While I was there, a young gentleman came in and simply asked about a machine that wasn't working. Instead of politely assisting him, the younger clerk with her horrible attitude shooed him away like he was a dog. When it was my turn, I approached the counter and explained that I needed to mail a couple of certified letters. Rather than greeting me or asking how she could assist, the younger clerk shoved the letters back toward me in a way that felt unnecessarily disrespectful and dismissive telling me I needed to go fill out the certified slips. The entire atmosphere in this location is ALWAYS negative and uncomfortable. No smiles, no greetings, no basic courtesy, just horrible attitudes. I genuinely try to avoid coming here because almost every time I visit, I witness customers being spoken to disrespectfully. People should not walk into a business or public service location and feel like they are bothering the employees simply by asking for assistance. Management seriously needs to address the customer service and professionalism at this location. Based on my repeated experiences here, something needs to change.

Those people were to be in a different line but there are no signs that say that and the "passport office" that is off to the side is no longer used. The 1 employee has to help those in line AND watch for people walking in the door so they don't get in the PO line but need to go to the passport line. Argh!!! He literally looked like he wanted to send me to the back of the line ha. This individual should be fired for how he treats customers. Unreal. And just to note, I've been using USPS a lot lately, and it appears to me that literally 9 out of 10 USPS employees hate their job and are always very rude to customers. At most there have been maybe 5 or 6 patrons in line ahead of me and the clerks have been good about moving the lines along. The number of clerks available have varied from two to four. Most of them were polite or pragmatic personality types. My recent transaction was a purchase of Forever stamps and the SpongeBob ones caught my eye. I also shipped a package out of state which was already confirmed received by the recipient just a few days from the date/time shipped. Overall this US Post Office is A-OK.

I've been to multiple USPS stores and finally Alvin, here at the Wilmington location kept it real, honest and helped me far more than I could have asked for. I know my package will get there, I will get paid and it was all because Alvin looked up the tracking number and did some digging. He didn't just look at the screen on my phone and tell me what could happen, instead he did something about it to show me what has happened. I understand lines get long sometimes and it feels overwhelming, but taking those extra moments to help a person out really makes a difference. Very polite, and professional. Best of all he's FAST and very knowledgeable. Fast as in keeping the line going, but not so quick that he's not friendly nor dismissive to any questions or concerns. He knows what he's doing. He was working alone this day and even had a long line out the door but managed to help everyone in a timely manner. Their business hours is a bit different than most places, but I like how convenient it is for me on a Saturday for my small business, as most places close earlier. Highly recommend Mr. Jay.
