    Strawberry mint lime cake
    Maddee M.

We tried this place since it's become an Italian restaurant and the food was incredible! The squid ink seafood pasta was so tasty, i think they make their own pasta because it was an unusual shape and size, but perfectly al dente. The lasagna has a delicious sauce and blend of meats. The cake at the end was so good - i could drink that green sauce. I think it was a minty lime. We will definitely be back and look forward to the restaurant's development! A hidden gem

Tiramisu was very nice, light, not too sweet.

Garlic shrimp appetizer was well cooked, shrimp had the snap. A bit lemony never the less good. My husband had the chicken Milanese was large, he ate the everything on the plate. This place is Italian, just opened, the building use to be a Mexican restaurant so the atmosphere is confusing. The food is reasonably priced and tasty. We were looking for a low key place for a quick unpretentious meal. Service was good, food came out quickly.

Although the service was just fine, the food was very disappointing. The restaurant was very noisy and loud.

It is now Il Portal. Italian. The same great service, with a new Italian chef. You can still get a margarita here! The menu looks amazing.

It's very spacious with modern decor inside; service was always friendly. While their happy hour menu wasn't very extensive, everything we had tried had been solid, and their cocktails were delicious and never watered down; pricing was very reasonable, but they did have a 3% surcharge. This time we ordered the Sorrento King and Tiki Taormina cocktails and 3 food items. My husband liked his whiskey with the smoky flavor; my cocktail was fruity and refreshing, just a little on the sweeter side. The calamari was lightly battered and not oily, it's very flavorful with or without the spicy marinara sauce. I liked that they included a lot of tentacle pieces. While I missed their roasted cauliflower, which was no longer on the menu, their braised artichoke was surprisingly good. It was soaked in a yummy garlicky olive oil, perfect for dipping the crostini in. It took a bit of work to get to the artichoke heart, but it was well worth it. The center was so soft and tasted heavenly. I liked the Pizza Fradiavola's thin crust, and it had just the right amount of spiciness with the peperoncino. The complimentary vanilla gelato with raspberry sauce and birthday candle was a really nice touch. We also claimed the tiramisu birthday reward we received via email. Both were very satisfying. Until next time.

The carbonara was amazing--served super hot with great flavor and a solid amount of meat. Easily a 10/10. One tip though: eat it while it's hot, because once it cools down, it's not quite the same. The seafood pasta was also a standout. Everything tasted fresh, the flavors were on point, and it felt surprisingly light for a pasta dish. You know how pasta can sometimes feel heavy? This didn't have that at all. Another 10/10. The pesto pasta (a special that day) was just okay for me. It leaned a bit too oily, and the pesto flavor didn't really come through. They added ricotta, which kind of overpowered everything else. I did like the portion and the amount of meat, but overall I'd give it a 7/10. The ambiance was decent--nothing too special, but clean and comfortable. Service was excellent. It felt like a family-run place--three brothers along with their wives and kids--and everyone was super friendly and welcoming. They gave great recommendations and even helped accommodate my mom by seating us closer to the bathroom, which I really appreciated. Just a heads up: it's in downtown Los Gatos, so parking can be a bit tricky since there's no private lot. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place. The portions and quality justify the price, and it stands out as one of the better Italian spots in the Bay Area.

Luckily when we went around 3/4 it wasn't too crowded. Complimentary bread ~ I thought it was good and light! Appetizers: Calamari - 3/5 the batter was light which I liked but I wished it had more seasoning. It felt on the more bland side. Pasta: I got the Saliccia e funghi, it was light and flavorful. I like the pasta noodle and the combination - which had chicken, mushrooms. I don't go out of my way for Italian food but I'm so glad I found this place! Definitely will be back to try different dishes.

Amelia made everything super easy from the start: she sent a menu survey ahead of time, was really accommodating with a time and headcount change, and was overall just great to work with. The dinner itself was amazing. The space feels semi-private (tucked behind the pasta case), which made it perfect for our group of 9. The table itself was gorgeously set with candles, flowers, and all the little details that made it feel really special. They even customized the menus to say "Happy Birthday Taylor," which was such a fun touch. The food was incredible, and there was SO much of it, no one left hungry. The wine was flowing, the vibes were perfect, and our servers were great. It felt special without being stuffy at all. They also sent us home with fresh pasta, which was the cherry on top. Everyone had the best time, and I would 100% do this again. Heads up, this is only available at the Mission location. I literally live one block from the Clement location, but this was SOOO worth the trip.

Service was outstanding, and pacing was perfect. We started with a salad and the cheesy bread (amazing!), and then tried two pasta dishes - the kabocha squash pillows, and pasta with vodka sauce. Both were delicious and well prepared. We finished with an incredible panna cotta that was finished with caramel and cacao nibs. Everyone loved it! Would definitely go beach here!

The salad and the pasta were excellent as I expected, though the pasta portion size was truly very small - maybe that's just because of the special we ordered? I feel like portions were bigger at the restaurant though, but maybe that's just my memory. Still a cute hip dinner option. Hamnet was a bit torturous.
