It's been a few years since we've ordered pizza and we were very pleased we chose Villa Rosa, a favorite when our kids were young. I ordered a thin crust XL w pepperoni and a small plain cheese, both UNCUT, for pu at 6:45pm. I walked in at 6:40pm and was told they were being readied, and out they came. Got home and as expected our grandkids (4 under 10) were running late so I turned on the oven to 500º and we waited. They arrived, popped the pizzas into our hot oven for a few minutes, and out they came. I cut half in squares and half in slices to accommodate each kids whims and everyone was happy. The pizza? I chose this on a whim because the restaurant places around us, although great and some family owned, left me wanting that "homemade" touch that only one-off pizza shops have. However I'm extremely glad I decided on VRPK. Conveniently placed for my commute and next to the Metra, it was a win-win ... win. I normally get the XL cheese and the medium Italian Delight. I have to say, their Italian beef is very delicious and it tastes absolutely delicious. This is my go to combo or baseline. I've had very delicious Italian beef + gardiniera pizzas elsewhere such as Phil's or Father & Sons, but none as good as this one. There's been very few moments in my adult life where I eat something which makes me zone out and contemplate the meaning of life. This was one of those times. It wasn't long lasting and not because it wasn't that good, but because the people I got the XL cheese for, were getting a little too familiar with mine. I had to make choices and one of them was less thinking more munching. Two other main things, often a lot of pizzas have a decent amount of salt for whatever reason, that was not the case here. I do like the "zing" you get from salt but I have people in my life where it's not their thing. This was right at the perfect amount of salt where if you wanted more, you can sprinkle it on. The other item is, I've become a bit more sensitive to pizza sauce and this has not caused me any issues. Mind you, I'll still eat it if it wasn't, because it's pizza, I'm just remarking that I don't have to worry about heartburn or antacids. I was making my own pizza sauce w/ San Marzano tomatoes but that takes too long and the premium brands are good but pricey. So to get a pizza that ticks all the boxes is amazing. Other points - I've only ever ordered take-out and haven't had a problem. Every time I have visited, there are guests, and not sure if they're having a great time or they work there, but they've been welcoming so the restaurant is doing something right. The atmosphere was pretty nice as well but the inner door doesn't seem level. It's at an angle or doesn't smoothly shut. I'm a weekend warrior for my own house so not a pro. I only mention this because it was cold and I didn't want to be "that guy" letting the heat out. Pretty sure a carpenter can resolve this and keep the door as it felt like a proper wood door. A bit of nostalgia from days past. Regardless, this place is great. I may order other items besides pizza but their Italian delight is exactly what I wanted, an Italian Beef in pizza form. I do have a question, have ya'll thought about a tavern crust offering? Granted it can't handle the same weight as thin / pan, it's often a nice option when you want pizza but don't want a lot of pizza and a bit of a char taste :-) Either that and or let me know if I can just ask for the pizza to be slightly over baked :-D No pics - we went to town on it. Placed an order for take out, and I'm super glad I did! Always heard great things about Villa Rosa and had to give it a try. Went with the Rosa Deluxe which was a great combination of sausage, green pepper, mushrooms, onions on a thin crust pizza. It was superb with fresh ingredients. Also got some wings as well and both the garlic Parmesan and buffalo were good too. Called my order in and was ready within 30 minutes as promised. The store front inside is nicely decorated. They do host small private events as I walked into one when picking up my food. Definitely will come back and worth trying when in the Edgebrook area! read more

We did pick up the other day and decided to go in and dine this time. We had a 16 inch cheese and sausage pizza and a 12inch deep dish for the kids. Pizza was great - thin and crispy. They have an extra thin crust option but we liked the normal thin crust. I have had better deep dish so when we return this will be our new thin crust spot since my regular spot is under new owners and changed the ingredients. Can't wait to try the Ribs and pasta on my next visit . We were told that the ribs are so tender they fall off the bone - can't wait for future visits and I will keep you posted! First time ordering from Villa Rosa and I think I've found my new favorite thin crust Chicago style pizza. My favorite pizza restaurant shut down a few years ago so I've been on the hunt for a pizza similar in taste. The crust is just perfect. My husband picked up and said the employees who I believe might've been the owners as well were super friendly and welcoming. My only suggestion would be if they would add more sauce to the pizza as I felt like it needed it. I was getting more cheese and toppings and couldn't taste much sauce. I'll mention it to them next time I order which will definitely be soon! So happy I found this place and I've already recommended it to friends and family. read more

