Was looking for a custom cake and The Baking Endeavor was perfect! Tina was such a pleasure to work with - easy responsive communication over email, reasonable pricing, clear pickup instructions. She gave tips on flavor combos and what kind of cream to choose so it wouldn't melt in certain weather, and was very detail-oriented. We had some ideas on the design and Tina executed them perfectly. The cake itself looked exactly as we pictured it, we got an 8" 4-layer vanilla cake with passionfruit cream+curd - tasty, not too sweet, and and all our guests loved it! Look forward to working with her again for future special events that need a cake!

ISNT SHE STUNNING? wow i love them so much. i won this beautiful roll cake from the baking endeavor's giveaway on instagram, back in may 2021. i am truly truly truly grateful for tina, the creator and baker/this breathtaking lady, to host this generous giveaway and spend her time to make this beauty for me!! SO--THIS WAS SO SO GOOD, visually, sensory--it was gone in like two days!! the tart berries and yuzu curd complimented the perfectly-balanced sweet milk crumbs and vanilla cream and all that together paired so nicely with the VERY FLUFFY and AIRY matcha cake-- i was just in awe! i highly recommend her if you want a customizable cake that is both just stunning and so balanced in texture and in taste !! LIKE SHE MAKES SHAPES AND DESIGNS IVE NEVER SEEN, LIKE HELLO? ?? the hard thing is that she located in deep sunset so make sure you have a car to get yourself here!

Sesame Cookie

A new stand at the Ferry Building Farmers Market on Saturdays. They seem to be riffing on cinnamon rolls and cookies with their own Korean-influenced flavors. Loved the sweet pastries, but the savory ones weren't really my jam (at least not for first thing in the morning). Matcha Bun: This was like a cinnamon bun, but with lots of matcha instead of cinnamon. I really liked how the bitter matcha tempered the sweet creamy frosting. You didn't feel like sweet overload after finishing this. Also, really fluffy bread. Black Sesame Bun: Looked really cool, like something a goth baker would make around Halloween (or anytime of the year really). Really enjoyed the very generous covering of black sesame paste on top, it was way more intense than regular frosting. The bun itself was soft and filled with tasty baked-in black sesame flavor too. Kimchi Bun: Not like a cinnamon roll at all, except the shape. Kinda reminds of those savory braided breads one can get in Chinatown with flavors like bacon & green onion. The bread itself was fluffy and soft, I think milk bread. The kimchi with gochujang packed quite a kick for a savory morning pastry! I love hot food and it's not too hot for me, but it was just kinda jolting to experience those flavors in the morning. The corn was a nice cooling complement. Garlic Miso Butter Bun: Liked this more than the kimchi bun. Tasted like a super unami cold garlic bread. It was a ring of soft milk bread with a really intense center of miso and butter and spinach (I think). Definitely enjoyed it! Sesame Cookie: Like a peanut butter cookie, but with sesame butter. It's like halva in cookie form. This pairs very nice with coffee or tea or whatever you favorite hot morning beverage is. Strawberry Milk Macaron: San Francisco has been macaron heavy for the past 5 years or so. Theirs was formidable competition. I love when people use fruit jam and they did that in the center with a milky cream by the sides. The macaron shell was a bit too crunchy for my tastes, but still had some chewyness underneath.

Kimchee bun

I've been getting more familiar with Korean cuisine with Korean fried chicken, Pa-jeon seafood pancakes, Dol-sop-bop rice bowls, soon-doo-boo tofu stews, bbqs, kalbijjim and all the banchan. Our friend, Mike C, a regular at the Saturday Ferry Building Farmers Market, picked up Kimchi buns for us to try. He said the bun was from The Baking Endeavor. I googled and determined it to be part of the La Cocina incubator program, which consists of 10 Asian women chefs. Now for the bun. I loved the texture of the bun, which reminded me of focaccia. It had a slice of Spam within the bun and some kimchee on the top center of it. Generally, kimchee is a little spicy for my palette, but the amount of it on the bun was not too overwhelming and provided a nice kick to the bun. Thanks to my friend for opening my eyes to this tasty bun. I don't get to visit the Saturday Market often, but if you do, check out The Baking Endeavor for their tasty offerings.

