I L-O-V-E this post office. I am a regular customer because I ship for my small online business through this post office. I'm one of those people who takes a long time to learn new things... every time I have a (probably stupid) question or confusion about how my parcel and it's contents should be shipped the employees are incredibly helpful, calm, and patient with me. They even... smile and look you in the eye. Omg. There have been a handful of times when I've been in and the wait has been about 10 minutes. They get through a huge crowd of people pretty speedily. But I just plop down on a comfy bench or head over to the automated shipper machine instead. One of the things I love most about this post office is that they close the doors at 5:30pm on the dot BUT they serve every last person already through the doors, without an ounce of resentment. Did I mention that once an employee actually took my ready to ship box, put it in a big envelope and saved me $10.00. She didn't have to do that. Another time I was about 5 minutes past the cut off time for overnight delivery and the woman actually grabbed the guy doing the pick ups and made him wait for my package to be processed. What... the government waited... for me? You rock Brea Post Office. I love that the people here smile and talk to me. Genuinely wish me a good day, weekend, Happy Thanksgiving, etc. Come to this post office if you want to be treated like a human being and know your shipment is in good hands (at least for a few hours!) read more

I was a little worried about coming here because of the reviews but I was in and out fast! Easy parking, nice workers, clean and organized. Came in around noon on Tuesday and there was only a small line. A friendly Asian man was there to great me when I walked in to see what I needed help with. He checked off what I needed on a ticket to make things go faster. I just had to mail something and he told me if I was using credit or debit I could use the computer which prints out a stamp. He helped me go through the whole process and it took me less than a minute! Super fast! Asian man, you made my day. read more

The post office here has some of the nicest staff which is helpful in trying to figure out all of the complexities of mailing stuff other than a straight letter envelope. No tempers, no rudeness, no sense of I am a government worker so I can do whatever the eff I want. Facilities are kept clean parking is ample. Being next to the mall helps too. read more

I am so disappointed with this Post Office. Multiple times I have gotten someone else's mail delivered to me. I'm constantly delivering the mail to my neighbors and my neighbors have delivered mail to me. Recently I ordered my birth certificate and the post office lost it. They have been no help in replacing and then I got it sent out a second time and it was returned to sender. These people are responsible for our mail in Brea and have lost confidential information. It's a shame I have to trust them with my personal information. Very dangerous feeling! read more

