I rarely write negative reviews, but this situation requires it. Like many others have noted, the customer service here is deeply problematic. The counter manager, an elderly black woman, was incredibly rude and dismissive, lashing out at customers with a level of misery that reflects just how deeply she dislikes her job. It is truly impressive how someone with such nonexistent customer service skills achieved a managerial position. On a positive note, I felt genuinely sorry for the young man working alongside her. On Friday, July 7, 2026, I had a very unpleasant experience at this post office. While I was writing the "who" and "from" information on the bubble letter wrap for my package, the elderly African American lady with dreadlocks and glasses rudely and condescendingly told me to step out. I was simply trying to properly address my package, and there was no reason for her to speak to me in that manner. When I returned, she told another customer she had assisted that I was looking at her. I found that extremely unprofessional and unnecessary. She never apologized or acknowledged how disrespectfully she had spoken to me. After my transaction, there is normally an opportunity for customers to provide feedback about their experience, but she skipped that part, so I wasn't given the opportunity to share my feedback at the time. I'm leaving this review now because I don't believe an uncomfortable interaction should simply be brushed under the rug as if it never happened. Avoiding the feedback process does not change the way I was treated. Based on the other reviews it appears like I am not the only who has experience this with that particular employee. The Clerk looked like she didn't want to be there, she wasn't too friendly, and she had a bonnet on (in her defense it was raining). I got the SpongeBob stamps because WHY NOT!!?? Ms.Keyes who is also the Manager was very passive aggressive and miserable. She was mean to me for no reason from start to finish. Not sure how she works in customer service. She was eye rolling at me the whole time. She was definitely racist to me, because she treated the customers after me different. I only asked her some legit customer questions and received no answers besides eye rolling and being told to look at it myself. I used the wrong envelope and she threw it on the table as I walked away to fill out the correct one, Express Priority. I asked if this is the smallest size since the red one has smaller. She said I can look myself. I asked her nicely nicely again, she said I can look back there and see and read what it says on the envelope. She would not answer and looked at me like it's such a stupid question each time. I was the only person there and she was not busy. I started crying because she was super mean, and I have never cried from a customer service interaction before. As people started walking in, I felt so embarrassed with tears in my eyes. The African American lady working behind the desk must have something going on outside of work that makes her be so rude and ugly towards everybody. This was only my 2nd time going to a post office in general, I came to get passport applications and try to return an item with a QR code that said I could take to a post office (that I later realized it's only accepted at certain ones, not this one) and every person before me that was in line was greeted with an irritated "what can I do for you today?" as well as rude remarks like "you done messed up the bar code I can't even scan it so you're gonna have to do something about this another day". When it came to my turn she didn't even ask what I was here for so i tried to start explaining I was here to see if I could return something and showed my QR code and she immediately cut me off and started humiliating me saying "woah now hold on that's not a QR code for me, that code doesn't even look real, you're not returning anything with that over here". A simple "sorry ma'am I'm not able to return this for you because we don't accept QR codes" would have been perfectly fine. Then I asked if I could have a passport application, and she looked at me with a face of irritation and asked "first time or renew", and proceeded to walk away to look for them with such attitude. Then yells from the other room where the applications are supposed to be that they're all out. I don't leave many yelp reviews, but this I felt like needed to be said to warn people of the service they should expect from one of the workers. MsKeyes at the carson location, I was here to do a return, waiting patiently. She was already giving attitude to the girl before us. She told us if we could use the kiosk if we have a barcode (which we don't) and I told her " I don't have one & its okay, I'm already in line I don't mind. " She was still being sarcastic & acting superior to me and my partner. When it was my turn, she already treated me and my fiancé (both of us hispanic) with attitude. I get that you hate your job, but nobody was giving you attitude, we want to just drop off your package and go with respect. But once you break that respect, we have issues and I'll make sure to be a Karen that I have to be. After viewing the reviews at this location, looks like it's not the first time she's done this. So I went ahead and emailed to USPS personnel report and best believe I will make sure she gets a penalty or termination because this is NOT how you treat people. I made sure to get her name as well. Re-Train your employees