I came last year for my birthday in the fall, and my sister loved the pizza so much she wanted to go for her birthday this past July. The patio is great to have during the summer because they can seat a lot more people, and even on a Tuesday evening their patio was packed. My birthday was on a Sunday last year, and we had no problem getting a table for 7 inside around 6pm. I actually preferred sitting inside. Something about eating deep dish pizza during the fall inside of a cozy dark restaurant just made the experience even better for me. I've been to Pequod's about three times already over the past few years, and it is definitely one of my favorite pizza's in Chicago. Until last year, I was unaware that Burt's Place was the original before Pequod's that started the caramelized crust. I love the caramelized crust, but it is definitely an acquired taste and some people will claim it just tastes burnt (they don't get it). Comparing this pizza to Pequod's, this one seems much more thinner and less doughy. It might be because we got a large, so the dough was just spread out more thin. I do wish I came here and tried this pizza when Burt was alive because many reviews online claim that the quality has gone down or it just doesn't taste the same. Either way, it's an iconic pizza shop that everyone should try at least once!
