The terrible experience with the service here makes me sad since no matter how great the pizza is, it can't cancel out how customers are treated at the Unregular Pizza in Essex Market. I placed a to-go order and the employee outright threw the bagged slices onto the counter without any word or care. When I asked if it was my order, the employee didn't respond. I tried asking again and instead of saying anything, he made a shooing gesture towards to the bag as if I was unwelcome or a dog. He also refused to provide napkins. The entire interaction was dismissive and unnecessarily rude. There was also an issue with the charge with this same employee. I asked him and he stated paying cash would waive a 3% service fee, but when paying I noticed the price was the same as when I was going to pay with card. I asked to clarify and this employee straight up basically admitted he lied and said the price was same cash or card. I don't mind paying the price for the product, but I do mind being told one thing and then being lied to and deceived. 3% is not a big deal, but lying to every customer who pays cash? And also not caring about company policy and keeping integrity? The issue wasn't simply that the service was unfriendly, but likely treating all customers like this without the restaurant knowing. I live in NYC and know what normal customer service looks like, and I have honestly never experienced this kind of treatment before. I expected better from a business inside Essex Market. I would hope that Unregular Pizza would care about making sure its service represents the quality and reputation of its brand. The pizza is great and delicious, actually. But based on my experience, expect the service to be rude and the policies to be explained in a way that may leave you feeling deceived. I tried the burrata prosciutto pizza slice ($9). I feel like the price is quite expensive. This location is inside the Essex market, near the end of the market. It's a small stall with only one worker and a long line. There's a display of pizza and the worker heats up the slice for you. Since there was only one worker I wonder if they made fresh pies when the slices are sold out. If you only order one slice they don't give you a box which is a bummer. My slice was packaged in a paper bag and by the time I got home it was all smushed and the cheese was rubbed off. But I heated it up in the oven and it was still good. Flavor wise- the sauce is a little bit sour. I really enjoyed the pizza dough - it was very crispy and not too thick. But didn't feel like the slice was anything special and definitely not worth the $9 per slice for me. They also charge a 3% credit card fee. read more

Came here on a pizza crawl. Wasn't immediately obvious to me that this spot was inside of a food court / food market, but it wasn't too bad to navigate. There's limited counter seating at the stall, but plenty of tables upstairs. I came pretty late, so they were out of their Burrapizza Cafonata, but they did have leftover pepperoni slices and offered to put a piece of burrata on top. (I was also given the choice to have a burrata crema instead.) The person at the counter was quite friendly. The pizza was fantastic. Not really a New York slice, but tasty nevertheless. Have been hearing the popularity and many good things about Unregular Pizza on IG lately, so decided to stop by and see what's it really about. Conveniently located inside Essex Market and right next to the F/M/J/Z trains. It's at this booth with a colorful LED sign and a marble counter in the middle of the food hall. Quick service from friendly staff. Unregular Pizza accepts both cash and/or card. Ambiance wise is your typical food vendor quality in the city. But, it somehow still stands out to me because of how hungry I'm becoming, the whiff I'm getting from the delicious pizzas, and the need of something quick to munch on right away! Slices don't look too big at first glance, but then I feel stuffed by the time when I finished chowing down. They're pre-made and staff helps to heat it up for you in the oven after paying. This pizza spot is in a food plaza with a bunch of diverse options so it is in a more packed location. There are only a few seats at the counter but there were no other customers. We got the meat dream size and it was very mediocre. We got our slice warmed up but it was still cold when we bit into it. They were kind enough to reheat it after asked again but the edges got burnt. The pizza itself did not have a crunch and it lacked cheese. I personally wouldn't recommend this pizza spot. read more

Apparently, there's supposed to be some sort of deal where people who patronize Immersive Gaming receive a 20% discount, but the employee or owner acted confused like this was unbeknownst to him. He did offer me a different discount but I had to pay in cash-- I typically never have anything but I had enough to score the two pies. The pies took six minutes, which wasn't so bad. It was reheated in the pizza oven for 1-2 minutes which made the cheese all melty. My favorite slice was the mushroom pizza because mushroom toppings were plentiful and mushroom and cheese are such a good flavor combination. The buffalo chicken had small chunks of chicken cutlet along with a slightly spicy buffalo sauce and cheese. Firstly the mostly offer square slices which is unique given that ny style favors the round slice. Every slice i tried was packed with quality ingredients that you could taste. The dough had a nice bite and pleasant chew. The sauce was a great balance of sweet and tart. I just wish the cheese was more melted across all the slices. More of the Sicilian style, these square slices come with a slightly crunchy crust that contrasts with the melty toppings. We tried the vodka slice, which was full of flavor-- with just a hint of sweet and lots of savory. Didn't even miss the pepperoni! Solid slice :) Was great to try and share as a snack-- grab a slice to curb any hunger pangs but plan to order two for a meal. The mushroom slice was beautifully piled with shrooms, and the burrata slice had a giant pillow of burrata (like as big as a burrata appetizer at a sit down restaurant) perched on it-- pretty! The man working behind the counter offered to give us his remaining 6 slices at a heavy discount, which turned out to be 50% off. While I appreciated the gracious gesture, I was not thrilled with my square slice of cheese pizza. The crust was pleasantly crisp, and the tomato sauce had an ideal hint of sweetness. However, the cheese tasted like plastic; it was bland and needed salt.
