Really deserves a 4.5. Went earlish on a Saturday with no reservations. Got seated promptly. Started off with some cocktails. Both very good. Got the rice balls. Very flavorful. Would get again. The menu has something for everyone. Pasta dishes, burgers , pizzas, streaks. We wanted more casual food so decided on the chicken sandwich and the salami pizza. Both were good. Pizza was a little floppy but I assume brick oven which often happens. The place is very nice inside. The menu is almost not as fancy as the inside, but we loved having different options. The food and service is good. Cocktails have many interesting options but more on the pricey side. The truffle pizza is most delicious. Chipotle chicken sandwich was okay. Fries that came with the sandwich were most disappointing (uncooked and almost the same even after they were replaced). Donuts with coffee sauce are the best! Chocolate cake was okay. Stopped by for dinner last Saturday. Heard of uproot but never been there and it's 45 mins from home. Thought we'd go for a scenic drive to Warren. Nice restaurant w great ambiance in a shopping plaza. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. We started w the Balthazar bread and Asian mango salad. Never tried the famous NYC Balthazar bread. Was ok. Nothing to brag about. The Asian mango salad was v good n flavorful . Had generous amount of mango n avocado and had a crunch to it. Generous portion to share. For entrees we had the Caesar salad. Fried Brussels n the branzino special. They were all so delicious. Branzino was pan fried n perfect w beans in a tomato sauce. Delicious. The Brussels were crisp n crunchy n had a nice glaze. I've never been here before, tonight was my first time. When I entered the facility, I asked if we could be seated at one of the high tops and was told no. Per the hostess, our reserved table was a low top. I was kind of surprised because the place was pretty empty. We ended up getting seated at a table that was literally right on top of the only other people that were in the restaurant . It was honestly pretty awkward, so we were just going to go sit at the bar because we were sitting so close to the other table and then she put us at a high top. I had said I thought we couldn't sit at a high top, and clearly that was miscommunication. We ordered a round of drinks which were fine. We started with the caprese appetizer, which was more of a ball of mozzarella with some rabbit food type lettuce, barely any tomatoes, and only one small piece of crostini. That was a really big letdown. The girl who kept bringing over food was obviously inexperienced, not a problem that's fine, but her inexperience kind of came across as not caring and rude. Our server was nice, and had a good attitude. We kept asking for us recommendations because we had never been here before, but unfortunately, we weren't in love with what we got. My friend got the duck which she said wasn't great because it was quite fatty. We also ordered the brownie, which we took two bites of and stopped eating because it tasted very undercooked. For a pricier establishment, this missed the mark for us. The ambience is pretty cool with the great tree when you enter and I like the vibe at the bar. I don't understand the sectioning off of the restaurant. You're made to feel as if you're walking in an almost restricted section to go to the bathroom. They should adjust the divider to make it an easier to navigate walkway. The bathrooms are soo dark and the mirror placement is weird. Two separate mirrors that are small that don't connect in the exact position you would want to view yourself in. Considering I drove over an hour to get here, I have to say I'm let down. read more

Came on a Thurs night and it was packed! Recommend reservations, especially in this post-COVID renaissance. Staff was friendly but seemed overwhelmed once the place became busy. Plenty of space for seating and they have a nice bar area as well with high tops. 1. Ricotta Shakshuka - Heavier than it seems! Recommend splitting this one with as many people as possible. Light shakshuka which was not overbearing. 2. Buffalo cauliflower - Good but salty. I thought it needed a bit more cheese but good mix of flavors. 3. Mushroom fricassee - Truffle flavored sauce which was a good mix with onions and potato. 4. Fennel and sausage pizza - Delicious mix of flavors with the cheese and saltiness of the sausage. 5. JMM burger - Tasty with the cheese and burned flavor of the burger 6. Filet mignon - Very tender, juicy and meaty flavor. Very good quality. Overall, I was impressed especially with the appetizers. Cool place, nice vibe, very cool bar. Food was meh. The pappardelle with shrimp was not good. I expected a crushed tomato sauce but it was a bowl full of oil. It was inedible. My husband got the pork chop and he liked that. So I guess stay away from the pasta. Expensive considering only one of us ate our meal. read more

Loved this place! Went Sat night for my cousins bday and we enjoyed every bit of it! Service was so good our waiter was extremely attentive and super nice wish I would remember his name. Food did not disappoint at all! We had the buffalo cauliflower, shrimp and avocado, and the tinga wontons for apps....soooo good all of it. Been going to Uproot for years. The food never disappoints. I don't think I've had a bad experience and we've gone almost every Friday for 7 years now! The truffle fries are to die for and so are the burgers and poke bowls. There is a ton of variety on the menu as well. Gluten free options are pretty good also! The buffalo cauliflower is AMAZING. I rented out the restaurant for a graduation party and service was absolutely amazing- per usual. Love this spot for drinks and great family meals as well! read more

Wow! I just got home from a vacation and was happy that Uproot was still open for dinner as I had the most delicious duck there tonight. It was one of the specials and the chef and owner, Scott Cutaneo, said that it was amazing and that one of us should have ir. Boy, he wasn't kidding. The duck confit with caramelized Anjou pear, roasted brussel sprouts with black berry demi had the crispiest skin that melted off the bone. Absolutely unbelievable. Scott really knows customer service, too. If you haven't been to Uproot yet, put it on your list. read more

