I used to frequent the US Cafe in Lindbergh, but I've recently been coming to this location. Both locations seem to be very clean, although this location is brighter, so it seems to be more spacious. Based on the exterior of this place I wasn't really expecting to be wowed and that's okay. Sometimes you just want some food in your face because you're starving. That was the case when hubby and I stopped there for lunch last Saturday. The young man at the register who took our order was not only smiling and friendly, he seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the place. That's always a nice way to begin your experience. When we asked Mr. Friendly what US Cafe is known for he said, "Burgers and wings." Their "standard" cheeseburger is a single ¼ pound patty. If you want a 1/2 pound, they offer TWO options. You can get either TWO ¼ pound patties OR a single 1/2 pound patty. I'm not sure why -- maybe the two offerings are made from two different kinds of beef or something. Anyway, I'm a suckahhhh for a good burger, so I went with the US Super Angus Cheeseburger which is the single 1/2 pound patty and hubby ordered the same, with an order of fries. Note: Burgers by default come fully dressed. I think that means ketchup, yellow mustard (the best kind!), mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles and raw onion. Of course you can customize your burger. Hubby's a burger purist, so he just likes ketchup. I'm more of a toppings girl so I get everything but raw onion. Plus I switched out my cheese from American to Swiss. Yum. We filled our drinks cups at the self-serve fountain of COKE PRODUCTS (as it should be) and made our way past a pool table to the the back corner of the restaurant where we found an open table under a television. No sooner did we sit down than I noticed a MS PAC-MAN MACHINE, a pinball machine and a Golden Tee video golf machine! Whaaaaat?? Welcome to my 80s adolescence! So far, I'm thinking, "This is my new favorite joint and I haven't even tasted the food yet!" When your order is ready they yell your name through a microphone (very burger-jointy of them). Hubby picked up our food and the minute it arrived I knew I'd like it because the burger wasn't even close to round and was partially hanging out the side of the bun. That's the mark of a house-pattied burger if ever I saw one! As my Cleveland-born man waxed poetic declaring, "Mmmm, this is like a bowling alley burger," I sunk my teeth into one of the yummiest hunks of cow I've had in a long time. The bun is soft, the Swiss cheese is melty and stringy and the slice of ripe tomato is so thick that it threatens to slide out of the bun onto the table. Messy? Yes! Delicious? Double yes! The fries appear to be cut fresh in house and they remind me of Five Guys except Five Guys fries tend to be soggy. These were better. I doctored them up with some truffle salt I carry in my purse (#SaltDork) because everything tastes better with truffle. Charm--- I had to get this review up out ya...couldn't wait any longer!!!! Sorry about the inside jokes! Anyways, I had driven past this spot at least 15 times over the past month. A friend of mine owns a really cool boutique in this shopping plaza, and had mentioned that the food was good, but it just didn't look like anything spectacular, so I passed on it. Anyways, after a suggestion from my best friend and his wife, regarding their amazing burgers I went ahead and gave U.S. cafe a shot. Once I realized that I had passed this spot willingly so many times, I cant say that I was excited to give it a try. The spot is deceptively smaller than you mgiht imagine, and really has the feel of a place that you need to be ordering take out only from. The restaurant is partitioned into 4 different areas...a back dining room, that seems to be pretty peaceful, a pool/arcade room with about 2 pool tables, a tv and a few arcade games, the front dining room (filled with old azz booths) and outdoor patio, where no one was sitting at the time that I went. This spot doesnt really serve you, its more of a order your food at the counter and we'll call you when its ready. Although I wasnt expecting this, it actually worked for me. I ordered a Turkey Burger as well as a larger Cheeseburger, requesting onions be grilled extra well on both. I have to say the burgers was pretty good. Fresh ingredients, great flavor, and honestly I probably could had one more of those bad boys, but I decided against it. The Turkey burger was pretty tasty too, but this place might be best if you just stick to the beef. The burgers come wrapped in a half sheet of paper, so you dont actually have to touch it if you dont want to.... I'll defintely be back here for some of these burgers. US Cafe is a good burger joint. Again I have found what I like and I don't branch out much but their regular cheeseburger is sheer yummy goodness. All the ingredients seem to be very fresh. I also like that the regular burgers are not enormous but you can order bigger ones with extra beef patties if you need more food. The fries are fresh and delicious. The only other menu item I can speak to are the milkshakes, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, they are the real deal. My husband always has one. He also likes their chili dogs but they turn him into "onion boy" so I frown on their consumption. The atmosphere is appealingly retro but not in an