Anchorage residents are fortunate to live so close to a U S Post Office that is open 24 hours a day. If you are trying to get a birthday present to a dear friend or relative and didn't realize the event was so close , or if you waited until the very last minute to file your taxes you have the luxury of being able to drive to the post office by the airport and walk in and have someone there to hand stamp it or help you figure out the most affordable way to send it . The lines can be long at times especially on April 15 th . That's the procrastinators fault and we all are lucky we have a post office that's close that will help us make that deadline . The staff is always competent and patient . They are almost always friendly and sometimes even funny . I want to give a shout out to our airport post office and everyone who works there . read more

I live on Kodiak Island and this sorting facility has not been forwarding packages to Kodiak for weeks! I am still waiting for a package that landed there on September 30th, laid around there for nearly two weeks then wound up back in Seattle for a week. Now it has been back in Anchorage for nearly a week. I have 4 packages that are being held hostage by the Anchorage Sorting facility now. First package to be delivered to my house was my medication. It was marked as undeliverable, and USPS computer blandly stated it was delivered somewhere. I called the office number many times. No one answers the phone, and get this, the post office phone has a full inbox and won't take messages. Not a good sign. We spent 30 dollars 4 days ago to overnight them to my new apartment, it's Friday evening and has been most of a week without my medication. I will soon need to get checked into the hospital, so I hope USPS is ready for that bill. read more

This is my favorite post office in town. Although the parking lot is set up RETARDED and none of the spots link up to a sidewalk (so you can crack your tailbone trying to carry packages into the joint), I still prefer this post office over all others in town. The main reason I prefer this location is , it is generally better staffed than any post office in town. I imagine this is because it is the main mail distribution center for Anchorage. At Christmas, they even have someone posted in the lobby to help people make the right box choices and help use the self-serve postage machine. I think that's pretty awesome. Also, anyone living in Alaska knows that shipping packages from here takes forever. Since this location is it the airport, it seems liek packages shipped from this location get to their destination sooner. Sweet! read more

My experience was terrible. They were rude, and didn't seem to know what they was doing. she accepted my id because it was a driver license, but I wouldn't accept my boyfriend's ID because it was a regular state ID instead of a driver license saying he didn't have proper ID. All we wanted to do was an address change, anybody with common sense would know as long as the id is a state id from the dmv it is a "proper" form of identification. She was rude, and condescending whenever I had a question, and I was not happy when I left to say the least. read more

Front staff is rude. I came in trying to find help with my passport. No where online or on any signs inside does it say they don't open until 11. Then I also find out it's by appointment only which is also not online. So now I have to take extra steps and pay extra money for my passport to get everything done. read more

This Post Office is a godsend because it is open until 11 PM each day so it definitely comes in handy when one absolutely must get something mailed after the other Post Offices are closed. I sometimes have a late night shipment to mail & am always pleased with the service at this office on those trips. The staff here is always pleasant & knowledgeable & works efficiently, at least that has been my experience. The last time I came in to mail 3 large parcels, but couldn't get the heaviest one on the counter--it was slightly over 59 pounds. I'm older and just couldn't manage it. The clerk came around to my side & lifted it up for me, and did so as if it were no big deal. He was phenomenal & I cannot express how much I appreciated that. I'm sure he wasn't required to do so, so it really meant a lot to me. read more

This post office has the best customer service, seems to always be well staffed no matter what and I like the way it is set up. All of the mail eventually comes to this location so if you make the drive here, your mail seems to get out quicker. I love the self-service postage machine, I love when there is a long line, workers still communicate with the customers to make things easier or to save them time while waiting in line to get their packages out. I've moved clear across town and I still make the trip across town and check out the scenery along the way. It's a beautiful drive and I think it's worth it especially when the people that help you there bring a smile to your face. I work with people all the time so believe me when I say a smile goes a long way. This town is full of smiling, caring people and these are one of the businesses whos employees seem to exude that. read more

The gentleman who processes passports is rude, condescending and will lie to you about the fees he will asses you for your passport. Check his work very carefully he will tell you, your passports are expedited and then only send it routine although you paid for expedited Then you will have to pay a double expedited fee for your passport. Don't expect help if you call them either, in my book they are teetering on misconduct as well as fraud, waste and abuse at this location. read more

Eva at the Passport Office in the airport post office is amazing! She goes above and beyond to help others with the process, and does it with a smile and a great personality. We highly recommend using the online appointment process and downloading and completing all the paperwork ahead of time...using black ink only! We were renewing our passports and were in and out in about 15 minutes. read more