The Eggplant Parmigiana was awful. First, there was no melted mozzarella cheese. Second, there was (2) 1/8 inch slices of mushy eggplant. The breading was mushy. Finally, it was served on spaghetti noodles when it is supposes to be mostaccioli noodle that tasted and look like a can of chef boy-ar-dee. There was no way this was homemade marinara. The Manager did apologize and offered a $20.00 credit. But we will never be back. People beware. Villa Rosa also owns Danny's Pizza on archer and Obbie's Pizza on archer. Comfort maybe, happiness , or good vibes might be closest, maybe the Germans have a word for it they seem to be good at identifying difficult things in one hard to pronounce word. We were looking for a last minute pizza option and tried Villa Rosa. It's a small casual place but the staff was very nice. We ordered pizza and eggplant parmigiana and it was amazing! It all tasted very fresh and homemade. We will be back. The only thing I would change? Take away the tv and just play some nice music. Other than that, great! read more

We order for pick up or delivery from Villa Rosa over 5 years suddenly we found out we could dine in as well. So we decided to go ahead and have dinner there. First of all, everyone is super friendly and food came in a short period of time taste of foods was good. So before we just tried different kinds of pizza but this time we tried different kinds of spaghetti. Seafood spaghetti was really loaded with seafood and it was good for two people. I ordered eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti, it reminded me the Pasta alla norma the Sicilian traditional dish. So the portion was delicious and very big. I couldn't eat the melted mozzarella on the top but it's because of my stomach nothing wrong with it. We definitely going back and I will recommend it to everybody. Something tells me that Villa Rosa has some new owners. Either way, the changes they have made are for the better. We thought we would throw caution into the wind and order from them once again for pickup. We had stopped ordering from them about 20 years ago, but once we stopped by during the Sidewalk Beer Tour a few weeks ago, we thought we would give them another chance. While it is a pretty standard pizza joint, the pizza that we did have was great! My family really likes their pizza crispy which this one came out nice and crunchy at the 18" size. We also got three free cans of pop to go with that pizza. Props to Villa Rosa for stocking lemonade and ice tea along with regular pop! We got wings and cheddar jalapeno poppers. Both were good, but we wanted a little more flavor in the sauce. Maybe next time we will get Buffalo or BBQ. It didn't ruin anything, but we added more Parmesan. Their hours are a little funky, but I will certainly be back to support this local business in my community. I was very impressed! read more

Amazing pizza spot! Their staff at this place is friendly and attentive. Their dough on the pizza is so fresh as are the toppings. They have overload toppings which is so great! The recipes are not the same as other restaurants with similar names. They are very unique. We tried the pan and the thin crust varieties. Everything about this spot is fine just right. This time I went with the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. The chicken was made perfect. The flavor was spot on. The sauce was excellent. I am really impressed! Also, their drinks are so refreshing. Stumbled upon this pizza place (signage not obvious) when grabbing ice cream at The Chocolate Shoppe on the corner and wife and I were excited to try it. Unfortunately, the results were "meh" at best. Crust was dry, flaky and flavorless. The sauce was runny and liquified. The cheese and toppings were fine but that's like saying the "frosting was good" when the cake is bad. I grew up on Villa Rosa, Mr. V's, and Barnaby's (for thin crust); Lou Malnati's and Burt's (for deep dish). I've lived in different neighborhoods as an adult and have returned to living in the hood I grew up in. The above are still my favorites... J.b Alberto's and Pete's held Villa Rosa's spot while I was not living in Edgebrook/Sauganash. Pizza is a staple of my diet, as it is for many of us. On an extremely lazy Sunday, I'd decided to give them a go. Reviews looked good and I was in the mood for thin crust. Having had unannounced guests stopping by (joining my couch-surfing Netflix binge) I now had varied needs for my dinner request. Our order settled on a large thin crust pizza with extra sauce, red onions, red peppers, diced jalapenos, 1/2 sausage and 1/2 spinach. Also an order of their chicken tortellini soup. (Per reviews their pies can run dry. In expectation of that, I requested a bit extra pizza sauce. Also, per Yelp photos posted by the owner in 2014, the comment about sausage is no longer correct. Its description says, "homemade spicy rope sausage." The sausage is no longer spicy and is store bought.) In a price comparison of what I ordered versus their available pizza creations, it would have been a few bucks less if I'd gone with one of theirs. Creating your own pie has a price difference, however not too significant in my estimation. (A few reviews state their pizzas run high priced. But taking account of their specialties, pricing is not bad compared to other local pizzerias. A large thin crust specialty is around $21 before tax. This judgement based on the current menu found online 2017) My custom ordered pizza above of a large thin crust with a soup was $31 and some change. And the best part, the pizza arrived as quoted in under an hour. So how was it? I enjoyed the veggie half more than the parts with sausage. Also, I think the crust would have been tastier if it was more crisp. It had a texture alike almost-fully-baked frozen pizza. Another reviewer gave a crust description as "chewy" which I think is spot on. Speaking of other reviews, one such had stated requesting a "well done" pie.
