After successfully using the internet to find about a dozen photographers (no hits, all misses) in the Anchorage area, I knew I needed more direction. Finding Lauren Roberts (the brains, talent, and amazingness behind Beauty Board Media) was the answer to my questions. Even while on a work-trip outside of Alaska, Lauren fielded my call and took some time to sit in a quiet place and chat with me about what exactly I was looking to do. I wanted my proposal to my girlfriend to be caught on camera so we could share that special moment with our friends and family all over the world. No big deal. Lauren and I spoke for days before she even started talking about the cost of this cross-country production I was planning. A couple from Texas celebrating the 4th of July in Anchorage with a proposal under the fireworks at a small college summer league baseball game. She was almost as excited about this as I was! The words "swoon" and "romantic" were thrown around excessively. Lauren promises, Lauren delivers. She brought along a second shooter to catch the moment in photos while she masterfully shot our video. At the time of writing this review the video has not yet been completed; we asked Lauren to take extra time and provided her recently with some other home video "gems" to work with. Like I said, her promise of a keepsake production cannot be ignored. It's amazing what Beauty Board Media has done for past clients (check out the website) and what she's done for Priscilla and me. The photos are outrageous. We can't stop looking at them. A few are being printed and framed once we decide which of them we like more than the others. It's a difficult task when each picture is a masterpiece. Our friends and family love the pictures. Our only regret is that Lauren is in Alaska and we're in Texas! We can't thank her enough. Her talent and passion captured our engagement; something no amount of money could recreate or duplicate. And now we have a way to revisit it forever. If you have any questions just message me. I'll always be a fan.

I noticed last week that my Passport had expired in September. Most people can just go to Walgreens…read morefor their passport photo, however I'm a British Citizen with a British Passport, so the requirements were different. Upon Googling for providers in Anchorage, only Castech seemed able to help. And in fact, their website states that they will pretty much "get you sorted no matter what" which isn't quite how they order it, but that's how i took it. Anyway, i went over there today, and it seems a small family business, and i landed in there literally 1 minute before they were closing for lunch, so i offered to return after lunch. The lady was very sweet, and told me to come on back. She took my photo very quickly, and uploaded it, whilst she asked the gentleman what the British passport photo requirement was, and he knew it without having to look it up, which I am very impressed about, because i didn't have a clue. As i needed either a code to input on my online application, or to digitally upload it myself, i asked if it could be emailed to me. No problem at all. The cost was reasonable, we chose the most attractive photo, i was given a business card, in case anything went wrong, i paid and left (apologizing for rudely turning up at lunchtime) I got home, and uploaded my photo to the online application, and it was slightly too large for the UK required size, so I called Castech, and they instantly made it the right size, and emailed a new photo. It came within a couple of minutes of me calling. I am filled with admiration. I mean, this is how a business SHOULD be run. Super fast, knowledgeable service, i felt that I as a customer, had been put first, they wanted to help me, and instantly fixed the size requirement. I am so impressed by this small business, and have no hesitation in recommending their services, for Passport Photos for us foreigners. Bravo.

After being told by Taylored Restoration that the mold we found along a 20 foot stretch of wall was…read morefrom animal urine, we went with Service Master to take care of our problem. We met Mike & Rick at the job site to explore the problem and discuss it's removal. Multiple times during the consultation we discussed the crew removing the drywall, cleaning, and then replacing the drywall. Everyone was in agreement. So when the estimate came in, and the last line simply stated "painting" we assumed they were to paint the wall. Considering this is something easily done, we declined to have them paint. Not a single person stopped us to explain that the painting referred to was a mold killing specialty paint. Basically, the purpose of the removal and to inhibit further growth should a stray spore be left. The crew arrives an hour late (just like the consult) and begins their job. After they are finished and are removing their ionizing equipment I am told that another crew would get in touch about fixing the walls. When I heard nothing for a week, I called to check in, and lo and behold, the estimate was not for the drywall fix at all, but only the mold remediation. A separate estimate then came in for almost $800 to fix less than 20 square feet of drywall. At this point, the mold had been cleared, thus an insurance claim for the amount above our deductible could not be filed. After the crew left, we went to check on the procedure and were completely devastated to find visible mold still left in the area. This was not stained wood, but actual spores which were visible to the naked eye. A supervisor did come out the next day to fix the problem - but aren't they supposed to do it right the first time? After everything is said and done, and we bring in our own drywall person, I receive an overdue notice in the same envelope as the first bill I had seen. The bill was very different from the estimate - not only in price but also appearance. While the estimate was an exploded bullet list of items (3 pairs of gloves, 20 feet of sheeting, etc) which was over 5 pages long, our bill was 6 lines. When I questioned the charge for an ionozing/ozone unit billed in 24 hour increments, I was told the unit had been in our house longer than 24 hours and we were billed as such. I left the crew at my house at 9am on the morning in question, the unit could not have been used for at least 2 hours, and when I saw them at 8 am the nest morning, they were picking it up. Less than 24 hours. The bill also indicated that more than 1 pickup load of material was hauled away from the house. Not possible. With 2 of the 6 lines questioned, I asked for an exploded version of our bill, formatted exactly like the estimate. I received another copy of the estimate. We went back and forth trying to track down an appropriate copy of the bill for OVER 2 MONTHS. This is very suspicious to me. If you overcharge in one area, and then refuse to show the full bill, I am left to the conclusion that you are vastly overcharging and hiding your figures. After 2 months I was finally able to get a copy of the amended, correct bill. In short, I understand it was our responsibility to comb through the estimate. However, it is their job to explain to the customer why an important step is needed, and be sympathetic to the fact that most of their customers are not fluent in the particular vernacular of their specific field. *** The owner comment below references our cost to remove the mold the first time around, not the estimated drywall cost which I mentioned.

In the middle of the night, our drains had backed up and flooded our downstairs. UGH! After calling a plumber and drain service to clear out the line, the water receded. Needless to say, it left a horrible mess. Black water/sewage water--all flooring, some sheet rock, furniture, and so forth had to be replaced. It was disgusting! ServiceMaster of Anchorage came to our aid immediately. Their team was GREAT! I had complete confidence in them--they put me at ease and handled everything quickly and efficiently. My home has never looked better! They went above and beyond in making sure that things were done to my satisfaction. They dealt with insurance--their quote was right in line with what insurance would cover. Every single person I met with and dealt with put me at ease and was very helpful. It could've been a completely stressful experience--but it wasn't. I highly recommend this company! They will take care of you and your home.
