    Pup wanting pizza crust

Pizza by the slice! 2 to go date night car dinner with our pup! Really helpful service because we asked for advice on slices and they gave us great suggestions. We were very impressed with the hot slices and how the crust was just right.

This is a very good pizza shoppe. I ordered the no nonsense cheese pizza. Very light and thin with a good crisp on the bottom. I'm not a fan of pizza crust but I at the crusts on this pizza it's that good. I've tried most of the NY style places in the Chicago area and this is easily in the top 3. I definitely recommend and it would be worth going out of your way for.

Amazing pizza from people who care. Last night we decided to celebrate our cat's birthday, and ordered a pepperoni pizza with the request that the pepperonis be in the shape of a cat. We could not have asked for better treatment for something our cat couldn't enjoy as much as we did. The staff went above and beyond, both in terms of their delivery on a very cute and delicious cat pizza. This made our night, and ever more heightened my love for a phenomenal pizza place so close to home. The staff working on the evening of the 6th made

Overpriced, adequate pizza by relatively indifferent staff. I rarely order from here as a result.

They serve NY style thin crust pizza and this is the first pizza I have had in the Chicago area that truly folds like a NY style pizza should.

When we got there I saw that he was exactly right. This is right in the middle of a residential area and these people who can just open their front door and walk a few steps to some Pizza are living the dream. The building is pretty small for the amount of people that they squeeze in there. But they were extremely accommodating with us and squeezing in some extra people at our table, which was much appreciated. We had a reservation, which was 100% the right move for how busy this place gets. I had done some research on what their pizza was like so I wasn't surprised when I saw the crust, which some people might think is burnt but it is not. Instead it is caramelized. It was definitely interesting and unlike other versions of Chicago Deep Dish I have tried. The sauce was also quite good. If I'm being 100% honest, this wasn't my favorite Deep Dish I had while in Chicago but it was definitely in the top contenders.

Lefty's has a very small dining room with limited seating (during the warmer months they offer al fresco dining) and a counter running along the main window for additional seating. In this instance seating and interior are secondary to the superb quality of the pizza. We started with a Sketchbook IPA and Peroni beer on draft. They were brought to the table in chilled glasses with a nice head of foam. The beers were presented in glasses with the beer names etched on each of the glasses. Outstanding presentation! For our entree we ordered a 16 inch thin crust pizza with sausage, green peppers, and mushrooms. When it came to the table it was hot and bursting with a sweet aroma and bouquet of colors. The pizza was topped with green, red, and yellow peppers, mushrooms, and chunks of fresh sausage. The sauce was sweet and plentiful and was amply covered with generous portions of melted mozzarella cheese. The pizza was hot and the blended flavors of the combined ingredients were superb. Finally, an establishment that values the quality of ingredients and consistently delivers. Lefty's is one of the very best thin crust pizza's on the north shore. You can dine inside or outside. I believe they have a heated patio outside. We dined inside, it was a shame that we couldn't sit at the booth where Anthony Bourdain's picture is. It was occupied. We ordered cheese curds and a medium sized pizza. For toppings, we chose sausage, mushrooms, and fresh garlic. This is not deep dish pizza, I would say it's more of a pan style. It's not heavy like at Gino's East or Giordano's. It has that famous caramelized crust and that airy dough. The toppings were super fresh. We immediately tasted the garlic. Burt's own special blend of the sausage tasted homemade. If you dine in, they cut it for you. If you take it home, you should already have a pizza cutter in your kitchen. Don't be lazy, it's very inexpensive. The cheese curds were generous and very tasty. They're like bite size mozzarella sticks. Service was great and attentive. Prices were cheap.

Pizza is definitely worth the wait, which is not as long as other deep dish places. Fresh brews on tap, casual and nice for conversations. My only complaint would be the chairs are not comfortable to sit in for long, and were not wide enough for my mid-size hips. And sometimes outside we got wafts of cigarette smoke. Still, it's a great spot not to be missed. It changed our minds on deep dish!

And I just have to mention that the service is outstanding and attentive. We decided to go with a plethora of dishes starting with their fried calamari to share. Perfectly tender with a light batter and served with both a house marinara and lemon aioli. Personally I LOVED the lemon aioli but the marinara not so much. I was just expecting more of a robust flavor from it. I chose my main from their 2 course lunch which is a pretty damn good deal. I chose the Baby Gem Salad and their Siena Smashburger and I knew I made a wise decision. The Gem Salad was actually the perfect lunch size and the burger...whoa. I know my burgers and this one was a good smash burger. It wasn't 'glammed' up like some burgers which I appreciated. Just the right amount of sauce and simple condiments. Next menu item...the Prosciutto and Fig Pizza. Ok today I learned that Bar Siena has major Neapolitan pizza game. The marriage of flavors drive me crazy. The difference maker on this pizza was the fact that they used real figs. Not fig preserve or fig jam but the real deal. Everything about this pizza was a home run. The crust, the toppings and even the arugula! I'm not a fan of arugula as I find it to be a little too pungent but I don't know what they did but this was so smooth and that pungent flavor was absent. Man just writing about that pizza and burger makes me excited to eat them again. Glad I have leftovers lol. Yeah def going back whenever I can!