Another La Cocina sponsored bakery appeared at the Saturday's Ferry Farmers' Market in September. The Baking Endeavor occupied a stand at the waterfront side of the market Saturday 9/5/20; I was looking forward to see them again, but, likely due to the air quality, they did not participate the following Saturday. On that visit, I read the sign and noticed three items that caught my eye. I then walked to the table and saw the display with those items and my hand was already reaching for my wallet. I first tried the Vietnamese cold brew (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=KHpHDomuTwA3pYa3Yx6gAQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) which I started drinking when I finished my shopping mission; not being a coffee fan, I was BLOWN away by the flavors and the cold coffee in quenching my thirst. I will get this again on my return visit if it's available. After getting home and having lunch, I stared and stared before I finally decided to try the black sesame roll (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=kwDEygDaU_ed-zoVom190Q&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); I thought that I'd just eat half of this since we were having dinner just a few hours later. Well, it just disappeared from my fingers as I became a Pac Man and gobbled this up like it was a dot. This was my second favorite as I am more of a frosting/filling guy than a dough person. The black sesame flavors were prominent in both the frosting and the filling which is why I couldn't stop from finishing it. The next morning, I tried the miso garlic bun (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NuAECjTlqWak6YOLHvzU5Q&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) after reheating it in the toaster oven; the flavors were there but it was just okay for me as it felt like a garlic flavor was dominant. The following morning, I reheated the Kimchi bun (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=ifdv4j7kVxbA4RHVhpeh0Q&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) for breakfast; this was my favorite as the outer bun was tasty but not overwhelming; it was the filling that widened my eyes with pieces of Kimchi staring at me (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=MEy_b81c9Cvd8kKogHcnDA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q). The taste was perfectly balanced as Kimchi sometimes overwhelms all other flavors. There were two young people manning the booth and a separate La Cocina table on the side to the right. Being in a rush to finish my shopping, I did not look at their other offerings but you know I will if and when they are there again at the Ferry Building. In searching their website, they also do selected pickups on designated days and places.

Devil's food cake with chocolate buttercream topped with strawberries and V and Jin
Kelly Q.

I love everything I've tried from The Baking Endeavor!! Most recently, I ordered a custom devil's food cake to celebrate my cousin's birthday. The ordering process was simple and straightforward - I entered the relevant information on the business website and Tina started a correspondence via email within the next day. I've never ordered a custom cake so she made sure to ask for my opinion on customizable options (size, fully dressed vs semi-naked, frosting flavor). The cake was sooo delicious. It was the perfect level of sweetness and the buttercream was incredible!!! It was fluffy, chocolatey and didn't feel like I was just eating a bunch of butter. Previously, I've tried all their rolls, cookies, and macarons, along with their drinks - yuzu shiso lemonade is a personal favorite. I was surprised by the drink flavor actually, since I am not really a lemonade person. My favorites out of the buns are the kimchi and black sesame - their flavors are strong but not overpowering! The savory flavors are quite addicting as well. Definitely looking forward to the next time I can make another custom order!

Delicious and beautiful! Decorations where not included. For my son's birthday.

Tina is such a talented baker! I lost track of time and needed a cake for my sons birthday. I contacted Tina through her website and she got back to me the same night and confirmed my order the next day. With her suggestions on my vision, I ordered a four layered devils food cake with chocolate and peanut butter cream, caramel drippings, cookie crumbles and and peanut butter cups. It's was delicious!!! She added her signature touch with Asian flavored macaroons!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

The best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had! So good that we had them at our wedding! Could not be happier with how Tina took care of us and made are day even more special!

