After trying some macarons from Colette Macaron last year at a Yelp Event, I knew I would want them again for special events in my life. What's more special than a wedding reception?! In lieu of just serving cake, my husband and I set up a dessert table at our reception with macarons from Colette Macaron and mini cupcakes and slices of cake from Nothing Bundt Cake. We also had a boba bar from Gong Cha. We really wanted the food at our reception to shine! It was really easy to email the owner, Anita, to get a quote for macarons. After I told her what we planned to serve for dessert and our color scheme (light purple/pink), she gave me some suggestions for flavors. We ended up going with ube, balsamic strawberry, and Nutella flavors in a light pink/purple/cream design with gold paint decorations. All our guests loved the flavors and we had no macarons left over (we also put out some to-go boxes at the end of the night for people to take things home). Anita was helpful in suggesting times of delivery based on our reception timeline. The macarons were delivered on time to Los Altos from San Francisco and things still tasted great a few hours after delivery. Anita also clarified the ingredients in the macarons so I could put up some allergy notices on my menu signs. This is probably by far the best macarons you can get if you live in the Bay Area or are here visiting (make sure to order them ahead of time if you're not from here). My boyfriend loves macarons and says this is hands down his favorite. We first tried Colette Macaron at Mission Blue (a local coffee shop in Visitacion Valley and another must try) and have been fans ever since. I recently made a big order for my boyfriend's birthday. Since Friends is one of our favorite tv shows, I thought it would be great to combine a favorite show with his favorite dessert from his favorite macaron baker! The result? Perfection. I began my inquiry around the holidays (so a very busy time), but Anita was responsive and accommodating to what I was wanting. Since this was a surprise for my boyfriend, all the planning was done through email. Now, before I get going, let me confess that I am something of a macaron snob. There are good ones around the city, very few great ones. That being said, these rival them all. Without a storefront, you need to put in orders a couple days ahead, but they are so quick with response time and incredibly helpful and accommodating, so I was already impressed before I even got my hands on the goods! I got some orange creamsicle, some Thai tea, and Moscow mule, and each were scrumptious. I do want to do some extra raving about the Thai tea. These cookies are divine. The flavor is so true to what you expect from Thai tea, not overbearing or too sweet, the nuance of these macarons is unbelievable. My whole thing with Yelp is being able to recognize those who do things right while others cut corners. I first emailed Colette Macaron to inquire about character macarons, but they were fully booked (I suggest booking in advance if you can). However, they were able to squeeze me in for custom letter/alphabet macarons. We ordered a box of 12 macarons along with 5 letter macarons. The flavors we chose were raspberry rose, HK milk tea, and cookies n cream. I believe the letter macarons were vanilla flavored. All the flavors weren't too sweet which is why we couldn't stop eating them. We really enjoyed the perfect texture and subtle flavors of each macaron. On the day of delivery, Anita (owner/baker) dropped the macarons off at a restaurant where my friends and I were having brunch.
