Very rude manager/boss (whoever he is)with no manners how to treat his employees nor the customers. He yelled at one of his employees in front of our table using very insulting and offensive language. Second, not a kid friendly place at all. One of my children dropped her water bottle accidentally and the manager assumed she dropped their mini table lamp and screamed at the waiter to grab the mini light from the table immediately! Seriously?!??? What type of business are you running? It was her water bottle and even it was your restaurant accessories accidents do happen! He definitely made all of us very uncomfortable during the dinner and ruined our evening. Third the food is mediocre at best, not worth it! read more

Everything was awesome. We ordered chicken skewers, Urfa Kebab and Beyti. All were very delicious. The location is very convenient and if you come here on a Thursday night, you can watch the village bazaar out of the way window. The best part was the service. The owner, waitress and buster were all very kind and helpful. I highly recommend this place for those who want to enjoy a mouth watering dish and a welcoming ambiance! read more

Wow, this place is truly a gem. The food is really delicious. Shared a sampler for appetizer and absolutely loved the falafel. Wasn't sure what all the item were but everything was yummy. Probably least enjoyed was the rib on the sampler (lacked a bit of flavoring). Chicken shish kebab was tender and loved the pilaf (didn't care for the bulgur as much). Friend had the special crab cakes with shrimp -- the crab cake was rather small but she said the shrimp was delicious. Went there for dinner tonight with some friends and enjoyed the whole experience. The bread was warm and delicious and with the olive oil dip had sliced marinated olives in there. So good we requested a second basket. I ordered the blackened red snapper meal and wow! One of the best fish dishes I've had. So well seasoned and a very generous amount. I definitely wanted another serving because it was so good. For dessert I initially wanted the salted caramel chocolate cake with vanilla bean gelato, but ended up going with the Kunefe which is shredded phyllo dough over mozzarella cheese with lemon honey and pistachios. I am SO GLAD I did because it was wonderful. The shredded phyllo dough over the melted mozzarella was such a lovely, unexpected pairing, and the honey on top of that elevated the entire dessert. I came here for a work dinner. This place is definitely a bit pricey (but it's in Los Altos, so what do you expect). Complementary bread and olive oil was great! The grilled octopus was tasty and well-prepared, but the portion was tiny for the price. I ordered the seafood combo and while it was cooked well, the yellow sauce was just not to my taste. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant has a lovely, classy ambience. Service was cordial and excellent. Warm foccacia-like bread served with dipping oil before the meal. The food was beautifully presented, wonderfully cooked, and delicately seasoned! And I love how the dishes had so many components. However, it hurts me to say the flavors fell short of my expectations, especially for the prices ($20-30). Maybe my palate is just unrefined and not accustomed to "fine" Meditteranean but compared to my favorites, Falafel Stop in sunnyvale and Yiassoo in Cupertino, I just couldn't see that the food was worth the price. I still completely enjoyed my meal here!!! Beautiful authentic restaurant .I absolutely loved food there and I'm very picky and not easily satisfied. Had Greek salad , Urfa and chicken kebabs, eggplant appetizer, Turkish coffee and baklava. Everything was very delicious and service was excellent! My 5 years old daughter was treated Ike a princess. All the waiters were very polite. Urfa's food is delicious! Their daily specials are always worth trying, but I especially love the chicken shish (kabob) plate, with the grilled pepper and grilled tomato. The tzatziki is better than any other tzatziki I've tasted. No matter what you order, it's just cooked nicely and very tasty. Even if I get food to take home, it still tastes fabulous even after the delay to get home. The people who own and manage the restaurant pay a lot of attention, and it shows. Everyone is very friendly and service is always excellent. Urfa has nice outdoor seating, which is great in warm weather. Inside, it's quiet, friendly and pleasant. read more

But the place is full of waiters who madly dash about, and have mastered the classic technique of... "If I don't look at you, I don't have to help you." The "catch the waiter's eye" phenomenon. First of all, let me just say if there is zero or negative star for this restaurant, I would give this for their service. I walked in at 5:30 for dinner, ordered, and food took a while to come at 6:00pm. At 6:10pm, I finished my appetizer and the manager(?) came and told me to leave in 20 mins because someone booked the table. At that point, the rest of the food has not come yet. And there were also a lot of empty tables at the restaurant. See pictures attached. I told him that doesn't make sense because you have many tables, and that he should have let me know when I came in. He gave me a temper. I didn't wanna argue with him so I just asked him to give me the cheque, and cancelled the rest of the food. I took some pictures of the restaurant becase i just wanted to prove how empty it was when he asked me to leave for my review. He took away my food immediately, and said I cannot take pictures. I cannot believe he works in a restaurant. I feel sorry for the restaurant if this is the manager, because if the manager is like that, you can imagine the rest. There are easy solutions he could have done but he did none of that 1.) apologize for not telling me in advance 2.) offer to move me to another empty table Instead, he asked me to leave when the remaining food hasn't even came yet. Since the restaurant changed ownership in mid 2024, we can no longer recommend this restaurant. This used to be our favorite Los Altos restaurant: great food at reasonable price with great service. Definitely the place to eat! Urfa Bistro is tucked away on state street and is an antidote to home cooked meals. If you want food that tastes authentic and if you want to feel like you're in a bistro in Istanbul, you should come here!! Service is quick and friendly- thanks Mr Zubi! He's very personable and checks in with you several times even though this was just a quick lunch. We had the chicken kabob plate and the urfa kabob plate. Both plates came with a grilled tomato topped with picked onions and sumac, two types of rice- one mixed with toasted pine nuts, side salad with bright fuchsia pink picked turnips. The outside tables are set up with trees and plexiglass so you are totally safe social distancing. Because you're in a side street, noise is not bothersome. We are sooooo coming back! read more

Ate Urfa for the first time, on a Wednesday night. The place was pretty quiet, which was nice for us because it was easy to talk. Our friends, who eat there more often, said it's usually more crowded at lunch. I noticed they had noise-absorbing foam on the ceiling. The food was excellent (though not inexpensive). I had what's listed as spicy paella, but at my request they made it non-spicy. For dessert I tried the homemade kunefe and liked it very much. My companions had the paella, the branzino, and the salmon, and I think everyone likes what they got. The service was also excellent from all staff, but I want to note that our server, Lupe, was perhaps the best server I have ever encountered. She was exactly the right amount of friendly, attentive, and responsive. Each of us had at least one special request for their dish, and Lupe did it all accurately and cheerfully, without making it seem like it was any burden. Came here for dinner pretty randomly after browsing the art festival in Los Altos in July. I got the meatball dishes that was flavorful and appealing in visuals. I actually was going to the place across the street but ended up here.... so glad! I got to sit outside with puppy Carlos and had a delicious meal. I just couldn't decide so I got the hot appetizer plate with a wonderful assortment of their delicacies and I loved it. A lot of food, but most importantly very, very tasty. I loved everything, but particularly the lamb pieces. Amazing customer service. Everyone is so very helpful and patient. Lupe shared Different suggestions with me in great detail.