Chocolate Hojicha Roll Cake

The Baking Endeavor's yummy Mother's Day Treat Box was just that... a real treat! I picked one up on Saturday and still have a few things left; even after a couple of days, the treats are still delicious. The box included the most delicious passion fruit meringue tart with just the right amount of tang, two macarons (one s'mores and one kinako banana), two yummy chewy black sesame financiers, two ube coconut cookies, and two slices of her roll cake; I ordered the chocolate hojicha and almond mascarpone, but I purchased two more slices separately ($6.50 each) in order to have one of each flavor (there was also strawberry matcha and pandan coconut). I absolutely loved the passion fruit meringue tart (I'm partial to tangy citrus desserts), but the other items were fantastic as well. I met the pastry chef, Tina, when I picked up my box from Toyose Restaurant on Noriega in the outer Sunset and she was very sweet. You can follow her on IG The Baking Endeavor. Her desserts are gorgeous, too, so a selection would make a great addition to any nice dinner menu!

We ordered mango, pistachio, lemon, and chocolate hazelnut. The pistachio had actual, real pistachio in it and was delicious - unlike other places that utilize an artificial flavor. The lemon was vibrant and bursting with flavor. The chocolate hazelnut was perfectly balanced and had just the right amount of chopped hazelnuts around the rim. I didn't try the mango (don't like the flavor), but my son loved it. He said it was yummy so that's a win. The macarons were puffy and soft, yet chewy and crunchy. The fillings were not overly sweet and didn't gush our the sides like some do. Overall just really well done macarons. Angeli also offered free delivery in the area and kept great communication leading up to the delivery. The macarons were delivered right on time as she said they would be, and packaged beautifully. The cake flavors are amazing, and I love that they have mini cupcakes of such a variety of flavors. But they are also one of the most talented cake artists. I contacted them on whim last year when my default baker went out of business and I needed a cake for my kids birthday party. It was a Bluey themed party, and they really came through with everything. Sometimes its hard going with someone new, especially when you don't know what to expect. But I knew their cupcakes were amazing so figured it was worth the risk. But they created the most amazing cake that was beautiful, moist and flavorful. This year, we choose a hawaiian theme and then subthemes of a Hawaiian Hello Kitty, Hawaiian Squishmellows, and Hawaiian teenage mutant ninja turtles. It was a challenge to put it all together but they did it and I was so happy with the results! And the cake literally melt in our mouths (the berry flavors, for anyone interested). Everyone has been so easy to work with and I love that they do a consultation to get information on what you are looking for. Highly recommend if looking for a mini sweet treat, or bigger sweet treat. Or any speciality cakes. Oh yea, did I mention they make macaroons and cake pops too!? I chose macarons (of course) and he chose mini cupcakes. I'd been Instagram stalking Macarons A Go-Go for years, so our wedding was the perfect opportunity to finally order from them. And why just go with boring (but still great) round ones, but go with character ones instead? I'm a huge Studio Ghibli and tokidoki fan, so I requested Totoro and the tkdk honey bear, as well as a regular round one in salted caramel, lemon, and mango guava. They were super responsive and really patient when I couldn't make up my mind about flavors, characters, etc. They also delivered the macarons to our venue and set them in a display stand. I'm willing to admit this because well you want my honest opinion and you'll get it. But know this I'm no slouch when it comes to reviews even if I know you. As a matter of fact I'm giving MAGG their first 4-star rating (all are 5 at the time of this writing) You'll understand shortly. First off the creator behind MAGG, Van, is a connoisseur (bordering obsessed) of many things exotically sweet. If she decides to tackle things its with zest (like her Myer Lemon Macs) and reckless abandon (to my waste lines) but leaves you wanting more. Fortunately she did this with Macarons and now presenting it us so we are lucky for it. She's also a sweetheart to-boot. OK enough about that...now about these fancy cookies... At first the MAGG creations were so-so but after trial and error and hundreds of tastings later, I'm extremely satisfied to say that they are just a delight to enjoy. Every flavor I have tried has been on point. Myer Lemon, Spiced Pumpkin, Fleur Del Sel Caramel and Black Sesame were some of the standouts. The flavors stay true to their name and why wouldn't it be when it's fresh natural ingredients. She says she doesn't use food coloring and I'm just bewildered because they are not only a delight to eat but also look at with their vibrance and beauty (never thought I'd use those words to describe a cookie.) Texture wise the shell is crispy to a snap on initial bite moving inward to a chewy center and then finally the amazing flavored inner cream. I swear if I could "oreo" these cookies and lick out the cream I would but the eating them as a whole is what experience a macaron is about and MAGG does that well. Before I didn't even take notice of a macaron simply because they never really made an impression. Now that I have been re-introduced to them I have sought out and compared many others to MAGG and well they definitely hold their own if not blow out most Bay Area bakeries through the flavors. Now for the reason for the 4 stars, these damn things are on a rarity. You want to collect them as much as you want to eat them. Right now MAGG is only available through special order or in Burlingame Farmer's Market. I just wished there was more places to get them at or one place that had them available all the time since I'm not spoiled with tastings at gatherings anymore. If you are into Macarons then you will definitely need to check out Macarons A Go-Go. As a fringe benefit you'll also be supporting a local small business and great person. Highly recommended (when you can find them)!