overly planned Johnny Rockets kind of way. Sooooo went there for lunch and first we got some cold hard mozzarella sticks and some ok cheese burgers. They had someone who barely spoke English blurring out the order names on the speaker which made us have to get up every time se yelled something because we weren't sure what she just said or if it was our food. The place needs some major face lifts. The dining room with the booths smells like toilet water. Maybe it has something to do with that gianourmous crack in the floor. Whatever it is I don't want to be smelling that while I'm eating. The base of the booths are all cracked and has a million holes on them and some of the walls are stained and chipping off. I drive past this place all the time and wondered if the advertising outside was true, "Best burgers" I stopped by on Friday and decided to try them out. I odered a cheese burger, fries, and drink, $6.50 before tax. The burger was awesome, just the right size 1/4 pounder. None of this over the top bs where you think you are getting your "money's worith" and all you end up is with a plate o' crap. The burger was full of flavor and cooked just righ! The fries were great, home made but with a lot of flavor. The atmosphere is like a sports bar but without all of the male-posturing jock bs and rampant chest-bumping and ass slapping. I live less than 5 minutes down the street and drove past this location more times than I can count. Yet, I only just visited for my first time a couple of weeks ago. We had a hankering for some wings. A quick search on Yelp yielded the US Cafe. It's no secret that when you walk into the place you can tell it's been there a while. I refuse to harp on that. When we got up to order I noticed that you can order your wings Crispy, XCrispy, XXCrispy, or XXXCrispy. To me, I love that you are giving me the option, because most wing places won't or don't. My husband and I ordered 20 wings to share, XCrispy with medium sauce. Then I see those magic words "Fresh Cut Fries." Of course, the fry abides. It does take about 10 or 15 minutes to get your order because everything is made to order. It's as simple is paying attention so you can hear your name being called, going up to the counter, and taking your food back to the table. We got our order from the counter, sat down and enjoyed our first wing. When you bite into the wing, the obscene crunch that follows is delightful (I love crunchy wings, if you couldn't tell). My crunchy wingies were complemented by wonderful fresh cut friends that you can never go wrong with. For the record, I've already been back to the US Cafe for a second time since my first visit (only a week apart). Whenever you need a quick to go bite, or you just can't decide what you want, US Cafe is the perfect place to supplement your appetite indifference or simply enjoy the spoils that Smyrna has to offer. read more

Friday Lunch Bunch visited a few weeks ago. Somehow, I'd never noticed this place in all of my traveling up and down South Cobb. Anyway, this was just an okay lunch experience. Between the three of us, we (separately) ordered a turkey burger, an order of 20 wings, and an order of 10 wings. One right after another. And the burger came up to the counter and smelled delicious - that member of the FLB went and snagged a table for us out of the crowded patio. A minute later, the 20 wings came up looking good and spicy - that FLB person joined our friend out on the patio. And about 15 MINUTES later (wtf?!?), I finally sat down at the table with my wings. Um...did they have to go and raise the chickens for these wings? What the heck took so long?!?! I ordered lemon pepper wings, which were just okay. As a public service announcement, I'd like to let you know their lemon pepper wings are rubbed in spice and not a wing dipped in a sauce. The fries were good. US cafe gets 4 stars for nostalgia for me! Realistically, I should say 3 stars because I haven't explored the menu thoroughly, as I'm more of a order-what-I-know-I-like kinda gal. But it just feels like a 4 to me. I remember first eating at US Cafe in middle school and high school after football games on Friday night. I went to a small k-12 private school off south cobb, so we did a lot of growing up in this joint. It was poppin Fri/Sat around 9-10 when we would usually take over the booth seating and wait for our order. Everyone went. It was our after-party. Our big win celebration. Our hangout spot even though our parents dropped us off. It was the first place I shared fries and a milkshake with one straw. First time ever having chicken wings. First time holding hands with my 9th grade boyfriend. Lots of memories in this place.... ANYWAY! On to the food-- Now that I'm old enough to drink, it's still a spot I think of only for shooting pool, strawberry milkshakes and the oh so delicious chicken tenders and French fries. They are hand cut and seasoned well so extra salt isnt needed. I love that they serve it with a big thick slice of buttered Texas toast. The wings are Uh-mazing. I have a texture issue so I crave that crunch! Crispness is crucial when it comes to my chicken wings and this place delivers above and beyond, you can choose between a range of crispness levels. Genius! I've had burgers here but they are nothing special, and I'd rather have chicken any day. I like their honey mustard, which is a bit strange I guess