This is my second and last time frequenting this restaurant. The first time I went, and they sat us down, they told us we need to be done in 40 minutes. What type of restaurant says such a thing? The second time I went to this restaurant they indicated that I signed up for a wine special. They said they were going to call me because apparently this is a common error when booking. They did not call me. However, when I got there, they did find a way to accommodate us at a high top table. They were out of the pasta dish that I wanted. The Balthazar bread was seven dollars for four tiny pieces of bread. They said it came in from New York. However, you can get it at Whole Foods around the corner. Bread should be complementary. Buffalo cauliflower was good. We both decided to order a pizza. Unfortunately later in the night we both ended up with terrible stomach aches. The limited edition, cheesesteak pizza was soaked. It had to be cut with a knife because the bread was so wet. Overall, I would not recommend this place. It is never a pleasant experience in the end. They try to set the place up as a posh place but in reality, it is a American pub menu. read more

Dinner for two on a Monday evening, moderate crowd, first time here. Excellent food and good service. Still trying to figure out the vibe here of a nice restaurant with a bar and TV... I typically don't watch ESPN when dropping $160 on dinner, so I drop a star. We shared two apps - aracini and bao buns. Both tasty and recommended. For entrees we had skirt steak special and scallops. Both excellent. Desserts the macaron assortment was very good and the complimentary ice cream for our birthday celebration was appreciated. We were not rushed and had proper time between courses, which most restaurants these days seem to forget about. Worth the trip. Bill total $160 for two cocktails, two apps, two entrees, one dessert. First time, great place. Loved the history behind their concept of decor. I was amazed by the dome. Then we tour the restaurant, we loved the rear dining rooms. It felt very intimate. Definitely a date night spot. We sat at the bar. I ordered a Kentucky kick with Markers Mark. What a got was a master pc. It was Amazing!! Loved every drop!! My daughter got a peach party. She loved it as well. Our bartender was a young lady who was kind enough to explain decor concept. We also was informed of the other two location INC. and Salted Lime. Met up with an old friend who lived in the area for some dinner on a Friday night. We had a reservation and were seated right away....but that goes without saying I guess? We ordered an Eggplant pizza and artichoke dip cuz we simple folk. But the food was not simple at all and had an air of "we ain't nothin' to fux wit" to it. Uproot, what is going on! We consider this our neighborhood gem however our recent experience will be our last for awhile. Service was very good , atmosphere lovely, all of the food was excellent except for the prime rib experience and how we were left feeling. It was sent back 2x first over cooked and 2nd rare. It was ordered medium rare ....you can't tell me that 4 people look at the same piece of beef and say it's medium well or then very rare and you debate it with us. At this point the rest of us are done with our meals and waiting. We nicely said to just cook the last piece more , do not make a new one, but even that was put in a to go container to heat up at home since our son had barely eaten except for an app. No one buys a $58 piece of meat to then be charged for cooking issues and leaves the rest of the family sitting there having already finished their meals. After coercing you to remove it from our bill, which ANY restaurant would have done at this point, you charge us for the fries that came WITH the meal. Such a tacky unprofessional move.....we actually laughed when we saw that. Did I say we come here all of the time ? Even worse to treat your customers as if your cooking issues are our problem. So bad..... first mistake was ours in ordering prime rib from a restaurant that doesn't specialize in beef. However, Seasons makes a perfect prime rib EVERY time....seriously! Bottom line, every restaurant has a bad night ( which I heard the night before was a fiasco as well) but you don't blame it on your customers....you try and keep them! On a side note, if you were so busy trying to run a successful business, you wouldn't have time for your manager and chef to stand outside the restaurant smoking.....looks bad for any business in my book. read more

Have heard about this place for years and was glad to finally be able to go. I know Covid has wreaked havoc with a lot of places along with the shortage of staff so I have no problem with the 90 minute table time limit and recognize service could be uneven. We ordered drinks, salads, and entrees and for the first time that I could ever remember the salads came out before we received our drinks. It was close but still strange but not that big of a deal. What bothered me was that my wedge salad had a very small dollop of blue cheese dressing and I had to ask for more. There was no way that original serving could have been their usual amount. Once the dressing issue was squared away the salad was very good. My wife enjoyed her Caesar. As soon as we finished the salads they came to pick up our plates and immediately placed out main courses in front of us. Normally this would drive me crazy but again I understand Covid has forced changes in serving dishes. What bothered me though was that both my wife's NY Strip and my Ribeye were ordered medium rare but both came out somewhere between rare and raw and had to be sent back. If you are looking to turn tables over quickly I understand but at least get it right. In the rush to get the food out ASAP, they managed to mess up one of the salads and both entrees. Once the steaks were cooked correctly they were fine. We shared a side of mushrooms and they were delicious; possibly the best thing we ate all night. Our server was working very hard and appeared to be stretched across many tables. It's just a shame that things kept coming out wrong but I could tell he was doing his best. We did not leave disappointed but I don't know if a return trip any time soon would be in the offing. read more