Went here to get my passport renewed; I had my picture already and application was filled out. The lady said I couldn't apply anymore because I had to check in at 12:30 even thought the website says they close at 2. She said it was an hour and a half process. I love this post office! Everyone is nice, caring, helpful and has a great attitude! Always a pleasant experience (and you know how fun post offices can be). So far bad service. This is my fourth trip to pick up a package. Twice I've been to the Anaheim Main Branch and twice here. Four visits waisted and still no package. The service is acceptable until you ask for a manager or supervisor. Today I saw Carlos and I really don't know what he did to get his job. He has no customer service skills, can't seem to explain why they want to charge me extra shipping when they lost the package for 3 weeks and told me he has more important things to do in the back then talk with customers. (at the age of 50) Flat out lied to me, saying there was someone ahead of me at the passport office, yet when the door opened.. he had to turn on the lights and there was no one in there.. 2-Day Priority Mail, NOT I wished to get a letter to Alexandria, VA before Saturday, February 1, 2014. I went to the post office on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at about 5:45 PM. I wanted to weigh the letter and send it. The Brea post office was closed, but there was a self-service kiosk (SSK). First-class mail said 2-3 days so I figured that the expected arrival date could be Friday or Saturday, so I chose 2-day priority mail. The cost was $6.95 rather than $0.47, but I figured that it would arrive there before Saturday for sure. My receipt said that the Expected Delivery Day was Thursday, January 30, 2014. So even if there was a problem, it should get there by Friday. By late Friday, January 31, 2014, I received information that the letter still had not arrived in Alexandria. So I went online to see where it was. All it said was that it had arrived at the Brea post office. So I went to the Brea Post Office to see what happened. The Post Office Supervisor looked at my receipt and pointed to the date and time on the receipt and said that it was posted after the Brea Post Office was closed. The SSK knew that and still gave me the Expected Delivery Date of Thursday, January 30, 2014. IF IT WAS TOO LATE THE SSK SHOULD HAVE MADE THE ADJUSTMENT. And it would have been useful to let met know BEFORE paying for 2-Day Priority Mail. When I asked about the tracking, the Post Office Supervisor said that when it is loaded onto the delivery truck in Alexandria, I will be able to see it in the tracking information. So the tracking system can tell me where my letter is 4 to 8 hours before my letter arrives at its final destination. This Supervisor tells me that if you don't hand the letter to a Post Office worker, it may not get tracked. If so, why doesn't the SSK make that clear. What is suspect is that the letter was not handled any differently than First Class Mail. That's why it will arrive at the same time as First Class Mail and why it cannot be tracked. To summarize. What did 2-Day Priority Mail promise me. 1. Expected delivery date Thursday, January 30, 2014. 2 Tracking of the letter along its trip. 3. Insurance if the letter is lost. What did 2-Day Priority Mail deliver 1. If the letter arrives tomorrow, Saturday, February 1, 2014, it will have arrived at the same time as a letter mailed First Class. 2. I might know 4-8 hours before the letter arrives at its final destination, that it is in the destination city. 3. It will be interesting (most likely frustrating) to see what happens if the letter is lost because it will cost about $20 to replace it. If this was a private business, one might call this bait and switch. Or one might expect the business to return the fee since they did not deliver the service. I used to think that the proposal to close down the USPS was a bad idea, but not anymore. read more

Our regular postman is wonderful, and we never get misdirected mail when he is on the job. Unfortunately, on the days he has replacements, it is a disaster. Our mail is delivered to other addresses and we get other people's mail. We have had checks and deliveries go missing and I wonder what other mail we, and our neighbors, don't get. I have caught the postman (never a woman) and given him back the misdelivered mail. They never offer an apology or a thank you. Recently we got a package of medications addressed to a neighbor on a different street AND a different number. Apparently he was waiting for the medication to be delivered, because the postal worker went door to door looking for it. I had already delivered it. I didn't tell him, hoping he might learn to be more careful and I spoke with the postmaster that day but nothing has changed. Yesterday and today we got mail addressed to my neighbor with the same address but different street name. When I called the post office the phone rang and rang, with no answer. If we could use a different post office we would. I agree with the other posters. They just don't seem to care, except for our regular postman. And he can't do it all. Worthless in every aspect. I ordered something that never got delivered. It was originally shipped via UPS that was transferred to the local Post Office. When I tracked my package it said delivered only to find out it wasn't in my mail locker nor my door step. I am trying to file a claim but it wont allow me, from the USPS to UPS. UPS sure post is thee worst shipping service next to Fed Ex. Absolutely horrible. read more

Don't apply for your passport here!!! I waited for 45 minutes until finally Rose decided to open the door and help me. Everything went smooth until she forgot to give me my license back. I called the next day and Carlos told me that it wasn't there and basically I was SOL (very rude). Then I physically went in to ask Rose if she had my license and she told me she mailed it to the Brea address on my application...too bad I didn't have a Brea address on my application!!! Brea wasn't on my license either...I live in a totally different city! Why wouldn't you mail it to the address on the license?? Or pick up the phone and call the number on my application? Bottom line, it's been two weeks and I have my passport but no license. Looks like I get to take a trip to my other favorite place - the DMV to spend $28 and get a new license. THANKS ROSE!!! The passport renewal section is very, very slow and horribly inefficient. It seems like they only have one person working the passports and it's ridiculous! I spent 2 hours on a Saturday just waiting for my turn! Definitely not coming bask to this location to get my passport work done. read more

