Came here after a hike and was a little hangry. Ordered a panini and pizza which cost $30. Those two items alone took 30+ minutes. It was crowded, but still just two items for them to make. A waiter noticed us waiting, and asked for our name. He came right out with the food, making me think it had been sitting there for awhile. The breakfast panini was a little bland, and the canto (?) pizza (prosciutto) was small but good, especially the cheese. Food was warm but felt like it had been sitting for a little. Further, when we ordered, the girl ordering next to us asked if the prosciutto panini contained meat. The cashier turned to our cashier next to her and had to ask him if there was meat in the prosciutto sandwich... didn't affect me personally but something they should probably know seeing that a lot of their items have prosciutto. Great vegan friendly restaurant. First timer. Esmeralda was awesome and very knowledgeable with the vegan menu options which is rare and great for both the restaurant and customer. She suggested the Spring vegan pizza which was a new item on the menu. It was DELISH!!! Vegan Monterey Cheese tasted awesome. The only reason I'm giving 4 's instead 5 is because refills on coffee is extra. Other than that, loved the place and will definitely be back. read more

This is my second time here. I love this quaint setting! There is always a line, but both times, our wait was short. I had an Italian Cappuccino and a Earl Grey tiramisu. I would really like to give this place at least 4 stars but due to slow service in the past, the best I could currently give is only 3 stars. The first time I was there a few months ago - it literally took 20 minutes for me to get my stuffed French toast and cappuccino as to where my friends who ordered before me had to request their food because it never arrived and then they received it cold. They had the same experience a time after that... We recently went back on Saturday to give them one more chance and fortunately they have improved as to the wait was not as long and my friends order came minutes after mine. Kudos to the staff. Placed an order online, came in and told them we were here to pick up our order. They told us "wait by the kitchen we'll call your name right now" 30 minutes go by still haven't received our food.. so we go up and ask how much longer and it turns out our order was sitting there waiting the whole time.... So now we have cold food. To top it off we leave and realize something is missing from our order.... terrible service for a high price. read more

Lining up and ordering inside the building at Urth Caffe in Laguna is not safe during this pandemic. There was no limit to the number of people inside the building. When I was there on a Sunday night there had to have been at least 30 people in that small space with no way to socially distance. There are no signs stating mask wearing is mandatory while inside the building and no one implementing the rule. There were many patrons not wearing masks the night I was there. I did ask some teenagers in front of me to put their masks on now that they were inside and they just gave me a dirty look. I will not be going back to Urth Caffe for a long time. For some reason Yelp shows that there are sanitizers and temp checks, this is untrue. I should note, the people working there are kind and patient and all complied with the safety protocols. read more

