I have never in my life been treated so horrible from a waitress young blonde in my entire life !! Made the night miserable. Rude is putting it nicely. If you hire people like her will not return or recommend. Took away all the good the restaurant has to offer. Unfortunately left a bad taste for Evanston . Came from far to go there. Was so excited to bring my daughter and husband there for his birthday! First night out in Covid. Sadly worst experience ever at an establishment. Just moved here but hopefully not for long Bad taste in my mouth. Yuck. Nobody should be treated like that !! Ever! Also first time rating anything. So you know it was bad , read more

Unreal pizza. Maybe the best pizza I've ever had. Great patio and service as well. We got the margarita and bbq chicken pizzas. We want to try other flavors but those two are so good that we keep ordering them over and over read more

The pizza was tasty. I ordered Grubhub delivery on a Saturday night and US was prompt. Four solid stars. I felt like it was a tiny bit expensive, but not lacking in quality. Much more willing to pay a higher price for quality when coupled with good service. read more

Love love love this spot! Drove over 1/2 hour to pick it up today! Discovered you in Revival Hall in Chicago- so glad to find another location. Bought 2 pizzas for leftover night!!! read more

Dined with another couple here this past weekend and sat outside in their beer garden. Very nice but quirky space - reminded us of a few places our daughter took us to when she lived in Brooklyn. I've actually had Detroit style pizza before having gone to college in Northwest Ohio so I was familiar with the style but they really step it up here. Our server was also very friendly and charming in a totally genuine way. The menu consists of about 8 or 9 pizzas and a few salads. Everything was fresh and flavorful and not overkill with toppings or sauce - so you could really appreciate each ingredient on the pizza. Crust is crispy on the outside and light and airy inside - as it should be. The salads were also very good. The only drawbacks were the prices of the pizzas which I thought were a little high for the style and size - and no beer on tap, although their selection in cans and bottles was first-class. My wife has proclaimed this to be her favorite pizza at the moment so we will be back soon. read more

Their patio is the bee knees for Friday nights in the warm months. Their pizza is the best in Evanston and the kale salad keeps me wanting to go back for seconds, and I am not a fan of kale. Awesome beer selection from local brewers and a ultra hip laid back atmosphere. I keep coming back to this place and will continue doing so as long as they keep on keeping on. read more

Love this pizza. A personal one is almost too much but it is so good. I normally go to the location at revival food hall but couldn't locate that one on yelp to review read more

I popped in this evening to get a small personal slice of pepperoni for the first time and it was absolutely delicious. The crust is crisp and buttery and the sauce, top notch, the portion pipping hot. Personally, I like it much better than regular Union and I'll be back. And back and back. Wonderful customer service and their on-site chef knows what he's doing. Thanks for being so kind. I think you know who I am. read more

I wanted to like this place, but after spending a lot on several pizzas for a party, I don't think it made any huge fans, myself included. We had the pies delivered and overall the delivery seemed to be fast enough that the pizza was still piping hot when it arrived, but perhaps it was all executed too quickly. I'm a Detroit style novice but I've had it a few times and one of the characteristics you expect is a caramelized, burntish crust. We didn't really get that. The edge had the consistency of the whole of the crust. Huge mis-fire. Otherwise, it was okay, but it's hard to overlook missing the signature qualities. I wish I'd taken a picture of it because it's hard to believe. read more

Me, my wife, and our pug visited the beer garden last night. It was fantastic. My wife is a celiac and she declared the gluten free pizza the best since she was diagnosed a celiac ten years ago, which warmed or at least thawed my heart. I had two quarters of the pepperoni....it is delicious the way the sauce is added on top. Our waitress was great, very knowledgeable and kind (easy on the eyes too for all you single fellas). We met the owner and she was very hospitable and so hands on, helping set up some heaters. She was terrific, as was the whole experience! Thanks, Union Squared! read more

Love this PIZZA. We have had it probably 10 times. I'm not from Chicago and hate to break it to you; no one but people from Chicago like deep dish "Chicago" pizza... Union Sq is a bit $$$, but it is so good. Now this Detroit thing Union Squared has going is how it should be done! That Brussels Sprouts salad they do is pretty darn good too. AND I just found out they have a beer garden -- now if we could get just a little warmer weather. read more

This pizza is soo soo good. Holy shit. Mind blow. I usually go for the supreme style pizzas, which are great here, but the formaggio cheese pizza is straight up divine. read more

Great salads, pizzas, drinks and vibe. And we LOVE Space, the in-house (or somehow associated) concert venue. Union Squared is a great pairing with Space or without it. read more

Their pizza is very good, especially when you get it delivered (it is the Sicilian square style). When you eat it there, they will give you the round, flat, and smaller pizza which is fine, but not as good as the delivery option. That being said, be prepared to pay for it -- about $30 dollars for a delivered pizza. read more

I ordered though grubhub on a week night and the pizza came really quick. We ordered the pepperoni and it was absolutely delicious. Also got the Brussels salad which was also a winner! Looking forward to ordering again read more

I've now had Union Squared's Detroit style pizza 4 times and have to say it may be my favorite pizza of all. The pepperoni is out of this world good! Additionally, we went to the beer garden today with a bunch of families with many children (read: LOUD and possibly/probably/definitely annoying) for my husband's bday and the staff didn't bat an eyelash at our crew. They were so friendly and accommodating to all; it truly made our whole experience top notch. Highly recommend! read more

The best pizza in Evanston, hands down! The service is attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy and casual!

