    Strawberry Cheese Tart
    Emily W.

Fresh out of the oven, it tastes so creamy, sweetness is well balanced. The service is quick, although it's a bit of higher priced. But the ingredients definitely aren't cheap. It's like a cheesecake on a tart. It just smells into your mouth full of flavor of strawberry, matcha and Ube.

Another year went by and it's time to revisit one of my favorite cakes. They're running a special: get a mini cheesecake and a tart for $10 -- who can say no to that??! So we went with the ube tart and of course it never disappoints -- next time, I've gotta try their matcha. For the mini cheesecake, I tried the pandan, which had a nice coconut base and pandan is subtle. Service was standard. I wish they offered utensils and napkins with your purchase.

I had to ring the bell for service to get the workers' attention. I don't care for their cheesecakes, but love their cheese tarts. I've tried original, ube, green tea, and most recently chocolate. My favorite is still the original cheese tart, followed by the chocolate. Cashless payments only.

Haven't had uncle tetsu in a minute and the basque cheesecake was calling me. I've never tried there's so thought I'd give it a shot. Meh..it's ok..it's def eggey and has a sour aftertaste. Maybe it's just me but probably wouldn't get that again. The regular cheesecake cookies cream on the other hand was so good! Really light in texture and not too overpowering in flavor. Would get that again!

Service was friendly and knowledgeable. My kid is really into Korean and Japanese foods so when we found our selves hungry at Serramonte mall, we ran into this place while looking for a sweet treat after lunch. I saw cheesecake and was instantly sold. However Japanese cheesecake is not the same texture or consistency as American cheesecake lol but it's really tasty! We sampled a few of the items they had available. My gut said to order the strawberry Japanese cheesecake but I saw the seasonal flavor, cherry blossom, and ordered that. The flavor was of the blossom, not very cherry at all. Similar to anything lavender. It wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite. We also ordered the Japanese tart in original flavor and THAT is similar to anything lavender American cheesecake oddly enough and I devoured it my kid went to buy the other three flavors of the tarts which were: matcha, ube and strawberry. First I will note that the consistency of the flavored tarts were much softer, but not runny, compared to original Japanese tart. Matcha - neither of us will ever order that flavor again. Matcha is a tricky thing, too much and it's hard to keep eating. And that's what happened here. Strawberry and ube were equally delish with my preference being the strawberry and my kids preference was the ube. Both mild as far as sweetness goes. The Japanese cheesecake has this odd, but not repulsive, texture. It's light and fluffy and has tiny air pockets but when you bite into this cloud thing it squishes in your mouth. So hard to describe. Definitely recommend checking them out. They sold out a few times while we're there of the small Japanese cheesecakes and the original flavor Japanese tarts. Ambiance is well it's a mall lol so take what you can from that 8/10 will be back

I'm between 4 and 5 stars on this one - buuuut I decided to lean towards the 5 star because of the experience. I'm actually not super into cheesecake, but Japanese-style cheesecake suits my fancy more as it's not as "cheesey" and more like spongecake (so it's personal preference). I really like ube too - and they do a good job getting enough ube flavor in there (I like my flavors strong.) The value is really good too - so it's something you can grab everytime you're in the mall :) Sometimes, the cheesecakes are still warm when you're there (at least when I'm in the San Mateo location) and the texture is suppppper goood (after you refrigerate them, it changes it permanently.) When I was here, the cheesecake was already fridged - but it's still really good. Again, the cheesecake isn't that cheesey or dense like traditional cheesecake - so if you like that, you may not like this as much. But it is lighter and honestly probably easier on the calories at least a little bit. I only get the ube flavor because I remember not liking the other stuff I tried many many years ago - but I forgot that maybe it's possible to sample so that's definitely the way to go. (I'd be interested in the matcha and yuzu... and I guess the original because that sounds classic). Service-wise, the lady was super nice and helpful. No worries there :) Hope Uncle Tetsu continues to do what they do for a long time! Mom is always excited for the cheesecake that we bring back to her in Chicago :)

Tried all the different flavors with the biscotti free sample. Tried a tart for the first time - those seem to be the first to sell out at other locations. Also got a discount on future purchase. Fast and friendly service. This location is right by the foodcourt - its strange how mall foodcourts have all the good stuff these days... The cheesecakes are very light and the tarts are heavy with a tasty crispy crust that compliments the cheesecake part well. Biscotti seems to be made with the usual cheesecake but then baked twice. I think its a good idea - you could probably do this at home too with extra cheesecake that is no longer fresh. There are so many different flavors - you could try them all and never get bored. In general this mall is alive and well. Many good, relevant stores that attract people in a time where shopping online is the thing to do.

