We hired Relocators to move my elderly mom from AK to OR state. It was an extremely tricky job for many reasons, and we needed some special assistance that required skill and experience on their part. They are NOT an experienced company. There was no formal quote. The "owners" bickered and argued about who was the owner. They misrepresented their service to us several times and never told us what the final price would be until our stuff was ON THE WAY HERE. They parked a truck in front of the house in AK but didn't get any permits; when they were forced to move the truck they did so WITH NO WORD TO US. The truck just...... drove off one day. We thought we were being robbed! But no. It was The Relocators moving the truck to....... where? we still don't know. When I reached out to Deborah about it she said she was leaving town the next day and "Leo" would take care of us. Who is Leo? We didn't know. It took her 2 days to get Leo's contact info to us, and she was snippy and disrespectful in doing so. I was in a crowded noisy place when we were trying to communicate via phone; I asked her to text me instead and her comment was, "The phone works both ways." I didn't hear from her again until 2 days later. Our agreement was that the contents of the truck would be undisturbed, not opened until arrival in OR state. When the truck arrived in OR, it was in a different truck. We had items go missing, including a proprietary shelf to a stereo cabinet. When I asked Deborah about the shelf, she had no plan, no protocol for this situation. She asked me, "What do you want me to do about it?" As of now we have no use of that cabinet due to the missing shelf. A problem for another time. Finally, the billing. Dan misrepresented this process to us more than once, creating even more stress than it was already. He quoted us a service fee to process a cc payment, then said he would waive it. Then he reapplied it without explanation and when I questioned it he accused me of trying to rip them off! Dan was SO OFFENSIVE that I had to deal with Deborah, who wasn't much better. When the rep for the mover shows up in high heels, toenail polish, hollywood hair and lashes..... she's beautiful but she's a MOVER. It didn't inspire confidence, is all. NOT shaming the lady, just saying it looked unpro. This company probably would do well with small moves, or just one big ticket item. But they just don't have the procedures and operations in order to move a large, difficult job like ours. Their price was reasonable, but the way we were treated, and the fact that some of our stuff never made it here, that I cannot recommend this company. read more

This company was great. They were way more affordable than the others I called to move from Alaska to the lower 48. They were also very good at communicating and getting bids done quickly, wrapping my stuff with great care when I met the truck, and calling me as my stuff was on the way. They helped load/unload on both ends with great efficiency and were kind and supportive and personable all the way through. I highly recommend them. read more

I am writing this review because I want to express my thoughts regarding our recent move with Relocators International, and also because I feel it's important in light of a past review I have read. First of all, for our recent move from Oregon to Alaska, we initially contacted 4 movers, including the mover we used when we moved from Alaska 3 years ago, and asked for price/timing/etc. Of those movers we contacted, Relocators International (Dan Bishop was the person we worked with) was willing to give us a price break for only filling a partial load, as he could fill the remaining space with other materials going north. The other movers were either unwilling to get us a break for a partial load, or just too expensive. Dan also worked to give us multiple options on the moving method, and gave advice on which method would be the best way for the money. Anyway, they were the lowest cost. Before we committed to a contract, Dan suggested that he have a person come by our home and confirm the amount of material we would send north, so that there would be no miss-understanding regarding the space we would require. This person stopped in Bend on his way from California to Washington at no additional cost. After agreeing to a contract, Dan worked to set us up with a driver that he said would take great care of us and make sure that the move went smoothly. From this point on, Dan and the driver (Steve Grillo, who operates as an independent trucking business called S&L Transport, LLC), were in constant communication with us to make sure that everything was ready and in place when we were ready to load. We actually wound up having to move the loading time up by one day at the last minute, and they busted their rears to accommodate our needs and get there. During the load, Steve was probably the hardest worker there, even though we had only paid for the haul - we had not asked, or paid, for loading or unloading help. Besides Steve provided us with as many moving blankets as we needed, directed loading, kept us laughing thoughout the hard work, and basically went far and above what anyone would have expected, even though Dan had told us that this would be the case. After we loaded Steve and he left, he kept track of us as we drove to Alaska, and communicated his progress back to us as we went, so that we all knew when to expect to unload in Alaska. Once again, Steve worked like a dog to help us unload when we arrived in Alaska. Also, we had zero (0) damage from the move, and I attribute that to how conscientious Steve was in loading the truck, and to Dan for providing us with such a conscientious driver in the first place. Relocators International had our best interests in mind from the beginning to the end of the move. I can not say enough about how positive our experience with them was. They gave me the best price, they communicated throughout the move, they took care of our stuff and, probably best of all, they were all just good people to deal with and to be around. This move has truly been one of, if not the, best experiences I personally have ever had with a business. I am happy to recommend Relocators International, and I am happy to recommend S&L Transport, LLC. When looking at options for moving out of Alaska, please make sure you do your research on different companies in the area. Cheaper is not always the best option. From my own experience, I know how expensive it can be. I hired Relocators International to move my household items from AK to Seattle. I had already arrived in Seattle and had a mover work with Relocators to load my stuff to take the journey south. When I first called, I was told I could get a great deal if I could get it ready for shipping that day. I was able to coordinate it and was told it would take 3-4 days to get to me. A week goes by and nothing. No contact, no stuff. I was in no rush to get my stuff, but I began to worry about due to the lack of contact. I finally called them and I felt as if I was inconveniencing them. I was told that it was just picked up as it had missed the last boat, so should be to Seattle by the next weekend. Weekend came and nothing. No stuff and no call. I called again, and again felt as if I was bothering them. I got another promise that it had gotten out on that days boat and would be in by Friday. Friday came and I called to check in again. I was told this time that it would be in by Monday - which thankfully it was. Now, I understand that things happen and stuff gets delayed. I was fine with that, but the lack of communication was difficult. Once my items arrived, I did not have everything that was in my storage. But I did get a bonus box of someone else's items. Woohoo! I called Relocators to let them know of the missing items. At this point I got the run around. They told me that they would check in to it and to hang on to the items that were not mine and they would get back to me in a few days. Didn't happen. After a week, I had to call them (again) and I was told that some of my items had been thrown away (like plants - which I never had) and he was not able to locate anything. He then told me to throw away the items that were not mine, What sucks the most is the few boxes that were missing were irreplaceable, making it a very hard pill to swallow.