but it's good. My mom is the black bean burger turkey burger kind of woman and she always gets something of the sort here, and eats it up. I'm assuming it's pretty delicious. This is a place you don't need to go out of your way to stop into. It's more of a craving a creamy thick pink milkshake and happen to be nearby, or perhaps you want to take the kids to eat something unhealthy after a sporting event or Saturday school... This is an interesting place. It looks like a standard burger joint, but when I went last night I saw: a teenage first date playing video games, a father teaching his son pool, and a group of grown folks talking about relationships while watching the football game. Clearly, this is a bit of hang-out spot, and attracts a diverse crowd (and by "diverse", I don't mean "urban". It's literally diverse, in race, age, and sex). The burgers are surprisingly good. Fresh made, good meaty flavor, and a nice bun to complement it. They offer quarter pound and half pound versions. The quarter pounder is perfectly acceptable for me, though probably most men would beg to differ. In my mind, US Cafe beats any other fast food burger, and rivals many of the fancy offerings out there. So this is much, much better than Five Guys, and even better than the beef burgers at Yeah! Having lived in Smyrna my entire life, I've spent countless nights at US Cafe. It is the local hangout after high school football games, and it has become a favorite spot even on Christmas Eve for families. All of the reviewers commenting on the interior, you got your wish! They are currently undergoing renovation to make the main dining room much more spacious. I hope that it still retains the "feel" it has after all these years. For others complaining about having to get up to go check for your food due to confusion with name pronunciation....Really? Don't come to a fast casual type restaurant. If someone had your same name, you'd have to get up multiple times no matter what. If you're looking for a good ol' fashioned cheeseburger, look no place else. US Cafe has the best burgers around (I also like Muss &Turner's burger, but that's a little fancier). The burger here blows Five Guys out of the water - there is no comparison. This is one of my usual lunch spots. It's a decent place. I come here for their burgers. I would actually prefer 5 Guys' burgers down the street, but this place gives the similar quality burgers for a lower price. I'm not a big fan of their fries. But I can see how some people would like their fries. To me, they're too salty and greasy. The atmosphere is typical bar style. There's pool tables, TVs, and greasy walls. Went to US CAFE last night for the first time. I will not be back. I had a half pound burger combo for $10.95 which include the worst fries I have ever had and a drink. The Burger itself was a "D". The description said it would come with mayo, mustard, pickles, diced onion, and crisp lettuce on a sesseme bun. The onion was chunks not diced, the lettuce was wilted greens as far from crisp as you could get, couldn't find the mustard. The Burger was well done and virtually tasteless. I had to drown it in ketchup. The fries were soggy grease sticks that made my stomach turn. There was absolutely nothing redeeming about this meal. Rarely is a meal so bad that I won't give a place a 2nd chance with something different. This is that place. Save your money. The 2 for $6 Whopper special at Buger King will blow this burger away with money left over (the Burger is $7.00 by itself). read more

I gave US Cafe one star in my previous survey 4 month's ago. They've improved since. 3 times in a row my to go order has been good. Also, the size of chicken wings is better. Not from Cornish hens The person taking orders: Why does it matter if it's a combo? Interrupting a customer while ordering to ask if order is a combo is annoying. Perhaps, if order is with drink..makes it a combo? Some people don't know what a combo is. Why not ask if ordering a drink before customer starts to order, if that's the case. I have only visited once, for lunch. My feedback from that visit is as follows: Pros:The people were warm and welcoming. The food was good. Cons: I had only three concerns- (1) The season salt tasted sweet (I think it contains brown sugar); which, was bad for my friend with diabetes. So I heard this restaurant get compared to Whataburger...which is one of my favorite fast food burgers (not found in GA). I went to the US Cafe, I went in holding it to a high standard. While I did NOT find anything similar to a Whataburger...I did find delicious fresh ingredients served by friendly people behind the counter. It was SO GOOD! The burger was cooked perfectly, and tasted great! We made the trek from Sandy Springs (approx. 30 min drive) and it was totally worth it! They have a great ambiance in the restaurant as well. Lots of TVs, plenty of seating indoor and outdoor, and even a pool table! If you are in the area (or not in the area) I'd definitely recommend trying out US Cafe! We will be back for sure! read more

Great local burger joint. The burgers are great. I like the variety of sauces available. Try some A1 on your burger. My family likes the sweet potato fries. I usually get a chocolate shake or malt that they make the old fashioned way which is nice. They have an outdoor patio. The inside has a number of TVs, and three pool tables.