Urth Cafe is pretty notorious in the LA area and I was really excited to hear its new location in the Laguna Beach area. I was finally able to give this place a whirl and see what this place is all about and whether it even stood up to all the hype. I came in on a Sunday morning around 8ish and was excited to see it wasnt so crazy busy but there was still a line to order. You order your food and drinks then its self seating. The menu had a great selection of healthy eats as well as a great selection of teas,coffees,boba, and smoothies just to name a few. I ordered the Egg Salmone which consisted of poached eggs with arugula wrapped with a thin piece of smoked salmon laying over a nice slice of toast. This was served with thin slices of fresh cantoloupe and I must say it was quite delicious. A meal not too heavy but is definitly fullfilling. I loved the taste of fresh dill and small bites of capers that made a great addition of flavors for this dish. I also ordered a fruit tart to start and it was amazing! Yes,I am a gal that eats dessert first! To drink, I ordered a mango, strawberry and pineapple smoothie and it was slightly tart but a nice amount of sweetness. My friend had the stuffed french toast with a side of potato latkes. I had a taste of the latkes and it was yummy! Nice crisp textures served with ketchup and for those who dont know what this is ,its basically a fancy name for hashbrown haha. Overall the food was Delicious but I minus a star due to the service. We must have waited close to 30-40 min for our food. The server mentioned our order getting mixed up but it even took a while to recieve our smoothies. Luckily we were seated outside and the sunday breeze distracted the long wait but it would have been nice to have an overall 5 start experience. Overall,if in the area,I would definitly visit again and try the other options on the menu as well as the other pastries. This is a great location with awesome scenery - about a block from the ocean. I usually have no complaints but the service seems to be gettin worse everytime I go there. For starters, the table we were sitting at took about 20min to get cleaned away from the people who were sitting there before us. Every bus boy or waiter who passes us seemed to just ignore us. I love the La location, so I was excited when Laguna opened. I crave the Spanish latte dark. I can't seem to find it anywhere else. So having a location closer to me makes it nice. The line was about 15 minute wait, but we were happy they were still serving breakfast at noon. I am not crazy about breakfast food, so I checked out the lunch menu but because everything was over $13 and i wanted to get a specialty drink too I opted for the $9 breakfast burrito. My boyfriend also ordered off the breakfast menu, getting the ham and cheese panini for $10. Both my burrito and his panini were fine, but nothing to write home about. My spinach tortilla didn't taste unique at all, and the tomato sauce they served both with was probably just canned pasta sauce. Even though both were fairly priced, it felt like we spent a lot on things we easily could have made ourselves. One thing I will say was awesome was that they offered guac for my burrito at NO EXTRA CHARGE! We also split a heated chocolate pastry which was truly wonderful and entirely worth it for $4. My iced grean tea with boba was very good and happily not very sweet. He ordered a mint chocolate espresso with whip and my god was it delicious. We sat drinking it for about 40 minutes in wonder at how good it was - this is the real gem here! The overall vibe is really the fun part of this place. Lovely place to have brunch and hang out on the weekend! I've been to locations in LA but this place is by far the nicest. They have large outdoor patio seen and is located within walking distance to the beach. Extremely crowded on the weekend, so either come really early or during slow hours after lunch times. I decided to go with a salmon Benedict on toast while my cousin went with the sliced ham on toast. Comes with slices of honeydew and a strawberry. The portion was pretty large, and really delicious. We also ordered an Earl grey latte and green tea boba blended. It is a rare place to fine good Earl grey tea latte, but Urth Caffe does it right. Only residential and metered parking around the area. Came here for my birthday brunch this past weekend and had a great time due to awesome company and delicious food. We ordered stuffed French toast, Poach di Parma and a side of bacon and potatoes. Everything was so scrumptious and the bacon was to die for!! I'm not a bacon person but the bacon here might've changed it for me. It was thick, a bit chewy, savory, and just the right amount of saltiness. But then again I don't eat a lot of bacon so it could just be my preference on how I like it a certain way. I definitely don't like it super crunchy, oily and super salty like the usual bacon I eat from other breakfast joints. I could go on an on about the other two dishes that we ordered but you should just do yourself a huge ginormous culinary favor and just give them a try the next time you are here!! There is a reason this spot is always packed...it is amazing!! Definitely a local gem. We have yet to try something we didn't love. Our daughter loves the açaí sorbet waffles and wished they carried the pumpkin latte year round, lol. I enjoy the honey vanilla latte with either an omelette or the chicken cilantro with pesto sandwich and side salad. The line moves fairly quick and the orders tend to come out in a reasonable amount of time. We can't say enough positive things about Urth Caffe. read more

I've heard this place was super gas but upon arrival I was far disappointed. My boy got the quiche of the day and it was pretty alright would maybe get that again. But the açaí bowl and boy oh boy was I perplexed. It came out to us absolutely frozen solid. It felt as if I was chipping away at a block of ice. And believe me I'm no rookie to the açaí game I've had plenty of them from plenty of places and this was by far the bottom of the barrel. I'll finish off with the side salad which was a sad excuse for an elementary school free lunch meal. This is my first time coming to Urth Caffe in Laguna Beach location. (I used to go to Santa Monica location a lot). The parking is one of the big issues at this location, but luckily I found a street meter parking. I got there around 7:20am, but outdoor seatings were almost full and there were a quite long line to order. I ordered my favorite Spanish Latte, ham & cheese croissant, and a chocolate hazelnuts chocolate cake to go. It took me about 10 minutes to get my latte and 15 minutes to order. Food was great. Ordered online and picked up at the store. The menu online was not updated since my original order of waffles and mushroom soup were no longer offered. The staff was friendly and updated my order with pancakes and a quiche. There was a long long outside to order food. Outdoor seating was available. I stayed in the long time for about 15 mins once I realized that there was a separate line for online orders. Urth was our brunch destination on Tuesday. The line wasn't too long when we showed up, but by the time we were seated it was out the door and around the block a bit. The salmon over poached eggs was fresh and delicious and the cantaloupe on the side tasted as if it was picked off a fruit stand that morning. We split a whole grain waffle, which was frankly one of the best I've ever had. My only complaint would be the lack of indoor seating at this location. This was my second time at Urth. The first time, I happened upon it by accident: I was trying to go to the garden cafe next door, but they were closed. I saw a sign outside Urth Caffe for half off coffee and drinks from 3-6, and that lured me in. The iced coffee did not disappoint, but be forewarned: it is very strong! Today when I went in, I ordered the Farmer's market salad. I grabbed a table and waited. And waited. About 25 minutes later, my rumbling stomach urged me to ask what was taking so long. The girl who took my order went to check on it and assured me it would be right out. Sure enough, it finally arrived. My server offered me a free drink or dessert, so I took him up on it and ordered the fruit tart. While the salad left a bit to be desired, (too acidic and too much dressing) the fruit and nut bread and the tart made up for it. I probably won't come here again because the food is overpriced and the service was too slow, but good coffee and dessert. Would recommend taking the order to-go. read more

