I live in the neighborhood and went to mail a package. One of the mail clerks who just happened to…read morebe of Indian descent served me. The package was partially open. He complained that the package was open and he had to tape it. I told him that I understood. Then where you have to press the comment (smile, neutral, sad or mad), I pressed the neutral face. He said"After I helped you tape the package and you're giving me a neutral face?" Then he threatened to make me go to the back of the line(which was about 15 people) and tape it. I called the Postmaster and he said he'd be reprimanded. Before that, I came to mail a package that was supposed to go to UPS instead of USPS and he asked me if I could read. I came back and reprimanded him and threatened to go to the Postmaster if I came back there next time. I have a Doctoral degree in Education and he speaks that way to me. Even if I didn't, no one should speak that way to anyone. Perhaps he has a problem with Black women or all women. I have a right to go to the post office in my own town. However, if he is still there and I encounter him again, I will have to take this matter higher. He serves the public and should have the decorum to do so, or he shouldn't have the job. It's bad enough that we have to wait on these extended lines, but then to have to deal with that kind of insolence and disrespect, is unacceptable.

When the other clerk asked what was going on, the first clerk told her that this woman was going back home to Colombia tomorrow. I commented out loud that the service in this place was amazing. Then the second clerk came around and hugged the woman. On her way back behind the counter, she gave me a hug as well saying she didn't want me to feel left out. Then when the Colombian woman finished her transaction, she gave me a hug also. Five stars.