Very consistent with the quality of their cheesecakes. Every single one I've had is very soft and fluffy! Service here is pretty efficient; every cheesecake is made-ready so you'd be in and out under 3 mins. The only complaint I have is all their flavored cheesecakes taste almost just like plain ones... you can taste a bittttt of the flavor like Oreo and Ube but barely.

Located in Stonestown mall, the original cake is to die for. Service is attentive and you can tell they cook the cakes on-site which I appreciate. Also, beginning from the first bite your taste buds will be in a trance, as the cake is the perfect mixture of sweet, salty, gooey and buttery. The flavors are almost perfect. I highly recommend this place but it can be dangerous for those trying to diet. Wish they had some seating in their area, but hey it's a food court.

I found the original cheesecake to be overpriced and underwhelming. The service was just okay. I used the bell on the counter since the cashier was in the back; she came to the counter after I rang it and took my order. She then came back with the box and handed it to me; I'm unsure if the cheesecake was made fresh but it had a bit of a staleness to it that permeated with each bite. I think I had different expectations on the flavor profile? Maybe I just need to try it again.

(Hiroyuki Sanada voiceover) Yes, this is going to be a Mazda...oops. No, this is a follow up data point review. Because scientific theory rests on reproducible data. The vibe is the fabulous Uncle Tetsu Bakery! Tam warmly greeted me! I wanted to get something special for my coworkers who endured and triumphed over major setbacks this AM! What better way to celebrate success than Uncle Tetsu! Had to get the Pandan!!!! So good! I got two. Yes, two. One for my friends. The other for me of course! The subtle coconut, perfect mouthfeel, and of course that nuanced but distinct pandan flavor is inarguably oishi desu-yo! Hai! The basque also caught my eye. Had to get it. Then Ms. Tam goes above and beyond and tells me about perhaps considering a gift card. Shhhhh. Don't let this limited time offer get out. Through some complicated and convoluted mathematics that doesn't involve getting a 5 on the AP BC calculus test as a junior. Ohh the glory days of yore. I was able to leave w/ 3 for the price of 2 and still pocket $10. Whut? Honto desu-yo! And trust me because I look trustworthy on and off the screen. The ladies love both flavors! Am I right ladies? Would order everything again! I have. Thanks, Tam! Woohoo!

We met up with family in the City then on to Stonestown, HMart and Serramonte malls to hang out for the day. One of the places we stopped was at Uncle Tetsu's for some yummy, fluffy, cheesecake-y goodness. I got a smaller size pandan cake and the basic cheesecake tart "on special" for $16. I think the pandan cake is $13 and the tarts are $4 so really, a dollar off. The tart almost made it to driving past Golden Gate Park, i.e., devoured on 19th Avenue. The filling was so impossibly silky smooth, with a crisp and flaky crust. I should have gotten two! But the cheese cake made it over two bridges. I cut it half to give to my dad. I think he ate the cake before the Jollibee fried chicken we brought back, lol. Hubby and I had a quarter that night and finished it for breakfast the next morning. Although it was well packaged, the design on top it didn't really survive the drive. Fortunately, I took a photo of some chocolate cakes on display at the store. So clever with the little face masks and "be safe" imprinted on top.

We have been here a few times, but we finally wanted to leave a review! It's definitely cake skewed towards the Asian palette, but it's still good. Their usual cheesecake is very light and spongy. Better to not think of it like cheesecake. If anything, I'm reminded of my Mom's angel food cake when I was little. We recently got their Basque cheesecake to try something new. It tasted like I expected, but it's still lighter and less sweet than what I'm used to. I went home and still looked for a chocolate or caramel sauce to top it off. I'll try a tart the next time I'm in the area maybe. Keep up the good work!