or find another job if you aren't happy. Because once we left, the person behind us happened to be african american and she greeted them with such a different energy. I love going to this Post Office especially when Ms. Keyes is there. She is knowledgeable and always very helpful. Always very pleasant with me. Goes out the way to help. I renewed my passport with ease because she was there to guide me. I echo what many others have said. The USPS employee who sits to the far left (Eagles fan) consistently treats people in a belittling manner. I've been there twice in the past week, and each time she's been condescending when asking questions and visibly annoyed--rolling her eyes and sighing. It feels like she doesn't want to be there, and that energy is felt by customers. When I asked a simple question about a delivery date, she rolled her eyes and said, "I haven't gotten to that yet," in a dismissive tone. It's an unpleasant experience, and I now try to avoid visiting this location if I can. I had actually stopped going years ago because of her, but had to return today because my delivery was to a PO Box. And of course she is still there. Another customer and I were chatting in the lobby about how interacting with her is so unpleasant. That makes me sad because this is my community--I love Carson. I had one of the worst customer service experiences at this USPS location, specifically with an older black woman with short hair sitting in the far left chair next to the wall. She was condescending, unhelpful, and completely lacking in professionalism. Instead of providing clear guidance, she acted as if we should already know specific procedures that were neither posted nor communicated effectively. She exchanged looks with a coworker and then passive-aggressively directed us to fill out an address slip in another area without properly explaining what was needed in the first place. Her attitude was dismissive and unwelcoming, making what should have been a simple errand unnecessarily frustrating. Employees in customer-facing roles should know how to treat people with basic respect and professionalism. This woman should be reprimanded for her behavior, as she clearly lacks the patience and customer service skills required for the job. I strongly suggest management take action to ensure this location improves its service because interactions like this are unacceptable. I just had to take a very important moment to update my review for the most eloquent and more than improved post office. It's rather quite a shame to have to drive all the way to Carson for good service but that's what I need. My local post office (not speaking about the Century/Van Ness location) has poor service, long lines and horrible attitudes. It makes you doubt the idea of sending your mail through them. This location however has always impressed me. Honestly, I traveled all the way to Carson for postage stamps. Again, the locals didn't have any. Also when they do have a supply it's always your standard. When I arrived I was actually going to use the self-service machine. I'm sort of intrigued by it because our local post office have a machine but it's always out of order. So I wanted the experience of purchasing stamps from it. Well making the decision I overheard Ms Keys greeting each customer and wishing them happy holidays. She did this for each and every customer. So I decided to get in line and I told Johnny who was another cashier would awesome customer service experience, "Why stand in line to use a self-service machine when you have awesome employees that can give you good service". The beauty of the post office and the fact that it has plenty of parking and amazing employees, causes this location to stand out. I absolutely love coming here. Ok... it's been so many years since I've been to this post office until recently. Many years ago, I was mad and gave them 1 star because of an employee. This time around, I gotta bump it up from 1 star to 4 stars because these ladies they have now are younger and they work their butts off to handle everyone and everything going on during Coronamania. I would've given them 5 stars, but they don't have anybody managing how many people are able to enter the facility, despite the fact that there are signs that say there should only be a limited amount of people inside, due to the 'Rona. Aside from all that and the past negatives, I bumped UP my rating also because the young lady with the nice braids helped me out with such a welcoming attitude, despite them dealing with so many customers waiting in line. Her and the other ladies were strict, but very chill. It was more so the customers who were tripping out. I still very much love the lighting in here as opposed to the other post office nearby; which doesn't take away from their hard work at all. Parking is very awesome since it's basically the huge parking all around the South Bay Pavillion. They will provide you with pens and tape if you forget anything you need to send out your package(s) and what-not. Great job to all the hard working staff involved and stay strong through everything going on these days!!! After sitting in traffic to come to specific location bc they were open later than the long beach downtown location, I arrived at 5:49 and the doors were locked. They closed their doors 10 mins early. I understand they have had a long day, but I pay for the shipping for items and I except the store to be opened in the hours of operation