This review is coming straight from a first-time homebuyer who was blessed to purchase an older…read moresemi-renovated single family home. Long story short, we are happy and thankful to have our home but with an older home comes older home issues. This summer's issue occurred when our air conditioner decided to begin its slow death in the middle of Houston-August when the temperature was around 147-degrees if I remember correctly. We tried having friends of friends come over and service the unit, as well as purchase 100plus dollars worth of fans for the house but the Houston-August heat continued to be disrespectful. So we realized that we would need to start the process of trying to locate an AC Company to provide us with a diagnostic and a quote to repair or possible replace our AC Unit. I had NO IDEA that the next week would be so mentally exhausting!! I swear, I have never had so many USED CASH CAR SALESMAN in my presence in such a short amount of time! It was really a disappointing and disheartening experience to have so many people from the bigger "reputable" companies come in and blatantly lie to my face about the amount of work I needed to have done. Let them tell it, I needed to throw the whole house away or at least set up financing to purchase the equivalent of a KIA Soul to fix my AC. I cannot stand disingenuous people and I felt like that was all I was coming in contact with. Just when I was about to give in and pick one of these Janky Salesmen's companies, I decided to do a little more home work and call a few more people. That is when I came across Air of Houston. I called them and they set a date and time when they were supposed to come and they ACTUALLY came at that time and date (take notes ARS)! Mr. David showed up personally to come and access the situation, and I exaggerate you not... he was THE ONLY person to tell me about my warranties on my current equipment. He took the time to explain the options to my wife and I as well as provide a VERY reasonable quote compared to the other folks who let flies in my house going in and out the front door before selling me a dream. Mr. David shot straight from the hip, and provided an old school "hand shake and eye contact" feeling you don't find with bigger companies who send their salesmen to your home to practice their script. He didn't, "call his manager to see if they could go down on the price" like the others did... All he did was come in and tell me what he found to be the problem, explain what he believed to be the best rout to take in order to fix it, and follow through with the agreement by providing prompt and professional service! I can't say enough about how much I appreciated my experience with Air of Houston and Mr. David. I just wish I had made the call sooner so I could have saved myself the headache and a few flies in the house. I would recommend Air of Houston to anyone looking to have his or her AC repaired or replaced. Now if you'll excuse me as I go back to enjoying this 71-degrees in my upstairs bedroom... Hope this helps!!

When my A/C stopped working I immediately knew by the sound it was making all it needed was a new capacitor. As a retired Certified Manufacturing Engineer (robotics) I know this to be a simple matter of unplugging the old component and plugging in a replacement. Checked online with Grainger, capacitors start at $60 retail. My regular A/C guy was booked for days. A friend suggested these people. I called and told them what was needed. They said it would be $99. The technician showed up and had the unit working in about ten minutes, since he didn't have to figure out what was wrong. He then billed me nearly $500 for something almost as easy as changing out a light bulb. When I was younger I would have done a simple task like this myself, but now Doctors recommend seniors stay out of the excessive heat. I just didn't expect to be taken advantage of. I have been waiting more than a month now for Michelle Winchester to get back to me with the promise of some resolution.

This review reflects my personal experience and understanding as an AHS customer, based on…read moredocumented service records and publicly available information, to the best of my knowledge. We used Texas American Air LLC through AHS on June 12, 2025, and unfortunately had a disappointing experience. The technician mentioned our AC might have a Freon leak but couldn't confirm it, then added 3 lbs of R-410A at $165 per pound. Even after a $10-per-pound discount, we still paid $465 for the refill. A month later, we submitted another service request through AHS, and they sent a different vendor (we have absolutely no choice in which vendor is assigned). That technician confirmed there was no leak and the actual issue was a failed AC damper. For reference, R-410A typically costs around $60 per pound -- much less than what we were charged -- not to mention the fact that low Freon wasn't even our issue in the first place. After raising our concerns, Texas American Air responded with a message stating: "Having another company tell you their cost of Freon is only $60 is outrageous and unheard of. A can of Freon at AutoZone, for your car, costs $50 per can. We inserted 3 lbs of Freon. You paid $465 for a repair for your broken AC, which is a reasonable price." However, R-410A cannot be purchased at AutoZone, as it is an EPA-regulated refrigerant that requires a licensed technician. Comparing it to automotive Freon is inaccurate. Industry-standard pricing for R-410A is typically between $50-$90 per pound installed, meaning we were charged well above normal market rates. All details mentioned are based on our invoice, AHS documentation, and follow-up service records. The pricing felt excessive and the initial diagnosis inaccurate. I'd recommend confirming all costs in advance or requesting multiple estimates through AHS before approving any work. I hope sharing our experience helps other homeowners make informed decisions when using AHS service providers.
