    Pup wanting pizza crust

Pizza by the slice! 2 to go date night car dinner with our pup! Really helpful service because we asked for advice on slices and they gave us great suggestions. We were very impressed with the hot slices and how the crust was just right.

This is a very good pizza shoppe. I ordered the no nonsense cheese pizza. Very light and thin with a good crisp on the bottom. I'm not a fan of pizza crust but I at the crusts on this pizza it's that good. I've tried most of the NY style places in the Chicago area and this is easily in the top 3. I definitely recommend and it would be worth going out of your way for.

Amazing pizza from people who care. Last night we decided to celebrate our cat's birthday, and ordered a pepperoni pizza with the request that the pepperonis be in the shape of a cat. We could not have asked for better treatment for something our cat couldn't enjoy as much as we did. The staff went above and beyond, both in terms of their delivery on a very cute and delicious cat pizza. This made our night, and ever more heightened my love for a phenomenal pizza place so close to home. The staff working on the evening of the 6th made

Pequod's Pizza is in my home town of Morton Grove, and I hadn't been there in over 50 years! I…read moreremembered the pizza as being exceptional, and had been talking about going back forever. It was a long standing joke between my husband and myself...could this pizza possibly live up to my expectations? And the answer is.... Yup! It is as good as I remembered it to be. The carmelized pan crust looks burnt (they even warn you on the menu that it's supposed to be black), but it's the best part of the pizza. The pizza/tomato sauce was extremely flavorful (not just plain tomatoes like Lou Malnatis or Rosatis). The sausage was delicious, and the onions were sweet. There was a ton of sausage, and lots of onions on the pizza--very generous portions. The mozzarella cheese appetizer was served very hot, and was pretty good. Basically...your typical frozen moz sticks. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. Service was very good. The only negative I can point out is there was an overwhelming mildewy smell when you approach and enter the restaurant. It was very off putting. Overall, this is the best pan pizza I've ever eaten, and as such, I highly recommend Pequod's.

Getting there wasn't the best start. Parking was a challenge, and since there were no available…read morespaces nearby, I had to park about a block away. It was a little frustrating, but I figured the walk would be good exercise before a big meal. The restaurant itself is small and has an older, cozy feel. The dining area is quite compact, so I wouldn't recommend it for large groups or parties. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We only saw our server three times: to take our order, deliver our food, and bring the check. In between, he was nowhere to be found. The lack of attentiveness and hospitality was disappointing. Thankfully, the deep dish pizza completely turned things around. The crust was crispy with a nice char, giving it excellent flavor and texture. The gooey cheese was evenly distributed throughout the pizza, and I appreciated that the sausage came in generous chunks instead of small crumbles. The tomato sauce was well balanced, neither too sweet nor too acidic which tied everything together beautifully. Despite the disappointing service, the pizza alone is worth coming back for. Next time, though, I'll probably order takeout. With service like this, leaving a tip didn't feel well deserved.

Lefty's has a very small dining room with limited seating (during the warmer months they offer al fresco dining) and a counter running along the main window for additional seating. They were brought to the table in chilled glasses with a nice head of foam. The beers were presented in glasses with the beer names etched on each of the glasses. Outstanding presentation! For our entree we ordered a 16 inch thin crust pizza with sausage, green peppers, and mushrooms. When it came to the table it was hot and bursting with a sweet aroma and bouquet of colors. The pizza was topped with green, red, and yellow peppers, mushrooms, and chunks of fresh sausage. The sauce was sweet and plentiful and was amply covered with generous portions of melted mozzarella cheese. The pizza was hot and the blended flavors of the combined ingredients were superb. We ordered cheese curds and a medium sized pizza. For toppings, we chose sausage, mushrooms, and fresh garlic. This is not deep dish pizza, I would say it's more of a pan style. It's not heavy like at Gino's East or Giordano's. It has that famous caramelized crust and that airy dough. The toppings were super fresh. We immediately tasted the garlic. And it's located in Old Orchard so perfect if you want to shop right after Decorated with Christmas lights draping from the ceiling Bar Siena offers a shirk dining experience. And I just have to mention that the service is outstanding and attentive. We decided to go with a plethora of dishes starting with their fried calamari to share. Perfectly tender with a light batter and served with both a house marinara and lemon aioli. Personally I LOVED the lemon aioli but the marinara not so much. I was just expecting more of a robust flavor from it. I chose my main from their 2 course lunch which is a pretty damn good deal. I chose the Baby Gem Salad and their Siena Smashburger and I knew I made a wise decision. The Gem Salad was actually the perfect lunch size and the burger...whoa. I know my burgers and this one was a good smash burger. It wasn't 'glammed' up like some burgers which I appreciated. Just the right amount of sauce and simple condiments. Next menu item...the Prosciutto and Fig Pizza. Ok today I learned that Bar Siena has major Neapolitan pizza game. The marriage of flavors drive me crazy. The difference maker on this pizza was the fact that they used real figs. Not fig preserve or fig jam but the real deal. Everything about this pizza was a home run. The crust, the toppings and even the arugula! I'm not a fan of arugula as I find it to be a little too pungent but I don't know what they did but this was so smooth and that pungent flavor was absent. We brought a very large party here back in December, and we wanted to come back because we wanted to treat ourselves to some very excellent food. However, it was mediocre. And for the cost? I'm not sure I can see us coming back. Three of us ordered the creamy angel hair lemon and we couldn't taste the lemon. It was bland. My teen ordered the Sienna Burger, she took two bites and said she didn't like it. She said there's no crunch in the veggies, something wrong with the tomato, she's looking for a good burger and this one isn't it. For the only burger in the menu? It should wow people. My other teen had the only winner of the evening, the Penne with vodka sauce. For appetizers we had the burrata, I've had this in other occasions, and tonight it just didn't taste the same. The apricot was more bitter notes. The Octopus was okay. Someone either changed the ingredients, or there's a new chef who doesn't know how to replicate good recipes, or management changed things. Whatever it is, I'm just not sure we will be back. For five people it was about $250.
