious adventure. Oy vey, if packages could talk! I hope you enjoyed my usps saga as much as I did sharing it. 01/23

A five star review for a Post Office?!! What?!! Yeah, this was definitely a five star moment for…read moreme. I was in need of a new passport and pleased to see online that the ER location offered appointments, albeit a couple weeks out. No biggie, I have time. I made my appointment online for mid week, a.m. and definitely made the right choice! Three people at the counter helping others and once it was my turn, I was asked to step over to one gal who takes care of them. She was helping another gentleman, being super playful and courteous, as was he. She was equally so with me as well. The process was super fast; I was in and out in about 10 minutes. I mentioned to her that this was not even remotely what I was use to at my Chugiak PO and she said 'sadly, I've heard that many times'. They could really learn something about being friendly at our location. Heck, a simple hello would be appreciated... they're rude and crotchety beyond measure. Anywho... I digress! Excellent customer service across the board in Eagle River and I noticed it with each customer that was helped.

I came in for some boxes today during the day time. Walked in got a few priority flat rate boxes…read moreand walked out. This is the easy part of mailing packages. There was a line but I won't have to worry about that until I make my way back to drop off packages.

I'm not entirely certain this even counts as a post office location, as I've been told different…read morethings by different employees. I've had some tell me it is, and others tell me it's an "affiliate" location, meaning they lack many of the services of actual post office locations. If you want to send something that has already been postmarked and you have absolutely no questions on, it will do. If you need to have them print a shipping label, or answer any questions, I would try a different location. This location is staffed by ACE employees, not postal workers, so they are not able to answer many questions regarding the process of sending things out, even just down to "how many stamps will I need on this?". Went in recently to send out a a package- I do not have a printer at home, so I had a code for them to scan to print the shipping label there, something I have had 0 issues with at other post office locations. When I asked if they could scan it, the employee basically said "I don't know how , so no". If you don't know how, why are you the one working the mail counter? I have also tried to return mail that was addressed to former tenants (which we were instructed by the post office to do, just send it back and only accept our mail) and was told I would need to go to a "real" post office to do so. So then what are you? I would say skip it and just go to an "official" post office location, and save yourself the time and hassle.
