Claimed that I refused my package yet they never even rang my doorbell or anyone's doorbell in my building for that matter. Now my packages are being sent back to Amazon without my consent. Apparently they are too lazy to deliver the package so they rather make up lies instead. I don't know how this place isn't shut down. They fake attempt deliveries consistently and your lucky to ever get your package on the scheduled delivery date. There is no use in ever choosing 2 day shipping because 9 times out of 10 you won't ever get the package on time or at all from this place. Steer clear if possible. read more

DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING HERE EVER. They STEAL. I've had my mother and my brother mail me two separate packages over the course of a year and the boxes had been reopened and packaged horribly and carelessly with regular clear packaging tape. How do they get away with this I'm not sure but twice I've received packages with missing content and I'm sure it's was missing long before it made it to its destination here in Atlanta GA. If you can save yourself the anger and frustration do not ever walk into this location. Clearly they aren't making enough money. Someone will be wearing my work clothes that I worked so hard to buy. Other ppl have clearly stated the same things that I have about missing packages and theft and fake attempts at delivering your packages. Maybe it's because this location is in a lower income neighborhood so they assume everyone is a joke and that you don't need the things that are sent to you but I wouldn't trust this location at ALL if I were you. How this happens two times coming from the same USPS location to two separate locations I've been addressed to in another city is pretty baffling and embarrassing that they even will still mail your packages looking dented and damaged. The first time this happened to me there was nothing not a damn thing in the box and the box LOOKED open and the idiot driver mailed an empty box to my house and left it on my porch. UPS AND FED EX are bad but they aren't despicable. I'll never do business that I have to pay for with USPS again! If I could give 0 stars I would. Not only was items taken out of my box I received items that my brother never even mailed to me which further proves that they steal and will have the nerve to send you items that don't belong to you. My brother mailed me clothes that I bought and I received items that he never even placed in the box and he advised that there was also brown packing tape on my box and that's not the case for the box itself. This has got to be the worst post office in the tri state area. I've resorted to making sure that most of my stuff gets shipped by UPS, because ANY time I get something shipped through USPS it has to go through this post office and inevitably gets messed up. Packages lost, info notices left without an article number (so they won't help you track it if you call), items scanned as "delivered" when they were never delivered... those are just a few issues I've had with this post office. There is nothing a citizen can do when the postal service fails as there are just no other options when dealing with certain faraway vendors. If it were up to me, I would rely solely on the private carriers. The post office, as an entity, is terrible. The tracking number a package that was due here Saturday does no good as the item is listed as "out for delivery" -- on Saturday -- and "not updated" as of Sunday. Today is Wednesday. And my local post office is terrible. Not only have the two packages, as of late, that were sent priority not arrive for over a week (this one is only technically five days late - was supposed to be here in 2-3 days) even items mailed in envelopes have not made it here. Case in point: my sister sending me not one but TWO birth announcements for my niece. And those are only the two I can definitely state never made it here. Strangely, on another occasion when I was waiting for a very important package a second package sent with it (regular mail), although addressed 100% correctly, was returned to the sender as undeliverable. If you try to call this post office, 90% of the time you will be met with a busy signal. If someone does pick up the phone, expect to say something like "good morning" and then be hung up on. And they're the only ones who can help you actually locate the package because the toll free number for usps will give you a case number and the good old "someone will call you back about this in 24 to 48 hours" but that doesn't help when you need a part to your car to be able to drive it. Or a silent auction item for a fundraiser happening on a certain day. I can only hope that the things I am mailing are reaching their destinations. There's no way of knowing. Perhaps a life of prayer is in order. The 11231 post office's only saving grace is Miss Jackson, who was able to locate my package assured me it will arrive yesterday. It was never delivered. Now, one week later and six days after it was supposed to be delivered I need to go pick up not one but two large packages from the post office on my bicycle. What's the point? Why didn't they just call me to get these earlier? Well, they have three trucks, over 50 routes and only one driver as the other two are out sick or with surgery. That plus layoffs: they are understaffed. I was told they are "three days behind" on packages. "We just don't have the manpower." Oh and my mailman, Jack, told me he will no longer be my mailman and that they have moved his route. It's a sad day for government agencies. And my mailbox. Hey, I need a job. Customer service is horrible. The male whom I can't identify because he doesn't want to mention his name nor did he wear a name badge works unimaginably slow. I've noticed him three times going back and forth doing nothing with a pink paper in his hand that a customer had previously picked up. I've heard him yell at management over the announcement system when management calls him over to his station because of a long line and on previous visits he was very rude and nasty. It wasn't until a supervisor came to the window that he changed his tone but still worked at a very slow pace. The visits I made previously had long lines, almost out of the door, were because this person walks away from the line when it gets busy sometimes in the middle of a transaction. Where is the work ethic? Where is the customer service? Why is he allowed to do this? And why is management not doing a thing about it? Why is he yelling at management??? This is horrible! This post office needs an automated machine! I wait half hour just to buy stamps at times and this man is rude every time! read more