If they're busy, they might forget to call your name and you'll need to go get the food yourself, which is frankly impossible to fathom when you come from San Francisco. But Pacifica is different, y'know?   Anyway.  ------------------------------ First, the turkey sandwich. 5/5 I'm guilty of expecting the meat to be the focus on a sandwich, but in this case the turkey was the filler, which, as a carnivore, is there a better meat filler? Bread, dijon, lettuce, turkey, queso. The dijon did for flavor what the lettuce did for texture, throwing in a twang that kept the sandwich interesting. Its creaminess tag-teamed with the cheese to keep the sandwich in one piece. Great sidekicks. The turkey was... Nothing special. Clean but mundane, for the star of the show was the bread.    Some of you might roll your eyes.  No shiet, Sherlock.  THIS. IS.  A bakery.   Cuz some of you might roll your eyes.  It's just bread.    But this isn't wonder-bread. It's dense. It's got a chew.   The sourdough is minimally sour, hearty, with a thick, hard crust, and made matrimony with the turkey. A lil bit of salt, the slightest tang, tango-ing into a single texture. Those of us who've had an egg sando in Japan understand how the softness of the egg salad made the softness of the bread fundamental. The turkey here wasn't slipping anywhere, though it complimented the meatiness of the bread. This, sandwich, needs, teeth.    I hope you weren't expecting to eat turkey without teeth. Perhaps that's tofurkey you're thinking about.   The crust was hard too. A well supported, almost crunchy hardness, and a far cry from the st-ale pork rind that the free bread in Mont-real would remind you of. I ended up turning the sandwich sideway as if I was enjoying a taco.   The best panera you'll get and a supreme sleeper.   ------------------------------ The second sandwich: 4/5 The sesame studded hoagie, on the other hand, was nothing short of Guns N' Roses. This sub had a KISS of intensity from the seared meats, a KISS of spice from the mayo and capocollo, a KISS of sharpness from the provolone, and a single leaf of romaine to give that little crunch and freshness, so you can tell your mom that you ate your veggies. There's going to be a rock concert in your mouth. With each element in a bit to prove their existence, it ended up being too intense for us. With these all being strong flavors, it's amazing that you could still taste everything. And they work well together. It's just that your taste buds will send an SOS, walking out of a Black Sabbath concert feeling a bit drained, like Spongebob breaking down after working the tables at Squidward's five star restaurant. The crustiness of the roll, the studded texture of the sesame, the meat escarpment slipping out, you will have no more desire for thee. Water. Something to cleanse the mouth.   If you're one of those among us who gets sweet emotions eating curry without naan or rice, this could be your bad medicine.   * Keep it simple, stupid.

I loved the salted caramel taste, but the drink was slightly too milky and sweet for me. I would still get it again, haha. SERVICE: 8/10 Service is pretty standard out here and straightforward. AMBIANCE: 8/10 The space is simple, but the view of the open kitchen, along with the display of freshly baked pastries and loaves of bread, really adds to the ambiance. I've been here a few times. Most of their bakery items are a hit or miss. Yes to: banana pudding…read moreand cream sulpangs. Any sulpang without cream is so dry and flavorless. I've tried the cookies and green tea loaf - HARD PASS. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! It's so dry and flavorless. Waste of money. BUT I mainly wanted to write a review because of how GROSS some of the employees are. I was waiting in line and this young asian girl that's putting the dessert cups away in the lower cold fridge area (I think they were the cookies and cream cups) behind me starts COUGHING while putting the desserts away. She didn't even has a mask on and didn't cover her mouth. SHE WAS COUGHING ON THESE DESSERT CUPS. I was so surprised. I wanted to say something I didn't want to embarass this young girl. But that's so DISGUSTING!! Also, I work in food service for years with a ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification. I ordered french toast and coffee and the young girl working as a cashier/serving food hands me my order, and I notice she has these prettiest acrylic long fake nails. I was going to compliment her, but it struck me that those nails aren't allowed in food service. She should be wearing gloves if she's going to hand me my food and drink if she has those on. Please BE MORE SANITARY AND PRACTICE FOOD SAFETY!!