listed. It's not right that the workers create the own hours of which THEY want to work when the rest of us have own businesses and have paid for the service of which they are to provide. Today I went to this location and I couldn't believe the unprofessionalism that had taken place. I arrived at this location around 4pm and I was at the counter I asked an associate for a pen and she guided me to one I then grabbed an envelope and was going to write my address on it. Then a associate that worked there said I couldn't write on the counter I had to go to the lobby and I had to purchase the envelope 1st , mind you it was 2 other customers so it wasn't like it was crowded or anything. I've been working for the post office for over 10yrs and have Never experienced anything like this before. I wasn't greeted at all to add to it. It's almost like being rude is a thing according to the reviews. After the rudeness I then said I will go to another post office we're the people are nicer !!!! And that's just what I did !!!! Very efficient and knowledgeable staff at this location! Like all government entities, doing something that should be relatively simple (like renting a P.O. Box) becomes a frustrating process, mired by a deluge of official bureaucratic forms. Allow me to save you some time... Go online and create an account at USPS.com. Then go to this post office location, which has ample parking and never seems to be as crowded as the other Carson location (Avalon & E 213th), and ask what to do. There is a veteran postal employee, a tall black woman whose name I neglected to get (!), who knows her stuff! She's awesome and will tell you exactly how to proceed! I wanted to rent a box for my mom's birthday, so cards and gifts wouldn't go to her house (it was all part of a surprise). The person renting the box has to be an in-state resident with two specific forms of ID, so I had to have my brother fill out all the forms and pay up front. Of course, I reimbursed him and he gave me the key, but I cannot stress this enough: whoever RENTS the box and PAYS for the box is RESPONSIBLE for the box! DO NOT give account or payment info to anyone else, unless you trust them 100%! The only reason this is a four-star review and not a five-star review is because the lobby and business hours are fairly limited. Most days, the lobby doesn't open until 8:30 a.m. Remember, the person working behind the counter did not create all the rules, forms and bureaucracy. They're doing their job, so be courteous to them! Like all of us, they most likely to be helpful to customers who treat them with the respect and patience they are shown! read more

The older African American Woman (clerk 99) that sits to the far left is extremely rude, throws shade constantly, and the young man with the mustache (looks Hispanic or White) is picking up her unkindness and rudeness. Even when you are extremely nice to her, she is terribly rude. I needed to send something next day, wanted to make sure I was using the proper envelope and label. They make you go way out to the far lobby instead of being accommodating. They then give precise instructions in a rude and condescending way Example: put your envelop in the express envelope package while you are over there, write on the correct form, then bring it back, but make sure you put your envelope inside first. They will not allow you to write on the table, that's in the line so you won't lose your place in line. No one was there when I got there. NO ONE was in line, but made me go to the far lobby instead. Mind you I had to copy the address off of the envelope, my writing is not that great, I left the envelop I was mailing out of the express envelop so it would be legible for her to read. She stated "don't worry about putting it in the envelope now, you should have done it over there, that's what you should have done" in the rudest condescending voice. I am 58 years old and she treats me like a child every time I come in there. I am a degreed individual from a prestigious school and she treats people like they have no sense. This time, I said to her "you don't have to be so rude, you're getting smart with me". She states: "oh I wasn't being rude. " I said "yes, you were". She then states...I was taking too long reading the monitor, I said I like to read the questions so I will know what I am agreeing to. She quickly went pass everything. I did not get the chance to read the address she entered into the system, I pray my package gets there. Or if she will be evil and not get my package there on time, since I confronted her in a very polite way. I "maybe" go to that post office once every other year and every time I go there she is extremely rude. Hence she has many complaints here on Yelp...many stating the same thing. If I could give this place NO STARS I would. But unfortunately in order to make a review I need to put a star. This is my local post office and the staffs here are so RUDE. They are always speaking or moving like they are in a hurry and there aren't even that many people inside. They have a tone and attitude when speaking to the customers. When walking into ANY place you should feel welcomed and comfortable especially if it's your LOCAL spot. But when you step in here you feel the complete opposite. You feel rushed, uncomfortable, and definitely not welcomed. Not sure if this the DMV or the post office because their attitudes in there are like the people who work at the dmv and don't wanna be there.