Though I got a comfirmation, no redelivery was ever attempted...no slip left...basically I never heard back from the post office about this package. Where is it? TBD. if this place had cameras recording how it operates, you could sell the footage and it would have higher ratings than the Kardashians! My man on the first window on the left lets it be known how he is pid by the hour. I get him alot and aside from the attitude that is almost always there, he looks at me like its the first time he is seeing me, but that isnt the issue. this guy has gotten up and left me mid-transaction and I am not talking about in between a few of my packages, I am talking about in the middle of him typing which takes him about 5 minutes per line, one of my orders. I try to avaoid this place unless I absolutely have to go there. Cadman Plaza is also a disaster and I honestly feel if they were to investigate the level of seevice and attitude they both serve, they would clean house and there would be jobs available to those who need and want the work! read more

Beyond the shabby upkeep of this post office, the service is great and the people working there are friendly. Sometimes you wait a little longer on line because the staff actually knows their customers and will say hello- I'd say some local exchanges are worth maybe 15 extra seconds on line. I made visits to this post office a year apart and both times they had "technical issues" precluding them from taking cards. One time, during the holidays, nothing was working and they directed us to a different post office. The times I have gone when things were actually working have been unpleasant at best - unclean facility, slow moving lines, surly workers (but it depends on who you get). Also, since this is my local post office, I suppose they are responsible for the fact that I get no mail for weeks and then suddenly all at once crumpled and crushed into my mailbox. Avoid this place at all cost. Your package will be stolen and sold in some underground market. I can not believe the USPS has not done anything about this constant problem. Right now my package is in an investigation, however they hand over the investigation to the post office location, hence where the criminal activity happened. So then the person will call you to claim that you gave them the wrong tracking number, So they can write down in the investigation that it's your fault. It's all apart of the cover up, they also give you a fake number to reach them. Does anyone know how to get the real authorities involved? So ridiculous! Apparently everyone in the place has a bad back, because they don't even try to deliver packages. They simply leave you the pink note and force you to haul %ss to the post office. I know because I've come into the building to find the mailman leaving a note and when I said it was for me he said he didn't have the package with him that day... Once you get to the office I've had to both wait all morning and I've been dispatched in a minute, so it depends on the day. read more

mail....what mail?? Once again, mail does not arrive. All I can say is someone who works there is a felon. They love stealing your mail especially fashion magazines....anything from Victoria's Secret; waiting for clothing for a vacation??? forget it. The tracking will say "delivered" but it never arrives. I have had debit cards taken, then the pin numbers...then you find out someone has been trying to hack into your account. Sometimes magazines will arrive covered in "doodles", bent and mishandled or in shreds. I have brought this to the attention of the supervisor several times and nothing seems to change. It's better or worse in waves. I even filed a police report after the credit card incident. Finally considering getting a PO box in Manhattan. The only reason i'm giving this place 2 stars is because most of the people who work at the front windows are friendly. They have a sense of humor which helps. read more

I recently moved to the 11231 zip code and this is the absolute worst post office I've ever dealt with. Three times in a row I ordered from Amazon--I have prime so it's supposed to come in two days. Well each time I ordered 2-day delivery, on day 2 I got a text saying, "Your package has been attempted for delivery at 5:50pm." Meanwhile I AM HOME. This s the 3RD TIME IN A ROW. I'm home; I live in a brand new building and the buzzers do indeed work, so no one rang the bell and there is no notice on the door. Meanwhile the UPS and Fedex packages are all sitting in the lobby. I know that the Post Office service gets a bad rap and I have had some really terrible customer service in many offices in NYC. But I must say that I was happily surprised when the man behind the counter at the Red Hook was very helpful and accommodating, I even got a phone number to reschedule deliveries. I have already rescheduled a few deliveries and the postman and postwoman on the route are agreeable and professional. read more

