This last year we started noticed some changed in delivery. More and more packages weren't being delivered at all, then packages were being stuffed in our mailbox so crammed we literally had to cut the packages out several times.
One time I fought so hard to get the package out, the mailbox came lose. My neighbor came over to help me fix it and that's when he told me they were having the same issues because of this "the new" mailman.
When leaving a package at your "door" he will place actually just places the boxes on the ground rather than walk up the two steps to our door where the packages will stay dry and out of the rain/snow/weather under the awning, where it would be common sense to place a package. Several others in the neighborhood complain about the same issue and call him "the lazy" mailman.
I've had two packages get completely ruined because of this. This last summer we had lots of rain and I had to learn to track my packages and even leave work early if I had to, if it was raining, which is ridiculous having to go to those lengths to save my packages and lost money taking off work early to do so. I never had to worry about this kind of thing before, and shouldn't have to. Besides the rain/snow it makes packages more likely to get stolen.
I started working from home a while back and would hear loud music and bass stop at our mailbox and in our drive way. Of course it was the mailman BLARE his music so loud, making our German shepherd go nuts. I usually wouldn't mind but we have a newborn that needs her nap time and it's disrupted her naps. Especially when he just sits in the driveway for several minutes and the bass and music is just full blast.
When I look to see what he's doing, he's always been on his phone. The first time I assumed he might have been trying to figure out a route or something work related but then it kept happening and a neighbor mentioned he had sat in her driveway for 5 mins straight and appeared to be playing on his phone.
Especially after an incident about two weeks ago, when he blew through a stop sign at a four-way stop, not paying attention because he was a looking at his phone. I think he glanced to see if anyone was at the four-way and my car being a neutral color, he thought nobody was there and blew on thru phone in hand and eyes off the road focused on his phone.
On the highway he was going 35-45 miles an hour, road conditions were good, and people were flying past us, and he was swerving on and off the shoulder of the road, I am assuming still busy on that phone of his. I tried to call the Chugiak Post Office directly, right after the incident happened but it rings and rings and rings until there is a loud beep and the call ends. The people have been complaining about this for years now and they still haven't fixed the issue.
It's funny to think our hard earned money is stolen from us as tax dollars and being used this kind of service. read more