Found this outdoor patio by accident towards and am so glad I did. Weve been ordering takeout from here for years so knew we loved the food but had no idea about the hidden gem of a beer garden out back. We bring our baby for pizza Friday every week (she has the chopped salad with chicken) and couldn't be happier with our experience there. Canned wine is shockingly delicious and our two regular servers, Hannah and Sophia, feel like part of the family they're so great with our kid. There's a family friendly atmosphere, heaters for the chilly fall weather and great music. COME HERE! read more

Friendly staff and tasty Detroit style pizza. Customizable only if you order a full pie. We ordered a full pie, half wild mushroom and half supreme without meat. I don't belive the mushrooms were wild as described, but the same button mushrooms that were on the supreme side. I preferred the (veggie) supreme side, hubby preferred the "wild" mushroom side. Leftovers were great when reheated in a toaster oven. The crust tends to get soggy when getting delivery, but a good option for pizza in the Evanston area. I hate to say, but I'd prefer to order from Malnati's for about the same price. read more

This place nailed Detroit style Pizza. The Mushroom pizza is one of a kind. Luca made sure that our table was taken care of even though he had plenty of others to attend to. It is located right outside the heart of downtown Evanston. For all you college students that are craving a far from average pizza, make your way to Union Squared!!! read more

The pizzas is heavy and delicious however it is WAY overpriced for what you get. $25 dollars for a small pizza doesn't add up. The dining area is VERY cozy( cough small ). They had a remodel about a year ago !! More space and a nice beer garden! Pizza still is amazing! read more

Food is great just like Union...but the delivery service through grubhub was awful...pizza arrived cold and salad arrived warm....seriously...y'all need to do better on that side of things... read more

There are no words for how amazing this pizza is. But since this is a Yelp review- I'll try. :-) We ordered a whole pepperoni and a slice of the supreme. The genius square pan delivers a perfect pie. Slightly caramelized crust with cheesy interior - not a hint of sogginess. Freshest of ingredients to boot. This is my new weekly pizza fix. A must try! read more

This place is fabulous. We've moved out of Evanston but stumbled in after being told that there's a long wait at Union (same owners, down the street). The beergarten is a best kept secret, with its fire pits and cozy blankets available on a crisp fall night. We got in right away - 6pm on a Friday night! The Detroit-style pizza is excellent. Kid-friendly but still nice enough and with great appetizer and craft/fancy beverage offerings to feel like a grown-up. Wish it was around when we lived here - we would have come all the time! read more

Incredible slice of pie. Controversial--but I'll take Detroit style over Chicago any day, because of this place.

Initially we were skeptical because of the whole Detroit style pizza thing-we get sick everytime we eat Jets pizza or Longacre. We ordered delivery through grubhub to Sketchbook brewery-it came earlier than was expected-and it was amazing! we ordered the Greek style and it was so fresh and delicious, the bread was light and buttery. So good. You have changed our minds about Detroit style pizza, and we'll be going back and ordering again! read more

This is the spot for Detriot style pizza. My personal favorite is the pepperoni. Loved the burnt ring of cheese that forms at the crust.

Ordered the Brussels & Kale Salad based on favorable Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint! Loved it! Looking forward to trying their pizzas next time! read more

The server submitted the wrong order to the kitchen, then the kitchen even messed that up (we asked for no green peppers and got them anyway). If that wasn't bad enough, the pizza was luke warm and some of the sausages were actually still a little cool in the center. The server said the pizza's came right out of the oven and had no explanation for how they could not be piping hot. Folks, pizza needs to be hot to be good. We were the only customers in the place and the pizza did not seem to be delayed coming out of the kitchen. So I have to conclude the crusts are made ahead of time, the toppings put on them and the whole thing is warmed just enough to melt the cheese a bit. I will say the flavors were good. I will try it one more time, just to make sure this was not just a weird night but I won't be running back real soon. Lot's of room for improvement. read more

Really? Trying to bring Detroit pizza to Chicago?! What are you thinking!? You're thinking that Detroit style pizza makes an excellent complement to Chicago fare! I was skeptical at first but fell in love with my first bite. The crust is crispy like a good thin crust. The doughy part is light and airy so when you eat a full piece you don't feel stuffed like you do when you eat thick crust. You can still have your favorite Chicago thin and thick crust but now you have your favorite Detroit style! read more

One of the best places to eat/drink outdoors in Evanston. The garden is laid back and chill and the pizza is excellent. We've had the Supreme, Wild Mushroom, Burrata Margarita, and Detroit Michoacán - ALL are excellent! The staff is really nice but service is a little rusty... food, drink, and outdoor atmosphere are spot on. read more

Best pizza in town. Don't be scared by "Detroit style" because it's way better than your average pizza. The crisp crust is the perfect base for the delicious toppings here. The staff is super friendly and takes great care of us. Get outside to the patio while you can! read more

This is my favorite pizza in town! Although the restaurant itself is very small, that really only adds to the appeal. The crust is soft and delicious on the inside with a very satisfying crispness around the edges. read more

Great pizza! Website is down but if you call they will tell you the prices and menu options.

Out of three deliveries, two involved luke warm pizzas. As I am only eight minutes from the place, and the dasher arrives at U^2 ahead of time;I have to assume the pies weren't hot when they came out of the kitchen. To make up for this, the cokes were warm. read more

Great pizza, great salads and great service! The new back patio is awesome- feels like you are in Brooklyn! Cannot wait to go back.

Delicious! Much lighter than typical Chicago deep dish. The cheese is not all that heavy. I shared it with my bf and we finished the whole thing. read more

Great tasting Detroit style pan pizza. Have ordered for parties and sports events. Everybody who try's the pizza just love it. Very lite and tasty. And also makes great left overs. The salads are great tasting too. A great addition to our neighborhood....... A must try..... read more

Delicious Detroit style in Chicago! Reminds me of the greats in Detroit like Buddy's, Shields, Cottage Inn, and Nikki's. Each bite is sumptuous! Treat yo self! read more