Sure, if you have any pastry snobs attending your party, you may want to satisfy their "sophisticated" palate and/or shut them up by catering your sweets from a local famous bakery or something, but my wedding attendees all loved the sweets and would have had no idea that they weren't "catered." In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you or I have eaten some of their offerings at local bakeries, restaurants, or catered events because they not only sell fully prepared desserts, but also unfilled cream puffs, tart shells, chocolate decorations, flavoring pastes, and other base ingredients! Therefore if you enjoy baking and want to get some specialty ingredients (glazes! fondants! sugar flowers!) as well as normal baking ingredients that surpass the quality of the average grocery store versions, here's where you want to go. Can you imagine showing up to a friend's birthday party with a homemade cake, filled with mousse, and topped with chocolate batons and shavings? Showstopping. The building is unassuming; located in a business park in the industrial food service districts near the Biotech zone of South San Francisco. You can check out their catalog online (ifigourmet is their parent site's name) but you have to order by phone or email. The only catch is, as a wholesaler, they will not sell to you unless you have some sort of business/tax ID to present them with. It doesn't have to be a catering/food service related business, mind you. As long as it's a business (I used my company's tax ID, with their permission) you are allowed to place an order. Then you schedule a time to pick up your goodies. There's no showroom for you to browse, so you just have to go with whatever you see in the catalog. In addition to buying sweets for the wedding, I also bought a case of vanilla macarons for myself, just to, you know, see the quality ;) Yes, I ate them all within a month.

Because this is wholesale only and they cater to mostly pastry chefs, I couldn't do a tasting. So my mom decided to "test the waters" and order French Macarons and Petit Fours mini pastries for my engagement party. To my surprise, the macarons were very good. There were four flavors: Chocolate, Vanilla, Raspberry and Pistachio. There was an assortment of mini, bite size pastries like hazlenut cream puff and and a classic Opera torte. Some of these desserts tasted better than others. And some of these desserts did not keep their consistency very well. For this reason, I didn't order the petit fours for my wedding day. I did order 360 macarons in 6 flavors and there weren't any left over at the end of the night! You can pick it up yourself at their location M-F. However, they do offer free delivery on orders $100 or more, but not to residences and they could only deliver to my location on Wednesday. If I host another party one of these days, I would love to try out their frozen desserts. It is a really yummy looking assortment. You will not find a better deal on macarons. I will totally share "my little secret" and recommend Marque Foods to any wedding or party planning needs!