My wife and I went to this post office to mail a package to a friend in Boston. The employee at the counter seemed a bit impatient from the start, but that didn't really bother us at first. The package weighed in at 14 ounces - too much for First Class Mail. The employee said our only option was to mail it via Priority Mail for $24. We were surprised, since we had shipped packages many times before from other post offices using the cheaper Standard Post. We asked if there were any other options. "I just told you what they were," she said brusquely. We were taken aback by her hostile tone, and didn't want to get in an argument, so we said no thanks and left the post office with package still in hand. What really bothered me was getting home and finding out that we definitely should have been able to ship the package using Standard Post, for considerably less than we were quoted. I don't know if this employee tries to rip people off on purpose, or is merely incompetent, but this really detracted from positive experience I've had at other USPS branches. read more

This is the worst Post Office I've ever experienced. First, they are all unprofessional .Whenever the workers does anything wrong and you attempt to report to the supervisor, you get a feeling that is the norm. Second, the package carrier (the guy with the truck that delivers your package is a fitly LAIR. I have never seen a carrier that falsified records so much without thinking about it. I had a package sent to me from Hong Kong,. I had paid so much to have it delivered within three business days. It's been 9 months since I moved to the area from Marine Park and I really miss the USPS service from over there. The U.S. postal carrier throws important mail including utility bills onto a small table as opposed to inside the mail box, which most of it ends up all over the mail area floor of our condo. My package status states it was delivered two weeks ago. I have never received it. I went in person to inquire about it after leaving a non-delivery note for the mail carrier, the manager took my info. said she would look into it and call me that evening and never did. After a follow up visit the next day still no info on the whereabouts of my package and the manager is off! I'm really getting annoyed. read more

The incompetence is so stunning in its magnitude that one is forced to wonder whether the employees are intentionally screwing things up to entertain themselves: 1) Mail is delivered to the wrong address with regularity. There's nothing positive to say about this dismal, dirty, disorganized place. It's an embarrassment to know that our post offices in New York City look like something out of 1970's Minsk. Over the years these people lost dozens of our packages (one of their employees was actually convicted of stealing packages this year), failed 90% of our pick up requests, and delivered hundreds of pieces of mail to our box that was not addressed to us. The last two times we attempted to pick up a package at this branch they couldn't find it. We go to Staples to ship packages these days, it's the same price and the experience is so much better. read more

They lost my passport. Granted, I'm responsible bc I renewed it right before I moved - didn't know that passports don't get forwarded with mail. Therefore the post office is supposed to send it back. Instead they kept mine hanging out on Clinton Street. The last place it was scanned was at their post office and it's been missing ever since. Probably collecting dust or being used as a coaster for someone's coffee cup. Not to mention that their phone just doesn't work. Do yourself a favor, a) don't renew your passport when you're in the midst of moving, b) if you don't have a choice, use your work address as your mailing address so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. The consumer affairs people are so helpful though. They really tried to get someone to find it. I went there in person and the woman there sincerely looked for it but didn't find it. ps: the postman "thinks" he delivered it. Wow! I'm impressed he can remember. Since I moved to the neighborhood in 2010 this post office has been atrocious. Packages sitting there for days without being delivered, misdirected mail, surly window attendants without a clue. I really think they're getting better. The last two times I went in, the window attendants were friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Unfortunately, my postal carrier still misdirects mail on a weekly, if not daily, basis (I'm constantly receiving mail for others that's not even addressed to my address). 3 stars for improved effort. read more

I had an oversized package they were able to accommodate and even re-tape. There is always a line, but the mail goes out. I prefer going here over the UPS office on Court because the USPS will at least charge an honest price for shipping. read more

Ok, now I know what everyone is talking about here. I had a package sent to me. I wasn't home so they left a notice. I called to get it redelivered. They had no record of my article number but said the package was probably on the truck and it would most likely be delivered the next day. No package. Called the next day and the day after that. Same story. Finally after more calls I called an 800 number and I spoke to a supervisor. She played around with my article number and realized they had neglected to write in a zero on the notice they left me. She assured me she would track down the package and call me within two days. NO CALL - and it is almost impossible to reach a supervisor. I looked for the correct article number on-line and the package was sent back to the seller. I will say that I have never had trouble at the actual location. The packages I send usually arrive quickly and without any problems. But there is something wrong with the truck delivery and it is sloppy at best. My on-line tracking shows that they NEVER gave me a second notice. They just sent my package back to the seller. This place needs to be investigated. The truck driver is not doing his job. read more