This is only for the passport services-- went to apply for a new passport for my toddler. This is one of the few post offices that take walk-ins. The sign on the door says that the passport services open at 9am-2am (last sign up at 1pm) but when we arrived on a Wed. AM at 9:20, the door was closed and the sign up sheet was not up. We were told by one of the counter employees the agent would be there at 9:30am. We appreciated the update. I had prefilled all the forms out online, the passport photo was already prepared and checks ready to go. As soon as the agent arrived at 9:30, we were in and out in 10 min!!!! He was very efficient, friendly and thorough. This passport experience exceeded my expectations. Go in the AM on a weekday and minimize your chances struggling in line with a toddler . =) read more

I submit Hold Mail to the Post Office on a fairly regular basis. I always mark " I will pick up accumulated mail". Over the past couple of years, on FOURTEEN occasions, this local Post Office has not followed my instructions. Mail is delivered when not supposed to be delivered, it is delivered to the wrong address, etc. I am told to keep on submitting a complaint but this is a monopoly so complaining achieves no improvement in service. read more

I went to this post office because it's the closest one to my working place. I needed to ship a laptop so I waited in line wanting to hand it off to a live person instead of having to dump it in the turning metal box. Well, first thing the postal worker did was ask me if I am paying by credit card. I said yes. So she takes me to the automated machine to generate the mailing label and pay the postage fee. First thing she says is it looks like i need more tape on the box. Now, at the post office near my house they would not only say something but they would get the tape dispenser from behind the counter and add tape for me. Not this post office. She tries to push that cheap generic packaging tape that they sell in the post office. First thing I said was, "oh no, I'm not buying that tape, that tape is terrible!" Then the workers behind the counter look up and give me the stink eye like I'm trying to be a difficult customer. Being a long time ebay powerseller for 20 years, I said "That tape you sell is horrible!" "It tears as soon as you try to use it then it sticks to the roll so that you have to dig, and dig, and dig, to try and find the end." "Then when you find the end you pull it and it rips the tape in two down the middle of the roll." I told her that scotch heavy duty packaging tape is the best, which was the truth." So I went across the street to target, bought a roll of the scotch packaging tape and added more tape to my box in their parking lot. Then I went back to the post office where they directed me back to that same automated postal machine. I kept thinking, if their workers were a little bit faster then they wouldn't have to redirect people to a machine instead of a live person. For the first time in my life, I was told to buy a roll of tape for $3.49 from a post office so that I can tape my package because this post office doesn't provide taping. This happened in the Brea post office today. No wonder USPS is deep in trouble right now. If they have this kind of customer service, how can they survive and compete with FedEx or UPS?? read more

I almost feel sorry for writing this because they are nice group of people and I haven't had any problem until now. I used usps.com to ship a package. I chose priority express so it can be delivered next day. I dropped it off around 11:30 in the morning (I didn't have somebody scan it but used the drop box). It was supposed to be delivered on Saturday (Feb.14) but delivered on 17th. So I went to post office and asked for a refund but was denied. Because the package was scanned after 5 in the afternoon that day so it missed the cut off time for next day delivery. Why didn't I have it scanned by post office employee when I dropped it off? I've been sending packages (priority express included) without any problem so far. Yes, it's my fault just dropping it off without somebody scan for it. I think there should be a note on that dropbox that if it's priority express you should have it scanned so there won't be any doubt that you brought it to the post office before cut off time. This is the last straw. Too often, my packages are delivered to the wrong address and I have received packages with a different address. My husband has made several complaints to the postmaster over the 3+ years we have been living at this address, yet nothing has been done to correct this issue. I finally called them today after my package was delivered to the wrong address AGAIN, and the supervisor offered no solution to the problem except that she would have to conduct an investigation. The mail carrier even called me to say that he often confuses my address with another place because the addresses are so similar. If you knew that was a problem, then you should pay extra close attention when delivering mail/packages to both addresses. I'm tired of receiving the wrong mail/packages and having my mail/packages being delivered to the wrong address. Brea USPS is so unreliable, mail carriers can't do their job, and their postmaster is doing nothing to hold them accountable for their mistakes. read more
