It was fairly simple but just the right combo of grilled onions, provolone, quality beef, a taste of mayo - very nice. The cucumber and black pea salad was more interesting in name than flavor. Not bad but nothing special. Had an Old Fashioned for lunch - which is a standard - but the brandied cherries made it nicer than standard. The menu offered a number of other intriguing options. Fantastic place to visit for a couple drinks after work or a meal with your wife and/or friends. My wife and I came here because it just happened to be right down the street from the hotel we were staying at during our visit to Chattanooga, and we loved it. It has a great bar with anything you'd like to drink, and a great friendly waitstaff. We came just after the evening rush and there were still several bartenders working. They were all very nice and offered us many great recommendations on food and drinks. We had already had a bite to eat before we got there, but still appreciated the advice. The hostess who greeted me was very pleasant and led me to the bar where I picked up my order. Dalton, the bartender, was very pleasant and served me quickly and efficiently. I would say this place was pretty average. We got the pimento appetizer, which to our surprise was heated to be more like a nacho cheese. The French onion soup however was delicious. But we were extremely let down by the quality of the burgers we were served. The meat on the Ruben was low quality, but the major problem was the beyond burger. First, the bun tasted like it came out of a grocery store pack, not even toasted. The patty had to be sent back because it was not cooked through, and when it came back it was not seasoned at all. Best. Burger. Bun. I've. Ever. Had. And. I've. Baked. My. Own. Buns. The best thing about Urban Stack is that their food is made using produce and meat from local farmers and ranchers. They have a full bar with a fine, smaller-yet-varied beer selection. They offer delicious food at reasonable prices including quality salad options and fresh vegetable sides. The bun was so light, fluffy and tasty. Burgers are offered up medium (pink) or medium-well (no pink). Sharing a burger with mom, we ended up with no pink. I'm confident that ordering a burger medium would have been quiet tasty. As expected with a medium-well burger (perhaps more on the well-done side), it was a wee bit dry. The creative burger options are endless. We ended up with the farmhouse burger equipped with celery mayo (WHAT?!), sun-dried tomato relish, white cheddar, and lettuce. The condiments were very well balanced and fresh. The burger even came with house made pickles. While the pickles were tasty, there was a bit too much anise in the pickling mix for my taste. I'm not a huge fan of licorice flavors unless it's fresh fennel. I ordered the farmhouse salad to get in my fruits and veggies while spending a week on the road. While the salad accomplished my goal, there was room for improvement. They make their own dressings, I tried the strawberry balsamic and the roasted red pepper vinaigrette. The red pepper was awesome but not quite the right flavors to complement the salad. The strawberry balsamic needs something to mellow out the tanginess and sweetness of the fruit. Maybe some salt? I had the Veggie Mushroom sandwich. It fell apart from first pickup. The mushroom patty was mushy and I didn't care much for the taste. Next time im trying a beef patty if I come through again. I had a side of sweet Potatoe frys. Those were good and cooked just right. I tried the spicy Chipotle ketchup and it did add a nice flavor to the frys. I went here last night and we shared the hot pimento cheese dip and got two separate burgers. This was plenty to fill us up even though the sides and fries looked so very tempting. First off, you should definitely get the hot pimento cheese. This stuff is spicy, cheesy, yumminess and you can't help but eat your weight in it if you order it. It's crack in pimento cheesy, house potato chippy form. Do it. I had the Bison Burger special they have for November. It was delicious. It was a bison burger with wine-marinated onions, a garlic aioli, bacon, and cheddar cheese. This thing was SO good! GF had a turkey burger that she was NOT happy with, though. I ordered the Strauss, a turkey burger with a fried egg, avocado, and a cheese (I forget which!). I love a friend egg on burgers but usually there is only one or two on a menu and they're always beef, so this was a refreshing option to have - and it tasted great. I also tried the spicy chicken sandwich and while it was no Shake Shack burger, it was a close second. This is an amazingly strong concept restaurant that appears to be doing everything right. They know what they're good at, designed a beautiful, industrial chic space, and the service and vibe are authentically solid. The whiskey selection is truly incredible and tweny taps of mostly local brews was great to see. I love pickled veg and have had them all over the country, and these rank right up there (she was correct in saying that the locals will put them on almost any of there many burger selections along with near-perfect chipotle ketchup). I've certainly had better burgers, but I enjoyed the Sunny Day burger, and the "pink" or "not pink" idea is well executed and works well (pink in case you're wondering). Upon my first visit to Chattanooga I spent some time looking for a great place to eat. Urban Stack kept coming up in search results so I decided to give it a go and take the family. For appetizer, I ordered the urban nachos (House cut potato chips topped with 3 Little Piggies Chili, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, black olives, jalapenos, green onion and sour cream.) I got the chili on the side and I'm glad I did because it was received with mixed reviews. The kettle chips just couldn't hold up with the toppings and became soggy quickly in my experience. 