We LOVE Union Grill! We had the pleasure of using their event space downstairs of the restaurant for a welcome meet and greet party with heavy hor'deurves and man were they good! We had so many compliments from our guests (all college students mind you) and they enjoyed every bite along with the atmosphere. Visiting my son and he suggested this place. I don't think I would have found it on my own. I liked it. It's kinda like the food you can make at home, but you don't feel like it that nite. Our table was eleven adults and a child so I was surprised that our server was left entirely to his own efforts to take care of us. Not one other employee even filled a water glass or cleared a dish. The Teriyaki Rice Bowl with chicken is really good and healthy. Waiter forgot the chicken at first, but may be I didn't mention it, but then he brought it out right away. The new restaurant is classy and clean. Guess what we got a FREE slice of cheesecake, even though the service was good (waiter thought it was iffy I guess they are working kinks out that we didn't even notice). First time at the new location. The atmosphere was nice but the service was horrible. My husband ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich and fries with soup as a starter. My friend and I ordered the salmon with salads. We all had to ask more than once for our starters and still did not receive them until we were almost finished with our meals. My husband also had to ask for his fries and of course he received them after he was finished with his sandwich. I also asked for "lots" of lemons and only received 1. Our glasses were dirty (as in lip marks around the edges.) our mashed potatoes were just that...no butter, seasoning, gravy etc. We ordered dessert to go and received it on a plate. I went for the first time last weekend And I really enjoyed myself. Granted, I was not in the main restaurant area, but rather in the basement for a catered event. However, the food we were served was straight off of the menu. I had the beef medallions and they were cooked to perfection. The parking is plentiful and free. I love the vibe of the restaurant. I had an opportunity to chat with the staff afterward and they were also very friendly. I really look forward to returning again to dine in the main restaurant area. I heard that their prices for renting the basement for an event is quite affordable, so I'm actually looking forward to looking into that for one of my own events. I was very disappointed in this place. I've heard great things about it, so I got together with a group of old girlfriends. The service is not good, very slow doesn't check in on the table, forgetful. The food was not the best, not enough sauce on certain plates, no chicken with the rice bowl, the Chicken Alfredo sauce was like water. It took us 45 mins to get any food, and there was only two other tables in the place with two couples. I may try coming back and trying something different but I was not impressed. read more

My friend had a wedding reception catered by them and the food was great. The steak that I had was flavorful, juicy and perfectly cooked. So logic says, go back right? So me and my wife went back and ate at the regular restaurant only to be served a rancid steak. Literally smelt like cow shit. Server didn't offer to comp the meal, I still had to pay for mine. This place is just ok. The atmosphere, decor is really cool, so I had high hopes. Ordered the chicken pita tacos. Lettuce tacos would have been the more accurate term. Had to scrape down about an inch till I saw some chicken, and it was not plentiful. About two strips per taco, and those were thinly sliced. Ordered guac , which was offered separately, had to ask for it twice. I regret my choice, the menu had a lot more to offer, maybe would go back but not any time soon. read more

Love Union Grill we eat there all the time and have for many years. Lately though they keep making changes. Starting with the hot wings a couple months back. My husband is obsessed with them. We are talking lick plate obsessed. The wings now are small and they tend to be on the dry side hardly any meat. Now I hear the fries have changed. What the heck. We went for lunch and were sat, but had absolutely NO ATTENTION after that. 30 minutes later I walked up to the front and NO ONE was there. Then I walked to the bar and NO ONE WAS THERE! This could very possibly been the worst meal I've had in a restaurant in 2 years, and I eat out about 5 nights a week as I travel every week. The steak had smell of bad meat, no flavor, and was not worth 9.99 let alone 28.99. The mashed potatoes were cold, as were the onion strings. The garlic butter on top of steak didn't even melt. I sat at the bar and my server was very nice and did fine job. This is all on the chef(for lack of better words), and management. I'll never return or recommend when I'm in town. read more

We arrived and were given a 10-15 minute wait time. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated. After we were seated we sat for 20 minutes before a server even said they'd be with us shortly. We were starving and didn't want to leave. After 30 minutes of sitting we finally got to order our drink. We had sat so long we ordered our appetizers and entrees at the same time. For starters, I've only been here once, for lunch, and had a generally positive experience. I know people who swear by this place, but I got the sandwich they suggested and even though it was good, it wasn't as amazing as indicated. The sandwich was decent, the fries were okay. Even at lunch I ended up dropping about $10 for what I thought was a $5 or $6-caliber meal. Being a bit on the thrifty side with my restaurant excursions, I'm not super eager to go back, but if a friend wanted to go I'd be fine to join in. One notable complaint I have is the lack of bread choices. I'm not a wheat bread guy, and the only other option was a specialty bread that was extremely salty. read more

went here with a couple of friends last night & the food was great!! had a really nice time & quick service. our waiter maybe said 10 words to us the whole time, which was fine, i'm sure he had a lot of tables. but he brought me the wrong salad dressing, which was fine. i told him i didn't mind. then he brought my friends a dish that they didn't order. which was also fine, obviously it was delicious. then at the end he brought us our receipt with "don't forget to tip" on it. i'm not sure if he was writing it on everyone's, or if he wrote it because we're teenagers? we just thought it was strange. we were definitely going to tip but didn't like that note. read more

The chairs are painful to sit on. The cooling of the restaurant was almost non existent. Server was okay but I like friendlier and told if there are any specials. The rice with the "steak fajitas" was okay. The price paid for the food served I felt I could have gotten better if I had gone to Javiers Mexican restaurant. The salad was mostly iceberg lettuce with a couple clips of romaine, 2 slices of cucumber, one or two rings of a red onion with a half green tomatoe. The salad had no contrast. It was also servered on the smallest plate I have seen for a salad. So the little salad that was there looked bigger. I guess I won't be going back there any time soon. read more

I have been coming to Union Grill for years. I haven't been in a while, but not much has changed. The word I would use to describe it is "inconsistent." I came here with family for an early dinner and was happy to see Fish n' Chips on the menu (pregnancy craving). However, I was disappointed. The breading to fish ratio was opposite of what it should be. So. Much. Breading. It wasn't even crispy at all. I ended up taking off the breading and eating the fish. I did enjoy the fries though. My mom and sister ordered the same dish, pasta salad. My sisters had capers, my moms didn't. Weird. The kids meal had a variety of fruit (apples, pineapple, melon, cantaloupe, grapes) which is unusual for a kids meal, but she ate every last bite of it. I'm sure I will find myself at Union Grill again someday, but the food just isn't memorable enough for me to crave or suggest it when dining out. read more

This is one of the best places to eat in Ogden!! Their prime rib is the best! We have eaten here since the owners opened the door. Everything on the menu is great, the onion soup is fantastic, the bread pudding is legendary, and the staff is fabulous! Chef Ro does a great job, Janaca is our favorite server, the managers Sam and Lori are all friendly, courteous and professional! If 10 stars were available, they deserve and have earned it! OMG...the spicy shrimp tacos were AMAZING! The shrimp was cooked perfect (not rubbery) and the avocado was at ripened the perfect amount. Being from out of town and wanting to try something local, I was thrilled with the cuisine. Bar service was extremely slow - waitress indicated new bartender and 2 large parties so we'll give the benefit of the doubt there. As a result, only enjoyed one beverage with my meal but no biggie. Last time we were there we could see our waitress playing on her phone just barely inside the kitchen. We were out of water for the majority of the meal.