This place disappointed me. After hearing mixed reviews about Urth, I decided to finally try it for myself. Came for a Sunday brunch and saw the long line outside. They split the line so the queue inside is separated from the people waiting outside to ensure that the walkway is clear. The only bad thing about this is that a lot of people try to cut the line by going inside first as they have 2 entrances/exits to the cafe. The wait is quite long for the number of people there because service is VERY slow. So don't come here if you're in a rush to get anywhere else. But this gives you time to read and decide what you want from their extensive menu. There are two menus, one for breakfast and one for lunch. Once you get to the inside queue, you will see that many people are still deciding what they want at the cashier which adds to the length of the wait for everyone. The employees are constantly distracted and will take a long time before taking your order. While waiting by the pastries, I noticed that there were several flies flying around in the fridge. Unfortunately my party had already ordered 3 different cakes to try along with our meal. After discovering that they ran out of poached eggs for the day, I ordered the wild mushroom pizza and the blended earl grey boba after seeing good reviews for it and looked for a spot outside to settle down after the line ordeal. Many of the spots were already taken so I chose one of the only tables open under a tree. My only comment about the tables is WHY IS IT A CIRCLE WITH HOLES IN IT?! You can literally see the grime of food leftovers stuck in the crevices of the outdoor tables. Also for an aesthetic/instagram popular cafe, I expected something cleaner and well thought out. The drinks came out quickly and the earl grey boba was quite sweet. The matcha boba tastes similar to the Starbucks matcha latte and the organic rising sun had too many flavors in it for my liking. My pizza came out in a matter of minutes and right away I knew that my pizza was not freshly baked. The pizza was cold and the crust was too hard and crunchy. Mushrooms were good but I've had better mushroom pizza before. Would I order it again for $16? No. The cakes that I tried were the matcha flourless cake, earl grey tiramisu, and the vegan chocolate cake. They were okay but again not worth the price point of $7-$9 each. Their portions are not small and will definitely fill you up but their offerings are definitely not healthy! If you wait in the bathroom line, you will see the amount of sugar they put in the drinks that will leave you wondering why so many people get the drinks thinking that it's good for you. ALSO, THEY ONLY HAVE 2 BATHROOMS IN THE CAFE. Finally, the last reason why this cafe deserves a 1/5 is because the environment is just straight up dirty. There flies everywhere and will fly into your food for sure. Maybe it was a slightly windy day but the leaves and flowers from the trees/plants constantly fell onto my food. All I wanted to do by the time I finished half my meal was to get up and leave without finishing the underwhelming meal. Ah! I'm so lucky the OC finally has an Urth Caffe. The most quaint homey type of atmosphere with delicious food and drinks to go along. The line appears to be super long but it actually goes by pretty quick. It's the parking and the table and chairs that seem to be the most frustrating part about getting here. I personally prefer the drinks here versus the food, but everything is still delicious. It's an amazing place to sip a yummy beverage of choice in an environment of beach slash cottage slash home-away-from-home. Signature banana pancakes are scrum-diddly along with a chai tea latte. Our drinks(iced Spanish latte, hot tea and cafe mocha granita) took 45 minutes. They(servers and the prep person) weren't one bit apologetic about our drinks. We went up to the counter three times and reminded the servers three times. The last time I went up to the counter the food prep person almost yelled at me that our drinks were being finished.
