Now this post office has started returning my packages to the merchant, instead of putting it in the P.O box that I'm paying for. The delivery manager Juan can't explain WHY they can't put my packages in my PO box. I'm missing an expensive package that was supposedly delivered weeks ago. Time to call the postal inspector. Don't bother getting a PO box at this location... it's not worth the aggravation ..

After we made an appointment for a few days later and although we checked the web site current regulations where we only needed the parents to show our faces, we were told that they also needed to see our little girl in the flesh. A third trip to accomplish what we set upon. Once we had satisfied all of the obstacles, we submitted the application and now we wait. Hopefully, our little girl can go to Aruba for Christmas. As an aside, both of the people in the post office we very friendly and genuinely seemed interested in helping us acheive our goal. They were informative and at the same time, sensitive to us in our dilemma.

Neil, Kate, Lori and the gang all do an OUTSTANDING job dealing with my occasionally odd shipping requests with courtesy, professionalism and proficiency. What's more, to their credit, they do a commendable job of dealing with the spoiled, entitled, miserable jackasses who populate the vicinity, some of whom have already apparently commented below on this entry. So I live in the East Norwich district but I usually go to Oyster Bay Post office. One day I didn't have time to go to OB post office so I went to East Norwich. I had to mail a package. I didn't have any tape at home so I figure I will just wait till I get to the post office. I waited on line forever not to mention it wasn't even that many people in there it's like he just didn't want to help me finally it was my turn. Everything was an issue with this guy. First I ask for tape, he stated we don't have tape. ok I said to myself this is a post office how do you NOT have tape. so I say can I buy some tape he goes we don't have tape. Oooook then, can I purchase a book of stamps. He states we don't have any. Next I asked, Can I use your scissors please, he states I don't have any. So at that point I'm just thinking this is not so much a customer service issue it's a race issue now. So I said what am I suppose to do and he states I don't know. So I left because I knew my presence wasn't welcome there. On the other hand my mail man Matt is awesome. I couldn't have been blessed with a better mail man then him. Even when people mess up my address he knows that's it my mail. When my name is spelled incorrect with a incorrect address he knows it belongs to me. Matt has been serving me way other 10 years and has never let me down. When I do get someone else's mail I automatically know that Matt is on vacation cause Matt will never make that mistake. First, they send back my envelope saying I need 63 cents, so I put 2 stamps on the envelope and sent it out again. Then a day later I get my envelope back and they say I need an additional $1.43! SINCE WHEN DOES IT COST ALMOST $3 TO MAIL A NORMAL SIZE LETTER/ENVELOPE WITH 7 PIECES OF PAPER? Also, why are they telling me different prices? I'm done with this postal service! We pay after. Another time I had them simply stamp everything for "today's" date and then mail it out but instead of using the address to ConEd on the front they mailed it back to the sender via our return label on the back of the envelope. They didn't even try to send it to the recipient. I'd post pics but for the privacy of our company and recipients, I chose not to. Horrible customer service. I recommend any other post office on Long Island. The only thing worth it here is the beautiful artwork on the ceilings, friezes, and the old architecture. Happy posts!

I would advise NOT going there if you get her and if you're Chinese. I had appt for my passport from 2-2:45pm. I arrived at 2:20 and the passport lady Andrea said right away I was late. Btw, that's how she greeted me. I said I'm sorry but my paperwork says it's from 2-2:45pm. Then she said I had to be there at 2:15pm the latest. But no where in the paperwork or on her paperwork says that. So I asked if I needed to reschedule. She handed me the form and told me to fill out. I asked if I need to reschedule. (Reason why I asked her because she looked so annoyed that I was there and she really didn't want to do it.) I gave her the opportunity to tell me to reschedule but she didn't. Before walking away, she slam the window closed. Again, rude but whatever. I dealt with it. Then I walked to fill out. 5mins later I was done and I rang the bell. No one answered. But I waited. And waited and waited. I rang the bell again. No one came. I even heard the bell throughout the postal office. But still no one came. Finally my husband went to the front to ask if there's going to be anyone doing passports. Finally another lady came to open the window and said we were late. I was annoyed at this point because we waited this whole time and no one came. I told her I rang the bell. She said no one heard it. Then finally Andrea appears at 2:45pm (with her pocketbook ready to leave work) and said "well you were late". I said to her that I asked if I needed to reschedule and you didn't say anything except for me to fill out forms. Then she said well I was late and she couldn't do my paperwork. I knew from the beginning she didn't want to do my paperwork. She wanted to leave at 2:45 which she was about to walk out. I also felt she saw that I'm a Chinese girl and felt the rush of a power play with me. Andrea was nasty, and rude. She couldn't wait to push me around to get her rush of joy. She needed to have that power trip to make her feel better about herself. I was livid at this point. Enough was enough. I called her out say she was rude and nasty from the beginning. I said you even shut the window in front of my face. What more did you need to feel superior??? Andrea greeted me by saying I was late, (which i wasn't). Then she slams the window shut in front of my face. Then she proceeds to make me wait at the window even after ringing the bell 2x. Then says she didn't hear the bell. At point point of arguing g she said I was suppose to confront her about the shutting the windows in front of my face if I felt insulted. ??? She's a piece of work. How can anyone NOT be insulted??? She very racist. She saw a Chinese girl coming up to the window for passports and she didn't want to do mine. She used all kinda of excuses not to do my passport. But then she took to next level but shutting the window, then pointing fingers in my face and making me wait... knowing she wasn't doing my passport. I never been so appalled in my life. I felt the hate she has when she saw me walked up to the window. She never wanted to do it.... Which I think partially because I was Chinese. But I bet if I was an anyone else BUT a Chinese lady, her attitude would have been different.

I've had the good fortune of 5 min or less wait time. There was only one customer in front of me during my last visit. Staff was very helpful. He informed me of all available stamps since holiday stamps not yet on display and was very happy to get stamps from one of my favorite children's books.

It's always a pleasure taking in the ambience of such a picturesque part of Long Island with so many vintage buildings with a harbor backdrop. While this post office does not have its own parking and street parking is usually taken up, there is a public parking lot next door and almost always has available spaces. The post office itself has very helpful and charming help. I have never had such outstanding service in a post office before. It doesn't get better than this! It's never that crowded, either. At best, I've had two people ahead of me, but more often than not, I am the only one there! I wish this post office and all its employees the very best. While I live 15 minutes away, I'd much rather go here than to my local post office.

Not only are they sullen, but they don't understand a lot of the USPS services (i.e., Click-n-Ship). I will be using the village Post Office going forward, despite the fact that the lines are longer because I no longer have the patience for the incompetence of the Halesite location.