3/5 I ordered several burgers for dinner to try: The Farm Burger (100% grass fed beef, sun-dried tomato relish, Cumberland cheese, celery mayo and lettuce.) Originally, I wanted to get grass fed patties on other burgers but the upcharge was $4 per patty, which I felt was unreasonable on $10 burgers. So I tried this as is. It was mild and not very flavorful. There was very little mayo or relish. I asked for more relish and the waiter took so long to bring it, my food was already eaten. (A trend with service I learned.) 2/5 Bacon Cheeseburger. There apparently isn't an actual bacon strips, beef patty cheeseburger available even though we weren't told this upon ordering. We did tell them it was our first visit, so it would have been helpful to warn us that we were actually getting the Gourmet Bacon Cheeseburger (American Kobe-style Wagyu beer, bacon-onion compote, lettuce and gruyere & blue cheese.) I ordered this for someone who doesn't like onions so the surprise of trying to pick off a pile of unions with small bacon crumbles attached to the melted cheese wasn't a good surprise. The flavor was onion heavy and not at all what was expected. When we asked about it, a server, not ours, said it didn't look right and was going to take it back, but our server intercepted them, talked then bright us back our burger as is, explaining it is correct. They didn't try to make it the way we wanted it or substitute it. I felt that was poor service. 1/5. The Dirty Bird (Spicy fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, sharp yellow cheddar cheese, served with a side of honey hot sauce.) This is an example of why there isn't something called "Chattanooga Hot Chicken" - it just isn't great. Not bad, but not great. Basic. 3/5 Each of the burgers were about $10 and fries/sided are another $5 plus drinks. So we are talking about $20 per person (tax and tip). For the food at that price I would NOT recommend this restaurant. It was ok food, but not great at all. But service was a huge pain in my experience and the final straw. The issue with the bacon burger was surprisingly unresolved. And while the server was very personable he was rarely there. I waited for about 45 minutes for my table and then was at the restaurant waiting for refills, mayo, and so on for significantly more time. It was a lot of waiting. Too much. I waited for over 10 minutes as my waiter walked past us a couple rows up several times and never came by when I was ready to pay, smiling at him, even - I think - making eye contact that wad ignored. I had really high hopes for this place. Everyone I've talked to loves it, but it didn't really do much for me. I think my burger may have been prepared incorrectly. I ordered the Strauss burger, which had ground turkey, bacon, a fried egg, avocado, and tomato...all things I love, so I was pretty excited. However, when the burger came, it tasted off. Almost Greek. Which definitely didn't combine well with the other pieces of the flavor profile. They have a greek lamb burger, so it's possible they were swapped. Our waitress kept trying to up sell us with everything we ordered, which I understand, but when we politely declined, she was visibly annoyed. Furthermore, it was so loud. There were a few rowdy groups around us, but we could barely hear each other, much less our waitress. The only redeeming quality for me was our appetizer, the pimento cheese dip with hand cut potato chips. Which was delicious and earned this place 3 stars over 2. Most of the things were probably circumstantial and not representative of the restaurant as a whole (my boyfriend loved his bison burger), but I'll be hesitant to come back on a Friday night. read more

I visited this place for the first time on St. Patrick's day with my husband. We both thoroughly enjoyed our burgers and fries. It was clear from the taste that both the hamburger patties and the fries were fresh, homemade and not frozen. The French fries tastes just like my mom's hand cut fries from when I was a kid. They have that lovely dark caramel color that you get when all the starch hasn't been soaked out or frozen. We may not have picked the best day to visit as there were LOTS of loud drunk people there. Though we know it was the holiday and not the place's fault. Our order came out all mixed up and we had already been waiting for quiet some time so we opted to switch things around and wipe off the patties instead of sending them back. The waitress was very kind and offered to fix it but she was super busy and not around for most of our visit. We lucked up and got great parking right out front. At times I can imagine that parking may be limited and as far as I could tell paying to park was the only option. I would definitely try this place again. read more

We stopped by shortly after they were open (11AM) and were instantly seated. I ordered the Asian Q which was an American Kobe style Wagyu beef with wasabi slaw, cucumber kimchee and an amazing Asian ginger BBQ sauce. I thought it was one of the best flavor profiles Ive ever had on a burger. And I absolutely loved that they cooked it medium rare like I asked. It was perfectly pink. We came into Urban Stack over Labor Day weekend. We saw the rave reviews and thought it'd be worth a try. I'm so glad we did! The atmosphere and decor are very "southern hip" and approachable. The service was quick and friendly and we were seated right away. I ordered the Big Cheese with their housemade pimento cheese, and it was probably the best burger I've ever had. I just couldn't put it down! The onion rings were great, too. Overall, my meal was ridiculously delicious. My sister-in-law and I split a s'mores shake to go, and they were kind enough to put it into two cups for us. It was really tasty! I believe the ice cream was from a local creamery -- I love how they are committed to serving and promoting other local businesses.
