The options at this grocery store is overwhelming but it's kind of a treat also. There is lots of merchandise that you can't get at any run of the mill grocery store. This grocery store is mainly tuned into Asian shoppers and so you get a lot of merchandise that you don't see in just any everyday place. I heard coming here you can get all kinds of different flavors of Kit Kats and indeed I did find a lot of different ones. I purchased a flavor though that I haven't tried before which made it fun. It was a dark chocolate Kit Kat. But what I unexpectedly found was different Pocky flavors also. The sweet tasting pretzel stick I have had plenty of times with chocolate and strawberry flavors but I found one with fruit (mango) chunks that was a part of the flavor. It was good! Perhaps not my favorite but I'm glad I got to try something new! In addition to that there is something similar to Pocky called Pretz. This is a more savory version of Pocky. I found a toasted sugar flavor which I never came across before and that was good too! So it definitely was a hit coming back again. In addition to the grocery store itself at this location there is a connecting bookstore and a food court. So you could definitely spend a considerable amount of time here! I enjoy the bookstore but haven't tried the food court so that will be yet another visit for another time.

While checking out, I used two paper bags and was confronted by an employee who essentially forced me to add the bag charges to my bill. While I understand there is a Washington state bag law, the employee's approach felt completely aggressive and unnecessary for a 24-cent issue. Metropolitan Market already charges premium prices, and being policed over paper bags at a self-checkout is an incredibly uninviting customer experience. I will definitely think twice before coming back to this location.

It's always stocked, super easy to navigate, and the staff are always ridiculously helpful and friendly. Thats the secret sauce. Even with they're busy, the employees never change their attitude. Always super kind, approachable, and make you feel welcome instead of like a burden. *Cough Qfc, Cough* There are two places that just do not know how to disappoint. Trader Joes and Costco. They got the formula locked in folks. The BEST products, CHEAP prices, GREAT energy, and people who just seem to CARE. 5 Stars, every time.

The new version has hunter green straps. I was hoping that this Capitol Hill location would have it... I didn't see a parking lot. I circled the block about three times and decided to park on the street around the corner. A clerk inside the store said they have a parking garage - enter from 17th ... UHG! I'll look next time. Since we don't have Trader Joe's in Hawaii, I like to bring snacks home, but I focused this time on those canvas bags and even got some mini canvas bags and the olive green insulated totes! I also looked at the greeting cards, fresh flowers, and new items. Thanks for the convenient restroom and friendly employees! We were able to find Joey, the mascot, and received stickers and lollipops as our reward! This was a fun shopping experience!

They're union, they're extremely helpful (I've had off-duty people help me find things, I mean COME ON this is nuts), and the selection is unparalleled. Finally used the grocery pickup option as we're shielding so we can see an Immunocompromised friend, and I'll never use another. Not only is the quality of the produce better, but our shopper made sure that we received a much-needed substitution treat when our original choice was out. Not usually one for treats, but now more than ever, some cookies and kindness go a really long way (shoutout to Ali you're aces).

On this visit, I got one of those viral canvas tote bags... they're so popular overseas and are selling for around $40 when the original price is just $4.99, plus tax! The limit for the new green handled tote bag is 4 per customer. I also got some mini totes in the original colors of red, yellow, navy, and green handles. They're just $3.99, plus tax. The limit is 2 of each color. As usual, I looked at freshly cut flowers, greeting cards, and snacks. Everything is reasonably priced and the employees are very friendly and helpful!
